    I've had no luck with the Raptor XR on my Mavic Air, I get the same exact distance (around 1800ft) with stock antennas before "strong aircraft interference" kicks in and returns me home. I live in a suburban area so I'm not sure what the deal is. I tried both 2.4 and 5.8 with the same results.

      dabbler90 : I would think that the 2 antennas operates at different frequencies 2.4ghz and 5.8ghz, if reversed connection then the specific tuned antenna should be fixed to the specific frequency channel. Well I skipped the video a lot, does he mention which is which?

      It wont increase the already incredible 30dbm(1000mw) that the Air has on 5.8ghz.
      Yagi/parabolic extenders (16 bucks) combined has gotten me 4.42 km with the Air ...one way...landing with 2%...only limited by battery life.
      Even at 4.42 km away I had solid video connection.
      Altitude and environment have alot to do with how far the signal will go and how solid it is.
      The "sweet spot" for altitude is definately between 300 and 400ft.

    Nice video...but the Air can get 4km+ even without this mod.
    A 16 dollar set of Yagis with a parabolic reflector gives absolute solid connection...especially on 5.8ghz.
    Because of the battery life limitation...the Air is not going to go past 4.5 km... no matter what modification you do.
    This mod looks very nice to some for the cosmetic benefit...but wont truly extend the range that the Air can already achieve.

    Awesome video but there's no proof they actually work especially in residential areas there are some videos that are out they're all being tested in Open Fields the real test would be in a semi residential area to see how strong the signal really is and to see how good these boosters really work I'm so happy I own the mavic 2 Zoom don't have to worry about these issues ocusync 2 is the best but I could see them being used for the mavic air but only if they work and there will definitely need to be proof behind that and there is none but to those who bought these extenders good luck and I hope they do work for you

I've been searching for extenders but my main aim is to improve the quality of the video feed as i dont use it alot for long range. Will this smooth up the video feed over a short distance in city enviroment or for hiking trails and moutains. Does this work on both 2.4ghz and 5.8ghz?.Thanks for the help

      Sometimes you can use a bigger square head if it’s that stripped. There’s also various methods you can google but one includes using a rubber band and the screwdriver to add some friction

    • @Honeypot-x9s

      Unfortunately if it’s completely rounded out, may have to use a small cutting wheel on a dremel... cut a flat head shape or a plus shape then use a flat head or a Phillips head screw driver..
      If you don’t want to risk mangling the plastics you may have to drill it out with a reverse tap drill bit... that way as you drill into it it bites in and starts loosen it out. Then toss the that screw and find another screw that uses more common type of face like flathead..

    • @Honeypot-x9s
      @Honeypot-x9s 6 лет назад

      The reason people do that is to match the range of occusync or get close.
      I modded my mavic air’s WiFi controller and I use +6Db dipole antennas tho. My range is massively improved. The limitation now is down to battery life even in fairly congested areas. But I can cover miles of range now. The other thing it helped with is picture clarity, before in WiFi congested areas or longer distances the image could get soft like 360P live feed. Now stays 720P and pin sharp until I’m about 3.5 km out.. then starts to fall back to 360P looking video.. using nanosync system I also have but dislike because have to face the drone at all time, it stays 720P the entire time! But if your turn off axis too much it falls apart and disconnects. Also only works exceptionally well on 2.4Ghz 5.8Ghz it falls apart after 3km. That’s why I like dual band dipoles better. You can face the wrong direction and they work almost equally as good on both bands means if areas your in has congested 2.4Ghz band you can swap out for 5.8Ghz without worrying.
      Compared to my Mavic Pro and mavic 2 Pro obviously more limited still but, I picked up my antennas from amazon they designed for 802.11 AC WiFi system and about 50% larger than stock antennas but they have higher gain. I paid like $10 for them, included wiring and connectors and adapters and got 4.5 avg rating out of 5 for people using it on WiFi. Figured $10 and half hours dicking around inside the controller was worth it. And it was.

      @@Honeypot-x9s whats the name of the antennas that u buy on Amazon? Thanks

    • @Honeypot-x9s
      @Honeypot-x9s 5 лет назад

      @@luizjunior7785 hi i should have followed up my post since been some recent changes. i do not currently own the mavic air anymore (sold it) and have since purchased a few new drones and moved back away from Wifi.. secondly DJI's latest .560 (i think?) update, the wifi logic was tweaked secretly it appears like. it appears that now with stronger antennas that mavic air tries to stay on "HD mode" when signal is weakening instead of dropping to "normal" or "sd mode" or slicing bandwidth down more. and instead se large frame drops as it tries to reduce the quality. which result in overall same range as stock somehow. and DJi never allowed the mavic air to change how image is received or channel width or anything like that instead its "automatically" managed by software. you can only pick channel/band.
      but i believe the antennas were either Linksys or TP-Link antennas for something that uses dual band and 802.11 AC antennas and like +6DBi gain? you may need to 3D print or figure out a solution for adapting the barrel connectors to the controller as they will be sloppy and loose on their own, their maybe a kit you can strip parts form and combine together.
      however all that being said i no longer would recommend this as it appears DJI changed or tweaked the Wifi logic a bit and made this less functional mod on its own..amplification could probably overcome these limitations but i seen people fry their controllers and cause more bad than good with wifi amps.. and dual band wifi amps are expensive.
