- Just a fun little video of me installing and testing my new DCSports SRI. Sound clips are at 8:36
The short ram intakes may not add much power if any to a car, especially a Civic with R18 engine, but it sure does sound good and make the car more fun.
get a true cold air where the piping goes down to the bumper. they are AMAZING on r18 engines. and dw about water or puddles. there is a splash guard underneath the front bumper that doesnt let water in.
Actually theres a hydrophobic filter cover so you can have an airway through the foglight

When I recorded this video, the exhaust was stock. I've since put on a Yonaka catback exhaust.
Is tuning required after installing?

Nope, no problems with the intake after almost a year. I'm still very happy with it
Wouldn't it of been a good idea to get a Heat shield. Cant imagine the damage it could do to your engine.

It was pretty easy, all things considered. A few things were a little tedious, but you can definitely do it.
It does get heat soak easily bro...
I knew that going in. The R18 isn't a good engine for making power anyways. I just did it for the sound. Eventually I'll K swap my car, and when I do that, I'll get a true cold air intake.

With the intake, the engine has more of a deep growl at half to full throttle
does this intake fit in the 9th gens?
I can't say for sure. It's only officially listed to fit the 8th gen civics, but the 8th and 9th gens are very similar in a lot of ways, so it may fit. I do know that DCSports has a cold air intake for the 9th gens with the 1.8L engine. I can't seem to find a short ram intake on their website for the 9th gens though. I think they made one at one point, but it's probably been discontinued. You can still get a short ram for the 1.8L 9th gens from other companies, though.
how does your intake sound
It sounds really good at part and full throttle, really deep and throaty.

No problems so far. I didn't get a tune and haven't had any problems, but if you want to get any power gains, you'd have to get a tune.

Yeah it does, but I'm ok with that

Yeah I got mine on ebay, not sure if they still have them though.
Does the car jolt alittle when you first installed the filter?
I think it did when I first started it up after installing it, but only for a second and it ran perfectly after
@@KingTurkeySub did the check engine light also come on because mine did when I put a short ram in but I mean it still came on when I put a proper cold air intake in

@@KingTurkeySub I mean it's probably because maf is reading different air level compared to what it was supposed to read that's my theory anyways, but yeah my engine light came on

Not sure if I gained hp but the throttle response is definitely better and the sound is nice 👍
