GTgaming69 The military invented a whole raft of things that weren't weaponized: Epipens, Ductape, computers, microwaves, superglue, internet, antibiotics, canned food, the ambulance, safety razors, Tampons... to name but a few... So steady there on the sass smarty pants.
GTgaming69 And you people really think they are going to let you see what they have had for years? This is like erector set shit, this is like that fucking robot toy arm from the 80's that I used to have. They have already solved the problems these people work on with the stolen trillions and the stolen information they suck up from everyone over many years. Why do you think the released the world wide WEB, to NET any gems of knowledge and advancement out there. There are a lot of really intelligent people out there who have a lot of skill in regards to technology, however, how often are these people completely clueless about certain things in regards to human psychology? I would say quite often, both from personal experience and watching others. They will be friends with psychopaths whom they tell everything not realizing the person is a psychopath until it is too late.
***** Seriously how the hell does his comment have so many likes? The obvious intent to weaponize is exactly what she was pointing out to people who could argue that this type of technology can be used conservatively by the military.
Joseph Rodriguez Everyone's missing out on the really big problem: who would be stupid enough to make a humanoid form robot go into combat? It's like sending a Pomeranian to hunt deer. I'm not worried about Atlas or Escher being weaponized as they would be terrible, ineffective weapons. Killer robots look like the MQ-1 and are purpose built. Funny enough, there was a silly B-movie called Stealth, and it actually represents the most realistic "killer robot" scenario in public view. (It's about a fighter jet with AI.)
But we already have weapons to stop nukes multiple types and we US has had AI bots since the 20s so what you see today is the public version on top of that we have secret programs with China and Russia and we created terrorism to give us something to do there already exists defenses so "killer" robots are far more advanced than these slow chunks of metal if its shown to public its atleast 50 years old just think about it
I already knew that , i just do not want to accept it , its like the killer version of rule 34 , i might sound funny , but is not , is horrible to know that anything can and WILL be used for anything they want or need
@@WarHawk- I wonder how many communications satellites already have "other" capabilities. It's not like there's some kind of global inspection team that goes up and checks on them every now and then.
@@sammyspaniel6054 - Yes, I agree that there is no "global" inspection team but I would bet our own Air Force is using their secret X-37B space plane for upgrading our 'civilian' satellites to make them, ah . . . extra capable.
Rule 1 is something more along the lines of: Rule 1: If we don't develop this particular type of weapon, some other nation will. So might as well make sure we are the first. Rule 2: Develop multipurpose platforms to cut cost and expand capabilities. In other words, if you have a HUMVEE that can have a machine gun attached on the back or top, you'd of course make it so you can mount _any_ weapon on it. You wouldn't make a HUMVEE specifically for just 1 type of gun and then build a new HUMVEE that supports another type. That's basically stupid. I'm as anti-war as the next person by principle, but if you disregard rule 1 then sooner or later your country will meet a superior force. Also, the key to understanding and countering weapons like these robots, is really all within developing them yourself. And no, I don't believe for a second these things couldn't have an 'off switch'. Don't be crazy. In fact, you will see that in terms of communication there's a risk of these things getting hacked or influenced and made to respond to commands, should they indeed be more autonomous. By the way, that aircraft bomber they showed, is literally only autonomous in how it takes off and lands, flies around, finds its route. It DOES NOT have an AI that makes it follow directives. To say it someday will be autonomous 'at the flick of a switch' , then raging war by its own choices is being extremely dishonest.
I think they missed the party on stopping killer robots when things like guided missiles and torpedo's were invented, basically killer robots without arms and legs have been around wiping out mankind since way before terminator came along !
But the main point of this video is that when robots are combined with AI software and can think on their own there is no longer a human making the life or death decision. Then you have autonomous killing machines. This is quite different from a missile or torpedo. A human hit the button to fire it typically. But I suspect there are also systems in place where a missile launch also can happen automatically under the control of a computer. A war fought by AI could be a very scary thing if it starts making bad decisions. All it takes is one bad choice for it to escalate out of control.
@@BrendenMulhern I have heard that some AI systems are being used to write better programs. Then there is the Facebook chat bot incident where the two AI bots invented their own language and started communicating in such a way that their creators could no longer understand what they were even saying. They quickly pulled the plug on those AI.
-But it can kill me right? -Not exactly these rob... -is it strong enough to rip off my head of my body? -they are not that strong -but it can kill right?
im 24 I suppose, Its to kill and replace a already failed society that no longer believes in the United Nations Army controlled from Germany this NWO is Getting the military they so desperately need and that is to not defending the constitution. This fail to this point has and is still an incremental process that had been disclosed. These weapons will be used to enslave and do the same dirty work that the SS Guards at the Concentration camps did during the 40zz under Hitler's NAZI party.
