This was driving me absolutely insane, I've always been rolling in slightly wrong directions or accidentally hitting door sides while trying to go through them. Thank you SO much man.
another problem i had with ds2 was how nothing in the world felt solid. when you swing an axe into a dragon's leg it just kinda "feels" like you're cutting through a giant fart cloud with a movie projector next to it, projecting the image of a dragon onto the cloud. not only that but animations were just generally weak. rolling looked stupid, some ultra great weapon attacks looked REALLY stupid
Rolling in DS3 looks the worse of all, specially rolling after being knocked on the ground. I believe there is no mods to "fix" what you are asking, maybe one that take the "mist" effect when you hit something, but changing the sounds is very unlikely.
Toxically Masculine that's exactly the reason i dislike the game, i just can't enjoy it for that reason. So yeah if anyone finds a fix or mod for that i'd like to know as well
Interestingly a lot of the reason behind this is the inferior SOUND design believe it or not! The main reason it doesn't "feel" like cutting through flesh is because it doesn't SOUND like cutting through flesh (if that makes any sense). It's like playing a call of duty game with shitty gunshot sounds, it will never feel as realistic as if they took real gun sounds from the same model as in the game, recorded with a high grade mic and ported into the game properly etc.. It's not the WHOLE issue, but it's definitely a good chunk of it, and frankly the biggest contributor. Not currently aware of any mods to help this though.
I hear you, as much (for me) the DS2 is the best souls game, most of the enemies you hit make that weird sound like you are hitting a illusion or a cloud, the sounds are not meaty or varied enough for most enemies (the human sized enemies sound fine). But that's not something that I personally believe someone can mod, because if the hit sounds are not varied, if you change for a, let's say, "hitting a rock enemy sound", this sound could be played when hitting unarmored enemies or metal clad enemies. I don't know if I explained myself clearly but I don't think this can be fixed by a modder, only by a dev.
Thanks, but you actually missed an important thing for Scholar of The First Sin. When dragging the files to the game folder, you must unpack the files that are in the x64 folder into the main folder as well (you were dragging the entire x64 map + the x32 files into the folder, which did not work)
Well, since the clunkyness was one of the main reasons, I have only touched the game again after my first playthrough to play the DLCs and than never again, maybe it's time to give the game a second shot.
It's an ok game, with highly repetitive combat, and a world layout that makes no sense. PVP is good. But all pve fights feel the same, no matter what weapon you use. And your character always feels like he's wading through mud.

my problem with DS2 is the lack of transition between a light and strong attack, it feels slower compared to DS1 because the character in DS2 would reset their animation, i can only think of a few weapons that have a smoother transition just because the moveset blends in from which direction the sword is swung, just a minor gripe but it makes the weapons in DS2 feel more generic, especially ornsteins spear and the black knight weapons received generic movesets
Right? What happened to the BKUGS raking along the ground and transitioning back to a swipe? Or finishing an attack animation and not having to wait a solid 2 full seconds to use items or start a new combo with light attacks?

There is a very very small change, but there is also a change they'll ban you for picking up random items. I have been using mods on every dark souls title for ever (even on remastered, only graphic improvements and the anti cheat watchdogs thingy) and have never been banned for this ever. I have been banned on dark souls 3 but that was for cloning a stack of 99 embers to pass on to my friend, and then backing up my save with my embers still in my possession. But that is of course a cheat, I just saw it as a smart ass idea to pvp online without taking a farming effort! They unbanned me after honestly explaining why I did this. I cannot state enough how much I recommend this mod, it is such a game changer!

Developer 2: "How about we replace the fine controls from DS 1 with clunky and slappy controls instead?"
From Software CEO: "Amazing! You, Sir, deserve a promotion!"
«How about we add a Deadzone to the controls that was not in Dark Souls 2 DirectX 9 version on the Xbox 360?»
it's possible to be softbanned for this, which is why I always play ds2 offline
my dark souls 2 in pc keeps going to first option and i cannot select other options like new game, quit game etc need help
Haven't had any input issues with this on my USB controller.
Either that or I just don't notice it.
Sephyrias You just don't notice it. This isn't something that only affects some controllers, it's how the game is made.
I don't understand, I can't get the links to work in the nexus mod download... It seems as though even a month ago this was working fine for people.
I did end up figuring it out, I can't remember how though sorry. COMPLETELY fixed the game for me though. Highly recommend.
Any chance of the fix getting you banned when using it in multiplayer?
The GDrive archive does not exist anymore.
the link to the sotfs is no longer valid
In the video you only have xinput1_3.dll but when I downloaded from the google drive there are 5 others.
This is what I have:
xinput1_1.dll
xinput1_2.dll
xinput1_3.dll
xinput1_4.dll
xinput9_1_0.dll
xinputuap.dll
Duranzo.exe
Readme.txt
x64 (folder) - inside seems to be everything listed above. No difference that I could tell.
Do I need to put all these in the Game's folder or only xinput1_3.dll like you showed in the video?
I also am using a DS4 controller with DS4Windows on Wondows 10
For those who is using steam, im playing offline (still works in 2023) :
1. Make sure your controller is connected
2. Right click to DS2:SOTFS from Library, then manage and choose "Controller Layout"
3. Click the gear icon to the : DS2:SOTFS Default controller layout (usually the top most with gear icon)
4. Choose DISABLE
5. Do the this tutorial, step by step.
6. Enjoy
OMG, so it's an issue? I made it all the way to Nashandra thinking it was a feature.
Please elaborate.
@@gozinta82 I only played the PC version of DS2, and while I noticed it felt... clunky compared to DS1 I thought it was just to make things more hardcore.
To be fair it was a caster built, so reaction times were not as critical. I made it to Nashandra and stopped playing for a number of reasons.
From the title I thought this was a mod to fix the clunky walking movement animations. This is neat too, but I really do hate the animations in DS2, they look so silly.
the running animation feels really bad in dks 2...
@N8 Wallis yep
Is there a way to do this for Dark Souls Remastered as well?
old comment i know but i dont think thats necessary for remastered, if youre talking about rolling while locked on theres sadly nothing you can do about it
Is there a danger to be banned? Any reports?
I CANT WALK
holy shit. i always thought ds2 was supposed to be ckunky
try tounge but hole
