Dignified elegance! Understated luxury! The ultimate sports watch!
WOW, what a ticking beauty the new ODYSSEUS is! I love its total independent design and the fact that A. Lange & Söhne developed the L155.1 DATOMATIC movement with a new & unique weekday indication.
I had the ODYSSEUS on my wrist, the watch fits perfectly and it looks really cool.
Well, now I am very curious to read your comments and to discuss the ODYSSEUS with you.
In brief this is what you need to know about the new A. Lange & Söhne sporty-elegant watch:
The new ODYSSEUS is a watch for people who admire fine watchmaking but live active lives.
The design of the stainless-steel case with a diameter of 40,5 millimeters and a height of 11,1 millimeters, featuring an integrated stainless-steel bracelet, embraces traditional A. Lange & Söhne brand elements and reinterprets them.
This applies particularly to the sculpted, slightly cantilevered middle band of the three-part case. Its surfaces are decorated with a satin contour finish and the edges are emphasized with a chamfer.
The combination of brushed surfaces and chamfered edges is echoed on the lugs and links of the massive stainless-steel bracelet. Specially sealed, tapered buttons for correcting the date and the day of week are arranged at 2 and 4 o’clock.
The new ODYSSEUS is the first A. Lange & Söhne watch with a water-resistant case and a screw-down crown. The watch is guaranteed waterproof up to 120 meters.
Movement: A. Lange & Söhne manufacture calibre L155.1 DATOMATIC, self-winding, crafted to the most exacting A. Operating elements: Screw-down crown for winding the watch and setting the time; two buttons for correcting the day of week and date.

Movement dimensions: Diameter: 32.9 millimeters; height: 6.2 millimeters

I expect A. Lange & Söhne to manufacture 300 - 400 ODYSSEUS per year.
Today, A. Lange & Söhne has five watch families:
LANGE 1
SAXONIA
1815
RICHARD LANGE
ZEITWERK
The ODYSSEUS is the new face that introduces a sixth watch family. I wish @alangesoehne the best of luck for its new ticking superstar!
I’m thoroughly impressed that Lange managed to create an entirely new luxury sports watch that manages to be pure A. Lange and Sohne (especially on the dial), without being derivative. As a Lange fan, I honestly love the aesthetics of the case and dial.
It’s not perfect, unfortunately. For such a large (and new) movement, a 50h PR is the absolute bare minimum, and I wish it had at least 60h instead (still infinitely better than the 38h standard still found on many JLC). I do appreciate it having a full balance bridge, considering it’s sporty nature.
The bracelet is also definitely not perfect. For one thing, it’s not actually integrated, which I don’t mind in and of itself, but I’m honestly not a huge fan of the aesthetics, either of its overall 5-link design, or the way the endlink fits with the lugs (especially as it’s supposed to be integrated. Zenith’s Defy manages to look much more integrated using the same system). I do appreciate the adjustable clasp however; not quite as elegant as the Overseas, but arguably more useful day-to-day, and better than everyone else in this category (although it does feel a little derivative of IWC and GO).
The one advantage of standard lugs is that this will almost certainly look excellent on a strap, and I hope that Lange introduces both leather and rubber straps. If this was on a rubber strap, it would absolutely blow the Aquanaut away, and if Lange doesn’t introduce one themselves, the standard lug design makes finding one aftermarket a breeze.
Finally, I hate to be someone who complains about the price (there’s always some idiot that insists it should only cost $15K, or even less), but it really shouldn’t cost more that $25K (I’m inclined to say $23K would be perfect), as $28K puts it too close to the Nautilus compared to the Royal Oak or Overseas, and the Nautilus is already the more overpriced of the big three at retail. The good news is, as it’s a Lange, once some of the hype dies down and it becomes more available, it will almost certainly be available discounted well below $25K (a future version on a strap would probably also be a few grand cheaper, hopefully).
Overall, it’s unable to knock the VC Overseas from its perch as my grail watch (and personal favourite in this category), but it has managed to slot itself into second place ahead of the Nautilus, Laureato, and Royal Oak (in that order).
Interesting read! Thank you very much for sharing...
For the first impression I’m positively surprised. It usually takes a bit to become comfortable with a new design.
The Royal Oak and Nautilus weren’t hyped right from the beginning as well.
So, I’m curious how it’ll feel in person, when the Lange boutique will have it...
