- Hi Everyone! Today I am unboxing a vintage Kyosho Salute! This is Kit# 3034, it was released back in 1986 and is similar to the Turbo Optima. Edit: I say the Salute came out in 96 instead of saying 86 in the video...oops!

A trip down memory lane for me, I had this Kyosho Salute kit back in 1986 and used to race it indoors at me local track, my first Kyosho and just a brilliant kit 😊
You are a lucky man my friend...not many of us had kits like this when I was younger. Great memories though, I love seeing old kits and remembering what it was like opening them up for the first time. Thanks for watching!

You can change the timing on that motor. They should bring back those brushed motors they used to make they're very pretty.
KYOSHO really needs to re release the SALUTE, this would sell out like the JAVELIN did. Thanks for sharing.
@@johnband5588 Absolutely! And it would be decals, not this hard paint job. It would be very easy to come out with Salute, they have already released a new batch of Javelin and Optimas. By the way, the new Legendary Optima Pro is out! I'll be making videos on it soon I hope. Thanks for watching!
@@eekrc took myself nearly 4 years to get the KYOSHO JAVELIN at manufacturers price and not some ones rent payment, thanks again for sharing

@@johnband5588 I get it, I converted my Optima to a Javelin because they sold out and didn't make anymore.Now of course you can buy them again.
I want to see it built and run.

It is a cool kit isn't it? I don't remember it back then, I guess my local hobby shop never got them, or I was too busy with my Tamiya RCs.

I was fully prepared to unbox all the parts and metal bits. But those boxes were never opened. I'll let Keith open them. It is an interesting one from Kyosho, I'm thinking they wanted to offer a cheaper version of the Turbo Optima back then, so they eliminated the LeMans motor and used a different body. It was probably only like $20 cheaper back then.
I still have my Salute from 1986 and the driver figure is indeed, smoke tented.
Yes! Thank you for telling me! I thought it was strange...feels like a different material too. Do you run it? I've never seen one before finding the NIB one. Definitely a rare one even though it's basically a Turbo Optima.
Really cool buggy, i almost bought one as a kid but ended up with the Aero Streak instead.
I had to look that one up! I didn't know about the Aero Streak! Do you still have it? The 80s were a fun time for RCs, so many different models were released in a short period of time 😊
Yes I still have it with the box and everything, it need some new grease and a light over look but everything works and runs, decals are peeling soo should probably order a set from mci.
Are you going to get the laser dirt cross in the fast attack vehicle in August?
Hey Brad, I'm not sure about the Laser, it does look cool...love the wheels on it too. I probably will not get the FAV.

That would be awesome! I'm waiting for the Turbo Optima Mid Special...I have the Optima Pro on pre-order too, that is one of my favorites.

Omg! I didn't catch that I said 96! Well, hopefully everyone knows I meant 86 lol. I'm not going to fix it. Just like most Tamiya RCs, I'm not perfect 😂
