When i saw this scene for the first time i started to forgive theon for what he did , but i completely forgive him when he helped Sansa.
Theon started as a character you don't care about, then turned into someone you hated, then turned into someone you felt sorry for, then turned into someone you were scared for, then finally turned into someone you love. This is how you write a character. 👏 Well done to the writers.
Chamith Waragoda one of the only characters they didn’t butcher writing-wise
i loved him from the beginning. but he obviously changed a lot in a good way
@@davidlang9794 I agree. Him, Cersei and Jamie, while still very different from their book counterparts, are the only characters in the show who remain well written despite GRRM's absence. This most recent episode was horrible, but even then, every moment which had Theon in it, I will look back on fondly.
Theon reminds me of Snape in Harry Potter!
ikr, couldn't stand him being a cocky dick in the beginning, but I ended up loving him by how far he's come and developed as a character, he went out like a fucking badass, just like Jorah, Lyanna and Melisandre :(
Theon was one of the most well written characters on any show ever and Alfie deserves at least an Emmy nom for his portrayal. Shameful that HBO submits Kit for nominations but not Alfie.
It is a shame Alfie isn't as recognized as the other actors. Or that Theon doesn't get the clout he deserves. He was hands down one of the best characters in the show, with the best personal storyline
@Booper Dooper That's very truet but the shows and networks have some to do with it. Promotions that center on certain characters, "For Your Considerations", etc.
@Booper Dooper Yeah, it's different from like, the Academy. I think the Academy does its own stuff, like you said, but Emmys and Golden Globes are a little different.
@Booper Dooper They do movies, tv series, limited series (like mini series), yeah.

Him and Jaime. I agree though
It’s surprising to me that there’s still people who don’t like Theon
Doesn't surprise me too much. He totally betrayed the North big time
NickStone68 then he made amends
Some people think what he did is unforgivable
Rob was kinda an ass to him....if you want to be honest. Jon gets a lot of shit from fans for not being smart....but he has heart and his words to Theon meant a lot. I think Yara, Sansa, Jon, and Bran really saved him.
Tbh most of the Starks were quite distant with Theon, they trusted him but they didn't treat him like one of their own(something similar that what Jon felt as a bastard)
Yeah he was a bit of an ass sometimes, but does that justify everything he did?
@@Wilantonjakov maybe not. But it's always the little things, things that doesn't seem matter, that will change a person. When Theon said he wanted fight for the Stark, instead of saying "No it's not your responsibility cause you're not Stark" Robb could just say "Thank you, Theon. It means a lot." there.. a simple thing that will change a whole lot.
Rob was an ass to him sometimes because he had doubts about him,rightfully...Theon used to be a bigger ass back then and Jon wouldn’t tell him those words if he hadn’t changed.
Yeah, Robb was an ass to him, but he trusted Theon the most.... He said that time and time again
“You were a terrible baby, did you know that? Always crying, always screaming. And one night you wouldn’t shut up. I stood over your crib and watched you lying there. I wanted to strangle you. But then you looked up at me, and you stopped screaming.

You just know when someone says their favorite character in GoT is Theon, you’re dealing with an empathetic, emotional wizard
fabi_87 u are absolutely right. In third place, I think I would put yara Greyjoy and Jorah Mormont. They don’t develop like these other two, but they are the characters that prefer the love above the honor or the family and remain loyal to it, even though they still try to serve other purposes.
Favourite since season 1 😭
Stannis, Jaimie, the Hound. Those are my top 3 in no order. Theon was another well done character.
Though his death is simply absolute sadness I am glad they gave him such an Epic and Honorable way to go.
He totally redeemed himself and got what he deserved, forgiveness, from both Bran and the viewers. Actually, when you think about it, Bran saying "you're a good man" is the most emotional thing Bran has said since he became the three eyed raven.Good job to Alfie Allen to perform such a complex character with a massive development. And that's the beauty of GOT,there is no thing like baddie and goodie, each character has so many aspects to it . You wanna die? I am all set to commit murder.
I really love that Bran said that to him. The cold and calculating person he's become seems like the kind of person who'd be like "Well, he's gonna die. Moving on." But he decided that he wanted Theon to hear that before he died. To me, it shows that some of Bran is still in there, and Bran felt Theon deserved acknowledgement of his redemption.

I was expecting that at the end there!
