I don't normally like "speed" boats but this boat is the exception that proves the rule. She is beautiful and watching her taking on heavy seas is awesome. Thanks for bringing Thunder Child II to your chanel.
In fairness the drone isn't crashing through the waves. High winds, sure, but a high quality one with a good gimbal system for the camera and a gyroscope for the drone it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Considering what boat cost I'm sure they either invested in a high end one or hired a professional film crew with top notch equipment. Definitely wasn't your average $500 consumer drone. 👍🍻
Hmmm Just a little different to the last Steam North Sea Trawler I was deckie on back in '57. 8/9 kn max. on a good day out there. Only similarity was long and skinny. (110ft)
Great work sir. Excellent video. Well done. Best regards from County Cork, Ireland, the home of the Thunder Child 2 factory, Safe Haven Marine. No, I'm not involved in the factory. I just live in the same county, in Ireland.
I watched Tristan's trip on that boat a while back. I know he was feeling under the weather with a flu or something but he got some great footage. It's an awesome, awesome boat.
How will she do riding out a surprise storm? Beautiful design and performance. I guess she can make a run for it too, with a proper heads up. Amazing! Congratulations to the designer, builder and crew!
Dang it's the freaking space shuttle! I want one!!!! Wish you would do videos instead of just pictures.. I am old now and moving pictures fascinate me ;-) But John that was the most exciting boat I have seen on any channel.. With my wife being sick since March I just haven't had the time to play with this stupid box that brings me such good stuff. oh yeah .I guess they call it a computer.. Well I knew it would come to me.. thanks for the great time son.. I do enjoy your channel a lot.. carry on.. be safe and for goodness sake have fun!
Haha, thanks for the comment. I always prefer videos like this - where I can actually get on board and shoot my own footage - so hopefully there will be more videos like this to come. I hope your wife gets better soon; please send her my best wishes
There were ships of shapes and sizes Scattered out along the bay And I thought I heard her calling As the steamer pulled away The invaders must have seen them As across the coast they filed Standing firm between them There lay Thunder Child Moving swiftly through the waters Cannons blazing as she came Brought a mighty metal warlord Crashing down in sheets of flame Sensing victory was nearing Thinking fortune must have smiled People started cheering "Come on, Thunder Child!" "Come on, Thunder Child!"
Now THAT'S a boat. G'day John. That episode has come out of left field. Love to see its performance down here south of Nz in the roaring 40s and furious 50s. Heading to the sub Antarctic Islands. Gets pretty gnarly down there. Or Cape Horn. However I'm still sold on "Just B" that you covered a while ago. Thank you for sharing. Take care mate.
When I was a kid (12 or so - 57 now) I built a model boat with a hull about as near to this design as it could be. The damned thing handled so well and went so fast, I'm not surprised by the capabilities of the full size boat. Funny. I'm Irish too. Must be in the blood.
Those SHOXS seats are bananas!!!!!! Their website has a list of all the military and law enforcement that uses them, it's LONG!!! Everyone here in Canada, same with the US except the Marines, didn't see them on the list HAHAHAHAHA!
In the marine world, certain vessel names are sacrosanct; in the powerboat world, Thunderchild is one of those, it is a special, evocative name and is not a name one uses lightly. However, it it is completely appropriate in this case; Thunderchild II is a work of the boatbuilder's art. She is the very epitome of what a large, fast powerboat should be. I've been in this game, on and off for some 40-odd years and IMHO, Safehaven produce the best sub-100-foot rough weather craft in the world and if you disagree, bite me. For those who do not understand, her 6G operational limits are equal to what a lot of aerobatic aircraft are rated at . . . think about it . . . "Who would not want to be a member of Thunderchild's crew?" A lot of people I dare say would not want to be crew on Thuderchild but then, they don't really count, do they?
😂 next time I see you we will have to go for a beer and exchange sea stories 😂🍻 good luck for tomorrow 🤞 I will see you all as you pass sea reach number 7 🫡
@@YachtBuoy so the boat is basically ready for business with MREs stored for long journeys, how about a head? It definitely has to have one of those right? Excuse my ignorance, but a nice boat like this should have some amenities.
Paar duizend beloodsingen gedaan.
I went through swells and waves like that and bigger in a 29 ft sailboat in a storm on lake Michigan. Now that was impressive. The fact that I am able to even give you this message today after that is quite astounding
I love Thunder Child, I watched it since Thunder Child I, I really hope to have one so I can often visit my mother who lives on a small island ... can this be privately owned sir?
An awesome piece of nautical technology in Thunder Child II!! I like all the redundancies and safety aboard her, and as a Canadian I can tell you we know a bit about large waves and nasty seas so I'm glad they went with SHOXS seats! I couldn't help but notice what I think are hydrofoil tabs in her tunnel, are they for lift or stability, or both? I wish them the very best on their record attempt from London to Monaco!!
Thunder child 2 should be used as a search and rescue boat just think of all the good things are good day to find people lost at sea during massive storms
Thanks for watching! Don't forget to check out my website: yacht-buoy.com/
WHERE ARE THE BIG WAVES?
@Yacht Bouy can I share this vid 2 @Solent Ships plz
I kept waiting to hear; ''self-righting'' ,
does it have that feature?
Someone needs to get this boat over to haulover inlet
I’m up for it 🌊🌊🌊🌊
I would go watch that. Waves coming in and this monster coming out. I’ll bring popcorn for it
It could do circles at haulover and it’s only competition would be the “Green Top Legend” 🚤 lol
Haha I was just thinking that. I wanna see this thing go full speed on a crazy rough day right through Haulover.
It's a 70ish foot boat. That large a vessel makes any inlet in Florida a piece of cake!!
I don't normally like "speed" boats but this boat is the exception that proves the rule. She is beautiful and watching her taking on heavy seas is awesome. Thanks for bringing Thunder Child II to your chanel.

