Whatever happens after Epic, I just hope for two things 1. You do everything you want on your own timeframe and don't end up burning yourself out. We thank you for all the hard work you put into this project. And we stand by you Captain. 2. We finally get to see Hades and use that gorgeous theme he has
Not that Jorge couldn't find a way, but Hades (the god) is never mentioned in the Iliad (iirc) and Hades (the place) is mentioned only once, right at the beginning of Book I. 😬
Ikr! Thats one of the things that really makes me love epic more is Jay’s passion in what he does it really shows in his work and it makes it a million times better!! ❤
-Man of the house comeback -A song about Telemachus' birth -A song about him faking insanity being the silliest somg ever and then ending in the most tragic way since he gets caught
Now it can be part of the Iliad, maybe the first saga could be about all the kings fighting for Helen’s hand and one song could be about ody seeing Penelope for the first time and coming up with a plan alongside Athena of how to win her over
We need a Hermes saga. Just imagine 5 songs: - Zeus telling Hermes to help Ody right after God Games while he takes care of Athena - Hermes finding out about Posaidons storm - Aeolus and Hermes being buddies(but she doesn't know where the bag is) - Hermes and the Winions looking for the bag in the land of the Gigants, maybe Laestrygonian cameo - Hermes talking to Calypso about letting Ody go
pretty sure there's no wind left in the wind bag after Ruthlessness, Hermes probably just went to Aeolus's isle and got her to restore the bag to trap Poseidon's storm again (as well as the winions)
I will admit that one thing I think would be super cool with an Iliad musical would be just as the final scene closes, we just faintly hear the first notes of the first song of Epic. And I don't know if it would already be included (I've never read the Iliad so don't know what it covers) but just getting to see more of Odysseus and Penelope being a lovesick, adorable couple would be so cute.
Odysseus and Penelope are not really included in the Iliad, and the Iliad doesn't have the Trojan Horse in it (I know it's a bummer and I was confused at first too), but I would personally love not just to see Achilles and Odysseus and Menelaus and etc. but I want to see HECTOR w/ Andromache (his wife). I've been turning this over in my head, but I love this: "What do you wish for? What do you fight for?" "Andromache...Andromache...And Astyanax! Know I'll be back! Oh I'll be baaaack!" I know it kind of sucks but I would really love to see who Jay would cast for Hector (it has to be someone with a huge range of styles), because Hector is really diverse throughout the story: we see him as a leader/future king, a father, a husband, and a complete battle powerhouse. Jay, if you ever go into this, PLEASE don't forget to make Hector a really big deal. And I mean a REALLY big deal.
I really love the idea for a shorter musical on Circe’s backstory. She has a really interesting backstory in Greek mythology and there are a lot of modern day books about her too. It would be really cool to know more about Circe and why she did what she did and how she got there. I really like this idea but do whatever calls to you!
Jorge, I’m just genuinely curious I know you get a bunch of comments, but would you ever audition through TikTok again if you did do the smaller projects?
For an Iliad musical I've always thought the scene of Athena, Aphrodite and Hera trying to get Paris to judge who's most beautiful would make for an awesome EPIC style song
I might actually cry if we get an Iliad musical! That would be fantastic!! I also hope we can get a cut song version of Epic once everything has been released.
I think a musical based on the Iliad with the theme of Heroism would be super cool! It really highlights how the line between being a hero and a villain can be pretty blurry. Like, Achilles is seen as a hero for the Greeks, but his rage and how he drags Hector's body around is pretty brutal. On the flip side, Hector is the Trojans' hero, and he’s all about family and loyalty, even though he’s technically on the opposing side. So, neither of them is completely bad or good, you know? I’ve got tons of examples for this theme! Honestly, just dive into it with passion and focus on what makes you happy, Captain. The fandom will totally appreciate whatever you come up with! 🤗
For the Iliad the theme would obviously be regret considering how when Ody finds Achilles in the underworld in the original odyssey, Achilles tells ody that if he were given the chance to give up all the glory, all the fame, and all the things he were remembered for just to walk the ground under the sun one more time, he would. This is because Achilles was given the option between living a long life with a big family but not being remembered after his death, or living a short life but being remembered for eternity afterwards, and as you all know he chose the 2nd option.