YESSSS
“What? Is there going to be a battle in the godswood?”
I never caught that damn what a good connection!
that's what he answers after theon says "if there is a war I will stand behind the starks" I think that line is even more insane, he said it exactly in the same spot he stood at the end too..
This shows again how Jon brings out the best in people around him, I liked Robb but Theon was right when he said Robb Stark always considered him an outsider and reminded him that even when he tried to be loyal to Starks.
Jon’s words that he is both a Greyjoy and a Stark brought back the real Theon.
That was the most underrated quality of Jon. He lacked a strong ego other rulers had (and I think this is the main reason why people underestimate him) but he surely knew how get people together and bring the best out of them. I'm sure there would have been a lot fewer deaths if they gave him enough credit. It's sad to see that this kind of quality still remains underrated, both in fiction and in real life.
Despite Robb alwayrs treating Theon as an outsider, it's clear that he loved Theon as a brother, that's why he was hurt to know of Theon Betrayal. And also why Theon was hurt by Robb death.
They where best friends, rivals and Brothers. In the show we didn't see that much of their friendship, but in the books it's pretty clear that Theon was closer to Robb than his own Stark Brothers (Including even Jon, even tough Jon and Robb where also great friends).
However i agree with you that Jon brings the best in people, even tough Jon on season 7 and 8 was pretty disapointing.
Rishabh Vashishtha so true!
@@Arthemis90 "They never see you coming do they Jon?"
But even in the books, Robb makes sure to remind Jon that he too isn't a Stark. Still, Jon bonds well with Robb and are like blood brothers.

Theon and Jaime had the best charcters developpement on the show
I would say Sansa. Look at Sansa S1E1 to S8E6. Complete transformation. Totally different attitude. From naive little girl to very politically shrewd. Highly respected.
Jamie reverted back to S1 Jamie.
Jamie S1E1 = Jamie S8E5
He is a classic Shakespearean tragic character.
Theon found himself. He came full circle. He realized he was a Stark all along. He died fighting for the Stark's at Winterfell at his request.
Sansa and Theon had a unique and close relationship because of their Ramsey experiences.
S1E1 = S8E5. Except he really believed he was a Stark, not just a ward.
Jamie Slayed the mad king because he cared for the population and he(the king) was trying to burn them all.
But later he says "I didn't care about the people, innocent or otherwise, I only care about cerise" which is weird, and that's a character contradiction.
David and Dan fucked his well formed character in one sentence.
Theon's character>Jamie's.
Finally. This man is a roller coaster of a character. "you're a greyjoy, and you're a stark"
"You are a greyjoy...and you are a stark" but ultimatley he is "a good man" 😭😭😭
@@chovue2363 your reek... 😂
This just goes to show what a great character Theon was and what a great performance Alfie Allen gave - he was one of the best actors on the show without a doubt.
"I could never be a Stark, Robb Stark always reminded me of that"
You can litterally hear the pain and the anger. Theon saw Robb as a best friend, a brother, but he was never that for the Young Wolf.
That line has been used out of context here. Robb never said that to theon. He considered theon as his best friend and vice versa. Theon wasn't thinking clearly when he said that
A tragic narcissist seed sown into Robb's mind by Catelyn - to love none who's not a Stark. Catelyn couldn't honestly love Jon as her own son. Robb acquired same traits. How come Robb could've loved Theon and treated him like his younger brother? He never used to spare even a slightest chance to ridicule, mock and insult Theon whenever he could.
And not only Theon but Robb, his wife, his unborn child and Catelyn herself - All had to bear brunt of this!!
@@nikhilawasthi2597 Theon's canonically older actually lol

Such a tragic story. We shall truly never see his like again. And thank you to Alfie Allen for evoking every little emotion with your masterful, utterly magnificent portrayal of such a brilliantly written character. I love you and I farewell to Theon. What is dead may never die!
I think we all know that the show has failed with portrayals of certain characters from the books but I undestand their time is limited and they can't live up to the high standards of the book series every time. But Theon Greyjoy... his journey was excellent in the show. Definitely one of the best. I knew he was going to die but his death tore me up anyway.
Yes he is a well-written, complex and tragic character, who just wanted to know who he truly is and at the end his path lead him to the final answer of his questions. That Winterfell was all along his true home.

