for the knot (hopefully i explain this a bit better) flatten the rectangle bit, seam facing you, flat on the right side at the top with sides together. grab the bottom left corner and twist it up to the right so the side is against the seam. flatten, pin, adjust if necesary, and sew! hope this helped :)

"Do what I do, not what I say". Explanation is lacking but overall this is the easiest tie tutorial I have found. Once you try to do what she is showing it easily comes together. For the knot you want to fold one side downwards at the midpoint and do the same to the other side. I was easily able to adapt this for you 7 year old.
Einfach die Maße etwas vergrößern und mit Papier ausprobieren. Wenn alles passt einfach mit Stoff die Maße übernehmen. Die Video Maße ergeben ca 12-23 inches