Love this take but adding to it: have that tempered with a rage anthem that slowly turns to regrets: similar in a way to *Spoilers* Full speed ahead from the Troy saga then in the vengeance saga.
if ruthlessness wasn’t already the theme of epic it would fit great for the iliad, what with being in a war as a soldier and such and wrath being a theme in the original iliad
Like, that already *is* one of the major themes of the Iliad. I know everyone talks about "wrath" (mēnin) and "arrogance" (húbris), but the Iliad is also about "fated doom" (áte), also known as moral suffering.
We need the "third" lost story that Homer wrote, where Odysseues's bastard son he had with Circe kills him when he's off at war, and Telemachus marries Circe or something, and then Odysseus gets revived and tells Telemachus to marry his Cousin
Is it just me or is it whenever Jay smiles or laughs it just makes me feel more happier inside? Like whenever he just explains his ideas just makes me feel like listening to just an excited child with big plans for their future, He’s just a silly little jalapeño guy
In my opinion, I always considered the Illiad as a good example of how hubris can be one's downfall. So it would be interesting to explore how each "hero's" hubris influenced them during the war and the outcome of it for each of them
If you do make an Iliad musical please please give Agamemnon the deep and nuanced character he is rather than just making him 'the villian.' He is my favourite character in the Iliad because of how complex he is; driven by a constant need for respect when Achilles is constantly insubordinate. His relationship was Menelaus is beautiful (the scene where he is like 'don't die, brother, if not for youself than for me' is so cute). So many modern adaptions present him as a pompus idiot and cruel villian, but he is really a pious man and a brilliant leader who cares about and respects the men who serve under him, and does everything he can to try and retain their respect. This is all I ask of you, Mr Jalapeno. Please!
I would love to see Agamemnon in the underworld, he's very sweet telling Odysseus that though he should be careful that his wife might plot against him after his own wife poisoned him, that Penelope is different. "Not that your wife, Odysseus, is likely to murder you, for Penelope is very wise and has an excellent nature. But be careful all the same."
like the whole beginning - Helen being pursued by suitors, Odysseus suggesting the whole oath of protecting the winners marriage so that there won't be backlash over who gets Helen - and Odysseus getting with Penelope the kidnapping of Helen, the mustering of armies, Diomedes and Odysseus being the side ship to Patrochilles - and Helen, hopefully, not being into Paris but hating that she's married to him and her wanting to go back to Menelaus
Maybe there could be like an "Origins Saga" /musical That way, Scylla and Circe and Eurylochus origins as well while still giving the opening for more ideas in mind
I WISH AND BEG FOR A PATROCHILLES MUSICAL!! While disappointing to see Epic ending, I’m so proud you were able to pull all this off! You are absolutely amazing Jorge!! ❤
The murder mystery could genuinely amazing Knowing Jorge, I could imagine having themes corresponding to each characters, and this giving foreshadowing on the culprit, ppl’s motives and intentions etc… ANYTHING JORGE DOES IS GOLD
@@YourLocalAromantic HEAR ME OUT: referencing the Poseidon scrapped verse of Luck runs out from the latest video, Eury gives an attempt at "stabbing Ody in the back" and Polities jumps in the middle, preferring to die rather than seeing his best friend be killed by his own brother in law
I think an Iliad one would be so FREAKING cool And like a song or 2 regarding the rage of Achilles would tickle my brain. Jorge thank you so much for all you do for your fandom, the year I've known about you I've fallen in love with your music and your fandom.
Okay. So. That line about Athena being a “badass in the arena”. Imagine an EPIC prequel about Athena, before she met Odysseus. Like a spin off- short musical.
What if it one of the songs was literally called The song of Achilles. What if the central theme was his grief after Patroclus dies (yes I'm going for the lovers route) and his determination to avenge him. What if I went crazy.
@@Shingekiniana What if they each had their own motiff but together they make a whole new melody and motiff by combining both of theirs. I'd go crazy with you.