Jon to Theon: You don't need to choose, you're a Greyjoy, and you're a Stark! 😭
Knowing the history he had with Jon and Robb, or House Stark in general, from the books makes this all the more hard to watch. Theon was taught the qualities and nature of a Stark, after being taken hostage thus becoming a ward of Ned by orders of Robert Baratheon, and was trained at arms by Ser Rodrik(whom had also taught the previous generation of Starks Brandon, Eddard, and Benjen) alongside both Robb and Jon.
So people who all of a sudden ask why and how theon was able to fend off that many on his own, forget that he was taught the same swordsmanship as Jon.
But he just wasnt at the same natural skill level as them, which is why no one expected him to kill the NK.
@@zimvader25 No one thought he would kill the NK period. We all knew he was going to die at that point, but he was good enough to hold off a wave of wights.
@@thesilentcartographer5575 I think no one in this show can fight NK with fair fight.
Not gonna lie, I thought Arya was going to drop the knife and Theon would pick it up and kill the NK :( I would've prefered that tbh
Theon wasn't as good with a sword or spear as Jon or Rob. He was a bowman.
Everyone always harps on about Jamie's redemption, but Theon's arc was always just more special to me for some reason.
True, also I think Jamie is not really sorry for what he's done.
Yeah, also a lot of people are claiming Jaime to be their favorite character (or at least most of the fans are totally willing to forgive him now), while being perfectly aware of all the stuff he's done.
He only left Cersei a year ago but "He'S sUcH a GoOd PeRsOn FoR dOiNg So OmG rEdEmPtIoN KInG 😍👍💕"
While Theon did some stupid and awful things for sure, but they don't care about his reasons/motivations, or about the fact that he spent his final years and moments in order to do good, change and becoming himself again.
But you know, "HE BETRAYED THE STARKS OMG WHAT A JERK FUCK HIM 😭"
@@Mianao1314 sansa betrayed her father and deserved at of it
Reek Well most of the characters betrayed other ones and/or did stupid or terrible things. That's life, that's human nature and most importantly, that's people trying to survive during the war. Jorah betrayed Daenerys, it doesn't mean he didn't love her. Arya served Tywin, it doesn't mean she wanted to join him. And so on... All of them made mistakes, some more than others. That's just what humans do when they have to make choices...
The fact that people keep bitching on Theon to this day when they already forgave other characters for all the shit they did is just stupid and it simply proves that they still don't see what the show is about...

When it's stretched out over 8 years it's to forget how much has happened and all the ups and downs. Incredibly well written character and one of the best most underrated performances from Alfie Allen. Very complex role to portray and he hasn't put a foot wrong.
Unpopular opinion, but Thekn was never a supporting character, he was viewed as a Main and POV Character. Otherwise he'd just been killed off like Oberyn.
@@thesilentcartographer5575 I mean in comparison to Dany, Jon, Jamie or Arya. But you're right. He's been there since the beginning and has his fair share of screen time. He's not supporting in the way Yara or Tommen is. That I can agree with.
We shall never use the word reek towards him. Not ever again

Theon Greyjoy's character arc truly is a rollercoaster ride of emotions, but to capture it like this?
This video is a work of genius.
He did such a Oscar level acting , what a character development.
He deserves this .
The only character who wasn't butchered by D&D. Fantastic development.
SpaceCat and Jorah
Jorah, Theon and Sandor.
However i must say, i liked Daenerys far more in this season than in the rest, even tough i hated this season. Season 8 was worst than season 7 and i never tought this was possible.
However no Butchering is worst than Stannis and Baelish, Dumb and Dumber simply threw both away because they didn't knew how to handle both characters.
@@ryangoldsmith4411 Jorah's arc is so tied to Danny that it's tainted heavily. Theon was the most complete and satisfying. The Hound had a good arc as well. They dropped the ball on so many arcs but credit where credit is due with Theon.
SpaceCat except the scene where he was kicked in the dick in s7
I'm crying again for my Theon Greyjoy/Stark💓 👑
He died as a Stark, and deserves to be buried as a Stark.
Thanks for making this video,is beautiful.
I'm Reek, it rhymes with freak
@@reek4062 you stopped being Reek in season 6.
@@amandableite3735 deep in my heart I always was Reek and will forever stay Reek, even when dead
This was beautifully edited. His character was complex but I'm glad he died defending his one true family.
