Doesn't work for me. I turned off all the notifications, but McAfee still wants to sell me stuff.
I no it might be to late by now , but look for it in notifications under 2NTRFI, and turn that off. hope that helps .

if you have pc-store try to uninstall the pc-store coz its suggesting you some antivirus to install. it works for me even though i never install mcafee just went pc store and tried to look for some anti virus think in the store and installed windows defender from the store then that ads keep popping up for mcafee. so i tried removing pc store and it works.
i have this problem even though i never insalled mcafee in my pc still pop up is coming then i uninsalled pc store and the ads never pop up but you gave me a hint how. pc store i check for some availabl anti virus and installed windows defender then the mcafee ads keep popping up so i just uninstalled pc store.
So, my case is a bit different, I'm getting McAfee ads from my Opera GX browser rather than McAfee itself. What do I do in this case?
I followed everything you suggested but still have found the source of the McAfee pop ups. I didn't see anything with McAfee listed.

When ever I have deleted a program in the past I have found files that have been left over via File Explorer. I then delete them and if I cant I then open them and delete and keep opening the ones I can't delete to the bitter end. There are some files that can not be deleted although the vast majority have been. Not take much time. Is it best to also used these methods also or perhaps 1st? Thanks

i almost try to reformat my pc because of the ads quite annoying coz you can't remove it from your face if you click it it will show another popup till finally your able to close that dialogue box.
It was a fake ad but it worked with deep thanks and gratitude x

Dude try this . Go to your chrome settings , privacy and security, site settings, and then turn off notifications and pop ups from official mcafee site . It worked for me . Wait i will link a vid for explanation. It's not in english ,but u will get it

When I toggled off the Google Chrome notifications, the McAfee pop-ups disappeared and stopped coming.

A way this can happen is going to this website that says allow notifications if you are not a robot then after a few minutes it happens