Beautiful. I can’t wait to see it in person. Very original in its design, which is refreshing and courageous. I can’t wait to learn more about this piece. As usual, the back of the case is insanely gorgeous.
Go and try to see the Odysseus asap in real and put it on your wrist ... You will be even more amazed!
WatchAdvisor The reviews on RUclips are mixed but that’s not a surprise. I think this watch will be very well received by those who can actually afford it.
This is a fantastic beginning to Lange's entry into the Sport Watch realm. I can see them working within this structure and offering a Pilots Watch, a GMT, a Chrono, and potentially a diver. In addition to adding different dials later down the road. The Lange DNA is all over that piece.
Being able to add a rubber strap and leather strap will just add to the appeal and showcasing the effortless range it will offer. This is a gorgeous piece, cant wait to see the maturation of the piece and the segment through its life cycle.
ICY MIKE Totally agree
The Odysseus is “only” the start for the sixth collection of Lange. Just imagine what one can do with the two perfectly integrated push pieces ... Alternatives in bracelets will come, even versions in gold/titan/platinum I think ... The watch will be a huge success so now let’s hope that Lange can manufacture the projected annual quantities and slowly increase capacity...
@@WatchAdvisorI wouldn't mind them keeping precious metals away from this line. Unless it is going to be a Hublot-esq ceramic gold. Something robust and striking. But gold for gold sake? Please, show some originality and restraint.
I don’t know if a pilots watch would fit into the Odysseus line, but I’m one of many that would love to see ALS revive its WWII Flieger watches, and this line may indicate a shift in direction (or at least a willingness to divert from only dress watches) that could make that possible in the future.
This watch is a strong candidate for the perfect one watch collection.
It's a very strong candidate for being the new luxury sports watch for decades...
@@WatchAdvisor I just emailed my local boutique to schedule a visit. =] Knowing Lange, it will look and feel much better in hand than any videos and photos can.
@@kiattipoomkiatkawsin9823 You will be amazed! Let me know what you think after you had the first touch and feel...
Kudos Lange! It is really a bit new to see the traditional Lange elements in such a package. But this will become iconic for sure.
George Beckford Love your comment!
This is Lange. I was worried, but they prevailed. Congratulations!
I am sure A. Lange & Söhne will very much appreciate your comment when team reads through here ....
I love this watch for one very simple reason: magnificent clarity. The weekday complication at 9 o'clock is most impressive. Well done, gentlemen.
I will pass one the compliment... Thank for sharing with us!
I like the Odysseus even more than the Nautilus and Royal Oak. Too bad I can't afford any of them.
Thank you for presenting to us this Masterpiece. I am also speechless. I love A. Lange & Söhne.
You really can be speechless when you take the entire project and watch under consideration... A huge step for A. Lange & Söhne!
To be honest. This watch beats the AP royal for me and also the Nautilus.
When I first heard about the sporty Lange I was like. Omg ! What did they do!
But they made all perfect. It’s a real Lange.
Peter meter Peter, this exactly what I experienced. When I first heard about the project I immediately shouted out: please no PP and/or AP copy-paste watch. When I then last week saw the watch I was positively surprised since I did not expect the Odysseus look like this. Lange has designed a watch with a strong character. It will take some time until the new design will be accepted and also understood. Never mind! There will be early adopters for sure... With an estimated production of 300 - 400 pieces a year the Odysseus will be a super exclusive, luxury, sporty-ELEGANT wristwatch ... Not a watch to show off, but a watch for connaisseurs who prefer noblesse and understatement ...
WatchAdvisor I think it’s also amazing that it is possible to wear a Lange now as a every day watch. I mean it’s not like u could jump into the pool with a 1815 or do some other activities. The only Lange I would maybe call a little casual is a Chrono in the Lange collection.
And I also know now what it is that I love so much about the Odysseus. It is that it can’t be recognised that fast. The Royal Oak same as the Nautilus have very Special Cases. Every collector can recognise them from 50m distance. But try that with the Odysseus! It’s totally under the radar. I love that fact. Like no one will notice what it is.
A gentlemen watch. Nothing for Dandy’s.
But at the moment I’m thinking of a JLC Master control date. The 2017 version with the 2 color dial. I am just 25 and finished my first year of work. I have this watch in my mind since the last 2 years of Uni.
The Odysseus maybe in 20 years 😂.