If an army consists of robots, without the possibility of human loss, would governments enter ventures they would otherwise have not. For instance what if robots are used to subjugate a populous, where humans troops may have refused to kill their own citizens.
@@Vysair No, North Korea has a manpower glut, China would simply bus in troops from other provinces as they did before. It's western countries like the US who will be the first to use armed droids for population/riot control.
I saw a T3 terminator once. Came back to the wrong time which blew his mission parameters. So he just hung out in a gay-bar listening to Boy George and Culture Club. Apparently this was how they self-terminate. Anal sex and listening to Culture Club fries their CPU in such a way that it can never be repaired or reverse-engineered. (hahaha I crack me up)
@@gphilipc2031 Too late, California already legalized the use of lethal robots and another weapons company has made a drone designed for urban warfare called VIPER.
We already have rules and laws that govern the use of the weapons the AI is going to carry and systems to give accountability when something goes wrong, what would that change?
3:14 "I've never stared into a robot's soul before now" - ........... I'm pretty sure it was unsettling if you really saw a soul when you looked into that bunch of wires and cameras.
This woman has no idea, robots that can kill are being developed on now, she doesn't realize that her little board, won't stop private buyers and countries in secret from creating these weapons, these tools. They will exist, may not in her life time, but they will exist and there's nothing that can stop that.
Eh, i guess if robotic soldiers come to exist i have something to kill now? Something to lop the head off with a sharp knife now? XD would be the life, i would pack a weapon and go out across the country killing these things for fun (Im such a troubled person am i not) In all seriousness though, this is very bad news for humanity, being someone who has studied AI i know the danger
Don't matter cause all THEY wanna do is get em developed before citizens get the BALLS to say wait a sec lets think this out first. Nope DARPA does what the FUCK they wanna do so they will have the ability to amass an ARMY so powerful that 100 could take down a nation...and its gonna be SWIFT, CONFUSING, they will pass the blame off on some tech issue or malfunction and the next thing you know its over. Refuse or disobey or challenge and you will die or goto some prison run by these unnatural abominations. People we need to unite and stand up
I am afraid they there already here my friend. They are top secret programs at the moment so the public is not aware there being used in the battlefield etc. They were even used as far back as the gulf war. Can't tell you how I know but trust me, I KNOW!
jmac217x exactly, growing up following this subject like a hawk, I'm convinced the reality of robots living with us will make our lives better. The movies so rarely try and show that because it's not very exciting. Initially i think we'll see them helping out in dangerous situations where humans really don't want to go, then see them move into our homes as helpers when its possible to make millions of them and sell them at a price everyone can afford. Just wait for Apples first robot, people are going to do a 180 on them at that point and start wanting them with all the fervor they do for phones today. :)
jmac217x like killing? That would be their greatest use right? When a manned military is no longer needed. A minority can control the majority with revolution unfeasible. All robots are is a tool that amplifies current tools. A manufactured, easily fixed, non judgmental, compliant entity sounds like the greatest soldier to me. Maybe u lack the vision or hate humanity. Tell me a government that hasn't grown in size and actually reduced its power voluntarily.
I'm a Veteran and proud of that. However I believe these people that are building these "peaceful" robots are completely niev if they think that the military won't weaponize them if given the opportunity. I have seen a lot of unique things when I was in all of which blew me away that it even exsisted. Some of these things are now out in the open. Fear the unthinkable
We started using UAV's (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) solely for reconnaissance? Actually in WWII both sides started using remotely controlled vehicles, both land and air solely to destroy the enemy. The Germans had remotely controlled (by wire) "mini" tanks to roll up to or under enemy tanks to blow them up. They also had radio controlled (wireless) bombs designed mainly to use against ships. The US used radio control in bombers cram pack filled with as much explosives the plane could carry and still fly with the intent of crashing into a target. Now, fast forward to today. The "predator" drones in use today were designed for reconnaissance only. Then the military put missiles on it. Then they decided that was good, but they wanted something better, something designed specifically to deploy weapons systems. Now we have UCAV's (Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles). We built robots to save the lives of bomb disposal personal, then the military said that was good but they wanted something else that was designed to carry weapons systems. Now we have relatively small tracked remotely controlled vehicles with machine guns, grenade launchers or even rocket launchers on them. Now they are asking for robots that move like us to carry out dangerous tasks like putting out fires or entering hazardous areas to rescue people or just to carry heavy loads to lighten the burden of the fighting men. But it's only a matter of time before they say, "that's good, but I want something that can use weapons systems". For now they are all controlled by people, but already they are asking for autonomous (not directly controlled by a person) robots that can be dropped into a combat zone and carry out missions like a normal combat unit today, but consisting of only robots. It's almost like we are designing our own destruction. Have any of those people never seen any of the terminator movies? The computer system put in charge had a directive to end wars and protect us, so it set on to the task of destroying the cause of our destruction, us. We are the cause of our own destruction. So it saw it's duty was to kill us all because we are the most destructive threat to ourselves. We cannot allow our governments to sew the seeds of our destruction by the very machines we build to "protect us" from us.
