    Going on my way to school (trade school) on my Warrior with open pipes. I saw a classmate in the freeway, that was traveling at about 5 MPH. His window down, arm hanging out. Pipes are on the right side of the bike. Lane split right along his truck, under 1000 rpm. As soon as I got along his window, 1st gear wide open!
    Not my most polite moment, but really really hilarious!

      I am 80% of the time driver, 20% rider due to the weather conditions in my country. When I drive, I always watch for my blind spots because bikers have the tendency to hide there. The most important thing bikers need to pay attention is to be sure that they don't position themselves in blind spots. and there is always a biker hiding there for some strange reason. The 2nd most important thing is KEEP RIGHT which most bikes don't care about and put themselves in danger.

      I wave at almost every car when on my bicycle , and when riding one of my motorcycles, I wave at any that don’t pull out in front of me or cut me off. I like to think the act of waving makes the negative ones hate us less, and it might make the less attentive drivers more aware that we exist by making them process the act of waving. We’re all just trying to keep breathing on whatever number of wheels we can.

    Most of my experiences with other motorcyclists in western Pennsylvania involve old guys on big cruisers. Whether they are in a cruiser parade or not, they always go super slow and block traffic and leave their turn signals on forever. The worst part though is that it always seems like they are surprised by every turn. Even though they are going slow they hit the brakes hard and then still barely make the turn. Then they aggressively speed back up to 5 under the speed limit.

  • @Racer57
    @Racer57 4 года назад +1

    When I'm out riding, I hate coming across a larger group of riders going 10±mph below the speed limit. You can't safely pass the group because they are riding too close together, but there's usually not a straightaway long enough to safely pass them all. They also don't realize you are there. The guys riding in the back are usually the lesser skilled riders and they don't check their mirrors and don't alert the leaders that somebody may want by.

  • @imadecoy.
    @imadecoy. 4 года назад +1

    There is popping on deceleration whether you have an aftermarket exhaust or a stock exhaust. It has absolutely nothing to do with tuning, it's just much quieter on stock exhausts. Modern motorcycles inject air into the exhaust to burn off any extra fuel that makes it through combustion. This is for emissions purposes and causes the popping. Usually you need an ECU flash to disable the air injection or block it off entirely with plates.

  • @thinkdunson

    Lemmy: "if you're on a motorcycle, you're doing the thing i dig, and i'm probably going to get along with you"

      I agree with Lemmy - IN context. He said when a random group rider tries to stay beside him and close the gap to almost tap handlebars - Yeah, we're both supporting the cause this ride is for, we get should along, but we don't have that much connection on a first ride. Maybe after a few dinners.

    One thing that annoys me is the perception that the center of the road is "the greasy strip" that must be avoided. There was a time when that was very much true.
    HISTORY TIME! Back in the '60s and earlier, engine ventilation was just a rubber tube that shot straight down on the ground and blew oily steam on the center of the road. After emissions became a thing, positive crankcase ventilation required those vents had to be recirculated into the intake. Point is, cars arent blowing oil onto the center of the road, and havent been for over 50 years. Dont believe me? Look at old photos of the highways in 1960 and look at them now. Thats not to say engines cant explode or an accident causes oil to leak on the road, but that is few and far between.

  • @moushunter
    @moushunter 4 года назад +1

    Back in the days when cars and trucks leaked more oil than an old Harley the center strip was slippery. Not so much now. Often there are less pot holes in the middle of a lane than in the car wheel ruts. Besides that, the front end shops pay to have the manholes stuck on the part of the road where car tires will hit them. LOL

    Dismissive? Yes! We need to dismiss that cager's guilt for cutting us off when we've been hiding there till they forgot we were there.

I was driving to my parent's house with the family, on a two lane section of interstate with a 70mph speed limit when I ran into a massive group ride coming on and got stuck in them. They were doing 50, and some were in the left lane, some in the right. I ride, and even I was day dreaming about plowing through them. Don't be an a-hole. Alright... so I’ll chime in. Regarding being the ask-hole guy.... I do a ton of research before I work on a new area of my bike. I am a pretty independent dude, and the idea of me riding on a bike that I service and maintain myself makes me feel more manly. Having said that, I tend to ask a lot of questions among guys who have more experience, especially when I read ABC on the “forums” and then I hear XYZ from other guys. Those questions aren’t an attempt to convey some sense of dominance or “I think I know better than you”, but rather me seeking more understanding. “Guy #1 says this, and you are saying something different- help me to understand why you disagree so that I can grow in my understanding”. FWIW- I’m the guy who would gladly pay extra to someone working on my bike to explain things. Maybe I missed my calling!

In several years, I spoken to exactly ONE person (other than myself) who agreed that it's a good thing. And that includes many, many other motorcyclists. Most people don't understand ANY benefit to it, and it is viewed as "those damn stunt riders!" instead of a safety or congestion thing.

    23:00: Group Rides. I live in NE Florida. At least once a year when I am returning from Miami, I get stuck behind a group of two to three dozen Harley riders taking up all three lanes of I-95 North, around Daytona, going 45 MPH on one of their low-T group rides. I would wish them well if they all rode in the right lane and did 45, or if they took the right and middle lanes and did the speed limit.

    Ask-hole, I've never heard that before but I like it. I tend to ask a lot of questions, but hopefully I'm doing it in a respectful way and listening to the answers. I'm okay with paying my mechanic extra if he'll let me hang out and watch for educational purposes.

      Dave, I've heard horror stories about dealership service departments. I try to do most of the stuff myself, but only after reading the manual, checking out forums and watching a bunch of videos on line. Both of my bikes are used (Moto Guzzi V7iii and 1975 Honda CB750) so no warranty left on either. I have a good mechanic that knows old Hondas when I need help; but I haven't had to use him very often. Lots of great information available on line about the vintage CBs. The Moto Guzzi dealership service guys make me a little nervous. Their yelp reviews are mixed.

    How about a question for us the public "What do you hate about mechanics?". You have a problem with your bike. You look it up on the forums. Dozens of others have had the same problem and some have a solution. You bring your bike to the mechanic and he says "We have never seen that problem before". This line must be taught in BMW mechanic school.

    Popping on deceleration isn’t 100% always because of a bad tune. It can be, but not always. I only have experience with Suzuki so I’m not sure what other manufacturers call their air injection systems, but the PAIR valves on Suzuki’s will cause popping on decel even with a properly tuned bike. You can block off that system to get rid of the popping but it doesn’t really gain you anything, other than getting rid of that sound.

    Most annoying things motorcyclists do, brand loyalist that dress up and go out riding like a jackass to put on a show thinking they’re a badass. Also cruiser group rides that ride on the highway parade style, block traffic, and get pissed when someone tells them to speed up.

    What drives me nuts is people buying motorcycles and then trying to modify them beyond their design. I own 2018 Indian Chieftain and 2018 BMW K1600 GTL. It drives me nuts when people dump $$$ into an Indian to make it go “fast”. Dude, you want to go fast, get a sports bike. My GTL is 160 hp and no matter how much money you dump into that v-twin it will never go as fast as that bike.
