🎶We can dance if we want to
If we don’t, nobody will
And you can act real rude and totally removed
And I can act like an imbecile🎶
ruclips.net/video/kM-eJ42lmGE/видео.html I watched this quickly and then rewatched this video. Made a lot more sense to see it put together.
The dance was safe. No setting the clock back.
I can't believe I won!!
I love how they wearing medieval clothing and then just like sketchers
Fff CGZ Brian’s wearing Nikes, looks like one of the older pegasus models I think.
What the hell are sketchers
@@lukeverstegen6093 sketchers are children's shoes
@@fffcgz1721 ah right
Also they are wearing clothing from the from the Italian Renaissance, it’s clear because of all of the dye used and the gold brocade.
Don't get me wrong, Anna is great, but is it wrong that I was really really hoping to see Brian and Jason slow dancing with Anthony?
There's still time, if we all band together we can make it happen.
NGL, thought he was gonna be there
"Are they drinking while this is happening?" Jason is always asking the important questions.
Obvious answer though because when are medieval and renaissance people not drinking? At least if you count small beer as drinking.
Even though he said he likes gin and then didn’t like it!
At the beginning Brian is holding himself with noble air naturally and Jason looks like a store mannequin
I took a "Ballet for Swordfighters" class that Anna ran back in February. Great to see her on the show
The next logical step, now that you know renaissance martial arts AND dance, is to learn to play the renaissance lute. It's a bowl shaped, guitar-like stringed instrument, it also the most common household instrument from the 1500's to the 1750's, more or less, it's absolutely fascinating and fits in very well with the theme of this episode. For an expert, I suggest Brandon Acker, an expert on historical plucked instruments and historically informed performance from Illinois, he's got a RUclips channel where he frequently talks about these topics. Great episode! Anna rules too, I look forward to seeing her in future episodes.
I just want to see them attend a local renaissance festival. TRF or Scarborough would be great!
Instructions unclear, am now being publicly executed
Omar Foley i am being publicly humiliated.
@@ReasonAboveEverything So you're Morris dancing then?
Instructions unclear, I'm being worshipped by penguins...
Instructions unclear, made 5 kg of meth
@Andrew Harper But does he know "The Dark Morris Dance".
I love that notation about period appropriate music. Also: The skits in this are top notch.
I LOVE THAT SHIRT I NEED TO BUY IT "Bold words for someone within stabbing distance"
That intro sketch was everything I needed in these trying times.
Have egg🥚🥚🥚
"Sheboygan style shuffle!"
"Wait, doesn't that involve a pool cue? Which episode is this!?!?"
9:56 holy crap that delivery
Jason would be a great movie villain
You make it sound like he isn't normally.
Brian's Milkshake Brings All The Boys To The Galliard
The Early-Modern Rogue.
The Pre-Modern Rogue
I'm furious how good that joke was
Pre-Raphaelite rogue
Just to make sure I got things straight, the dances are the pernod, the galliano, and the vodka, right?
You must be Trever's alter-ego!
YOU BUFFOON! that’s an Italian liquor and a russian spirit. the dances were clearly the gelato and the varnish, right?
It's hilarious how in his relentless efforts to rephrase what the guest expert says, Brian is making analogies to a phenomenon so recent (dancing on Tiktok) that the explanation pretty much works better the other way round
These guys do things that I'm usually totally uninterested with but they make it interesting
I'm glad you guys had these already planned out. I hope quarantine ends before you run out of pre-recorded episodes. Good luck gents
1. I really like her tattoos.
2. I'm glad Anthony was featured but it also would have been funny to watch Jason or Brian try to dance with anna.
3. What in the world shoes are u wearing, jason?
the swagger 4000's
super excited for "The Modern Rogue Learns How to Juke"
I am performing and presenting about renaissance dance, specifically the galliard, for my final exam in Music History! How wonderful to find another example to use!
The only acceptable next upload better be ballroom dancing.
Rogues and gentlemen alike have to know how to dance. In any setting.
Are they going to grow their necks?
17:34 by this point it looks like a dancing puppet, you know, when a doll has dangley felt legs and you kinda just jump it across the ground but when its legs land they splay in awkward directions.
Thank you for getting Jason a decent microphone!!!
I'm watching this wearing the Raycons I ordered after your last video. :) I love 'em.
I know that "this is the break dancing!" Was a joke from Jason but does anyone else wanna see them try to breakdance?
Oh hell yeah. Now this is proper gentlemanly.
Brian’s knee-transfer abilities warrant a “good god” even today
"Imagine having kumquats in your armpits"
-Brian pretends to have basketballs in his armpits
God I love this channel, and especially all of these videos with the austin historical weapons guild, watching these 2 figure out weapons and dancing has been amazing
This show keeps getting weirder and weirder.... and its epic XD
What an incredibly interesting video. I have no intention or want to ever dance in front of anyone, but just learning about this history is strangely captivating.
Classic rock puns in a video about Renaissance dancing. . .
I love it
one of my favorite intros so far. Nice one :)
I have to say, i really love you guys for the bed of roses and baron bonjiovi in the beginning XD
The skits in this episode are just great!
Finally I'll be able to use my Renaissance clothing to its fullest potential.
The best way to "present" during medieval dancing is to imagine you're wearing an imaginary cloak (unless you're actually wearing one, then you're all good). It gives you a regal bearing.
Got my Raycons a while back and they're amazing got the E-55's in gold and used your code!
Silas T Weet I thought you said raccoons and needless to say I’m disappointed.
@@thelincolnrepairguy1826 wow, I am too now. Racoons would be sick!
@@TukWest well, hopefully not
Now i want to see Brian and Jason waltzing around together
How many bad Bon Jovi/Motley Crue puns did they squeeze in there in the first segment?
