My optimistic outlook on the idea of getting new levels in this port, is that the team could figure out what makes generations' level design so good as they go through the work of recreating all of it. Any good team would see the original levels and use them as a template, so that the new content they create can fit in with what's already there and make a cohesive package. I dont have high hopes but there's a small chance it could be good
As someone who has been hoping for a Generations remaster/remake/rerelease, for several years, I can only PRAY that they don’t fumble the ball (again).
most of colors soundtrack was composed by kenichi tokoi, who composed unknown from me from sonic adventure 1 and 2, and most of sonic riders, secret rings, and colors' ost. he remixed planet wisp's songs in colors ultimate, alongside jun senuoe and tomoya ohtani, jun remixed the boss music, ohtani remixed aquarium park and tropical resort, and kenichi tokoi remixed planet wisp, sweet mountain, and asteroid coaster. funny thing is that most of the instruments used for colors ultimate were reused in frontiers, so ig while remixing colors they decided to remix it using presets from frontiers since they were already working on that.
I've said this before, but I truly believe that it doesn't make sense to do a Generations Ultimate since Generations was explicitly made for the 20th anniversary, so just randomly re-releasing it kind of defeats its significance
I’m taking everything with a hefty glass of salt and going to assume that they are going to reveal the shadow skin for sonic superstars that sega confirmed a Sonic generations remaster with something involving shadow doesn’t really make a lot of sense
A remaster I don’t necessarily oppose, however I own Generations on PC and I still have my 360 copy from when I got it in 2011 which I can play on my Series X at 4K 60FPS. So if the remaster is dogwater I just won’t purchase it and continue to play the copies of the game I already have.
From what I understand Blind Squirrel isn't and armature developer as they have made remasters for Bio-shock Mass effect and even helped co-develop for God of War (2018) so I think Colors ultimate was more of a result of rushed development + as you said having to rebuild the game from scratch.
Sonic fans: we are mad we lost sonic designers to better paying publishers. Sega: okay we will pay them more Sonic Fans: $70 for a game that will drop to $40- $20 in year. heck no.
i heard that part of the reason why sonic forces turned out to be the way it is was because developers focused way too much on play testing with children leading to the game becoming way too easy , this along with the possibly that the game was developed by the team responsible for developing colors and lost world which were directed by morio kishimoto , which make you wonder why the game was advertised as being developed by the team that brought you sonic colors and generations , when generation had a different director , with the game having absolutely good level design with branching paths , also why does morio kishimoto has a tendency to make sonic games way too easy and scripted , not that surprising though since he worked on the story book series , but why do that in main line games any way
If this is real, there are something that i feel that needs to be improved on the game, the first thing that comes to mind is the sound looping, it's especially noticeable during classic Sonic's game play in green hill. Also i didn't like the super sonic racing remix and the remix of city escape song in generations , i love the original tracks
Although i think a remaster is not needed, (other than being able to play the game in current gen consoles) maybe having a remaster could be a good thing. Imagine if they rework planet wisp, or improve the score system, or fix some issues and stuff.
also i think the remixes are meant to be alternate takes on the songs, rather than replacements for the original. even the planet wisp act 1 remix you mention still has the piano and strings, just a lot more edm synths in it then the original, maybe to represent a little more the destruction of planet wisp compared to the original. in act 1 you mention the beautiful scenery yet almost immediately your thrusted into eggmans unfinished factories. maybe the music is meant to represent that, idk but even if you dislike it, i hope you don't hate the piece since i don't really think it's bad honestly.
@@MiguelMustNerd nah man, it's your opinion and i think your take is pretty valid since this is not some one off remix but a remaster, they should have enhanced the original song, not do smth different. but besides the tonal dissonance i'm still able to enjoy it since i still think it's a good remix. however stuff like sweet mountain act 2 is unforgivable in ultimate.
also my last point here, sega made you pay extra for the planet wisp remixes, not the original songs. in fact they added they gave the original songs for free in an update at the beginning of 2022, so yeah you were kinda wrong there, but no hate i had to look it up rn bcs i forgot too.

it's not going to be like colors ultimate i can already tell. the remaster is being worked on internally, and with segas own assets so we get segas quality control on their own game. the game is only being ported into hedgehog engine 2 so we already know its going to look great for the most part. im only concerned about the physics since, gens uses havoc engine which Sega no longer has access to, so they might have to use the bullet engine instead which means the physics might not be 1 to 1.
Hedgehog engine 2 doesn’t really have something doing with the physics much look at superstars +according to the leaks it’s not a port but being built of from the ground up just so they don’t pay the havoc license again so it’s a remake

I'm so glad I'm not alone in saying that Unleashed and Generations were peaked. I still have NO HOPE for this remaster. Why? Because we have mods. A PORT of this game would be better.
According to the leaks, the remaster is being handled in house by Sonic Team and it's running on Hedgehog Engine 2 so we're probably getting something close to Forces and Frontiers visuals
if that's the case then my only concern is that the colors might look a little washed out, as much as I love Frontiers some of the visuals look a little dull
Honestly, I don’t even want a remaster of this game. Just a port to modern platforms would suffice for me because of how bad these remakes have been.
A remaster is the only thing they can do. They can't port the game cuz of the engine being really hard to work with
If you have Xbox just put your disc in.

The automation started in Generations. Speed boosters in classic stages.