(Depends on how fast I will become CEO)
Peter meter nice read thanks for sharing! Go for your well deserved JLC! That’s a fantastic watch, especially the version you are looking for... May the Master always show you happy seconds, minutes and hours... And Peter, work hard since once infected by the watch virus 🦠 you will need some money in the future to “fight” against 😂 And, you don’t need to wait until you become a CEO to buy an Odysseus ... Come on! If you have any questions let me know, feel free to write and/or contact me...
You are one of a kind.
This watch has grown on me. The more I thought about the bracelet situation, the more I realized something. If you put a leather strap on this watch, it would make for a nice dress watch.
agreed
Lange should in fact offer an alternative to wear it. That won’t be the case with the first watch of the Odysseus collection but could be the case in the future starting with the line extension...
I agree. The case and dial are excellent, but there’s something just a little bit off about the bracelet (I think it’s the imperfect integration between the lugs and endlink), although it does seem to look better on the wrist and in video than it does in still photos.
Thankfully, it’s use of standard lugs means it’s just waiting to be worn like every other ALS, which is on a strap. I think this will look absolutely amazing on either leather or rubber (a waterproof leather strap w/ rubber lining would be perfect).
Great design , definitely a gentleman's sports watch , very representative of ALS DNA.
As mentioned in my description of the video: Dignified elegance! Understated luxury! The ultimate sports watch!
I thought I was gonna hate this but I don't 😭 hat tip to the designers and engineers
Warm up your credit cards 💳😉
Looking forward to seeing this in person - very happy that this does feel like it’s a Lange and definitely doesn’t scream genta homage like some other recent offerings from other brands. The bracelet doesn’t wow initially with a slightly dated look but could be something that grows on you. This could be the ultimate stealth piece ...
"ultimate stealth piece" ... Love this expression! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
WatchAdvisor thank you for your review! How does it wear? I actually wondered if 40.5mm might be a bit small - I tried an 1815 up/down (39mm) and it just felt lost on my wrist - beautiful though. The Zietwerk Striking time looked fabulous - a world away in price... Another quick question - have you seen any lume photos?
Did not know Walter White also liked Watches!
Yes, me looking like the actor Bryan Cranston... I wasn’t aware of the fact until some of you started posting about Walter White ... Well yes, Walter White likes watches... 😉
@@WatchAdvisor Good to know.. You are the one who WINDS 😝
@@WatchAdvisor i think that’s a very good compliment, they should have chose you for your fantastic accent too 😁
@@Guenounovitch my mother tongues are German and French… My specific English vocabulary for our videos is getting better and better … my accent … well I think I’ll keep it … 😆😜
Thank you for the video. It really helps to highlight how much work goes into making this a special piece. At first I saw a pic and though "yeah ok, it's a Lange" but when you watch the video you can really dive deep into the details. The hands, the large day indicator, the movement all special. But perhaps where you really see how this is a Lange is in the markers at 3 and 9. Small little double indices with as much detail as anything else on the watch. really really impressive.
Gavin G You are very welcome Gavin! It’s a pleasure for me to read that I could deliver what you wanted to see... Still a video stays a video and so I hope you will be able to very soon get your touch and feel with the Odysseus... If you any additional questions let me know...
That movement is absolutely gorgeous ❤️
ALS offers the very best surface finishings of the industry ... you will hardly find something nicer... Every movement is assembled twice... A lot, lot manual work is involved...
Very cool. Pushers are super unique. The fact that they are water resistant is even cooler. Balance bridge is beautiful.
Imagine what these well designed and perfectly integrated pushers will do in the future, since this Odysseus “only” marks the launch of an entire collection. Chronograph, UTC/GMT, ...
For me I think they might have nailed a slow burner, one that will age well and grow in popularity. Also I’m sure in person this watch and it’s details are something that pictures and videos have a hard time capturing.
Always difficult to capture what you would see when enjoying a touch and feel with the Odysseus. I encourage you to go and see the Odysseus in real... could be dangerous for your credit card though... 😉
This does seem to be the best recent case of a watch that looks noticeably better on the wrist and in video than it does in stock press photos. I wouldn’t be surprised if it looks even better in the metal (although most watches do).
I absolutely love it! It'ss sporty and still has that bold & elegance look of A Lange & Söhne, ever since they have been teasing it on their Instagram I'm so excited that they finally revealed it
The point is: That's a unique design and not the next Gerald Genta lookalike ...