@@IgnisInvicta What if Achilles' melody turns more and more sinister as he decides to kill Hector, kinda like at the end of Just a man. All while the backup chorus say "Sing, O goddess, of the rage of Achilles, son of Peleus" What if I died a little.

See this is where I do my not so subtle request for a musical about Psyche and Eros because I think it has some much potential and it’s my favorite. You could dive into mental health, love, healthy boundaries, family, etc. Anyone can take this and run with it please I would love to see it!
Jay trying to do a neutral semi professional video, but cant ignore or surpress the exciting creative feelings and has to share them 🥰 I relate to this energy so much and why I love him as a creator. Jay you are amazing!
Right?! I’m like “annnnndd now my family’s gonna have to hear me obsess about ‘AWESOME: the musical’ for a a few more months after my obsession with epic goes down”
My question exactly!! I can't really imagine it being as cool on broadway, since lots of the musical seems to rely on imagination with the fantasy elements etc. But I could be proven wrong :)
In older videos he said he talked about how he would want to adapt EPIC as either a stage show or a movie. At the time, he said he was leaning more towards an animated movie but if he were to do a stage show it wouldn’t be on Broadway and would be super high tech and stuff
@@theoutsiderjess1869 same! I just think so many different styles can work so well for EPIC. And they can make the fight and mythical scenes look so much cooler there then on stage
I think an animated movie would work best, but it could also work as a live action musical movie 😃 unfortunately yeah, even though I’d love to see it as a full on play I don’t think it would work as well with all the effects it would need
I would love it if we got to see the interactions between Hector and his wife and son! EPIC got me into reading the Iliad and I’ll read the Odyssey after that, and in the Iliad we get to see Hector’s final farewell with Astyanax, as well as how his wife pleads with him to stay but he feels obliged to fight even if it means sacrificing himself. I find this scene so touching and tragic at the same time since I know how Hector dies, his wife is taken away and the infant is thrown off a tower. If you make an Iliad adaptation with scenes like this one it would add so much more significance and tragedy to the infant’s death ❤❤❤
A cool idea for the Illiad musical if that does come out. You could do The Horse and the Infant as a finale track BUT instead of following Odysseus we follow the other fighters that he directed. We see Diomedes leading the charge on Troy. We see Menelaus opening the gates for other Greek warriors. We see Nestor finding and protecting Helen and Neo killing Hector's brothers. THAT is where the split happens. The fragmentation that splits these stories apart. Where we all know that the story continues for one Odysseus of Ithaca with the return of that motif but where we also see so many other stories come to a close. Instead of The Horse and the Infant, it's something like The Horse and the End. Like it mimics being the opening piece of Epic by being the closing action piece of this Illiad musical (of course there would be some closing action stuff like troops reuniting/mourning the fallen like Achilles and them all setting off towards home) but I think it'd be SUCH a cool way to link them. Also, I'd come up with some cool and witty name for it like you did with both the Odyssey and Iliad being epic poems, hence the title EPIC. Love your work and I'm excited to see what comes and maybe if I could one day help with it!
The main problem with this idea is that none of these things happen in the Iliad. There are two or three lost books in the epic cycle between the Iliad and the Odyssey. The death of Achilles, the fall of Troy; all we know about them is from what is mentioned in the Odyssey, some ancient guy's review of the in between books, and like one or two obscure prophecies in the Iliad. The Iliad is the story of Ilium (Troy) and of the anger of Achilles, and so it ends after the death and burial of Hector, which ends Achilles menis (divine anger). Indeed the Iliad only covers the 50 days of the war, and only four of them are spent fighting. I agree though, it would have been cool.
@@reubenproctor9344 I get that, though I raise the argument that EPIC isn't completely accurate either. Like how Odysseus DID get frisky with Calypso AND Circe during his travels. Or the floating island thing. So if we were making the Iliad as a musical, we probably could add those extra books between the Iliad and Odyssey to put more action, especially with what Jorge was describing.
@@NekoGamer0112 fair, though that might be difficult as we don't know much about what happens in them. Thematically it might also not make much sense, but it depends what theme Jorge focuses on
That's where he would just have creative freedom though. And he would still have something to lean on so he could totally do it if it fitted him and his version
It’s crazy to see how far Jorge has come. Earlier this year we were celebrating getting the ocean saga and now we have one saga left. Not to mention how fast the community is growing. It’s going to be a bittersweet moment to see the release of the final saga, but it’s going to be really cool to see where EPIC goes in the future.