That is why he is the most humane and my favorite character in GOT.....will always love you Theon ♥️♥️♥️❤️❤️♥️♥️❤️❤️
Preach ♡
Theon: dead. Jorah: dead. 2/3 of my favourite characters dead after 1 episode. Still got jaimie left
Omg I'm the same 😭 Though it is Sansa whom I have left. I do think Jaime is an incredible character though.
We all know that Jaime won't make it throught the end :/
@@Elfique98 maybe not, but he'll be a much better person by the end. And as we saw with Theon, it's not about surviving. It's about going out with honor, and doing the right thing.
mine are theon jaime and the hound
me 🙃
I have been crying far too long everytime I think of Theon and his journey. All these years he has been trying to right the wrongs he had done, and finally he did! Thank you for making this video and making me cry again! What is dead may never die!
One of the most underrated characters. Theon was a great development character, he went through all the stages. Happy, sadness, sorrow, joy, helping, betraying(not the real betraying, but it was hard for him to choose tho), as these are part of stages of human life.
Respect earned Theon. North remembers.
When Bran told him that all he did had led him home. Tears man 😭
His redemption is probably the best in the series.. With Jaime Lannister after him
I think it's a shame we never got a scene of Sansa and Yara talking about Theon
We needed more Yara on this show for sure
I bet Jorah's tribute is gonna be a big one
Of course. :)
@@Zurik23M And Jaime's should be epic...if he dies.
My Real Father Lost His Head At King’s Landing.
You should re-publish this video with that incredible moment on the pyre when sansa put the stark's signal on him... it was too strong and important to be ignored.
Yeeeees! Should have waited until the next episode to include this! :)
He killed two farmer's boys
He killed John wick's dog and stole his car
But, I still Love Theon
Theon is one of my favorites if not my favorite of all the show because of this. Such a well-written character. We started not caring about him, to hating him, to feeling pity, then respecting, and loving him. Alfie did such a good job with the portrayal of this character and deserves recognition. I think a big reason why I love this character is that I identify with him as a person and I think many others do too. Most of us want to do the right thing, be the right kind of person but do not know what that is. We are still trying to find ourselves.
Alfie has never gotten an Emmy nomination despite his brilliant performance in GOT
One of the reasons why I think he’s never gotten nominated is that the emmys nominate actors based on singular episodes. Not that Allen hasn’t had great scenes (his reaction to killing Rodrik or seeing the burnt bodies being hung in WF) but the greatness in his performance is really more about how much he has changed over the course of the series
Submitting a single episode really doesn’t show this. But allen gave one of the best, if not the best, performances in all of GOT. Certainly one of the tougher roles to play.
Sad to find out he wasnt nominated. He is a very good actor.
Lucbb B I’m glad he got his overdue Emmy nomination
He should of won, like 2 times. Not peter dinklage.
SquirtleMaster yeah but his english accent sucks. An emmy winner should perfect there accent
"Bran: You r a good man"...
RIP Theon Greyjoy💔😢😢😢
Even the Night King respected him in the end. RIP Theon, what is dead may never die!
How did the night king respect him? Did i miss something?
@@davidlenz3662 He didnt left his army killed Theon, he did. I think thats what the comment mean. At least NK respected Theon more than Jon.xD
Theon's arc was probably the only thing done amazingly in season 8.
Fuck off
Totally agreed
@@DaenerysTargaryenTheQueen lol salty because Dany got fucked over?
You know your favourite character of all time reached legend status when actual editing deity Zurik23M makes a video about him. I’m running out of words to properly express how much Theon Greyjoy means to me, but fortunately for me, you found a way to capture all of my emotions in one video. Thank you Theon, I love you, now and always!
I'm glad you liked it. Thank you! :)
Zurik 23M I absolutely loved it! It got me really emotional. Thank you so much for making it :’D
best character in the show, so underrated his story gives me goosebumps
Theon said his sword was Robb's, from this day until his last day and he died for Starks. He didn't break his oath. He died a good man. I miss him. What is dead may never die.
Theon's character and evolution is by far the best thing of this season, a pity that I can not say the same about the Night King or Jon.
I didn't like Theon at the beginning, but after all, he suffered the most and he died a hero's death
"You’re a good man, thank u"
Now thats everyting has endend, I can say Theon is the best exemple of character evoltuion, redemption and an incredible epic ending. From a 'no one care character' to one of the deepest of the show.