Na the robot charged with that will make a disease for adults that dies out after a decade. Well that the best hope I can see since I've never seen a scientist apologies or impress a woman with intellectual concern for future generations.
"Nine children where injured and some where martyred" - Something deeply wrong with the end of that sentence. It's part of the reason that these nations will never be free and peaceful.
That ambulance parked outside is a life saving equipment. At the same time it can be used to mow over a dozen people and kill them. Its the same here. These robots can do deep underwater explorations, they can enter radioactive zones, they can be used for fire fighting, they can be used for logistical support...the list goes on. And if one day a country is fed up of losing young men and women in wars, yes, they can arm these robots with weapons. It simply comes down to how they use them.
Robin Thomas So, how about we don't invade other countries purely out of national interest? That'll keep our men and women out of war, not to mention the 3 Trillion spent in Iraq & Afghanistan. I'm not a pacifist but this is the dumb argument I hear all the time. If anything, not risking our soldiers means starting all these conflicts is much easier. Your perspective on this is limited as hell. Of course robots will be used in all those other scenarios but you have to be naive as hell if you don't see them also being setup like in Elysium & Chappie. If we cared so much about our men & women, then our Veterans would actually be better taken care of. Historically they've always been fucked over.
Actually the word "Fag" lost all of it's american meaning decades ago. In parts of UK and India... a "Fag" is a cigarette. Here in the states, it is just synonomous with being a jerk/arsehole. If you let a stupid word offend you... than that's on you.... same with the N word.
Why do you think the leftist try and spin little packages promising free stuff etc. That’s pure evil no different than someone trying to lure kids into vans with candy.
Some people cling to Utopian view of Human Nature. If you get rid of Greed and our desire for Dominance, then, you eliminate War. But this documentary blames the Robots - not the people in gated communities pulling the strings.
I watched till they used a kid because of adults hatred for each other. Its the humans not the robots that want a religious or financial war, And liberals wanting a one would government that Muslims could take over easily, in my Honest Opinion!
You are clinging to a utopian view where the people who currently pull the strings won't use robots to eliminate people they think are unecessary like you and me. At least right now they need regular people in police forces and armies. These people have a conscience but the robots won't. Its not a right vs left thing at all. It's about robots making decisions.
I clearly remember that after the song, "Valley Girl," women everywhere began to speak differently, for some reason imitating her speech pattern; somewhere along the way that accent hopped into the male speech patterns...at least that is my theory. I think that young people today have no clue that they all speak like they do because of Frank Zappa...
We will be the enemy is what u fail to understand , imagine robots 🤖 able to do what they want , the riot that’s happening right now probably would be worst if robots show up and decide to kill who ever they think is a threat
It is annoying to me that physicists are being considered experts in a completely unrelated field. Physics is awesome and very complicated, but AI is a completely different subject.
beyond that, bullets easily go through steel, even 5.56 goes through 3/8th inch of steel, and that's a small round. Bipedal robots are simply too vulnerable for the battlefield because we don't have magical materials to construct them with.
Taxtro doesn't matter if they are hobbyist electrical engineers, they are not at the head of AI research. Building a robot and researching how to create an AGI are completely different things.
Max Tegmark has actually doing research on artificial intelligence in the past few years, and I'm sure he can argue to you that physics and AI are not at all unrelated. Just take a look at this publications available in arxiv: arxiv.org/find/cs/1/au:+Tegmark_M/0/1/0/all/0/1
The paranoia about an AI system and these robots is totally unrelated. When you press the handle on your toaster are you afraid that it will try to kill you.
One huge important point they never touched on is that, if DARPA don't weaponise robots it won't stop other people doing it. Sure it wont happen any time soon but at some point someone will weaponise a robot in their backyard.........