I bumped into a video from 4 yrs ago of a song he wrote for a different musical called "Won't Give Up" (which was so cool and catchy btw) and it really is incredible how far he's come and that he really never gave up. Such an inspiration and I'm sure whatever small or big musical concept he comes up with next will be just as incredible
I thought about auditioning but all these amazing singers he has chose already all seem to have some sort of musical background or song published. I have a musical background but no music published or anything like that so i don't think I'd have a chance. Still be fun to audition though!!
You could do other Greek stories, like with the Golden Apple or with other gods and goddesses. We would love more stories based on Greek mythology in general, even if it isn't JUST the Odyssey. ❤❤ (Ur the reason I started writing music-)
OMG, what if we got the illiad and the whole musical was from the perspective on Achilles and Patroclus!?!?! There could be a fun theme of Achilles wanting glory without giving up his boy, while patroclus just needs Achilles and cares less about the glory. Could be a fun exploration. Or maybe a version of that is the theme is glory and Destiny, and much like how Ody kept trying to be kind. Then he kept getting dragged back to ruthlessness. Maybe Achilles keeps wanting to run away with Pat, and the gods or the circumstances keep Dragging him back to his destined path of glory!! Then the later events of the musical, maybe one of them is singing as a ghost witnessing the events still happening
Imagine a murder mystery with epic characters, and at then at the end it turns out Polites is the murderer but no one suspects him because he’s always talking about greeting the world with open arms 😊
Even if you just make a few standalone songs, I WILL LOVE THEM AND LISTEN TO THEM EVERY DAY. Also I love your music thank you for everything you’ve done for us ❤
I think if would be cool if it was a doubles tournament with gods and heroes. Each god selects a champion and that hero has to fight alongside their respective god. Odysseus and Athena versus Ares and Deimos for example.
I'm so excited, no matter what you choose to do after EPIC! All your ideas seem so cool. I love your music so incredibly much, and I can't wait to see what you do in the future!! We love and support you, Jay!! 💛
Tbh I feel like a good theme idea for the Iliad might be 'suffering' which can later on be linked with how the sirens tried luring Ody with that 'I'll take my suffering from you' line. Plus isn't that the theme most kings tried avoiding but at the same time it was inevitable? (Eg Thetis hiding away Achilles, Ody pulling out that 'I'm mad don't take me to war' stunt etc) and although a more prominent theme as whole might be 'loss' and 'pride' at the core of the Illiad, i feel like suffering will just connect the dots pretty well. Ngl if the whole take portrays Helen as a morally grey character similar to Ody, I'll actually go lay a hundred laurels of appreciation for Jorge. And omfg I genuinely want to see if we get cameos of side characters such as Ipheginia (agamemnon's daughter) along with povs from the specific chars Ody referred to in the very first song of EPIC (Diomedes, Agamemnon, Teucer, Ajax (both), Nestor etc) not to mention one of my absolute favourites scenes was the death of Ajax because it portrayed his hubris to perfection. (Morbid ik but cvdvdgdf) anyways I'll shut up now, all this is just me ranting along with specific speculations, I'm like 1112% sure that whatever Jay comes up would be leagues better than my 4am brain mush
Whatever you do we will enjoy, obess over, and dedicate the midnight hours to. Also you said "Hermit Mode" and I have this unexplainable urge to see you playing Minecraft with the Hermits.
If there was an Iliad musical I might just cry. That story is what got me into Greek mythology which led to happiness which led me to epic which made me not want to cry every night ❤
Just a reminder: epic is the second musical prohect jorge has worked on. He needs to do smaller things to 1) keep away burnout and 2) learn new and importan skills, both storytelling and musical, to be the best songwriter he can. He is just a man after all
I personally would love, love, love a side-story centered around Odysseus and Calypso during his seven-year captivity. It doesn't even have to be a musical, per se, but just anything to show what life might have been like for Ody during that time. How he coped, if he ever made any attempts to escape (like the cut song "Appetite"), his relationship with Calypso and how it changes, things like that. I'm very curious about it and would love even just some writing that talks about it in detail.
