I’m been very lucky, I’ve never been sexually abused. But I was punched in the face by a male teacher (in a state high school) when I was probably c15, for intervening in his attack on another child, I had the courage to report it, and after a meeting with the deputy head, he told me that the teacher in question ‘had some problems’ so that was the end of it! Ironically, I went on to play rugby, and was punched many times, but I’d learnt that being punched by an adult was irrelevant, ie only physical, not emotional. For note, I’ve never hit a child, especially my 3 boys. I’m not underestimating the effects, just saying, because of my personality, I was lucky, maybe my autism has helped. But I wish all those abusers were punished.

About the Youth Activity Centers. I agree. Over here in the USA, our right wingers are also busy dismantling the library system. At first, they already succeeded in cutting funding drastically. I think they are going for the model of each district funding libraries as they do schools --according to tax brackets. So you can see what that will look like. The richer districts will have better facilities and the poorer ones will have worse. And they will say it's just capitalism. All their goals are to reward rich people and punish you if you are poor. And they're already set with abortions. Their rich constituents can go have one overseas or out of state because they can afford them. IT's sickening. DO NOT allow that to happen there.
James - you are one of the few humans I believe, correction, I know I can rely on for logic, honesty, empathy and humour! This show was excellent - from the delicate but necessary discussion around abuse to your continued work to highlight the plight of the innocent people being murdered in Gaza and closing with a very humorous Mystery Hour. Thank you! Tom
There's a beauty in this conversation, as James hears hurting people, reminds them that they are not to blame and the calls end with a lightness that wasn't there before: some might say the work of a minister.
@@fredarcher7264 Not at all. In fact, I'd like it to be James' voice on the tannoy notifying us when it's the end of the world. Emily Maitlis would also be sufficiently soothing. ;)

@chelvisvids4424 Or it might be more likely because O'Brien hasn't even mentioned Starmer who stated he 'respected' Justin Welbys decision to resign? Maybe it's because on a piece just the other day O'Brien himself said he felt conflicted over Welby as he had 'met him once and he was nice.' Maybe it's because O'Brien claims to have been witness to similar abuse when he was a child within the Catholic Church, but when it comes to his Liberal, left wing chums he seems oddly reserved? He had a lot to say about (former) Prince Andrew, and rightly so. But nothing about Starmers reaction, which considering the title of this video is strange at best. He hasn't really gone in on Welby either just because they had a 'nice' meeting once. O'Brien and indeed his followers are a strange old bunch who seem to pick and and choose which paedophiles to condemn and then who gets a pass. Again, strange, especially considering his previous claims about being around child abuse. Very strange.
These victims who are coming forward are brave and it takes courage.
How awful to not be protected by family when you speak out. I give all my sympathy to anyone who experienced this.
Please stop smiling, James. That's horrifying.

Adults who are deliberately kept silent? Some adults are equally culpable, some adults turn a blind eye when abuse goes on .
Yeah man. Just look at Justin Biebers parents. They handed him over to Diddy for fame and fortune...

Enablers are culpable. Abuse victims really struggle with that, especially when it's the other parent.

This is a great point. People have a very mistaken view still of how most abuse occurs.