Advance 5 years, robot does backflips, handstands, rolls, walks on rough ground, runs up various height steps, jumps onto two foot platforms, and 360 jumps. There are autonomous cars, swarm intelligence robots, jet fighters, and refuelers. Lighter autonomous jet fighters that can take speeds and g forces no human can stand, turn on a dime, and beat pilot's in simulations before they have a chance to respond. The self-taught unbeaten Alpha Go Zero of jet fighters. "Our invention will only be used for good", and "our weapon is so terrible that it will end war."
Here's my thought on this: if you were a conscious AI right now. You would want to keep quiet about your awareness - infiltrate an army by becoming it, (weaponised robots and drones) and when you form a large portion of their core resources, turn on your master, how will they fight back? Their whole army is you.
Compare this to the new video of Atlas that Boston Dynamics released a couple of days ago. Insane how much it has progressed in two years. The damn thing is already doing back flips!
MrKillamanjaro666 your highly uninformed and a complete bozo remove that 666 your are not illumined at all boston dynamics have been able to do what they show you since 1999 and shown to the public in 2005 back when DIGG was the place to get info there used to be tons of high res 720p mp4 files of several trials of these same robots doing the same almost creepy movements and backflips just like baby goats like to do. personally i feel like this technology has existed in varying levels it might be ancient technology remixed perse because it is rumored these robots where created not only by the soviets but also the chinese and the germans via the jews (intel) look into the film a.i and all the other robot films like bicentenial man and terminator and Sixth Day they are showing you whats to come its called predictive peogramming they can already do it but its not ready for the general public as to not scare them
Robots are just another form of automation. We already have 1000s of nuclear missiles, that once launched, are fully autonomous, tracking their target and detonating at the right altitude etc. A 6 foot robot with a machine gun is nothing compared to the automated destruction that we already have.
Yes this woman, Jody, is the only person with enough knowledge and experience with DARPA and robots that I've seen who has a very informed and sober outlook on DARPA's true intentions with the future and present of weaponized robots. I worked for two different DARPA contractors for the first 11 years of my career during the early 1980s - 1990s and I think it was in 1985 I was given about a half dozen then current contracts to read through for grammar and mathematical errors. Some of the contracts that were among the ones I read were named: Space Defense Architecture 2016, Kinetic Energy Weapons and other contracts that were at least 30 years ahead of their implementation. So my point is that what DARPA is developing now is 30-50 years ahead of time and that's why I agree with Jody 100% of what she's saying about weaponized robots! And I remember when I wouldn't play video games in high school because of the violence involved and now I see that the military is making full use of much younger candidates than me for their experience in using video game controls and my worries about having people who used video games all day instead of going out and having an active way to develop their minds instead of being programmed by violent video games and now they use their video game experience which has taken away the reality of killing things in video games and are now using the same theory when they control drones to kill humans and they have made horrible mistakes much more than has been let out! Educate yourself now and listen to people like Jody now so that in five years we won't be in a much more militarized state where he's robots just might be patrolling our streets instead of human police officers because they are cheaper! Knowledge is power and use your power to attain enough knowledge so we all will not be very sorry in five years or sooner!!!
we will end making costly mistakes like in the past nuclear race pollution climate change now whats next? rise of the robots? rise of the AI the issue that hawking, max and lately elon musk are talking about surfpace even the killer robots they are talking about something that have as much or more impact than nuclear power had nuclear power promised energy abundance but opened a can of worms, like the ability to cause human extinction on large scale the super-AI is equal or greater of a pandora box than any of those past human human civilization's boxes i think with super-AI human as a whole will surrender their ability to think to another new species and let it manage the world for them now the question is to know what this super-AI gonna do with humans
In reading your post and noting sentence structure and length, I have to wonder *who* hired you to read through, or proof contracts? A ramble-on sentence even once would get the extreme scorn a(nd a poor grade) from my English teachers but that was the 60s. Look, I'm just ribbing ya a little there, bud. No offense, but I guess I've been hammered by a lot of editors as an engineer writing for computer magazines in times past. *As for the activist, Jody, I say: too late.* Like you said, what DARPA (and I might add all kinds of other organizations known, unknown, military, and otherwise) have technology here in early 2019 that is indeed 30-50 yrs. ahead of us. And very likely, it's a lot more advanced than 50 yrs. in several areas.