Well, yea, but he's modified some elements of The Odyssey for the EPIC series. In God Games, Athena tells Hera that he never cheated on his wife. I wouldn't necessarily equate 🍇 to cheating. But, the gods might be so callous to mortal things like that, maybe they wouldn't see a difference? If that's true, then his story telling of Odysseus and Calypso could be one more about unrequited love. With the information he gives in the EPIC series, I see a version of their story I would absolutely adore exploring. In Not Sorry For Loving You, Odysseus even proclaims a type of love for her. Understanding how he got to this point from Love in Paradise could prove to be very interesting, imo.
@@adinros7699 There's absolutely nothing wrong with taking artistic liberties and personally I love how this story has been modernized where the women are more respected and the gods find faithfulness to one's partner to be a rare and applaudable trait, enough even to grant him divine intervention to allow him another chance to go home. It should probably be mentioned that being a victim of 🍇 doesn't make you a cheater in any world. It's specifically that view of Calypso's story, one of unrequited love, that is so very harmful. In no world does allowing Calypso to speak of her obsession helpful. Then to top it off with Odysseus proclaiming that he "loves" or cares for her too? It's like saying, "Hey, it's ok to just keep shooting your shot and holding someone hostage to your advances because one day they might just change their mind and love you back." It makes Calypso look like someone you should feel bad for when her actions are vile. Please don't forget that she forced him to sleep with her every night and he cried every day for 7 YEARS. This fact wasn't changed in Epic. We hear Odysseus's lament and all Calypso has to say about it is that her "life would be so much worse" if Odysseus had died. She doesn't care about him at all. She is just obsessed and lonely but none of that give her the right to try and force someone else to love her. Lastly, it's important to remember that there are people out there who are listening to Epic and sadly have lived through what Odysseus is put through with Calypso. Not Sorry For Loving You could have ended with Odysseus cutting Calypso off to tell her to fuck off and that would have made WAY more sense especially since this song is in the Vengeance Saga and been so validating for those who have experienced this. I know Jorge has put a lot of work into Epic and all the characters are very enjoyable but Calypso is a monster, no different than Polyphemus, Circe, Scylla, Charybdis, or Posidon. They are all obstacles that got in his way and tried to prevent him from returning home.
@@OokamiTheFadingFlower That doesn't matter, her actions are still paralleled with SA in that she is forcing her love on Odysseus. My point remains the same.
Love the Iliad ideas! Branching out with smaller projects after Epic and before starting another big concept sounds like a great plan. Good way to keep the creative juices flowing without getting burned out. Not that I'm not eager for some sort of big Iliad project, if that's what you decide to do, but whatever your next major creation is will be worth waiting for.
If you’re open to suggestions, I did comment this on another video and I don’t want to sound like a broken record for bringing it up twice, but I think that a spinoff about the epic of Gilgamesh would be really cool.
I would love to hear your take on the story of Achilles or Heracles and while they're so fleshed out already, your ideas could make them feel so real. Obviously whatever you decide to do you have our support and I'm excited for the future!!
I _need_ to know how they got the wind bag. I was so intrigued as to how it was so hard to find, or why they even decided it was mandatory for Odysseus to have it. Also, of course, more Troy 😂
This all sounds AMAZING! I literally only listened to the whole saga two weeks ago and now I have half my friends listening to it with me. You are such an inspiration for writers and singers and you have my full respect. 🙂
Epic the musical is kinda making me wanna write a musical abt Eros and psyche but idk my only name idea is “trials” but I’d have to keep thinking about that
Lmao, I was thinking about possible names and just snickering cause I could only think of stuff like “RAD: The Musical” or “DECENT: The Musical” decent because that's what comes before epic. You could also call it LAME: The Musical but anything that comes from jorge isn't lame. Legend: the musical sounds like the best option lol
What every you do. I'm 100% sure it will be good. The way epic is made has me hooked (the story and the way it is made, the small hints in parts of the music makes it so interesting).