Love that boat, been following these guy's for a few years but what strikes me is how stable the drone fotage is in the same conditions.

As a former tall ship sailor and trawlerman I am in absolute awe of this vessel. Gorgeous and capable she takes my breath away.

Thanks!
Thanks for the SuperThanks! I appreciate it!
This is the ultimate boat to get. Beautiful and mega sea worthy 😍
Would have loved to see some inside video when they were doing their trials.
I have followed this project since it was unveiled! Even now this is something quite special☺️
It really is!

Now that is a superboat. Not because I'm a Cat fan, but becuase it's a brilliant combo for what goes on at sea.
Very true! A powerboat made for rough weather 🌊🌊
Looks like a beast of a machine.
That's a beautiful and well thought out boat.
she sure is :-)
I know NOTHING about boats but I found this fascinating! I'm a new subscriber.
Welcome aboard! 🫡🙌

Such a perfect coastal patrol coast guard vessel :)
Incredible engineering in this boat. It will be interesting to see how it’s incorporated into private yachts 🍻
There's a company out there offering *hydrofoil yachts!*
She handles it well what a cool boat!🛥
She sure does! Thanks for watching!
Gawd that makes my back hurt just watching! BEAUTIFUL boat, but I couldn't handle the impacts.
Check out the video at 7:03.
That's amazing, it's like a motorized surfboard but whit a cabin :D Amazing!!
I wasn't a boat guy before watching this video, but you bet I am now! That's seriously impressive
This boat is an excellent way to ‘enter’ the baiting world 🙌
What a beast!
I want to go for a round the world trip on that so bad!!!
4 big cats with a body to match, safe (almost), up against nature. it’s rich, beautifully engineered, pushing the boundaries, it’s quite marvelous.
🙌
It's a knife in the water 🤩❤️🔥👍
Thank you 🙏 ⛵⛴️🛥️🚁🚤🚢 great 👍 idea 💡