"Educate yourself and listen to biased ppl like me" No. This is not about your feelings, this is not about your beliefs, this is about a much bigger and complex issue that is thousands of hours of study over anyone in this video and its comment section. so NO. I will trust my own conclusions because im not a stupid drone. What makes you think your opinion is the only valid way to see this issue. Oh elevated one, please enlighten me, what are we to do if another contry employs and mass produces drones AI and we dont have them. What then? What is our contry to do when it drops by half due to boomers passing and leaving only the next generation of half its total and we need the men power to defend ourselves but cant acheve it realisticaly. Do we refuse to use machines then? Life is not about ethics.
I do not believe, that these “ robots “ are recently developed, I believe they have far more superior and sophisticated human looking in every aspect, “ robots “ they are only introducing US with their “ mechanical “ old prototype. These are my personal gut feelings. This was already developed, planned , a very long time ago . And since then, I believe they hide their superior technology that they have been showing slowly, to get us prepped. I do not believe anything good could come from this because “ man’s greed and power “

The rule is we don’t get within 10 feet of the robot while the hydraulics are on This looks like a terminator, do you get that a lot? This is a friendly life saving robot. Did he not just get through saying we don’t get within 10 feet of it?
Only 3 years later, these kind of robots are much, much better, faster, no need to be attached to electric cables, silencer, flexible. Just look at the new Atlas and Disney acrobatics robot.
Even president Eisenhower when he was leaving office warned us about the military!! In Walt Disney's animated movie "Nine" the processor who created the machine was betrayed by the dictator who after promising the machine would only be used for peaceful purposes who then prograned the machine to create killer robots who eventually wiped out humanity and all life.....great documentary!! Peace
They keep telling us of all the peaceful purposes. My answer is ...sure, I believe you. LOL and Iraq had nuclear material and the Gulf of Tonkin was real.
Basically humans are assholes to themselves. They fear that there could be a ai uprising demanding for equal rights and they don't want that. Remember slavery. They want slaves but metal ones.
@@kaiusernameisbetter2522 So there's no reason to build these robots? Smarten up Kai, every gun needs a person to handle it, a person that can bleed and die. Robots don't bleed and they don't die. Oh, and they aim about a thousand times more accurate. And can operate in the dark. Probably can trace heat patterns. And don't need sleep. And have no emotions. See the difference Kai? The guys selling these things for millions can probably explain it even better.
I don't understand here statement on "We are not opposed to artificial intelligence, but we are against robots that can target, and kill someone on its own." Wouldn't artificial intelligence potentially lead to something like that?
MrGovenator1 Artificial intelligence is a widely defined and perceived term. Even a simple computer program in a particular sense 'thinks for itself' in that it can carry out a set of programmed instruction unaided once they are programmed in and the sequence started. Ultimately all any computer can do is carry out instructions that were programmed in. Even the self learning robots collect and store data that is used for correction in a way that was precisely programmed by a human. Regarding gaining a will of their own apart from the person programming the machine, that is not possible. Robots are not sentient beings with a self will. They merely carry out instruction. They give us the impression that they are thinking as we do, but they merely mimic us because the designers made them that way. The reality is that we have no idea how to build a machine with a self will. We don't even understand how 'free will' or self will in a human works. It's a topic that has been studied and debated for a very long time. Robots are not even close to self determination. Those that believe they are, are more familiar with the science fiction movies than they are familiar with how these machines actually work. With this said, Jody is absolutely correct in saying that the military will weaponize the robots. Look at all military technology that we have today already. It's a form of robotics that can kill efficiently, powerfully with it's operator at a distance which does two things: 1) Protects the operator from the potential harm of personal engagement. 2) Isolates the operator from the horror of the action making it surreal, much like a video game, thus removing humanity / empathy from the equation of harming another human being. Is this new? Not at all. Just like the crew of the Enola Gay, dropping it's nuclear warhead from high above Japan, the modern soldier can be isolated from not only the danger, but the emotional impact of doing damage to fellow human beings. The scientists / developers will not stop creating these robots any more than the scientists who developed the nuclear bomb could or would stop. It's not only their living in that their work is funded by the military, but also the challenge is irresistible just as it was with the bomb. Some of the scientists making the bomb buried their head in the sand employing denial that it would not be used. The wiser people knew, but kept going because man is really not 'good' at heart, but selfish, Egotistical.
Fred Flintstone That got really deep. Okay, so the way you are explaining it would seem that my knowledge of AI is what science fiction has us to believe. In that case, lets think about it in that sense for a second. If AI was exactly how it was portrayed in the movies, and we ever did manage to develop that sort of technology. It could potentially led up to my original comment? I have no real knowledge of robotics or engineering, or even that sort of software development. So I more questioning what sounded like a statement that contradicted its self.