U could do like a penelope pov and u could use the cut song when odysseus is telling athe that he loves penelope and u could have a sad bit where odysseus leaves and penelope telling telemachus odysseuses stories and some other Greek mythology stories
You know what would be cool? Like an hour-or-short-long musical about Eros and Psyche. Their story, love and the girls' quest have great potential. (BTW I absolutely love the gods in Epic and I hope the next project will have more of them! Artemis, Dionysus, Hades, Hestia, Persephone and many MANY others had wonderful potential to be great actors! )
3:16 For the Iliad, you can do it around Aquiles (idk how to write the names). But yeah, the story around aquiles and patroclus and how the fought togeter. And, at the end of it, you can make around aquiles dead and rise of odysseus and the wooden hourse; writting that song in a way that preludes the horse and the infant from Epic in lyric and rythm. Just an idea I have, hope it would help you
To continue on this I would like to see how a person created by gods to serve gods denies this and becomes ruthless king starts to care after meeting his Friend and loosing him due to the gods and finds that loving someone is a blessing that you don’t know you have until it’s gone. Just an ideal
Jorge, you are an incredibly skilled writer and muscian and truly INSPIRE me to create new things!!! AND I REALLY REALLY HOPE, that with all your reach to the massive community of awesome fans that we could host a fundraising event for Gaza!!!!!!
Like I would do anything for that illiad musical. My fav part of Epic (Which really couldn’t be a surprise but was ultimately so hard to decide on in actuality.) was definitely the gods, their motifs, powers and how they actually are so weird and video game like. OH. MY. GOD. YESSSSSSSS
🤗
the best "theme of heroism" story about Greek myth is Disney's Hercules
That theme of 2 morally neutral sides reminds me of Attack on Titan
For the Iliad the theme would obviously be regret considering how when Ody finds Achilles in the underworld in the original odyssey, Achilles tells ody that if he were given the chance to give up all the glory, all the fame, and all the things he were remembered for just to walk the ground under the sun one more time, he would. This is because Achilles was given the option between living a long life with a big family but not being remembered after his death, or living a short life but being remembered for eternity afterwards, and as you all know he chose the 2nd option.
Love this take but adding to it: have that tempered with a rage anthem that slowly turns to regrets: similar in a way to
*Spoilers*
Full speed ahead from the Troy saga then in the vengeance saga.
if ruthlessness wasn’t already the theme of epic it would fit great for the iliad, what with being in a war as a soldier and such and wrath being a theme in the original iliad
@@DrCranberry that one wasn’t from homer, it’s attributed to a different poet. and in all honesty i dont think anyone wants that one

But be careful all the same."

the kidnapping of Helen, the mustering of armies, Diomedes and Odysseus being the side ship to Patrochilles - and Helen, hopefully, not being into Paris but hating that she's married to him and her wanting to go back to Menelaus
Maybe there could be like an "Origins Saga" /musical
That way, Scylla and Circe and Eurylochus origins as well while still giving the opening for more ideas in mind

Right?! I’m like “annnnndd now my family’s gonna have to hear me obsess about ‘AWESOME: the musical’ for a a few more months after my obsession with epic goes down”
Hey Jorge! Will Epic be like an ACTUAL musical on broadway?
My question exactly!! I can't really imagine it being as cool on broadway, since lots of the musical seems to rely on imagination with the fantasy elements etc. But I could be proven wrong :)
In older videos he said he talked about how he would want to adapt EPIC as either a stage show or a movie. At the time, he said he was leaning more towards an animated movie but if he were to do a stage show it wouldn’t be on Broadway and would be super high tech and stuff
I would love it to be a more animated movie
I love how this is basically “is Jay going to make another musical? … yeah. Epic DLC musicals.” I love this.
Ooooh, this would be cool!

Oh I’m loving the idea of bringing EPIC characters back, I’m already a fan
You really don't want that story... She's forces him to sleep with her every night against his will and he spends everyday crying by the ocean.
Jorge stated that his version of the story doesn't have SA 😁
I can definitely see why an Iliad musical would be a bit more difficult to tackle but I can 100% see you doing it!!
EPIC will forever be legendary.
