A psychiatrist evaluation note (patient case no. 4)
I evaluated Arjun and diagnosed him with a psychotic episode. However, I am uncertain about the cause of the episode. There is no history of mental illness in his family, and he has never had a psychotic episode before. He is a school student and he is doing well in his studies. He is not taking any medications and he does not use drugs or alcohol.
The only thing that I can think of that might have triggered the episode is the painting. The painting is a portrait of a woman who is staring directly at the viewer. She has a very intense expression, and I can see how someone might find her gaze to be unsettling. However, I am not sure if the painting was actually the cause of the episode.
