If you like this style, you should try one of Makoto Shinkai's other movies. Maybe some of them are available on a streaming platform you're subscribed to. They all look like this and have fantastic stories! You might have heard about "Your Name" or "Weathering with you", which are probably his most famous works to date.
Just watched the movie with my friend. I cried a lot. Just knowing that it's director was involved in your name and Weathering away with you made me know i was going to cry no matter what. I quite literally bawled my eyes out because of a little yellow chair with a missing leg. Honestly the part with the mother made me cry even more. My mom left me to go to Mexico once to visit her father who was dying of cancer. I was little back then and didn't know why she left nor did i understand. Every day i woke up looking for her and crying when i couldn't find her. And oh man did this movie make me remember those times. Except in my case, she did come back. And i bawled my eyes out even more watching this movie when I remembered that one day she will never come back. When i got back in my mom's car and dropped off my friend, I told her why i cried so much to the point of my eyes hurting. I told her that for some reason it reminded me of when she left when I was little, and then i started crying again in the car while she laughed saying it was in the past and how back then i couldn't understand why she left but now I do. Honestly the movie helped me appreciate the time with my my mom more than i ever have before. The cat also made me cry a lot 🥲 10/10 must watch, it was funny, sad, but happy all in one. A rollercoaster of emotions and a music track that's so beautiful and soothing.
Just watched the movie and i learned something from it. This movie give us ideas of how ruins are not just ruins, they are the places that once we visited and the memories we will never forget. The way Mikoto Shinkai look at the ruins and he put it in the movie and it was so pleasant and satisfactory. This movie also taught us that there are peoples u help u for example that High school girl helped her and give her to stay at her home and the Lady help her to go Kobe. This movie was really amazing and the way Shinkai look at the world and it's beauty is something can't compare
It’s not just any ´ruins’ Japan has many ´ghost cities’ that people left after the economic bloom has passed, not to mention a serious issue of people leaving the country side for big cities which was also brought up in Your Name.
Suzume's mission to close these doors must be in response to the calamities and unusual phenomenon that happened in Japan like the comet that wiped out Itomori or the non-stop torrential rain that flooded most of the country. Each door does set off a calamity that would escalate if it weren't closed for good, so those doors could have been the ones responsible for setting the stories for those past events in motion. It’s the Shinkai-verse!
Unfortunately, Suzume is not related with "Shinkai-verse" as what you've thought of. Your Name was based from a fictional Comet that struck Japan for every thousand years. Suzume however, based from an real event, which was the Tohoku Earthquake back in 2011. And no, unlike the previous movies where the characters from the two movies met because they're at the same universe, unfortunately you can't see it here with Suzume. To add, the timeline of Suzume happens in Tokyo on 2022/2023. However, Tokyo was suffering heavy rains at Weather with You, something that is quite impossible to fit in under one story universe.
@@lloydsaladaga2884 It’s merely a theory to me. Many will deny it and claim otherwise, but given the unusual phenomenon that has occurred in those last two Shinkai films. Those can’t just happen without something triggering it. The trailer merely showed what this door is capable of, but who’s to say this door caused those past events before Suzume herself stumbled upon this?

What we've seen so far from shinkai verse.. A person who is in love with her/his self A person who is in love with water A person who is in love with a chair
Guys I teared up watching this trailer and when I saw it in theaters last weekend I was sobbing, this movie really moved me so much. The true meaning behind this love story is so profound and deep. Everyone in the theaters was laughing about Sota being a chair too, it was really funny but there’s so much more to the story line than what you see in the trailer. the movie overall is absolutely amazing. The animation is just beautiful, so gorgeous and realistic, the music is super vibey, i can’t stress enough how the storyline is just incredible. I can’t wait to buy this on DVD and watch it thousands of times.
Took my mom to see this movie and while she was sceptical (since it's an anime), by the end of it even she was crying. This movie convinced my mom that anime is not just for kids(like she assumed)
i just saw it and OH MY GOD, it's literally my second most fave movie of makoto now! Like?? I know he never makes a bad film but there's something so magical and endearing with this movie that i loved every minute of it. and the chemistry??? suzume's steadfast attitude and bravery with souta's gentleness?? daijin and all the minor characters?? It's PERFECT. 😭 (and yes, you'd love souta even as a freakin' CHAIR)
This film seems to tell what Souta said that we are always side by side with death. Every time they lock a door, there will always be memories from that story and what they witnessed that today's people are in danger but they never realized it.
