It’s certainly a creative use of the ingredients. The team with the weird choices in the craps challenge, usually ends up winning. S6 with the Figs, S10 with Dragonfruit and S13 with the Lemon, Lime and Pine Nuts.
In the earlier rounds GR always throws in a barbed comment. Probably because it stirs things up within one camp or the other. Let's be honest, the show would be pretty flat if we didn't have the various rivalries that tend to crop up. If the blue team had of lost, they would all be looking at Royce as the lame-pony... Once the contestants get within touching distance of the black jacket, GR focusses more on their good accomplishments rather than the errors.

I think the reason Blue Team won was because they had exotic, very unusual ingredients and had to come up wtih a way to make them work, which they did eventually. Red Team - with the exception of Chicory - had traditional staple ingredients to work with, and still fumbled a bit. In a kitchen with a single fumble on either side, the one with the more daring approach can probably have a minor fault overlooked if it isn't potentially dangerous.

Barbie had a few issues early on with fish station but she recovered from those mistakes and yet the red team liked putting all of their problems on Barbie like she was the weakest link. Robyn, Tiffany and Kimmie were the main problems that started drama and constantly messed up in challenges and dinner service. I mean, Tiffany couldn’t even make mashed potatoes or pizza without burning them.

It´s not impossible to use chicken and dragonfruit. I would have done a chicken marinade, and kind of sauce from the dragonfruit, with some lemon, ginger and garlic, maybe some melasses and red chili.