Excellent video Alexander! You're the first to show it on video! Not as much flair as Lange's other creations but it is still lovely overall. I'm glad it's more unique and not "me-too" like so many other brands. Hopefully it'll be a success. Size is perfect too.
The Odysseus is the perfect ticking luxury "SUV" for the wrist ... Perfect understatement and unique design... That's what you want when you spend 28.000 Euro
@@WatchAdvisor is it a screwdown crown Alexander? I don't think that was mentioned.
@@alectang1614 Yes it is mentioned in the video and also in my description of the video
@@WatchAdvisor AH.. my apologies. Excellent!
It's just an amazing DNA. Instead of ripping off, Lange used their own brand DNA to create something new and stunning. 👍 This watch might not be loved by everyone immediately but will become iconic!
There is nothing to add. Thanks for summarizing the way you did. I couldn’t agree more...
Wow, what a gorgeous piece. Perfect size for a sports watch
Thanks god this one is not “just another Genta-ish sporty steel watch”!
Yes! That's exactly the point! The Odysseus design is unique and full of character. The big weekday indication a worlds first ....
Phenomenal release. Love how they used their own traditional design elements in the watch, instead of outsourcing it to a designer, resulting in watches that have nothing to do with the brands history like the Royal Oak or Nautilus - they resembled nothing the brand stood for. They only did it because their house burned in the Quartz Crisis.
Love your comment! Very true what you write!!!
Great 'scoop' Alexander. Honestly it was the best coverage of this release, including Hondikee's. 👏👏👏
Vielen herzlichen Dank, as we say here in Vienna. I just stepped out to breath some fresh air during the break of a really good and funny cabaret program and saw this! Thank you very much!! You made my day!!!
Looks good, Alexander! If there's one thing Lange is known for, it's that they continuously learn from every watch they make. Looking forward to where Lange will go in the future!
Thats a unique design and not another lookalike ... We have seen to many of them, even recently coming from famous Swiss brand...
Goodbye Nautilus!
I don't think so
Angus McIntosh
The Nautilus is ugly as sin.
SL
Hello douche bag.
Great interview Alexander! Awesome content. This watch is very nice. Would love to buy the blue dial if I could get one! WOW!!!Hats off to your Alexander for this interview!!
Thank you very much!!! George I tried to pack in all your questions and thoughts you might have when watching the video. If you watch it from A to Z and if you read the description of the video no questions should be left ...
The price is right. Because if they make it 10 k euro. It would ruin the reputation of the lange. Lange needs to play in its price range. People buy luxury for being expensive not good. That's why the more expensive a sport watch is the better it is in that segment... that's why some people chose royal oak over the sub. Not cuz sub is worse, everybody know it's better in every regard, but because royal oak is more expensive. I think with time people will appreciate this watch a lot. Much more than the nautlaus or royal oak. However right now I would still take the date just 41 smooth on jubille and 37 saxonia thin.
Thanks for sharing you thoughts with us!
@@WatchAdvisor and thank you for sharing us this video and thank you for the effort that you have put into making that video
Stunning! Looks just amazing. I even dig the brecelet. It transforms it into a Gentleman's sport watxh.
It is in fact not the watch for rappers, boxers and boneheads wanting to show off ... It is dignified elegance, understated luxury, the ultimate sports watch!
Thank you for your time and professionalism . Perhaps not the watch the " fanboys " wanted , however ALS design language and genetics are clear and present ... as it should be . Congrats on being the first to pronounce " oday - syce " correctly , you have established the industry standard ;)
Pronouncing the watch correctly was the easiest exercise to do. I wished I had some more time to film more details...
Beautiful interpretation of a sport watch of course is an A Lange & Sohne, Great watch!
A. Lange & Söhne: 'Yo, check out our all new dress.. uhm sports watch on a bracelet that we have spent fifty-nine years on developing it!'
Audience: 'rUbBeR sTrAp?'
It's a great release, it is unique and different. It looks awesome on the wrist. Kudos Lange! Chapeau! Great release.
Daniel F. Daniel, thank you for the positive feedback! Yesssss, ALS dared! And yesssss this is a great release!
amazing video you guys broke the internet!
Did we? 😉
Look at the level of finishing! The blue screws, the platinum rotor, the decoration of the movement, the Geneva stripes and I think I saw a swan neck regulator! I don't know how you can get on Lange for this watch. This is special!