"Suzume thought her life couldn't get any weirder, but everything's about to change when her boyfriend (Record Scratch)...Turns into a CHAIR???" (Plays feel good music )
Just finished watching yesterday. The story, visual animations and the music are awesome. Also the voice actors so amazing 🥰 i can watch this again many times .
I saw this in theatres and nothing compares to this experience. Some of the scenes, the sounds, the visuals were crafted so beautifully. A movie made to be watched in theatres.
The visual my gooooddddd the visuals...it's just on a whole other level, the dew on the leaves, the little crack and moss on the stones, the details on the city....and the songs. Definitely gon watch this again.

I'm not an anime fan and I usually don't watch these kind of movies...I can't believe that I cried during the movie, it was mind-blowing! Thanks to my best friend for showing me this masterpiece
This is the best movie I have seen this year, loved the song , plots and direction and beautiful animation , just give it a shot u won't regret it if u like anime.
For 1. That six months of waiting for English subtitles paid off and for 2. Makoto Shinkai managed to make another film that was a masterpiece and managed to arouse several feelings in me.
I watched this last night and it was so cool. I bawled my eyes out over how in the second half she fell in love with a boy who became her little yellow chair. Also, I still question how Souta walked as a chair with three legs.
I saw it dubbed yesterday and honestly it's my new favorite movie. The visuals are stunning, the plot lines are interesting, the characters are beautiful, and everything about it impacted me on a deep level. Some parts were funny, others were sad, but all of it was memorable and heartfelt. The concepts in it are so creative and I couldn't think of something like that in a million years. I mean.. a movie where one of the main characters is a chair and him and a high schooler are traveling across Japan chasing a tiny cat to close doors so a worm doesn't escape from the afterlife? That sounds like a really weird fever dream but somehow the plot tied all those elements into a cohesive story that made sense and it was beautiful.
@@jjnb686 I agree. It should be watched in the original language in which it is made or shot to connect with it more be it anime or movie. I always watch it in the original language and avoid dubbing as it ruins it imo.
As a long time fan of Makoto Shinkai, I highly recommend checking his earlier works "The Place Promised in Our Early Days" and also "Voices of a Distant Star"
this is really reminiscent of Children who chase lost voices, a Shinkai movie I absolutely loved! There are so many similarities in this trailer alone, I didn't even know CWCLV was from Shinkai as well, but I was immediately reminded. From the cat to the portals to the theme of life and death (as it seems)... I can't wait to watch this one now, even if I'm late to the party.
I went to watch it today on the day it aired and I'm so happy that I did, I'm already feeling nostalgic and emotional that I finished it and I feel a sense of voidness🤧
I saw this trailer once 2 months ago when they first posted it and I felt chills all around my body, i was speechless because I knew this movie was gonna be the best thing I've ever seen so I'm really looking forward to it although I can't see it in a theater right now
the realization of what event this was actually about hit me like a fully loaded cargo train. i've seen some of those areas firsthand... some of it scared me to hell. Makoto Shinkai did an amazing job weaving a very personable and charismatic story around it and adding fantastical elements.
I absolutely loved this. Really worth watching. Fantastic and fun adventure. The only thing I didn’t like was the little time paradox thing that happened at the end, where she met her younger self on the other side of the door. I flashback and coming to terms with her mother’s death wouldn’t been better than throwing in some kind of time-loop.
I just finished watching this film. The animation is really cool and beautiful!! Oh and I just realized when Daijin is smiling on 1:11 it's because he/she can meet Sadaijin. Everyone must be fooled and think Daijin is evil, like me right? T-T
I just watched Suzume in the cinema today, and loved it! such a beautiful film, from animation to characters, soundtrack and story. Of course, i cried too 😅. I knew there was something about some chair, but yeah, did not expect how it would be involved and then to be both smiling and crying about it! Was a little confused over one or two things, but overall it is a wonderful film. Suzume, souta, and all the characters are endearing. This was my first Shinkai film and it certainly did not disappoint!