The Meme on her T Shirt TOTALLY kicks this up to 11.
"It's like George R R Martin finished a book!!!" you guys rock.
The Modern Rogue makes my breeches tight
"I haveth invented a new dance for thee. 'tis called The Automaton. Gaze in wonder as I move as if a were a mechanical person!"
I need to move to Austin so I can take ALL the classes at Anthony’s studio. I’ll just camp out front!
I loved the inserts in this eps. Brilliant
Awesome to see this after transcribing pavans and galliards into modern notation all semester!
I shall be adding "A thundercloud emanating from a falcon's screech" to mt repertoire hahaha
And as usual I have now learned something about a topic I never thought to consider. Interesting stuff.
Also, I kinda dig the skit that was shown throughout this episode. Any chance we could maybe see more stuff like that? Curious to see what you come up with on different episodes.
The BloodGuard shield in the back... excellence in all things.
I gotta say, Jason looks BADASS in his costume
Is it bad that I want to see Jason do a book-shelf tour?
i like that we keep getting closer and closer to their faces each advert
You know... I think the solitude was getting to them before the quarantine even started
4:11 thank you for writing it in sans serif at the bottom
also that acting was so good it's great
This is not what I want, but what I need. Thank you
Brian's silly little jokes about not remembering the names of things are actually a mnemonic device he uses to help him remember the names of things.
Thankyou for making this quarantine less miserable. :)
This was far more interesting than i thought it would be.
Love when Brian breaks out the Herman Munster laugh :)
If that intro was improv it was 12/10 and on this day you gentlemen have won the internet.
All of the rock allusions and puns😂😂 well done guys!
Need her tank top
I too require a shirt with that message, as soon as I learn how to use a sword
@@tuesdaywithanh stabbing range doesn't have to be a sword... Home made knife too.
@@jckdnls9292 you are correct, a homemade knife will do in a pinch, however, I prefer learning to use a sword. Purely because it's flashier.
@@tuesdaywithanh And increased stabbing range.
@@SmokeyEdits that is also true. An additional benefit I hadn't thought of.
Oh, those Hair Metal references in the intro XD
It’s crazy that I can see the continuity between Renaissance and traditional Irish and American dances.
For those wondering as I've seen alot wanting her shirt try Look Human
I took ballet for 3 years when I was younger in primary school and it took me until the middle of high school to stop standing with my feet together, About 10 years.
For all that it was important to dance well and present well at court, especially during court entertainments (masques), these were not always well structured affairs, especially into the early 1600's (James I's reign). Contemporaneous accounts state that the nobility taking part in the scripted presentations and plays prior to the general dancing were often drunk or inept, and there was squabbling for social precedence, and other slights
www.hrp.org.uk/banqueting-house/history-and-stories/the-masque
Slightly surprised that the Modern Rogue didn't pick up on this point.
On the other hand, dancing well could ease the way into preferment at court, e.g. in Elizabeth I's reign, Sir Christopher Hatton was noticed by the Queen for his dancing, and was helped on his way, eventually becoming Chancellor (effectively the head of the executive parts of Elizabeth's government, not that the separation is formalised in the way it was for the US).
Man I am glad that I learned about those cheese knees. I almost did that the other night.
This was awesome! A very nice history lesson :)
Why does Anna have no social media handles 😩😩😩 I need more of her in my life
You can find me at fearlessnymph.com!
Anna McGarry Woot! Thanks!
I really want that tanktop
Well it is buyable... look human
Ah we can dance if we want to, we can leave your friends behind
Cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance
Well, they're are no friends of mine.
Great video my dudes, I feel like you would have more views if you had more catchy thumbnails. Keep up the good work guys ^^
I just saw this in a tv show, Borgia: Faith and Fear. It reminded me of the modern day pimp walk.
I love all those 80s/early 90s music references 😅👍
Brian straight flexin with that X32 at the end sponsor spot god damn
Oh, man. We love it so much.
this was just on cue, today i got really mad abt covid-19 bc theres a possibility of quarantine continuing into october and then i wouldnt be able to go to renfest. thank you rogues
Loyal subscriber here just saying i do greatly enjoy yalls vidgas yes vidgas hah
oh my god. lmao. i lost it at the shoes. legitimately lost it. haha
Okay but when are we gonna get a kumquat-in-the-armpit trick scam school episode?
Timetraveler: *Goes back in time to the Renaissance, to see their awesome dance moves*
Timetraveler who sees Renaissance dancing: Mm...Interesting.
Drunken Knight: Deus Vult
I'm not sure what Brian's doing or why he needs an X32 mixer for it but I'm intrigued.
This was beautiful.
Lord Motley Crue and Baron Bon Jovi. Name a more iconic duo
This show is the perfect nicotine patch for all my deep man child desires and I love it, I love it so much ❤️❤️❤️
I love the title change
oh my heck so many rock and roll refrences my heads spinning!!!! hahahahaha
I don't know if anyone's ever suggested this but you should do a video on hats.
Ya, I thought that was a good suggestion lol
I could see the look on Brian's face. He wanted to make an Arya Stark's "Dancing Master" joke.
Oh the amount of bon jovi references in this video
Finally, some justification for my D&D inspired Jason/Brian slashfic! Dialogue was much better written, however.
Holy fuck, finally historical dancing with the Modern Rogue! Y'all should try English Country Dancing and medieval dances.
By God, it annoys me to no end when I get the cheese-knees, such a pain within the neck.
Samson and The Chooch go undercover at the Renaissance festival
I LOVE HER TEE SHIRT!!!
Jason's DnD experience came through in the beginning.
3:54 Your knee transfer needs work, Jason. Someone taught you wrong lol. Watch how Brian does it.
‘It’s like George R R Martin finished a book’... genius
