    I just bought this exact same mower from Costco today and so far I love it. What’s interesting is mine only came with a battery charger that works with one battery at a time, not two at the same time. I think I’m really gonna enjoy this mower. Thanks for the video.

      I’m just learning this now from a few of the comments. I bought from Greenworks directly and got 25% off for a St Patrick’s deal… priced ended up $30 higher than what Costco deal is now but Costco has doubled the battery life warranty from 4 to 8 years. The double charger is definitely a plus however. The good news is the mower will run with only one battery installed. I pulled one the other day while my daughter was mowing and put it on the charger and she kept going.

    I have been a long time Greenworks customer that has owned many of there 80 volt tools now since 2018 and for the last 2-3 years, I owned the older 21 inch lawnmower with only one battery slot. I asked customer service over email at Greenworks last month in October about replacing the rubber flap on the bottom (which this mower also has) and they couldn't directly replace that flap part, so they decided to send me through a free warrenty replacement a whole new mower (this mower actually) with a new battery at 5.0 ah power (and charger, I have way too many chargers now). This mower was quite an upgrade over my older 21 inch model, with the ability to use 2 batteries now and the long handles on it is way sturdier compared to the older mower we had (the handles here seem like they are aluminum, the older one I believe were steel handles). This also doesn't bog down as much compared to the older 21 inch mower as well as this one seems to be a more sturdier/better power handling with thicker grass. The 2 batteries makes a huge difference as I don't need to go inside to get another battery! Also the turbo button was something I did not have either on the older model, but this drained the batteries more quickly so this might be something I might avoid using a lot.
    Just back in October to prepare for the Winter Season up in Wisconsin where I live, I ordered from the Greenworks website there 2 Stage Snowblower for the first time and it was quite a circus in shipping getting it to me. Long story short, it got lost in shipping briefly but was found quickly (its a freight shipment). Got it here and was quite the challenge disassembling the packaging. This snowblower came with 2 5.0 ah batteries but the snowblower can take up to 3 batteries, so i was glad to get the lawnmower replacement last month with the new 5.0 ah battery on that one, so I have three of those now for snowblowing. But had a happy ending with getting it all together and can't wait to try it out. Also bought the single stage 22 inch snowblower as well.

      Thanks for sharing your experience! I’m a big fan. I now have about 7 tools and have no complaints about any of them. Also have the 22” snow blower and mine works well so far. I just love the simplicity of dropping in a battery and knowing that it’s gonna work. Too many years of fighting with 2 stroke gas engines that I didn’t maintain properly. Lol

    I just bought an EGO string trimmer (56V) for use at our cabin. I used it for the first time yesterday, and was thoroughly impressed. The main reason I decided to get it was I was tired of struggling to start our gas trimmers when I have limited time to take care of things on our weekend visits. It had plenty of power, and lasted as long as I'd like to be holding onto it. An added benefit is an auto-loading line system -- only tried it once, but it worked perfectly. Time will tell how reliable it is, but so far so good!

    • @HardyBrothersOutdoors
      @HardyBrothersOutdoors  2 года назад +1

      That’s a great use case for electric. I still have all gas at the cabin but have been running 18V trimmer and blower here at home for years because the yard is small. They’ve worked but the batteries barely lasted long enough so I decided why not. I also went all electric on my tools last year and bought a bunch of Dewalt tools and have been equally happy. Mower stuff I thought would make my daughters life easier in her mowing venture this summer. We shall see.

    Hey, Josh, thanks for a great video. Mine arrived today and I already set it up and batteries are charged. My lawn kid will come tomorrow for the last time, except when I'm out of town. I do have a question about the batteries. I bought mine at Costco and the online info on Costco's site does say it comes with two batteries, but it does not say only one of the batteries is lithium. Are both your batteries lithium? If not, how well does the non-lithium battery perform? I ask in case I want to purchase another lithium battery.
    As a side note, at about 5;25 into your video when you kick it into turbo mode I see it also speeds you up pretty fast. I've never before seen anyone mow so quickly!
    🤣

    • @HardyBrothersOutdoors
      @HardyBrothersOutdoors  Год назад

      Hello and thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! It is likely that both batteries are lithium, possibly just different print on the battery case. I've not seen any non-lithium batteries with any of the 7 Greenworks tools that I have. Now the big switch that Costco did this year was instead of two 4ah batteries its one 2ah and one 4ah... no clue why they did that. That drops the runtime from ~90 minutes to ~60 minutes. My advice would be that if you like the way the mower performs and are "bought into" electric is to pick up another tool or two with a battery. I have about 6 batteries and I can easily swap between and always have one charging. Here is another review, from my reviews channel, that I did after a few months on what I like and don't like... I will be doing another soon based on a years worth of use - ruclips.net/video/nCJWSealZ1s/видео.html - Yes, turbo surely speeds things up... lol I planted some trees the other day in turbo and only wished I could move that fast all the time... :-) See RUclips Short here:

      if my google search was correct, this was the model offered by Costco? One of my main gripes with Greenworks is the various model and lack of transparency with comparisons... But if that is in fact the model you are inquiring about... Compared to the model I bought direct from Greenworks - the Costco model offers an additional uplift blade, the batteries are shorter and thus lighter weight, and it did not have a dual battery charger but one rapid charger. I now possess two of these mowers, one is the Costco version and i cannot tell the difference between the two mowers... Costco usually also offers a better warranty. Hope that helps!

