For you that don't know, budae-jjigae (army soup/stew) isn't what they feed their (South Korea) army with.
It comes from the Korean War, where the US would give out rations to the korean. So it's Korea's version of "throw whatever in a pot" type a stew. That's why you see cheese.
In Seoul (when I was living there) they would put kraft singles in it (at bars) because it's a cheap cheese and cheese in Korea is expensive.
And some korean people put american cheese on ramen.
Another odd fact, the reason why they put corn on pizza in most of asia is because cheese is expensive, they use it as a filler for cheese.
I was wondering why they put corn on pizza. Thank you!
Put whatever in a pot hm? So basically me when I'm cooking.
Ironically, they use to put spam in it because it was cheap (an was part of the aforementioned rations). but they don't usually do it now (Speaking strictly in Korea), because actual spam is expensive now. They now use their own version of luncheon meat (or potted meat, as some parts of the world call it), which doesn't taste the same.
mtktm wow so thats what's up with the corn.
The instrumental is fire.
this looks so filling
I literally subscribed to 88rising back when because of Eighty Ate, Singing Spaceships, and the Bartender series. I love the visuals, the ASMR, and the quality content! 😍

THIS is the real definition of foodporn
This is so dam beautiful, wow.
This looks good, but I usually just put gimchi, spam, and sausage in my ramyun. Still taste bomb.
This big dish looks amazing. I wish try to eat a whole pot once in life (of course when i will be starving) :D
FYI if you plan on making this yourself, DON'T use aluminum. utensils or cooking vessel.
The acidity will react with the aluminum and make it taste off. Well this goes for all acidic foods.
It looks so damn tasty, hmmm, wonder if I can find some of those ingredients in my home town :/ or might just have to order it from online, ahhhh my mouth is watering > O
I want some 🙃
Damn,Beat Its so hard
This so sensually filmed it was almost porographic.

Just a heads up. korean restaurants will try to charge you a lot for what is essentially like 10 dollars worth of groceries. MAKE IT AT HOME! :)
Could you guys post the ingredient list at some point in the video or in the description?
rawr
88rising even made things more pretty by putting things in a pot neat
bikin ngilerrrrrrr
v sad that the over the top sound effects are toned down in this video. bring them back :(*
Oh my god.
I thought this was a song I was waiting for the beat to drop the whole time
I need someone to make this for me
good mestres !!!
kia~ jumooooooooo!!
this is some ASMR cooking and i like
actually the Hangul subtitles of the ingredients are very wrong...shiitake mushroom is not 시타케, there's a separate korean word for it: 표고. For half a sheet of kombu, "a half" is not '한' but '반'. It appears they are mixmatching with the japanese words for some strange reason.
im pretty sure the first white powdery ingredient was salt, and the one after was sugar
This is considered Junk sometimes to some. All that calories though. I also thought the cheese is usually mozzarella. I know this instrumental but i forgot the name. Homegirl that is Korean calls it Booty-Jjigae lmao.
what kind of vegetable is that? 2:58
Guys i need to know a channel that does videos exactly like this. Do they exist???

The cities of Uijeongbu and Songtan are famous for their Budae Jjigae. In Uijeongbu, they dont put cheese in Budae Jjigae while Songtan puts cheese! It depends on the restaurants. Not all of restaurants put cheese in it :) but a lot of franchise restaurants follow the method from Songtan.
Potluck Stew?

It is not traditional korea style
현실: 걍 라면끓여먹음
I'm sitting here imagining how my breath would smell after eating that. That's a lot of garlic.
budae-jjigae doesn't use fish sauce. korean cuisine does not have a culture using that sauce.
Okay the cheese kinda fucked me up.
i get that 88rising's audience is mostly english-speakers and there probably aren't that many native koreans, but at least get the basics correct please.
this is my first time watching porn