It’s what you my expect when you buy a watch in this luxury league ...
Who cares when nobody will see it!!
Nice watch. Love the big digits and letters. I personally don't like metal bracelets but it's ok. I however can't remember seeing an A Lange with metal bracelet before.
That's in fact the very first A. Lange & Söhne watch with a metal bracelet...
@@WatchAdvisor I see. Good that they're going into new territories.
Not so, Alexander, Lange have made bracelets for clients previously.
You can see some examples on Chrono24.
Very attractive watch! ♥️🥰🔥🔥🔥 Looks very different from the crowd.
Couldn’t agree more!
I think it's superb, the case is sized perfectly, and the dial has Lange DNA all through it, and the bracelet is designed to look integrated but is not, brilliant.
As recommended before try to get the Odysseus on your wrist...
@@WatchAdvisor If I had enough money I'd have one on both wrists.
Wow! Brilliant watch! I want one!
Many thanks Alexander for showing the first time the new Lange Sports. Really the watch looks much better in your review. It's been truly an honor.
Thank you very much for the kind feedback! You definitely have to see the watch on a (your) wrist. Only then you can make up your mind...
Thanks for the detailed and timely video Alex. It's what I'd expect from ALS keeping their core DNA while looking in a different direction.
I'm sure the will be a number of critical comments but in time I think the it will be accepted as a tasteful interpretation of a luxury sports watch. I suspect ALS knows their customer base better then we do.
ALS nailed it with this one. Love it.
Love your comment!
I think if one of Lange's blue leather straps was included, this would be awesome! Sporty if needed, dressy if you want to.
I have told them same. A leather/tissue strap as an option would be gorgeous
They elegantly managed to design a contemporary but unique sportswatch that is not just another poorly-made Nautilus or Royal Oak copy and still keeping the A. Lange & Söhne identity alive.
I really like the design. The overall quality seems to be outstanding.
You said it all! Thank you! And let me confirm the quality is outstanding! I would even say better than the rest of the pack ...
@@WatchAdvisor Looking at the pictures I can only agree. I would even dare to say that the movement is way ahead of the Royal Oak and the Nautilus in terms of finishing and design. Not even mentioning all those knock-offs.
Beautiful, as expected coming out of A Lange & Sohne!
I absolutely love the large date windows on Lange & Sohne watches -I just wished they also believed in a central seconds hand
that's a beautiful,beautiful,beautiful watch!
👌
Okay, thanks Alexander. Looked really awsome. Haha, people can't complain about the design, so they already complain about size and lug to lug without trying it on or even watching the damn video and the wrist shots: 10:00. On the wrist the ODYSSEUS looks even better than just on display!
That's what I have been writing here already a couple of times... The video will give you all information about the Odysseus ...
Gorgeous as usual
Willem Boom Willem thank you very much!
I think its beautiful. Gorgeous watch. Very Lange-like!
I agree! They've done a good job!
What a fantastic looking watch! Thank you so much for giving us the first look at this incredible watch Alexander!
Hehe! It is, it is! Dignified elegance! Understated luxury! The ultimate sports watch!
Wunderbar! Very beautiful and attractive time piece! ⌚😍
Actually “only” a “beautiful and attractive” timepiece, very soon a ticking icon... For me A. Lange & Söhne has done a great job...
Looks stunning. Great one, Lange! Love the new Odysseus! 🤩
The Odysseus is an alternative to all the other luxury steel sport watches... With an unique design ...
I love the dial. In my opinion the case and bracelet need a little time to get used to but i think it will grow on uns ;)
The new design needs time... But I bet the Odysseus will quickly become a new watch icon...
Awesome🔥 *STEEL STUNNER!* 🔥 The ODYSSEUS is my new Grail 🏆 Even dreamed of it last night.
Very cool! You already dreamed about the Odysseus. What an impact!
Could you please not interrupt a person. It's hard to listen to the conversation, and it is a little bit rude.
Mikhail Kan Time was extremely limited when filming the watch one week before its official launch, so I had to fit in as much as I could in this presentation... Sometimes there is no space for epic talking... Sorry! I still hope you liked the video...
@@WatchAdvisor Thanks for reply
Once again, excellent review of an expected novelty.
You’re the first to do so with due credibility.
With the clock in hand, no guesswork from seeing it in three photos.
That makes all the difference.
