This episode was pretty good! But at the same time, kind of underwhelming... I can’t put my finger on what it is exactly, but the hype wasn't 100% fulfilled :( atleast the actors did an amazing job and the episode was visually stunning, Miguel Sapochnik has great taste when it comes to cinematography!

When you realise Ramsay's 20 good men could have snuck through the army and killed the Night King before the battle even began.
Sadly, the should fought together, Jon didn't tell Ramsey about the white walkers
@@thejohnson2328 i dont think ramsey would have ever agreed to that, but considering they ruined other character arcs in this show it could have been a possibility (if he didnt die of course )

the reason it was underwhelming was that this isn't what made GOT great. we all enjoyed the characters, the scheming, the plotting, backstabbing, twists to gain the iron throne. to me this felt like a weird remake of world war z. sure the cinematography was fantastic, the actors did a good job and there were some cool moments but it was bizarre to watch. also maybe due to the fact that the characters that died i didn't really care about. sure they were good but not anywhere near my favorites
Keoki Johnston no the reason is that Martin doesn’t participate in there since season 5 if I’m correct plus they wrote the ending themselves

The Dothraki charge
The Unsullied and others standing in front of the trenches
The trenches being way too shallow
No pikemen on the walls
All of these main characters (Sam included) surviving a few thousand Wights on their own
Jorah dying but not Daenerys, seriously fuck you D&D
And I probably missed a few, but of course Arya killing the Night's King. Ultimate Snoke.
Couldn't they have dracarysed visereon? I mean he was a wight right

The Nightking had so many mysteries, was waiting for a mind battle between him and Bran that would reveal all the secrets, but na lets just make them stare at each other for a bit then stab him??? 😂
Fiona y’all are spoiled and will regret talking so much shit when there’s not another show with this kind of budget for a long time.
Harate I’m criticizing the writing choices nothing else. Speaking as someone who has spent time on film sets, I know the work that goes in to get one dialogue scene alone is astronomical, I can’t imagine how hard all these people worked to get those shots to make and produce the best episode possible. The Game Revealed documentary went into it but just thinking about how much effort and sleepless nights went into that makes my head hurt and I’m so unbelievably grateful to the entire production team. In a way I’m really sad and really mad because all that hard work was wasted on poor plot decisions all because the writers are too far up their own asses they couldn’t bear to have anyone make any decent predictions about what’s going to happen. I feel cheated and i feel so sorry for everyone else involved because it’s not their fault that the writing is shoddy, but they went and produced the best work possible anyway.

i think it was disappointing bc there were no real stakes. i was never really afraid any of the "mains" would die. jon surviving the mass of wights around him was just ridiculous and after the second time Brienne/Jaime/Tormund/Sam/etc almost died I just didn't care anymore.
great video by the way! I love the music choice. I think this episode would have been better served if there was more of a focus on the apocalyptic feeling and on a few people surviving (arya sneaking through winterfell was BY FAR the greatest part of the episode. if we had that for the entire episode i think it would have been stunning)

I totally agree!! For me, the Battle of the Bastards was more exciting.. The build-up of 8x03 was good, i had goosebumps but idk.. Maybe i expected more. But Arya was badass!

It’s just my opinion

And once you start thinking about it, that satisfaction will wear off.
god I love this music and the emphasis you placed at the beginning on everyone feeling so hopeless and overwhelmed! I wasn't a fan of the episode (the writing felt really off), but you still made it look soo badass!
I finally watched it and was finally able to watch your edit. This is so intense. It's like you pick the important frames and just nailed it. It works so well together. I love it. The episode broke my heart because I liked every character who died. The end? It went so fast. Like we waited since season 1 for the war and then one scene end it all? Wow... But I really love the fact that they brought the quotes of season 1 and 2... Again. For Arya. Like she was there to do it like always. Nfjsjandjdkanfjdlf. It was intense. I couldn't watch away. And I still hate daenerys. Like always. And the scene when Jon ran to the King and he did the hand thing. I thought wow. So everyone is going to die. I enjoyed the episode. It was hard to swallow. Sorry for the novel. :D

It was disappojnting because the pay off wasn't good
They had been building up the White Walkers for 8 seasons, an end of the world level threat along with so many interwoven storylines, the prince that was promised, babies being sacrificed to the Night King, everyone important getting Valyrian Steel, all the shenanigans with the 3ER's, list goes on and on and that's how it ends?
The white walkers have been preparing their return for like 1000s of years and they give NK the generic motivation of wanting to kill Bran?
and they have the battle end in a one episode fight against a girl who has absolutely no history with the white walkers/night king while Bran sits there the entire epsiode doing who knows what
Its possible the next couple of episodes might explain some stuff to retroactively improve what happended but its not gonna change the fact that the fight ended in one episode and little to none of the built up storylines getting pay off
I mean if you dont want Jon to get the final kill at least let him have a 1v1 swordfight against the enemy he's been preparing against the entire show ffs

It was already clear from season 7 that they were rushing things, id have loved them to slow the fuck down and give it more time
Especially if it eant they'd actually explain things and give the build up a proper pay off

It was underwhelming because they killed the main villain in the middle of the season instead of saving him for last. Anything after this will feel so small. Awesome edit
He was never the main villain though. The show is called Game of Thrones because it focuses on the civil war.
