I do not understand how Animal Control felt they did not have enough proof if she was able to leash the dogs and they had blood on them. And this Defendant should not even have animals if he has the type of job he stated and is hardly even home or gone for such long periods of time. Obviously, his brother, who lives there is not doing a great job.

you'd be surprised at what animal control deems sufficient. the people who lived behind me at first had 8 hunting dogs in an elevated cage, excrement throughout it, animal control was called out several time because of incessant barking, then some time after they were taken out of the elevated cage and given 5 gallon buckets with hay in them to sleep on. Once again animal control says everything was fine. the barking continued and more neighbors complained. the next door neighbor called a tv station and they came out and did a story, I was one of the many neighbors who complained. WHen the animal control guy came back out and then was interviewed by the tv crew he stated that no one had every complained about the dogsbefore,

I live out in a rural area where people have a lot of land, and some have livestock, and all I can say is that most folks out here wouldn’t have hesitated to shoot both of those dogs, had things really happened the way she says they did. Either way, that guy sounds like an irresponsible pet owner, and he needs to take better care of his animals, or relinquish them to good homes where they will be properly cared for.

    • @deanwinchesterinthedarktower
      @deanwinchesterinthedarktower 3 месяца назад

I agree that the dogs would have been "taken care of" if they were actually vicious. Boxers aren't big. And if the dogs were getting under the fence, coyotes definitely could have. I think the pony got attacked by coyotes, and the dogs smelled it when they came outside. They got over the fence, and took a bite.
But for the husky to have superficial damages tells me there wasn't a huge fight over the pony.
Also, a husky in the desert is just rude. Also, they're not really livestock guardian dogs. So that seemed fishy to me that she would have a husky as their LGD.
She also said that ponies live to be 40. But their lifespan is really between 20-30 years.
She conflated a lot and took advantage of the judge not knowing much about the subject.
The guy definitely needs to be held accountable for his dog's getting out at all, though.

@@deanwinchesterinthedarktower I think you are overestimating the size of coyotes. They aren’t wolves. Not much bigger than boxers and they weigh less, especially coyotes that live in desert regions. Of course a pack of coyotes could take down a pony. But why would they not eat almost any of it. They have very sharp teeth and would have pulled away much more flesh. The muzzle of the horse looks chewed on.

Decades later, my father-in-law was attacked in his own yard in Yuma. There is no animal control in that area and the Sheriff's Office refused to do anything. First off, I didn't hear anything about any violence from the dogs before the pony attack. It seems that's a good reason to not be terribly concerned.
That pony being trained the way it was was worth much more than $1000.
As far as guilt goes.... She found the dogs there at the scene covered in blood. Pretty damning evidence in my book. Wish she had taken pictures. But I'm sure she was more concerned about her pony and dog than a future court case.
Someone else mentioned the income loss from losing the trained pony. Good point.

Absolutely no doubt that boxers would do that. I have a family member who has always had boxers, god knows why. They've all had extreme behaviour problems, trying to lunge at a kids neck, one killed a neighbor's cat, and all just generally very aggressive and unpredictable, and their behaviour tends to get a lot worse when they aren't attended, especially with more than 1. They have way too much energy for irresponsible dog owners, and it seems like that's always who wants them. Boxer people in general always seem oddly weird in the same ways. I've successfully been able to pick them out without actually knowing on many occasions (working in the dog world) it's a strange phenomenon lol.
No offense to responsible boxer owners. (Not the "furbaby" type people)

However, this is absolutely as much fault her fault as it is his.
People these days have to get out of the quote, I love all animals thing if they want farm and country living.
What would have stopped these dogs from killing her pony would’ve been had never fed or watered them, and had she shot one or all of them the second they came on her property.
I was raised in the country, and as much as I love animals, if a strange dog wandered onto our property, the first attempt to detour them would be to fire a shot in the air. The second time you fired the shot into the dog.
But this was back during a time when it wasn’t about kids riding ponies at the circus, it was about surviving based on what you raised.
Perhaps if more people would get back to old school farm and country living, they wouldn’t have these problems.

He is a firefighter who dosent look after his dogs at all and because of this they ended up in the plaintiffs property to kill the pony. His brother dosent even look after the dogs either if he is also living at the home where he is too lazy to give the dogs water. Maybe this firefighter should have these dogs removed from the home and rehomed, because i beleive if an animal is being neglegted which is evident here in this case that the dogs have no water in the desert on a hot day to the point the neighbour is the one providing it.
I feel that the plaintif should have gotten more than $2000 because the responsiblity is on both of them which includes the firefighter who owns the dog and took the lazy way and insufficeint way to keep his dogs enclosed and secured on his property. It is evident that he simply didnt give a dam if his dogs did kill the pony. I feel sorry for the dogs that they are being neglegted and for the pony to be killed because of the firefighters and his brothers negligence and complete utter laziness.

I feel bad for the plaintiff but I honestly don’t believe her fully and I find it was her fault to because she kept making the boxers feel welcome on her side by feeding them and associating with them daily. I get she feels bad for the dogs but it wasn’t like they were skin and bone.
And having to put down a pony because it was having a breakdown? Lol I really don’t believe that. That’s ridiculous and unnecessary. Imagine if humans have to be down for throwing a tantrum and having a breakdown 😂 I’ve seen dogs and cats that go attacking people or continuously have breakdowns and they don’t even get put down smh. And how do you not know the worth of the pony when you own them and claim your an animal lover? Only ones I feel bad for are the animals.

If you aren't going to provide that, then you shouldn't have an animal. She failed to. If there is no city or county ordinance that says he has to keep his dogs chained then why would she build a weak fence and take a chance of some animal getting at her horse. And if there's an adequate fence, why should he need to chain up his dogs?
