    Took me 6 months to report this --> On the bottom if you use an Allen key, you can remove the hot shoe, and it'll be a 1/4 inch underneath; this means you don't need to buy a 1/4 inch adapter with it, it's right inside of it. Blew my mind. By doing this, this is easily the smollest shotgun mic mount, even smaller than with the hotshoe.

    Thanks for sharing this option. I love how it is much smaller than the old one. Will find way to get it soon.

      It really is a great compact option and is easier to pack than a lot of other dual lyre style shock mount!

    I use Hollyland 3.5mm TRS Male to USB Type C DSP Headphone Jack Audio Adapter Cable with my small mic of sennheiser M200 in Osmo Action 3 I plan to buy the new version soon.

    It looks like the SmallRig Cold Shoe Shock Mount might replace the std Rode VideoMic GO II shock mount too. The only reason I bump the mic is because it is so enlarged by that red rubbery shock mount. And it will lower the mic closer toward my mouth per our comments in your last video. 😁 I can't guess whether the SmallRig might block some of the ports on the Rode mic, however. Thanks for showing how it works with the M3. Well, I used your link, it will be here tomorrow, and I'll find out.

    just picked this up using your link so thanks! sad to report, though, that having the Miktrack mounted with smallrig on top of my canon RP with 16mm 2.8, the vibrations of the lens focusing do transfer to the audio, rendering this shockmoutn unsuseable for me...still nifty to have as it's great for other applications

    Thank you for presentation. I also have this mic and have not used it as much as I would because of the mount. Very annoying. I will certainly look into your suggestion. Thank you.

      Thanks for your comment! I was in the same boat and once I started using this shock mount, I reached for my M3 way more! I was honestly surprised how much it improved the overall usability!

      @@WayneRECs How did you find using the micro sd card? I haven't tried it yet. On an off topic, what do you think if you've given it any thought of the RODE WIRELESS PRO? I'd be interested to hear your views on it.

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  Год назад +1

      @@enriquemartin8655 With my M3, I record everything internally to the micro SD card and have had no issues. (Same goes for my F2 & F3). But I also never remove the cards and instead but the devices into their corresponding mode to drag and drop files directly to my PC.
      With regards to the Wireless PRO, while I don't have one, it seems like the ultimate prosumer wireless set made by a reputable company who pioneered this whole segment. While I love the RODE products I do have, I think it can be tough on consumers when they have to buy into a whole ecosystem to get the most out of the products they've purchased. An example of this is when the Wireless GO II was first released with on board recording to the transmitters, you needed to use RODE's proprietary software to pull the wave files off them. Props to RODE for since updating the firmware to allow the transmitters to be recognized as USB storage devices, but I'm not a fan overall of these closed ecosystems.
      I think some of this is out of necessity (like the RCP II only being able to accept RODE USB mics). But with the Wireless PRO, I think they might be too complicated for the everyday creator and that the current landscape of camera centric YT channels who are reviewing and recommending them are potentially putting out a lot of misinformation and/or don't have a comprehensive understanding of the technology to accurately break it down into digestible content for those looking to buy a set but rely on said videos for research. Basically what I'm saying is that the Wireless PROs look great, will set the bar for all other systems that come out after from other companies and to watch audio centric content like Curtis Judd's if you want an accurate understanding of the systems capabilities.

      @@WayneRECs Thanks for getting back to me, and for your well thought out opinion. To be honest, I bought the device but returned it because my CYBERLINK POWER DIRECTOR software could not deal with the 32 bit files. Thank you once again for taking the time, and for your input. I have subscribed and will be following you closely. Thank you.

    Thanks, just ordered one. It looks like it would work for suspending the mic underneath something too - but no tripod thread??

    Did they ever fix the RF interference issues with this mic??? I think it would be great (except for the lack of timecode). Otherwise... I guess I could boom my cheapo Takstar shotgun mic in to a Deity PR-2 recorder (will the "plain" 3.5mm jack of the Takstar mic stay connected to the threaded input of the Deity PR-2???)

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  5 месяцев назад +1

      Since receiving my replacement M3, I haven't experienced any rf issues. With regards to the PR-2, I think non treaded trs cables should work fine. Aside from TC, the big difference would be the M3 can record 32-bit float stereo, while I believe the PR-2 can only record 32-bit float mono or 24-bit stereo.

    What hard case do you suggest for this microphone?

  • @blagoipetrov
    @blagoipetrov 2 месяца назад +2

    if the microphone is stationary, there is no problem, but if I move with it, noises such as knocks can be heard... very unpleasant...

    I bought the M3 after seeing your videos on it! So thank you. Question though - can you really not download the audio through the usb-c? Is the only to remove the micro SD card? My old Zoom H1N from 10 years ago allowed you to connect directly, so I'm shocked that isn't a feature...

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  Год назад +2

      Thanks for your question! You can definitely transfer files directly from the M3 via USB. You first have to put the M3 in USB transfer mode by powering off the unit, then holding the Stereo button while pressing the Power button. You'll know it's in USB mode when the led is amber (as opposed to green when it's normally powered on). Hope this helps!

      Keep an eye out on the Zoom website for any sales that might pop up between now and December. I've seen some good deals on new Zoom F3 units so there could be a chance you can find an M3 at a lower price.

      May I ask one question. I understand that ZOOM M3 can be connected to an Android phone via USB-C. When we record a video, the sound from the mic will be recorded as well, right?

    Can you rotate the mic left and right when mounted? I'd like to use it as a mount for a right angle flashlight, which would mean I'd need to rotate the clamp 90 degrees...

    • @AndyHighfieldPhotography
      @AndyHighfieldPhotography 6 месяцев назад

      No, unfortunately. Not directly. You need a rotating hot shoe, as on some of the Ulanzi ball heads.

    Anyone here reading this can sponsor me one hard drive and one Zoom M3 to help me work on my first book and also level up my RUclips video? I will craft a logo of your needs in return, I tried to seek for logo design work but can't land any, if you can help out, I will be really appreciated, please let me know if it's possible! :-)

  • @LA6NPA

    Yeah. That's not a shock mount and does nothing a shock mount does. That's just a fancy microphone holder.

    • @AndyHighfieldPhotography
      @AndyHighfieldPhotography 6 месяцев назад +2

      It is a real shock mount. It has flexible silicon rubber supports between the 'holder' section and the base. These do a good job of isolation.