The watch is beautiful, the caliber is impressive, and although it is not my style, we must give credit to the creators.
They have done something new, without points of support in other icons.
Bravo ! and again, thanks for the video!

Those who were scared of a genta-esque piece can breath easy! This watch is stunning... can you tell us which aspect of the watch first caused you to open your eyes like that when you opened the box? For me of course it was the striking grand day at 9.
Thanks Alexander!
The fact that it is a total new and unique design and the big weekday indication of course...
@@WatchAdvisor yeah the big day is great in that font.
I also love how they archive the integrated bracelet appearance just using the uniquely shaped lugs without actually integrating them as much to the case.
It allows them to make the integrated bracelet look without getting too close to the genta designs!
Amazing placement of the date and date.
Adds a very useful indication and gives the watch a unique, well balanced look...

@@WatchAdvisorTrue!! That's why I said I love the fact it is original :)
Great attemp for the first sport watch for Lange, off cos may not be everybody cup of tea... is unlike those typical hardcore sport watch but more of the gentleman style of sport watch. Is not mandatory that a sport watch must come with a rotating bezel or pump pushers... once u just accept this new design style of with an opened heart, is pretty attractive. If Lange equipped it with those 2 regular items I hv mentioned, I believe many ppls will than say 'is uninspired' 'copy cat' 'no creatively'...... is like AP royal oak when is first released, ppls hated it. But now, seriously sought after. Great effort by Lange, so far everything from them is nothing but GOOD. My grail watch brand.......
Great job Alexander to introduce this long awaited Lange first sport watch!!!!!
thank you very much for sharing your thoughts with us! I do agree with all you wrote. Let me summarize: Dignified elegance! Understated luxury! The ultimate sports watch!
@@@WatchAdvisor
Spot on!!!!!! Love the styling cue Lange have. Always having their on style. This gonna be a hottie.....
It grows on you from the point of dial looks - there is no question it will be right up there with the movement and finishing. They haven’t copied any other well established models from other brands and it’s very symmetrical and it will be easy to set the visible Day - Date with the pushers. I saw this with the Annual Calendar featured in ‘A Week On The Wrist’ with Cara Barrett of Hodinkee. I would’ve liked it larger than 40mm but the narrow bezel means the dial is large like on the AP Code 11:59 unlike minute on sports watches with a rotating bezel. It is thin like Haute Horlogerie movements. But shocked at €28K price tag, but as Anthony De Haas explained its for the movement and a PP MSRP £23,440 3-hand with date Nautilus but unavailable unless a VIP at Grey Dealer for £50K+.
Andrew, thanks for sharing you thoughts with us. The point ist that Lange can’t build such a watch for less money. With all they do, ASE bling the entire movement twice, and with the quality Lange delivers you simply come to such a price. And don’t forget to PP Lange is Avery, very exclusive brand. We are talking a production of > 60.000 watches versus some 6000....
WatchAdvisor that’s a big difference in production Alexander: x10 I see people say development costs of movements are vast. I liked the AP Code 11:59 as well. I remember you saying they assemble the movement and then disassemble it, before building it again. As ADH says, it was developed to be shock resistant with the balance bridge; movement speed and rotor construction and the movement has been made for the case unlike other brand’s models where it is smaller than the case and the date is towards the centre more.
I love the watch and like the brecelet and that it is different! It fits perfectly into the Lange philosophy and used a similar brecelet on the Datograph before. Love it
The watch fits perfectly on the wrist and it looks good on top...

Alexander, another superb video. This is a superb superb watch. I visited Lange in Glashutte a few years ago and have loved the brand before and since. I think the watch looks fantastic, great combination of elegance and sports. Truly awesome.
Beautiful Time Piece! Awesome, Elegant, Engineering, another Perfect Time Piece!
The Odysseus is simply a perfect watch! Since it is still a new watch, its design still needs time to get the appreciation it deserves... But some, just like you, are ahead of time 😉
As Lange FC, it looks good. I have to see and touch before I upgrade to great 👍. It could be the third Lange for me.
Try the Odysseus on your wrist, get your touch and feel and then “protect” your credit card 💳😉
Nice timepiece, it has the Lange look and it accomplished the Sports look. However, for a little bit more you can get a Lange 1, so first time Lange buyers will probably stay away from it.
Beautiful watch, price is off. Below 20K would have competed and surprised the big players... that’s why the street price on Lange is butchered. I really hope I am wrong as I appreciate the company very much.
