    Very helpful video again from Douglas.
    Float fishing fully explained as all your other tutorials have been.
    Especially helpful to the newcomers to running floats was the stop knot below the float to avoid the hook length wrapping around it.
    Good to hear a mention for Alex and the family at Splash Sports in Ardrossan who are a real asset to the North Ayrshire

    Hi Douglas. That location is fairy tale beautiful and I would guess that you have a new camera set up. It looks amazingly good. I visited that neck of the woods many years ago and now all at once I want to return. Sometimes fishing is just a new reason to go and breathe a place in and out again. I think float fishing just there on that day was the right call. Nice and quiet. Watchful. I'm looking forward to your next video already. I'll sithi after! Dave.

      @PiscatorUK-Fishing You're very welcome indeed.
      As you said at the beginning of the video, some of your biggest fish have been on the sliding float.. it's the same for me. It's a great way of getting to just the right height above the kelp and rocks and to where the fish are..and you very rarely lose any tackle. Whereas with lures or bottom rigs you constantly get snagged.
      Incidentally, speaking of losing gear, that was a great tip for newbies to the sport in regards to a lighter breaking strain hook length 🎣 👍

    • @PiscatorUK-Fishing
      @PiscatorUK-Fishing  Месяц назад

      @@baitrunner5193 i use to use braid for the float but I found the braid wrecks the float stop or knot when adjusting the depth a lot. What do you use as a float stop?

    • @baitrunner5193
      @baitrunner5193 Месяц назад +1

      @PiscatorUK-Fishing hi Douglas before I say anything I want to say I love your content and have picked up a few tips from previous vids 👌 I use the long black stops not the wee rugby ball shaped ones as I find they don't hold their position on the braid too well but the long black ones are great. I don't use braid for all float fishing just for pike or sea fishing and I just use cheap 4 strand Chinese rope. The reason I prefer it is because it floats and when you get a bite it lifts off the water and you get a good clean connection to set the hook as with mono i find it sinks between the tip of the rod and the float which hinders the setting of the hook. I hope that makes sense lol

    Hi Douglas a fishing beginner so apologies for the naive question😂 In your float set up does the weight and bait end up sitting on the bottom? Or it suspended in the water. Thank you for the great videos and I have already tried the Bombarda for Sea Trout once where I live here in Denmark. Thanks Nick

    • @PiscatorUK-Fishing
      @PiscatorUK-Fishing  Месяц назад

      @@nickcocking8438 Hi Nick, I always look forward to questions, it can sometimes be difficult to remember everything on what I’m doing in the heat of the moment. The majority of the time I suspend the bait 1-2 feet just off the bottom for most species although pollock will patrol most depths. I try to find the exact depth first from the bottom to the float before i attach the hook, adjusting the float stop as required.

    Are you on the bottom? How do you decide your depth?

    • @PiscatorUK-Fishing
      @PiscatorUK-Fishing  Месяц назад +1

      Hi Tom, I’m probably 1-2feet of the bottom, the wrasse and codling are mostly in the rocks, so getting close is quite important. The camera didn’t really show how clear the water was, I think I could see down at least 15ft. When I set my depth I usually keep my hook of the rig until I’m happy with the depth and have several casts at first adding more depth on my float stop until the float lies on its side meaning the wait is on the bottom. I then shallow the float stop about 3ft and put my hook on which is about a foot below th wait. Just remember add depth for an incoming tide and shallow up as the tide falls. Unfortunately I said all this on camera but my wireless mic played up and had to cut a lot of footage. I feel a better tutorial based video might be needed. Hope this helps though👍