Great boat. And the record they are going to break is who can burn the most fuel.
30 foot seas out there it was so fun at the Helm but definitely scary
Greetings from Indonesia, Maluku, Aru Islands
Thank you for the video. I like that the ship is designed for extreme seas
Thanks for watching!
@@YachtBuoy Thank you again seniors
Absolute !!! Genius!!! No nonsence!!! Bad ass boat!!!
Really spectacular shots cruise tru wawes
They truly are!
@@YachtBuoy the shots going in bad weather jumping in one second the all boat is completely in air ... cool
Take it to the Columbia River Bar. Lets see that!
Check out the USCG 47 footer. It doesn't have to be funky looking to survive rogue waves
Beautiful boat
Excellent commentary 👌

Aircraft g loading has no direct comparison to anything on a boat.
I like how they even had plaque with a Martian tripod on it.
Let's hope this beautiful boat doesn't suffer the same fate its namesake did. ;)
Lol!😁👽✌
Ullaa
She is spectacular
Thats really cool
what a beauty........
🙌
On SS Nevasa, engine room fires were a common occurence, usually lagging fires on the HP turbines!
And it's yellow!!!!😁😁😁😁
🙌
Love the color.
It’s definitely eye catching, that’s for sure.
this boat is amazing
I would love to see this thing rip through haulover
show the locals how's it really done lol
So would i.
I cant stop staring at the water rushing over the front; beautifully engineered.
You had me at FRP hull.
Amazing boat awesome to see it going through the waves not that I would go on it to rough the sea
It almost feels like this boat wants you to power it through the waves 😍 Safehaven Marine have done an incredible job
I guess this is BEST for people who never get seasick. Maybe it can also be use in un-manned mode with remote control.
You have to have sea in your blood to take her on.
I'm going to start a GoFundMe because this boat will save my life! because I can't resist my attraction to the ocean
😂🙌
Nobody has said - how much does it cost ???
I am terrified of “boats” but would go out in heavy seas in that beast!👍
This boat looks alive!
When those engines are fired up it sounds like she is alive
Param olsa kesinlikle bu çılgın şeyi alırdım 😊
What a beating! You can get that for far less!
Not sure that Tristan fella is that nice a guy 😉
Thank you so much for doing this.

Just seen this what a fantastic vessel, does she have a galley? The elephant in the room is of course what did she cost!!
Управляемость,мощность двигателей,конструктивные особенности создают хорошую остойчивость.
🫡
It's amazing
I want one!
Lekker man lekker 🇿🇦
Lekker man, no lekker
It appears that a key element in the boats design is in the shape and weight of the bottom , which would add a tremendous amount of stability.
She'd b a crowd puller at Southampton International Boat Show
What a beating.
I’ve sailed through these waters. But not like that! Lol
Wow!!!
She is a beast! A beautiful one at that
Beautiful boat, I would like it fitted out with a little more comfort, did it have a galley?
Negative - well, not in the traditional sense of what you would expect a galley to look like

Yeah it does have a head and seperate showers. The galley area is in the seating area behind the helm (I wouldn’t call it a saloon thou)

Dose she run on jets or props??❤❤❤
Wave piercing props 🙌

Cut down on weight.???
Nice.

😍
Why no sunbathers on the foredeck ?
I get sea sick in like 15mins and it doesnt stop until im back on land for an hour or two.
"Ooooohhh noo, and theyve stuffed it!!!" -boats vs haulover
Beast! But who/what is it for?
isn't the Humphry gear trim? It is on our boat

Hello Lake Superior in November.
Some heavy metal music might have been more appropriate during the heavy seas montage instead of dainty piano music 😉
I can’t help it - I find that kind of chop quite relaxing lol

I agree, but i do not think she would go down a slip like the lifeboats do, but as you say WOW.
Could this boat survive a storm like in the movie The perfect storm
Blue Riband, but what's the endurance?
