The United States fought in Vietnam for 10 years and shit itself, and what a precedent there was! But suppose you say that it was a very long time ago, what about special operations in the Middle East? In Iraq alone, the United States fought for 10 years, and barely managed to suppress the country, sending it into the Stone Age with heavy bombs and rockets on residential neighborhoods. This is the first real combat experience for the Russian army, the USSR and Afghanistan do not count, since they are different countries and different doctrines of war.
@@gillkitsarevich4161 yYou have a very selective take on history. Vietnam counts but not Afghanistan that started later and had more people relevant to that conflict alive/in positions of power today. Let's compare the American puppet state of Iraq to the Russian puppet state of Syria, I know which is more stable and one I'd like to live in. People used to say Russia is better at the fighting because it dosen't need to deal with a free press and public opinion but America's better at the rebuilding of economies after the war ( see West Germany (europe) vs East Germany (europe) South Korea vs North Korea, Japan vs Poland) butwe can now see even the military part isn't true anymore. You have Russia's failure in Libya when all the cards were in your hands Haftar was at the gates of the capital yet you snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Let's also not forget that despite the Afghanistan and iraq conflicts something you described as a bad operation, the US lost 1/3 as many men in 40 years there as Russia has in 3 months in Ukraine despite 1. both those countries being on the other side of the planet making logistics that much harder than in Ukraine 2. speaking entirely different languages from the local population 3. the US actually succeeding in taking both countries whereas Russia has taken what Kherson and Mariupol Ukraine's 10th and 16th largest cities?
@@willgreen9861 Afghanistan, like Vietnam, are either considered the largest observer of the armies of the USSR and the USA, or we turn a blind eye to them, what is your opinion about this?. You wrote that it was difficult for the United States to supply the war in Iraq, which seems to be absolute nonsense against the background of US military bases around the world, besides Saudi Arabia was nearby. Regarding the losses; the USA had an absolute advantage, the Abrams against the T-62, the Raptors against the migs of the 60s. Russia did not have such an advantage, and with the beginning of Lend lease, even more so, and do you really think that Ukraine's losses are less? Even according to Western data, about 6,000 Ukrainian prisoners of war are claimed. I am not an absolute defender of Russia, there is simply catastrophic corruption in our army, and the generals are bandits from the 90s who served in the army who now send 18-year-olds to die on cruisers and in the trenches.
@@gillkitsarevich4161 I'm sorry but i'm not sure I understand your first question about afghsnistan and Vietnam being large observers? American Logistics were helped by allies sure but you gotta admit It's easier to train something by train from Belgorod to Kharkiv than to fly something to Kuwait and then onto kabul. besides It's cheaper and easier for heavy items to trasnport things over land or sea. Russia or Belarus's land border is with Ukraine is huge. I will agree the tech difference was greater in iraq ( hwoever iraq was the world's 5th laegest army) and Ukraine is suffering equally high losses as russia possibly even higher. But It's not like it was any different in Iraq or Vietnam even Ho chi minh said ;'“You can kill ten of my men for every one I kill of yours. But even at those odds, you will lose and I will win.”' Casualties mean little if one side just won't give up and has higer morale and I'm not sure Russia's doing quite as well against Ukrainians as the US was doing against north vietnam in k/d . All I'm saying is Russia should be doing much much better than they are.
@@willgreen9861 Regarding Vietnam and Afghanistan, I apologize, it is difficult to find a word that I would like to convey in Russian and which would also sound in English. It meant that either we take into account the loss of the USSR in Afghanistan and the loss of the USA in Vietnam, or we do not take into account at all. Regarding logistics of the Russian Federation and the USA, the US military budget exceeds the Russian 10 times, which means more efficient supply. The train from Belgorod to Kharkiv does not work as you would like, there are not so many vehicles and there is too much danger of attracting bayraktars or helicopters, given the pace of the offensive, local mechanized brigades can easily cope with supplies. Indeed, Iraq had the 5th army of the world in terms of numbers, but in a modern war, the number hardly affects, there are no front-line actions like in World War II, since this would be the collapse of any army in the world, there are only pinpoint powerful strikes. And yes, the Iraqi army consisted only of infantry, in fact, the US Air Force destroyed all equipment and air defense. If Russia had such a powerful air force and weak air defense of Ukraine, then the war would clearly take place even at the northern Dnieper

