    I think something that might be really useful would be heavy sandbag training, since these judo athletes have to throw people around. That would also give them massive core and grip strength, with an incredibile stability.

    How does the program based on these fundamentals look like with twice a day judo? Sounds like a lot of training. Given that judo already has a lot of explosiveness in the technique training itself and a lot of grip strength and power, and judo specific endurance from let's say 20 rounds of randori in a row. And then you'd want to do cleans and squats and pulls like rows and pullups too.

    Is there actually a difference between power and explosiveness?

    • @chrisg1772
      @chrisg1772 7 месяцев назад +5

      Of course. Think of the last time you had an explosive shit and them compare it to the last time you had a powerful shit. Two very different experiences

    No love for kettlebells? They will not develop us much brute strength as olympic lifting but they are certainly the king of strength endurance and core development.

      For most folks, good luck finding a kettlebell heavier than 10 kilos - and judoka live on generating as much torque and energy as possible in the snap of a finger - less so than repeated patterns which kettlebell training tends to be better for. Sandbags are a good and cheap alternative (polypropylene or canvas if you really want to ghetto it out) and are likely to be more specific amongst implements that centralize the weight. (A judoka would do well manhandling a man sized sandbag made with iron fillings)

    Let me fix a big chunk of that with fun... make rock climbing another one of your pursuits ! There is a massive amount of crossover and you don't have to come up with wildly interesting and cool workouts it's all right there in front of you... good luck