    I bought mine this past week and I think my self-propel is acting funny. From 0% to 95% on the "speed adjustment" the mower hardly moves but when I increase it to 96%, then the mower shoots forward really fast. Almost no ability to fine tune the self propel speed. Is yours like this too?

    • @HardyBrothersOutdoors
      @HardyBrothersOutdoors  2 года назад +1

      Mine has more adjustability range I feel. What has been weird for me is the 1-1.5 second delay for take off and let off. Like I’d you want to turn around the back wheels are locked for a second or so after letting off the self propel. It’s gonna take some time getting use to it. You may want to check with them to see if there is an adjustment.

    What is your opinion on the weight of the mower? With the batteries in the machine is it really that much lighter than a gas mower? I almost bought one recently but concerned one 4ah battery wouldn’t be enough. Typically how much runtime do you get with the self propelled?

    • @HardyBrothersOutdoors
      @HardyBrothersOutdoors  Год назад

      So this mower has two batteries. The one I got has two 4ah batteries and runtime is 90 minutes. I cut two suburban lawns with deep grass, running the turbo, and ran self propel about 50-60% of the time. I noticed for some reason the new Costco version has a 4 and a 2ah battery. No idea why they did that. Frankly I think Greenworks is a mess when it comes to the versioning and packaging of their products. Nothing seems to make sense why they do stuff. That said I’m happy with the mower, the weight is lighter than my Toro personal pace that I replaced but not so light that it negatively impacts cut quality. Being that it’s self propelled the weight is somewhat irrelevant to me. Hope that helps. If you have more questions fire away and I’ll do my best to answer.

      Not sure on the wheels... There is a 5.0ah battery and I think Greenworks.com has a model that uses it. Best bet is finding a bundle deal vs buying the batteries separately... The one I have has two 4ah and a runtime of 90 minutes... not sure how much you get with the 5ah. I believe the chargers are all interchangeable within the same voltage class. The self propel has a pretty good speed on it, top end is almost too much but i'm using it on the backyard hill and have to throttle down otherwise its a brisk walk... haha. Pricing and model years are hard to compare across the various retailers... Costco, Lowes, TSC, and Amazon all carry products in addition to the Greenworks.com site. Greenworks will give 10% for signing up for their email but I am not sure about military discount. It's really difficult to compare across the various offers. When i turned it up to the Turbo setting it hit 83.7db... Here is what I found about suggested ear plugs - Long and or repeated exposure to sounds above 85 decibels can cause hearing loss. The higher the decibel level, the shorter the time it takes for hearing loss to occur. It is recommended that for those sounds above 85 decibels, ear plugs should be worn.
      So based on this, at normal operation you should be good to go w/out hearing protection.

They sent me a 2nd one which is the Costco version (Last years model with the dual 4AH batteries and lift blade) so now we have 2 mowers and 4 batteries... I have added the blower, string trimmer, hedge trimmer, edger, chainsaw, and snowblower... Just used the chainsaw yesterday... Great grab and go saw for our country weekend property

    Do you have a link to this exact mower that you can share?

      Hi Andrew, sorry for the delayed reply... I bought on Greeworkstools.com and I don't see the exact configuration that I bought... Which is one of my big complaints about Greenworks is how hard they make it to compare and order their products. I have the dual battery charger with two 4 amph batteries and I do not see that option... the only dual charger option for the 80v mower is the push mower vs. the self propelled... Here is the exact mower but you will have to determine if you are good with the batteries... This is the tool only version - www.greenworkstools.com/pro-80v-21-inch-cordless-lawn-mower-tool-only-2533602

      I called them out in this second video that I did as it is ridiculous. The model at Costco has the 2 4ah batteries but single charger. Review:

    The day will come when gas is too expensive or unavailable so better switch quick.

      It very may... not sure I'd say the switch is a savings at this time but I do really like the mower and am finding myself annoyed with the neighbors noisy gas powered equipment... hahaha... I've become "that guy" :-)

      @@HardyBrothersOutdoors I'm thinking it will be a government forced necessity in the next 10 years or less. Gas will be for commercial accounts or legit lawn care companies with commercial accounts only.

      @@airinbone That will be a major shift if it happens. I'm thinking there is going to need to be some sort of standardization on the Lithium batteries... I'm noticing that I have them everywhere now and they are only for the particular tool purchased. Good that Greenworks and many other brands have platforms that support numerous tools on a single battery design but I'm getting all sorts of sample products from the Chinese and each and every one has a different battery... will certainly be interesting. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      @@airinbone looked at these all weekend and I like this one.... but for anyone concerned about gas and the environment can you just imagine all those batteries piling up in our city dumps and acid going into our water supply.

    Don’t buy it, I bought one and full charge kept dying after 17 mins then of course it wouldn’t let me charge the battery for over a hour because the battery was to hot so it took 3 days to cut just my back yard which isn’t even that big

      lol sorry to hear that. I hope you took it back. I’ve not had any issues after 2 years.