Ukrainians didn't know it was anything but an exercise until the missiles were screaming overhead into their homes. You know, NATO was on the verge of becoming irrelevant, we all thought Russia had calmed down from imperial ambitions and we could all get on and work together, but then a prior USSR satellite state elects a leader with strong anti corruption policies and suddenly we see hypocritical accusations of Nazism from Putin, who's nation permits domestic abuse and doesn't even allow people of varying sexual orientations to exist in his borders, nevermind how people sometimes disappear when they're caught saying something he doesn't like, yes, that nation, going to "liberate the Russians" who live there... Except most everyone who the troops met in Ukraine wanted them gone as soon as possible. I'm sure Putin had his answers for this, but in general rolling your tanks through another nation doesn't sit well, especially after what happened with Crimea, Ukrainians are not exactly thrilled to see Russian tanks. Compared one to the other, America is not perfect, far from it. But its a damn sight better than living under Putin's boot. For one, they don't threaten you with nuclear weapons for picking a side that isn't theirs. American armies also don't indiscriminately bomb entire cities to avoid urban conflict with tanks protected by egg cartons. American officials won't take you to a gulag for speaking ill or protesting against a conflict, or any government decision for that matter.
@@widget3672 This is very funny. Incredibly funny. Firstly, the United States has been the most aggressive state from the 50s to the present time (which is not surprising for the main country of the center, the exploiter), therefore the Americans have no moral right to accuse other countries of inhumanity, while the United States used prohibited weapons simply to to "avoid urban conflict with tanks protected by egg cartons". However, I'm not interested in which capitalist country behaved / behaves worse, they are all the same, that the USA, that Nazi Germany, that modern Russia. As a person living in Russia, I find it funny to hear that “NATO was on the verge of becoming irrelevant”, because NATO violated the 90s agreement on non-expansion into Eastern Europe, so it is logical that Russian capitalists perceive the West as a real threat to their existence. It’s also very funny to hear about Putin’s “anti-corruptionism”, as a person who has lived all my life under Putin, I can say for sure that this whole regime is built on corrupt agreements, which, however, is not surprising for a peripheral economy like Africa or Latin America. I am against any capitalist war, and I am against all sides of this conflict, be it Nazi Ukraine, imperialist Russia or "free" America, which in the 90s with its "democracy" caused more economic and demographic damage to all Eastern peoples than Hitler did to the Soviet people for the entire 2nd world war
@@widget3672 I live in Russia and have known this conflict since 2014. if you want, I can provide you with real information about the situation in the region, free from Russian or Western propaganda
@@МихаилТитов-ф7н I appreciate you might be genuinely looking out for me and others, but the actions alone are quite clear. Indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas, nevermind to this scale, is abhorrent. If this were smaller scale it would just be terrorism. Being bigger and louder is not better. I take everything with a grain of salt, especially with regards to media and propaganda, however Russian media hasn't exactly been known for its legitimacy and impartiality, especially under Putin, but that's not terribly far from what was happening during USSR days. A few years back I had a discussion with a Chinese lady who had a similar opening line about helping me avoid propaganda and find the impartial truth... She sent me regular emails that ignored my questions, played a blame game on crimes from before the Geneva convention was written and sent me a whole bunch of propaganda. I stopped interacting when it became very obvious she was just shilling propaganda, and I am cautious of anyone who claims to "want to share the real truth". Different is not necessarily better, and not necessarily worse, but from all I've seen, this situation is quite clear no matter what justifications are put out. Control of information is a powerful way of turning everyday people against each other, and while most every world leader and media group knows this, Putin has been very active in its control and abuse. Free press isn't all sunshine and rainbows, but it's far better than the alternative. One thing is for sure, if Putin wanted NATO to calm down and disappear, he should've stayed friendly. Europe has shut down Russian gas imports, slashing their own energy budgets in protest of this, nevermind the military arms being sent over from all around the world and historically neutral Scandinavian countries going from happily neutral to active wanting to join NATO in a matter of months or weeks. Sometimes you have to consider what consensus might be worth considering as potentially legit, absolute certainty is a very rare thing in this world after all. I'm sorry you have to live on the other side of this situation, we're all just people that want to live good lives. But this is not a good way to live and I hope that someday Putin stops this madness. Continuing on the assumption that since he has nukes no one can touch him, will only lead to more lives lost and more hardships for those that remain.

One of the things I like about our countries is that we can argue. History has shown that through discourse we can find a truly unknowable solution to serious issues in many ventures. Take WW2 relations for example the Allie’s all argued non stop all the way till victory, but this argumentation and disagreement typically lead to better answers than originally thought of. We are better together, so we can argue our way to the solution, because otherwise we would never get proper solutions.

