    Agreed with you alot didn't make sense but I think....they seem to be going with a way of story telling of perspectives same is "the last jedi" (where you had Luke's perspective and then Ben's perspective and then the perspective of what actually happen.....(show runner did say they drew heavily on Rian Johnson story telling)....so eps 3 was from Osha perspective....maybe there will be one from Mae...then finally the one from Sol. Torbin gets the scare at the end of the episode but it wasn't explained here. So there seems to be more to this story...
    The part about the "Tread" doesn't seem to be recon either..... the witches mentions some call it "the force" but they call it the "tread" or what ever.... which I can live with. Just like in the real world people have different way of interperting the same thing or concept....or religion.
    The birth without a father... yeah that a bit over but in one scene they did mention that the twins were conceived unaturally and that if the jedi found out how they were conceived it was be bad or something so maybe it is not in a way like how anakin was conceived.
    I think overall it wasn't a good or bad episode it was just setting up for the later episode.

    • @Boblovesmovies
      @Boblovesmovies  Месяц назад

      I appreciate the feedback and hearing your point of view. I don’t think the thread was a Retcon either. The way I interpreted it was that’s how they interpreted the force. It just didn’t make sense to me as opposed to an energy field that surrounds all things. And you could be right about the birth and that’s why I pointed out in my video that it’s implied that they were created through the force, but in all fairness, they do leave it open for another creation. Honestly, I have a feeling they’re not even gonna answer that question. We’ll see what happens though. Again thanks for the comment.

    While I realize this is an 8 episode series, a budget of 180 million?? Dune 2 had a budget of 190 million. And it has a compelling story, great acting, and amazing visuals. Where did SW budget go?

    The thing that annoys me most about the meta discussions surrounding the show is that the acting is legitimately pretty bad, especially from the main character.
    The line delivery is often very bad. It's one of the very few cases where I can say "Yeah, the writing sucks, but the actors are legitimately terrible at acting," instead of "The acting was very good, it's a shame about the writing."
    Sad thing is that I seriously got the impression that it's less that they shot every scene with only a single take and more "We did 20 takes, and that was the best one," for every scene with Otia and Mae.

    • @Boblovesmovies

    I disagree with your observations, however I agree with you about the overall quality. The major issue is with this show is it's predictable. Whatever this cult is isn't really important whether they are a sect of night sisters or another force cult. The mystery is did the Jedi eradicate them out of fear and they were actually innocent. The answer is obviously the Jedi acted out of fear , probably provoked by the witches and the Jedi slaughtered them in what they thought was self defense, and in doing so wiped out the last of their kind , and then justified it as taking care of a threat. Then later they realized they made a mistake and covered it up from the council. while mae the survivor was found by a sith, told her story to him and that sets the sith up to move more aggressively with their plan . Darth Sidious destroyed the Jedi without using a weapon ( for the most part) which again is the sith way as quoted in this show. Maybe I get some small details wrong or more small details are added but that's the story. A story that was done a lot in 70s thrillers and devil movies. Just because you port that into Starwars doesn't make it suddenly original.

    • @Boblovesmovies
      @Boblovesmovies  Месяц назад +1

      I appreciate the comment. And you’re not wrong about the show being predictable. You’re probably right that they wiped them out and covered it up. I was actually thinking about that after I posted the video. That actually might be more interesting.

    • @motorbikeray
      @motorbikeray Месяц назад

      I have the same theory as @joegarza4869. If you re-watch episode 3 and go to the end right before (edit: Osha) wakes up on the ship, you'll see a view of Indara and the Padawan Torbin(?) in the background. If you pause the picture of those two and look at Torbin, then you'll see that his face looks a bit beat up. I'm guessing the Jedi were at the witches' coven talking to the witches when both sides noticed the fire. The witches blamed the Jedi for the fire and attacked the Jedi, who then defended themselves and killed the witches. Only after the witches were killed did the Jedi discover that Mae started the fire. While the Jedi were killing the witches Mae witnessed the event, not knowing the fire she started caused the misunderstanding that led to the Jedi and witches fighting each other. The Jedi realized that they f-cked-up so they agreed to cover the truth about the killings after returning to Jedi HQ.