One of my favourite characters
Robb was really mean to Theon, always reminding him he wasn't a Stark and would never be one, despite Ned having raised him as one of his own. I think this why Theon wasn't really sure who to pay his loyalty, not that it justifies at all, but its part why he made all those poor choices and betrayed Robb, took Winterfell and killed those innocent boys, even helped the Boltons take Winterfell with his betrayal, BUT he had already redeemed himself when he saved Sansa, he just needed Bran's forgiveness, it was from him he took Winterfell, so he needed his pardon to die freely and a true Stark. Jon and Bran did what Robb couldn't, treated him like the Stark he was meant to be.
Theon was one of the most well developed characters in GoT Universe and i'll always love his history and how he died a hero.
Finally WHAT IS DEAD MAY NEVER DIE RIP THEON STARK GREYJOY
Robb and Theon were close like brothers, they grew up together and obviously trusted and loved each other. Brothers are sometimes mean to each other, but it doesn't mean Robb meant it the way he said it. He also reminded Jon many times that he is not a stark, but a bastard by calling him "Snow". And still he saw him as his Brother and a part of his house, just like he saw Theon.
Robb never reminded him he wasn't a Stark... In this edit the scene of Robb saying "it's not your house" has been placed to add to the tribute but it didn't play out like that in the show... We didn't even see Robb saying to Theon he wasn't a Stark other than that one scene, and he said it because Theon risked Brans life when he saved Bran so it's a matter of opinion who was right and it definitely isn't just Robb being a dick. In fact, when Theon actually tells Ramsay Robb always reminded him he wasn't a Stark he admits Robb didn't actually tell him that it was just Theon being jealous and the Starks were the family he lost at the siege of Pyke.
So what do you mean "Robb was really mean to Theon" he wasn't. You've just made that up, it's the complete opposite given it was Theon who betrayed Robb right after Robb declared Theon as his brother.
This is 100% incorrect. Robb and Theon were best friends, in fact Robb was closer with Theon whom he had no relation to than he was with Jon who was (believed) to be his half brother. Robb was not "mean" to him. Also, while Ned is incredibly noble, it is explained in the books that Theon felt that he was cold towards him. This is what makes his motivation to find acceptance so believable: while Ned did raise him, everyone understood that Theon was in fact a political hostage.
@@jameslove1162 when Robb said " it's not your House" it was BEFORE Theon saved and risked brans life. Also Robb might reminded him offscreen many times that he is not a stark, otherwise Theon wouldn't have said that about Robb. He Always wanted to be accepted as one of them and searched for belonging, but the Starks didn't give him the feeling that he is one of them. Even in the books, it's pointed out that theon imagined himself marrying Sansa, so that he could become Neds son, but it was just a foolish, childish wish of him. Because No matter how much Ned tried to play a father towards him, Ned also always kept the distance.
In fact Robb was the only one among the Starks that actually cared for Theon. Theon and Robb where closer than Robb and Jon. Also, Robb Always saw him as a Brother. Robb was the only stark to approach Theon. Jon and Theon never liked each other because Jon was shy and Theon was a dick, Arya and Rickon where too Young to befriend Theon, Brann also never had a close relationship with him, althoug they never really disliked each other. And Sansa treated Theon better than she Treated Jon, however they where never really close (Despite the fact that Theon was in love with Sansa on the books). While Robb would train with Theon, ride alongside him, hunt with him, and party with him. it's pretty clear that Theon was Robb best friend and Vice Versa. You can clearly see that by Robb reaction to Theon betrayal, he was not angry at Theon, he was hurt. Exacly like Theon when he heard about Robb death.
Also, about Ned being cold to Theon, it's explained that it's Ned personality, he is Always cold, that's why he was feared by his enemies, because no one could tell what Ned was thinking, while his other Brothers, Like Brandon and Lyanna, where all open and showed their emotions all around, Ned Always knew how to hide it (It's also said that it was because Ned was Always a shy man, however since he had a serious face, this helped to grow his legend since no one but his close relatives knew that he acted cold because in fact, he was only shy), That's why Ned title was "The Quiet Wolf"
Bran came our of his three eye raven role for one last drop of empathy and love and it made theon a proud man again, he is a good man