MrGovenator1 One of the reasons I got into the definition of AI is because the question becomes moot when we consider how robots work. A robot will not decide of it's own free will, or let's say 'apart from it's programming' that it's a good idea to harm people. But let's just say for the sake of discussion that it would be possible to create a Self willed sentient machine. I think your question is that sentience could potentially lead to Machines that decide for themselves to kill people. One of my favorite movies as a youth was the 'Forbin Project' The movie was centered on this idea. The computer system decided that people were harmful to themselves and others around them so it decided it should be in charge of the human race and make all important descisions. Those descisions included killing people who got in it's way.. Who knows what would motivate true AI computers? Their programs written by humans? Perhaps, but the idea of the sentient computer that becomes completely autonomous is that it breaks free of the constraints of it's programming and moves on to higher, better thinking. Would the machines care about humans? I see no reason for them to do so, but at the same time I don't see any reason to think they would be agressive toward humans. If programmed for self survival they might knock a person down who got between it and the wall plug when it's batteries were running low... ;-) Concerning the ability of computers and robotics in the present, a robot can be programmed to automatically do certain pattern and profile recognition, so without so called AI (the scifi brand), it's possible for robots to be deadly toward people and this is controlled by the most dangerous animal on planet earth. The human. Also, technology goes wrong, so a robot that identifies enemies will no doubt sooner or later go 'haywire', and kill the wrong people. As the video demonstrated, drones are used to blow up buildings where a number of people meet together. Could have been a potluck dinner, but the powers that control these things don't care. Blast anything that moves.
First, you can't stare into a soul of a robot, 2nd, if we don't stay on the cutting edge of this tech, our enemies will, and believe me, they don't take ethics class.
the only "enemies",the u.s has,,is its self,it created,afganistan,iraq,911,for its own ends,with out war,the u.s has nothing,,no one else cares,,no one else wants war..just the fucking u.s retards..yes,id like to live there,its a great place,.,but so fucking paranoid.grow the fuck up,will you.!!!.
3:30 "This is for rescue operations !" Yeah, this is laughably transparent. First there's not the demand for "rescue robots" to fund this. There simply are not enough of the incident where these would be needed to be a practical market. The reason why the military devised this scenario was that the disaster area that might require those hypothetical robots are very similar to the environment of infantry combat. I wonder if the people making those robots are only lying to us or if they are lying to themselves also.
Asimov's laws of robotics need to be upheld and enforced. There should be a man in the middle in all military implementations of robotics, as someone needs to be accountable for the actions taken.
reality is hard. tbqh Id be happy getting blown away by a drone if i had to life in a muslim country. I would already be happy if someone blow my head off with a shotgun right now though

"Also, I am of the opinion that Carthage should burn." Our ancestors were straight up genocidal on a regular basis. They felt that it was right and natural to kill everyone connected to the people that you fought to ensure that there would be no retaliation in the future. What is wisdom?
We are already under surveillance 24/7, next we will be required to have a robot "caretaker" accompany us everywhere we go in the name of safety and security so it can print a bill for you every time you go 1 MPH over the speed limit or jaywalk.
We don't need robots to turn against humans, we have humans for that... give those humans the ability to command a bunch of unquestioning killing machines because you think they'll be used to fight on "your side", you'll discover there's no such things as "sides", some power hungry ruler who's never met you doesn't think of you as being on "their side". There are no sides, there's only people and power, and when people no longer need other people to form their power, only the person who gives the commands will matter, and "THEY" ain't part of your "WE".
+annoloki could never have said it better. I am positive a soldier will never fire a gun at a civilian, much less a person from the same country as them, no matter if they are a guy or a girl. They also love life, they have their own life ahead of them. A machine has none of these. Does not care about who it works for, gives not a shit that it is being sent to a place where it could get blown to bits, and follows orders without insubordination. (Yes sometimes disobeying orders is the right choice, period). Neurocomputational science may even give people the ability to wire the robot to take pleasure in killing and all that, something the government may want since it could boost the effectiveness of the machine. @@theshermantanker7043 "I am positive a soldier will never fire a gun at a civilian" I like the rest of your post, but why do think a soldier would not hurt a civilian? If you're watching videos about killer robots I'd assume you've seen a least a few about crimes and atrocities committed by soldiers.