Many of you wanted to know this: the Odysseus measures 47,2 mm from lug to lug and it’s weight is 151 grams
Thanks
47mm is not bad. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s closer to 50 with those endlinks, but a strap change would make this a very good for smaller wrists, especially compared to the RO and Nautilus.
Geoffrey Pearce 47,2 mm is correct!
The watch looks terrific. I really like it a lot. ✌ thanks so much for the video. I could for sure see myself tryjng to get one.
Cheers
He he! Go for a touch and feel and please let me know what you think. Did you read the description of the video with my additional information? If you have any other questions please let me know!
The watch is very nice but I don’t like the bracelet, too fussy and wide at the lugs. None the less kudos to Lange for not being lazy and just making another homage to the Royal Oak in the vein of GP, Chopard, Bell & Ross etc...
The bracelet is a strong statement and individually designed, not a copy of anything with what we have seen before. So it is in line with what you have been writing about the copies of ... By the way I couldn't agree more!
With the exception of the clasp.
The button's micro-adjustment function was implemented on the discontinued Glashutte Original Sport Evolutions, and Perrelet’s discontinued Seacraft models some years ago.
I have zero problem with Lange copying it, as it’s something that many Nautilus/Royal Oak/Laureato owners would dearly love to have on theirs.
Lange have missed a bit of a trick here though… a rubber strap included.
BoronAlloy yes! Now this watch on a good rubber strap would make it the near perfect multipurpose everyday watch.
stunning piece and, as always, the most thorough discussion available among the press
Tom, thank you for that wonderful feedback! I hope you have very soon the chance to see the Odysseus in real... Let me know if you have any questions ...
@@WatchAdvisor I honestly think you have the best interviews and fact-rich insights! of course as a Swiss expat (originally Vully) I am a little biased :)
Tom Petter That’s so nice! I’ve been reading your comment for a couple of times, I love the wording ... 🙏 very much! Where are you based now?
@@WatchAdvisor Boston area
Boston! Very nice! Then not so far away from good old Europe and in the most European area in the US ...
great video! thanks! your the first channel that covering this new piece. congrats!!
Thank you so much for the positive feedback!
Excellent for all of us that just do not like precious metals timepieces.
Amazing looking piece, it looks the part, beautiful dial and pushers...not sure about the rice style bracelet, it doesn't taper enough in my opinion... . amazing that we got the content today! :)
Roberto you are welcome! The bracelet will perform on your wrist. You need to try the watch on your wrist...
fantastic looking watch! Bravo!
Curious to see what the demand, and more importantly, the supply is for this masterpiece!!! Hope it isn’t an 8 year waitlist by the time I am ready to add a odysseus to my collection!!
The demand will be huge since the A. Lange & Söhne aficionados have been waiting for the watch for a while now. Production estimates are mentioned in the description of the video...
WatchAdvisor just missed that tidbit in the description!!!! Great info!!
@@Zblass You are very welcome!
Sumptuous.
you must of been very excited and well worth the journey.
In fact it is always a special moment to discover a total new watch. I was among a very small group who could see the Odysseus before it’s official launch today... Thrilling in fact!
They've done better than I thought they would good job!
I couldn’t agree more. Thanks for sharing
Looks killer. It maybe in that category of the Nautilus and the Royal Oak but atleast it's not nipping their style, it's has it's own thing going own. If it's tough like a Rolex I'll definitely be considering this as a daily watch.
It is tested to withstand everything a classic Rolex does. So you can wear as a stylish daily watch. And you will for sure not have the problem that you enter a fancy Restaurant and you see everybody wearing a Rolex. How boring is this by the way. It is like going to a Rolex meeting you are not invited to. For me a no-go
@@WatchAdvisor that's pretty sweet. That's the problem with Royal Oaks and Nautilus' is they are delicate or scratch magnets. Definitely might end up with this Lange
Many people say the braclet is ugly. In my opinion, it's not the worst, but it can't be the best.
The Odysseus bracelet is part of the design of the entire watch and gives it lots of “character”... This design is still new and therefore will need more time to get accepted
Beautiful watch!
I like it, the price is a bit steep for a steel watch though. It'll be interesting to see what they'll be selling for on the preowned market in a year or two.
BEAUTIFUL... nothing more to say.
👍
Just classy
Just wow!