It's still hard to believe that I can watch anime movies in Romania. And in 4Dx too, not just some obscure cinema. I think if Your Name and the Demon Slayer movie weren't as big, I would still just sit here and envy those who can watch this in a theater. I absolutely loved this movie, and I love that I could watch this as a reunion with my high school friends, whom I haven't seen in a year. I had such a great day today.
Im not a huge anime fan aside from Gundam but this was hands down the best movie I have seen in years. Not the best anime movie, the BEST MOVIE. It was fun, had some action, and it damn well made me cry. Currently trying to convince people to go see it with me before I go solo again.
I was thinking that this hack was gonna make the same movie 3 times in a row, but if this is really a love story between a girl and a chair it's gonna be the best movie ever
Unexpectedly, I found myself laughing to the point of tearing up. It's like the movie got my kind of humor. It was really well made. And the I found myself overwhelmed with emotions and teared up in a completely different way. All in all this movie is superb and I'm glad noone advised me to watch this because then I will have expectations and judge it as I watch. I literally have no idea what it's all about and I'm glad I gave it a try. 👏👏👏
Watched it yesterday in the cinema...and damn it was a experience!! I love this movie....the vibes..the feelings...its been a long time since i felt so good after a movie❤️🥺
Man... This movie was really good, literally a letter to japan, it's concerns, past and future.. literally my first movie of this kind, I'll watch the others when I've got time
Yet another masterpiece by Makoto Shinkai. Truly a masterpiece, he truly is a great director. First Your Name then Weathering with now Suzume no tojimari are the example of perfection. Great story with fabulous animation and music.
I feel like I’m supposed to be emotionally invested in the last third of the trailer, but when it showed the chair at the top of the mountain, I laughed 😂
Hara did a good job in imitating Hayamin(sorry if it hurts). Matsumura also excelled imitating Akira(sorry if it hurts as well). Fun Fact: Hayamin and Akira played Ayaka and Ayato in Genshin Impact. I just watched in cinema yesterday and I can say that it was a beauty of a movie, Makoto Shinkai never dissapoints.
I went to watch it today on the day it aired and I'm so happy that I did, I'm already feeling nostalgic and emotional that I finished it and I feel a sense of voidness🤧
Is it suitable for small children. It says pg so not sure
I saw this trailer once 2 months ago when they first posted it and I felt chills all around my body, i was speechless because I knew this movie was gonna be the best thing I've ever seen so I'm really looking forward to it although I can't see it in a theater right now
*JUST WATCHED TODAY REALLY WHAT A MASTERPIECE!!!! I COULDN'T HOLD BACK MY TEARS.PROUD TO BE AN ANIME FAN*
Watched today, absolutely beautiful, especially the background score is a total brilliance!
The best movie 🥺❤️🩹especially the animation 🪄
Makoto Shinkai never disappoints ✨
the realization of what event this was actually about hit me like a fully loaded cargo train. i've seen some of those areas firsthand... some of it scared me to hell. Makoto Shinkai did an amazing job weaving a very personable and charismatic story around it and adding fantastical elements.
“I'm afraid of a world without Souta” That had me sobbing already
Turns out there is an English dub as well, so I'm very happy about that. ❤
WE MAKIN IT OUT THE EVER AFTER WITH THIS ONE🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯
This movie is up there with the top tiers like silent voice and your name
I strictly watch anime with fights and stuff but for some reason, this has me VERYYYY interested.
I watched this yesterday and it did not disappoint at all. I loved it!
I just watched it yesterday and I’m super amazed and impressed! Highly recommended! Never had a dull moment from beginning ‘Til end! 11/10
What a legend main character, skipping school and leaving town to save the world.
RESPECT 🗿🔥🔥
Do anything even jump from your balcony to fly but dont miss this masterpiece
The "take care" "itterasshai" at the end hits differently...
Just finish watching it today.. Love it. I give 9/10...
This made me really happy to read 🥰
A friend of mine, recommended me this movie and I love it.