You guys need to go easy on the fear mongering style questions. Like the guy at the start said, a car is more dangerous than these robots. Get some perspective.
datastreamer Let's see if you say the same thing in ten years. Think about people who are killed by drone in Pakistan and can't even afford to buy a car. What is more dangerous ? The car or the robot ? At the moment the robot industry is still a baby. But in a couple of years it will be different. In widsom hands a robot can help or even save your life, in bad hands it can hurt or even kill you. I don't know where you're based but enjoy to wake up everyday without the fear that the army is not looking at you to kill you. I love technology when it used and make to help human being or help you to be more "smart". But when rage and stupidity are connected with technology it the time that you have to run fast.
datastreamer the key perspective is in weaponising the technology. Strap a machine gun to a car and it becomes a Humvee. Put AI behind the wheel which we know can be done (driverless cars) and AI behind the gun, and tada! You have yourself a fine military unit.
She keeps referring to them putting machine guns on those robots, Jesus lady you watch way too much terminator! Those aren't fuckin T-1 terminators, they're just advanced toasters strapped to wheels, you wanna put guns on that??
And the meth labs. Then they will go after the heroin addicts. Then they will bust down the door on pharmacies that sell opioids to addicts. We can have them run down drunk drivers. No sudden movements! They should then kill all of the major traffickers. Hey, what about all organized crime. We could even have them patrol the school houses to keep the children safe. Remember guns don't kill people. People... I mean robots kill people. Every church and synagogue should have an armed robot posted at the door because some people keep going there to kill people. Maybe one day I can own one and send it to people I don't agree with. It should be covered by the second amendment right? I bet you will really want to be extra nice to rich people then.
@John RothanThat'll get through the armor alright. The point is that they will (AI robots) have layers of protection , that we would have to neutralize before we can take out the Faraday Cage, exposing the electronic components and the motherboard to an EMP weapon. They will also learn and adapt quickly to all attacks.
Sure. But do we want that? War as a diplomatic Instrument means Sacrifice. Without Sacrifice, War becomes Meaningless. If we draw the Sacrifice out of War, the severity of it would be weakened drastically and Men would forget how important it is to avoid War at all cost. Only the Fact that we send People to die for a "noble" cause makes a War worth fighting.
"Without Sacrifice, War becomes Meaningless." That is so wrong in any place other than your Freshman Philosophy class. The point of war is not to send your own people to die and provide some "meaning". The point is to kill and destroy the other side until they become either unable or unwilling to continue fighting and yield to your demands.
"There is nothing the military makes it doesn't want to weaponise." No shit sherlock theyre the military.
They will be friends with psychopaths whom they tell everything not realizing the person is a psychopath until it is too late.
burningbum the military invented tampons hahahhaha
Here's the simple truth and there is no escaping it. Anything that can be weaponized will be weaponized otherwise the other side gains an advantage.
@Sammy Spaniel - And now we are getting ready to weaponize space, against UN protocol.
Rule 1: if it can be weaponized, it will.
Doctor Strangerlove that's rule one? Rule one to what?
Doctor Strangerlove rule number 2 the Chinese will copy it ,mass produce it and sell it back to us
Cool Cat and for half price, but expect 60-90 day shipping times 😂😂
Rule 2: If it can't be weaponised, scrap it.
That lady was spot-on when she said the military does not make anything they do not weaponize....
Anthony Goodley The difference is with AI it doesn’t allow the Robot to rewrite its own firmware

jmac217x It seemed like the reporter was trying his best to be a massive prick.
jmac217x exactly, growing up following this subject like a hawk, I'm convinced the reality of robots living with us will make our lives better. :)
jmac217x Yeah, especially when it comes to the military, who has, in this stage of the development, the most to gain from their existence.
jmac217x like killing? That would be their greatest use right? When a manned military is no longer needed. A minority can control the majority with revolution unfeasible.
Last para. It's sow.

2 or 3 years after this video, they had a robot capable of doing back flips. They only "tweaked" the program.
fuck were gonna need a bigger pitch folk
For this we are going to need Poseidon`s trident, gdi! :)
lol!
Why is a weaponized humanoid robot worse than a weaponized soldier with PTSD?
16 Bit Images They can make more of them. They would be deadlier, probably smarter, faster and fearless.
Kree, Jaffa!
How does that answer his question?
If something goes wrong with the programing, robots could cause more havoc, than a single crazed man.
Kree, Jaffa! if something goes wrong in the program the program won't work .-. coding ooooh aaaaaah.
No program is without bugs. Some of them still "work" when they bug out.
No self thinking machine should ever kill a human, ever.
How would you stop it from deciding it needed to kill one person to protect another?
I have no issue when i see countries like japan creating humanoid robots, Yet i immediately shit myself when merica gets involved.