    • @imobius_1i98
      @imobius_1i98 Месяц назад

      @@motorbikeray mmm but in eps 2, Torbin right before he took the butan, said that he thought "they were doing the right thing"..... which leads me to believe it wasn't the Jedi mearly defending themselves? But yes there was most likey a coverup and something made Torbin guilty. Sol might not even know since he was out looking for Osha and Mae. Maybe it is just me looking to wish more story where there isn't but the fact that Torbin had that scare at the end and it wasn't explain in this episode means there is at least one more perspective will be seen....hopefully. Eps 3 was just Osha perspective......I think we will see a Mae perspective and a Sol perspective....kinda like what they did in "The Last Jedi" with a Ben, Luke and then the actual truth perspective in how he became Kylo Ren.

    Most of the power players in this show were hired through the casting couch. Considering the show runners past occupation. I doubt she knows otherwise. Disney already established they (at least women) can use the force to do what ever BS the script/plot needed it to. I’m not even talking about Rey’s BS force healing. That scene with Lea just flys back into a starship. After she’s been blown up and floating in space. IN SPACE! For a decent amount of time. Then magically while unconscious flys back in unharmed. Like the force couldn’t let Lea die just yet🤦‍♂️ I lost all hope with that scene. Then when the damn space horses showed up I thought I had been drugged. Horses on the outer deck of a star ship 🤯 Honestly this show can only be on par with those movies. You can’t really get worse.

  • @shirak8
    @shirak8 Месяц назад

    My only counterpoint. Is that it does make sense that Otia wanted to be a jedi. Because they established she had wanderlust and wanted to see the universe. Then when she saw jedi she went on about their robes and expressed curiosity. Its not really that she wanted to be a jedi. She just wanted to leave. So her motivation was on point. Further she ends up failing to become a jedi which is even more on point because her original motivation wasnt pure.
    The whole thing is still a dumpster fire though.

    • @qty1315
      @qty1315 Месяц назад

      The thing is that she was literally taught to hate the Jedi, so her seeing the Jedi and being like "Oh, they have cool robes, I wanna be one," doesn't make sense within the context the episode established.
      I feel like you can't have her motivations be "I want to see the universe, so I want to be a Jedi because Jedi are cool," and "I was taught my entire life to hate the Jedi by my mothers who I love very much."

    I have an open mind, but this episode was horrible. SW producers never seem to learn that basing lead characters on children is almost always a bad idea. The girl’s acting is atrocious. The Queen overacts so badly, it is almost farcical. I thought the twins were conceived by Lesbianism using the Force? To be honest that was one of many weird, half thought out ideas. Why were all of the witches dead? Is Mei supposed to be Evil? She seems more of a snotty brat. This episode rivals TLJ for worst piece of SW BS and that’s saying something.

    Great episode. So the first 2 episodes are teasing you that something bad had happened in the past. This episode explained a bit of what happened but not the whole story. So now we have more questions about it.
    Now we know that all the witches are dead. I feel like theres going to be a plot twist to how they died/how the other twin died.
    Something i could understand people not liking is that the witches can use the force and that because they are as one they can use the force. I honestly dont mind it. Weird way of explaining it. Also that the twins were made with the force or something. But you gotta realise that the force is basicly like magic. Magic doesnt make sense.
    Remmeber its just a story. Its not real. I at least like that the story is progressing quickly.
    Honestly if you arnt liking the show they should probably stop watching.
    We will dont know what the jedi were guilty of since that one jedi killed himself and how he got that scar. So there will definitely be more flashbacks that will explain everything.

    2:40 I do not believe it takes anything away from Anakin's birth. If anything it implies new context to the origin of an ability Palpatine tempted Anakin with in Revenge. Palpatine told Anakin the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise, how he discovered a means to create life via the force. The EU novel Plagueis dives further into that, and showrunner Leslye Headland studied the EU to bring pieces of it into her show. So with that in mind, the Sith find Mae after the events of this episode, see her potential, and learn she was conceived by the force. Well then, why wouldn't they direct efforts into learning this power for themselves? It's implied in the prequels and EU that Anakin was born because of Plagueis' experiments to this end. A success and a failure, he created a powerful being but couldn't control where that being would be created.
