  • The lovely third of a mile walk to the south entrance to the Berwick Tunnel, near Shrewsbury, Shropshire has over the last few years been reclaimed from an impassible mess of fallen trees and overgrown brush to become one of our showpiece stretches.
Unfortunately in the first half of 2022 we had to let it go a bit in order to focus limited resources on the north end of the tunnel but some of our Shrewsbury team have now been able to return to this section and begin the process of making it presentable again.
In this video we walk you along the route to the tunnel entrance, catching a few of the yellow jackets as we go - they can be a shy breed!
There's a surprise at the tunnel and then on the way back Stuart updates us on work planned for the next few weeks.
    We hope you enjoy.

As a Salop lad who played by the canal and fascinated by it , used to hunt for old bottles down by the uffington section by the old bridge that had the myth of the white lady ghost no longer there sadly went after the new road construction .it's great to see the on going work an effort , hopefully the funding will eventually come to reopen this canal would be awesome addition to a lovely county .and also potential for new old business and homes ..

Will this canal ever be used as a canal?

Anthony there's no reason why not and that is indeed what we're working towards. Around the country there are about 500 miles of already restored canals and about another 500 miles still in progress like ours.