Im not a huge anime fan aside from Gundam but this was hands down the best movie I have seen in years. Not the best anime movie, the BEST MOVIE. It was fun, had some action, and it damn well made me cry. Currently trying to convince people to go see it with me before I go solo again.
Watch Wolf Children Ame and Yuki
I’m pretty sure I just read your review on Google . Haha
Cry cry and laugh
Two times in a row already 😊
Once again this Saturday ❤
So can we all agree that SUZUME needs a season 2!!!!!!
I was thinking that this hack was gonna make the same movie 3 times in a row, but if this is really a love story between a girl and a chair it's gonna be the best movie ever
I'm so glad I decided to watch this in theaters rather than waiting for it to come online. The atmosphere and sound in the theaters made it better
Let's go! Can't wait for this masterpiece
Two times in a row already 😊
Once again this Saturday ❤

Just watched this today!!!!!❤❤❤❤ loved it!!!!! Just what to expect to a makoto film!!!!🎉🎉🎉
Just watched the movie it was worth the watch 10/10
Unexpectedly, I found myself laughing to the point of tearing up. It's like the movie got my kind of humor. It was really well made.
And the I found myself overwhelmed with emotions and teared up in a completely different way.
All in all this movie is superb and I'm glad noone advised me to watch this because then I will have expectations and judge it as I watch. I literally have no idea what it's all about and I'm glad I gave it a try. 👏👏👏
I watched this today and it was AMAZING. And yes I cried...twice lol
Watched it twice back to back and oh yes, gonna watch it again on Saturday 😊
It's Shinkai. Of course it's a banger of visual emotions...
This is going to be awesome ❤
Never watch a trailer before a movie. Always go in blind, and be blown away.
Watched it yesterday in the cinema...and damn it was a experience!! I love this movie....the vibes..the feelings...its been a long time since i felt so good after a movie❤️🥺
Is this a happy ending ? I wanna go but I’m too scared it will make me cry haha
@@bellazakarian3886 i mean i dont want to spoil you:D the ending is not sad but nevertheless it could be you woll droo some tears:)🔥

@@jjnb686 because every human is different and dont feels the same?:D i dont know for me it was the strong ghibli vibe which i love:D🔥
Man... This movie was really good, literally a letter to japan, it's concerns, past and future.. literally my first movie of this kind, I'll watch the others when I've got time
You know the movie was good when you come back to watch the trailer again
✊🏻
Suzume no tojimari is my first imax movie, it's soo beautiful movie, this movie has a special place in my heart ❤️
Yet another masterpiece by Makoto Shinkai. Truly a masterpiece, he truly is a great director. First Your Name then Weathering with now Suzume no tojimari are the example of perfection. Great story with fabulous animation and music.
I would argue 5cms per second is his best work.
Watched it
Certified Banger
I feel like I’m supposed to be emotionally invested in the last third of the trailer, but when it showed the chair at the top of the mountain, I laughed 😂
Tbh that cat is so cute🥹🫶🏻
Saw this last year and it's absolutely lovely.
This is the best movie I have ever seen❤
Hara did a good job in imitating Hayamin(sorry if it hurts). Matsumura also excelled imitating Akira(sorry if it hurts as well). Fun Fact: Hayamin and Akira played Ayaka and Ayato in Genshin Impact. I really loved these castings, gives a new opportunity for new voice actors/actresses to start their career.
i’ve already seen it but i’m going back to the cinemas tmr so i can watch it again . taking my mum too , i want her to watch it
Two times in a row already alone 😊
Once again this Saturday with fam❤
MASTERPIECE
I JUST WATCHED IT TODAY AND IT IS A DAMN MASTERPIECE
GO WATCH IT IMMEDIATELY
Agreed
@@taeyangpark1524 it's on theaters in Indonesia but wait for when it comes to your country
@@taeyangpark1524 no not yet. They haven't set a date for their digital release but you can try checking if Suzume is screening in your country's cinemas
what genre is this? romance?
@@aizensousuke6161 More of a road trip fantasy adventure.
The romance is there, but way lighter than his previous films.
It was so good😭
