    From 17:15 on, Jerry nails such a brilliant riff. it actually starts with an idea he is toying with at around 16:40. But he raises it an octave and then refines it to perfection. it seriously shouldve been part of the song. It's just a simple variation of the main riff and chord changes, but it just works so well. Pure MuTron mixelydian heaven. Jerry is on fire for this one.

    This may not the best Scarlet>Fire ever, but it certainly is one of the best. The telepathic connection within the band is incredible. It's a masterclass demonstration of their control of dynamics and improvisational flexibility-creativity. Many people have argued Keith was basically asleep after '77 (if not earlier) but he is so ON here, following Jerry so well, and Phil and Bobby so inventively playing beneath them. If you haven't yet heard the Samson & Delilah and Truckin'>TOO>WR>A&A from this same show, don't wait! Also among the best versions ever. On Dick's Picks 18 of course.

      I felt asleep one night listening to this piece of heaven on earth and the craziest around and around woke me up like I had been hit by lightning. 78 was uneven but when they were on fire they were at their best

    • @williamdonnelly224
      @williamdonnelly224 Год назад +1

      Listening very carefully, I would respectfully but firmly say that Keith is not ON here, but I will say he seems at least half awake and somewhat aware of the great music being played at this show.I Probably come off as negative with this post, but sorry that's the truth as I perceive it. For great playing from Keith, ANY show from 10/71 through 75 he was masterful; it's so sad that such a shy and talented man let it slip away, Could happen to any of us.

      The estimated >eyes is nasty ! It was like Jerry's fingers were hammers and the effects were saturating the sound as only he could do laying down the lead around the 12 minute mark ( can't remember exactly been so long since I heard it ) . One of my favorite combos of the two songs. I need to get a new copy one of the disks was needed by a friend more than I needed it some years ago . I truly hope wherever it is it is blowing someone's mind

    As much as I love this great Jerry scarlett/fire guitar flow, he totally forgot verse 5......Well there ain't nothin' wrong with the way she moves,
    All scarlet begonias or a touch of the blues.
    And there's nothing wrong with the look that's in her eyes
    I had to learn the hard way to let her pass by, let her pass by.

    Sonically the best ever. From the opening note, the way Jerry heard Keith and vice versa- and played off each other has amazed me for decades. Those two took Scarlet-Fire on 2-5-78 to a whole different level(sorry if you think Cornell 5-8-77 was the pinnacle). Thunder Phil drops, and they play off the vibe of the resonance of the UNI-Dome Coliseum.