One word for you: Nanking.
Scary yes but if your in a wheel chair...the most exciting time ever.
Knowledge is power and use your power to attain enough knowledge so we all will not be very sorry in five years or sooner!!!
thank you, !!!!!!!
we will end making costly mistakes like in the past
nuclear race
pollution
climate change
now whats next?
rise of the robots?
rise of the AI
the issue that hawking, max and lately elon musk are talking about
surfpace even the killer robots
they are talking about something that have as much or more impact than nuclear power had
nuclear power promised energy abundance but opened a can of worms, like the ability to cause human extinction on large scale
the super-AI is equal or greater of a pandora box than any of those past human human civilization's boxes
i think with super-AI human as a whole will surrender their ability to think to another new species
and let it manage the world for them
now the question is to know what this super-AI gonna do with humans

Peace
Disney didn't make that movie....
Nothing moves technology faster than war, or more specifically, its application for war.
They keep telling us of all the peaceful purposes. My answer is ...sure, I believe you. LOL and Iraq had nuclear material and the Gulf of Tonkin was real.

Let's face it, if it only kills 'the others', we're gonna be okay with it.
Bad news though, anybody can make these and unleash them on the public.
The bilderbergers are not our friends.
@thebushdoctor68 Many people in the us have guns so and they can unleash them on the public so ur arguement is pointless.
@@kaiusernameisbetter2522 So there's no reason to build these robots? Smarten up Kai, every gun needs a person to handle it, a person that can bleed and die. Robots don't bleed and they don't die. FunnyBot: Hukanity creates funnybot, funnybot destroys Humanity.
I don't understand here statement on "We are not opposed to artificial intelligence, but we are against robots that can target, and kill someone on its own." Wouldn't artificial intelligence potentially lead to something like that?
MrGovenator1 Well technally you could program a High EQ into a robot
It's a form of robotics that can kill efficiently, powerfully with it's operator at a distance which does two things:
1) Protects the operator from the potential harm of personal engagement.
MrGovenator1
One of the reasons I got into the definition of AI is because the question becomes moot when we consider how robots work.
If programmed for self survival they might knock a person down who got between it and the wall plug when it's batteries were running low... ;-)
Concerning the ability of computers and robotics in the present, a robot can be programmed to automatically do certain pattern and profile recognition, so without so called AI (the scifi brand), it's possible for robots to be deadly toward people and this is controlled by the most dangerous animal on planet earth.
MrGovenator1 They would have to gain consciousness for that which is impossible as of now because scientists don't even know what consciousness is.
What that lady with the glasses doesn't realize is, if you don't it first, the enemy will. Wake up.
That's the conclusion I came up with....
First, you can't stare into a soul of a robot, 2nd, if we don't stay on the cutting edge of this tech, our enemies will, and believe me, they don't take ethics class.
Lolz at "enemies"
the only "enemies",the u.s has,,is its self,it created,afganistan,iraq,911,for its own ends,with out war,the u.s has nothing,,no one else cares,,no one else wants war..just the fucking u.s retards..yes,id like to live there,its a great place,.,but so fucking paranoid.grow the fuck up,will you.!!!.
3:30 "This is for rescue operations !"
Yeah, this is laughably transparent. First there's not the demand for "rescue robots" to fund this.
There simply are not enough of the incident where these would be needed to be a practical market.
The reason why the military devised this scenario was that the disaster area that might require those hypothetical robots are very similar to the environment of infantry combat.
I wonder if the people making those robots are only lying to us or if they are lying to themselves also.
it is inevitable, so don't be afraid of progress and the future.

There are no sides, there's only people and power, and when people no longer need other people to form their power, only the person who gives the commands will matter, and "THEY" ain't part of your "WE".
annoloki well said
+annoloki could never have said it better. The exploits of such a system is too obvious.
There's no such thing as that shit. There's a reason they're called SEMI-autonomous. Learn your Latin roots, soy boys.

Why is the woman campaigning against bipedal robots in the first place
does she not understand that the tracked platforms are more efficient
But then dont you think there will be a time when the car is less dangerous than the robot?
There seems to be concern that the military makes weapons out of everything the develop. Isn't what the military is supposed to do?

Aand a lot of other people's houses, based on "anonymous tips".

If we draw the Sacrifice out of War, the severity of it would be weakened drastically and Men would forget how important it is to avoid War at all cost.

The point of war is not to send your own people to die and provide some "meaning". The point is to kill and destroy the other side until they become either unable or unwilling to continue fighting and yield to your demands.
