- The Italian city of Perugia has found an ingenious solution to the traffic problems: From the stadium car park - which would be empty for most of the week - the Minimetro will take you directly to the center of the historic old town. Durig daytime it is forbidden to go there by car. The line of Minimetrò has a total length of 4 km and was inaugurated on the 29th of January 2008, the day of Saint Costanzo of Perugia, one of the three patron saints of Perugia. The Minimetro, built by Leitner AG, is a "people mover" costing just under 100 million Euros. On the open track, the vehicles are pulled through an endlessly circulating steel cable. In the stops, the gondolas are released from the rope operation and are slowed down or accelerated by rubber wheels mounted on the side of the road.

It is an obligatory choice for Italian cities, such as Perugia. Because when you dig tunnels, you often encounter Roman archaeological remains that could stop the works. Otherwise it is not the best choice to make such an expensive train go outside

"Center of the historic old town?" Really?! Except for, literally, 1/10 of a second at around 11 minutes, where you can catch a glimpse of Perugia on a distant hilltop, this could be any town anywhere. No narration, no indication of which part of the city, just endless repeat shots of a cute mini-trolly going somewhere. Curious why the thing has to turn around on a turntable when it just shuttles back and forth. Funiculi' funicula'! LOL.

Würden die Bau- und laufenden Kosten auf den Fahrpreis umgelegt, dürfte ein Ticket vermutlich etwa 5000 Euronen kosten für die 4 Kilometer Fahrstrecke.
Laut Wikipedia sind es 10.000 Menschen täglich. Also ca. 5,5 Millionen Umsatz im Jahr, wenn alle Einzeltickets kaufen. Bei Tagestickets zu 5,40 entsprechend mehr.

Inländer sind da, glaub ich, eine fast vernachlässigbare Größe. die Touristen machen den Umsatz.

Ok, warum sollten 10.000 Touristen täglich das Kaff besuchen, das auf der Landkarte allenfalls als Fliegenschiss erkenntlich ist und dessen "Altstadt" aus einer 300 Meter langen Reihe mittelalterlicher Lehmhütten besteht?
Ps.: Fahr mal nach Italien - du glaubst dich auf der Latrine des Basars von Timbuktu wiederzufinden (Stichwort: "Facharbeiter" bzw. "Goldstücke").

Aber was hat das Problem mit den Dahergelaufenen jetzt mit einer Stadtmetro zu tun, die gebaut wurde um den Autoverkehr aus der Altstadt herauszuhalten?
Die Idee ist grundsätzlich schon gut umgesetzt, finde ich. Wenn ich dem Video richtig entnommen habe, ist der Parkplatz gratis und die Bahn kostet Fahrgeld. Andersrum wäre es logischer, denke ich mal. Parkplatzbenutzung gebührenpflichtig und dieses Ticket gilt dann auch auf der Bahn.
Very confusing video - extremely poor editing job. It seems that random sections are spliced together out of any logical sequence and with no concept whatsoever. The video keeps jumping back and forth between various sections of the line and never gives a clear impression of where you are or what a journey looks like.