The victory over Germany cost the Soviets 22 million souls. 22 million Do you know how huge that number is?
Germany is influenced by the USA because the USA is Germany's most important trading partner and closest ally. When Germany reunited, it used German money Fond the EU and make the entire Eastern bloc worth living again out of the poor, run-down Soviet communist occupation.
Since Russia is obstructing Germany's trade and EU plans, it is preventing the German-Russian reconciliation policies similar to the French-German reconciliation policies. (Russia is the successor state of the USSR similar to today's Germany from the Kaiserreich and Third Reich)
Germany was the only country that gave Russia a chance in NATO What has disturbed the United States extremely. The NSA even bugged Angela Merkel's phone for a while until the German Federal Intelligence Service found out. This "US doll" called Germany was Russia's only chance for NATO and Peace. Russia lost it to itself.
Russia is responsible for Germany building such a powerful military again. Germany wanted to stay out of this war as best as possible. As a member of the Czech armed forces, I still Very much Hope it doesnt Come to such full conflict Russia vs NATO but if it does, I am more than ready to intervene And teach Russians a lesson.
Russia could only win with nukes. On ground and air they would get smacked
In nuclear conflict neither is a winning side. Its a big lose lose for both sides since the destruction And casualties will be devastating.
@@L4Dsteevie Whatever country uses Nukes in Ukraine will lose all international support. Therefore, nobody will (not Russia nor NATO).
Countries like India and even the Chinese government (influenced by the Chinese people) would not be able to support Russia once a nuke is used.
Russia would "somehow get away" with using nukes only if Ukraine/ Nato forces would in-force bombard/ ground-invade the 50+ years recognized borders of Russia (borders before Donbas and Crimea, pre-2014 Russia), which nobody will.
Even Russian societal forces would very likely not tolerate attacking NATO/ Ukraine with nukes, unless there were large-scale attacks on pre-2014 Russia.
The nuke argument just doesn't apply here, once you think it through.

Did you know that Putin is Russia's main anti-communist? he literally said it in his speech justifying the invasion. and also his favorite philosopher is Ilyin, literally one of the very first fascists in the world, and the inspirer of the white anti-Bolshevik movement. which is very funny to hear about the communists in Russia, given that they have been conducting liberal economic reforms since the 90s. red flags on tanks are a grassroots initiative of people nostalgic for the Soviet Union, who are cleverly used by Putin's capitalist regime

The brotherhood extends onto every facet of the supply chain.
remember when we used to respect the Russian army, looks like we wasted billions preparing for people who can't even reach the carpathians.
But even at those odds, you will lose and I will win.”'
Casualties mean little if one side just won't give up and has higer morale and I'm not sure Russia's doing quite as well against Ukrainians as the US was doing against north vietnam in k/d .

Really? what about American support for terrorist dictatorships in Africa and Latin America?
@@МихаилТитов-ф7н What Americans do is up to them, they've had plenty of disagreeable wars and conflicts, though at least they've had the intention to not just wipe out entire cities indiscrimitely and without warning.
Continuing on the assumption that since he has nukes no one can touch him, will only lead to more lives lost and more hardships for those that remain.
i lived in Latvia when I was 4 (this is surprising to most because I am american) and I don't remember much other than sledding and face planting in the snow, but I do have a great impression of Latvia in me, I remember how much I love it, but not why I love it.

They will protect us Finns. We will both be joining NATO, together. Their females are so cute too. Please do not tell that to the Viking males :-) They would absolutely go berserk. To be really honest, I do not want to fight against Vikings, at all. They are not scared of anything. They do not have such a concept. Weird stuff!
After being a civilian for a decade, I sort of forgot just how much we aren't fucking around in professional western militaries... I've never been in an environment where so much is put at the idea of just maintaining war machines.
Слава НАТО с Украины! Надеюсь скоро мы будем с вами.
You will be. And even if nato takes a while, you will be european. And we will welcome you with open arms, help you rebuild and heal. Stay strong!
@@theranocturn9519НАТО вобще не должна помогать Украине. Украина не член организации, просто Байдену очень нужно защитить условную демократию в том месте

Imagine all those nukes they could've bought instead.....
NATO likes to win wars
I was part of Neptune Warrior in late '07. It's a joint exercise with NATO navies, US Navy, Royal Navy, everyone with the ability to participate. We, USS McFaul, had some Royal Marines aboard for the exercise to coordinate gunfire support for a beach landing. We may not have performed to the sane standards as other ships but it was all so we could see what we were deficient in and to improve. Real professional lot, those Marines were.
Sounds interesting
