WATCH OUT! This is a 3d animation, but I have seen sites online claiming to sell these music boxes. Do not buy, they are not real.
This is a music box tribute to the great film by Hayao Miyazaki, Ponyo. I wanted to add various elements from the film, such as the moon being pulled close to the earth as well as the Father in his submarine chasing after the little fish girl, Ponyo. It's a great film, with great music by Joe Hisaishi

This one looks much more complicated than the Totoro cat bus I saw. It's almost breaking my brain trying to comprehend how all the elements are moving. I'm just accepting it as magic to save myself from further strain.

I just figured out that this is 3d animation, I really thought that this was an actual thing, plus there was no rain drops when it's shown in a far view..

What application do you use for the animation of the musical boxes?
Almost all Blender (free at Blender.org). Sometimes I do some simulations in Houdini, though.

Sorry! It's a 3D animation meant to look real. You should check out the studio Ghibli store or Studio Ghibli Museum in Japan. Amazing stuff there. Also, I think I have seen studio ghibli music boxes online, but they don't move unfortunately. Great songs though
