In a recent McAfee update, they removed the option to disable the information alerts (under McAfee - Settings - General Settings - Information Alerts) The checkboxes are no longer there. I got online with their support, and they said "unfortunately there is no way to turn those off" I told them to give feedback to their design & development teams to bring that option back, as those notifications are very intrusive. Why are they trying to constantly trying to upsell when I already have a product that is supposedly "Total Protection"?
I'm glad you posted about there being no checkboxes under Info Alerts anymore. It's so damned irritating that we can no longer decide what info alerts come up. If they aren't going to let us do it, I'll switch to some other protection come renewal time. I should just use the default Windows protection, my work computer does and it has no issues *touch wood*.
@@moosuch1 I've removed the app from my computer but I keep getting the pop ups. There's even a link in small print at the bottom of the pop that gives you the option to stop seeing the pop up. I clicked it and still got the pop up a little while later.
I am curious to know how and why this came yo after years of not using it. Cant delete it is its hidden, What the F^%%$#!!!!!

click on the settings next to the right corner x to exit, it will let you block mcafee popups, there's never 'no way to get rid of something' you just have to keep looking.

this did not work for me at all. McAfee was not in my settings and when I opened it and went to turn off notifications, it did not allow that as an option.

I don’t have mcafee on my pc. I deleted it because I have a new security. But it’s not in my notifications settings. I want to get rid of these pop ups because when I try to exit it, it takes me to the web installer. I DELETED IT FOR A REASON. it also changes my search engine automatically. I need this fixed. They definitely installed some type of malware on my computer. This isn’t right

The very first step went well - I clicked on Settings, then Notifications and turned off McAfee. But in step two, I ran into this problem when I clicked on the "^" icon. I clicked on "McAfee" and the window opened up, but there was no settings icon on the left side. I suppose this was removed because my version had already expired? What now? Do I just skip this step and go on to the Google Chrome browser steps and keep going? Thanks!

help! when i click on "Extensions" i dont see the McAfee and in Settings "privacy and security" i dont see it there either and I am still getting these annoying pop-ups!

McAfee no longer has a settings gear icon when you lose your subscription. the only option is to uninstall it IOT remove W11 pop-ups. (I had it set to not run on start up and also removed notifications on W11, but still got pop-ups)

bro just uninstall the app this app itself installs... brings virus in ur pc and asks u to buy the subscriptn n at the worse case u will have to format ur pc so just get rid of it
there is a "settings" beside the x to exit the popup on the right of the popup, click on that and it will let you block mcafee popups.

Just do a full scan after that you should still get pop us then delete all your history then you should be good

you should be getting a settings thingy next to the right corner x to exit the popup, click on that and you can block the popups.

Everyone wondering how to get rid of "virus" popup ad you can stop the service and remove the McAfee files under Program Files (may vary on laptops). This is how i got rid of it.

I DONT HAVE MCAFFE, BUT SOMEHOW THE NOTIFICATIONS APPEAR TO ME
I literally don't even have the product. And yet, I still get bombarded with pop-ups of, "renew!" and "your subscription has ended" and somehow, it still pops up with a "scanning..." whenever I download things. Like wtf Don't know how that happens.

I do not have McAfee installed. I cannot delete what is not installed. Yet the pop-ups arrive every 30 seconds...
yeah youtube wasnt the first thing i tried doing i thought if i just deleted it it would go away
had the same problem, click on the settings emoji next to the x to exit the popup and that will let you block the popups. they're so annoying I complained and reported mcafee to no avail.

I just banned notifications uninstalled google then re installed n enabled it n it was okay after

DO NOT USE McAFEE antivirus in windows 11. It is the worst! After you get it working (that will take hours) on windows 11 OS it will not Update. It gives you an error that states that the problem is on their side and to try again. Contacting customer was useless. They tried to remove the service but could not, that was with escalation to the top. Finally after hours on line, they were able to remove the files by deleting them one by one and then removing the registry entries. DO NOT USE THIS.

Best method: uninstall McAfee
For anyone that’s having the pop ups without the app being downloaded just delete your history and when you go to notification in your window settings it should say a website linked with the pop ups search the website and block it and it will be fixed no more pop ups and no more showing up in notification
