We're just doing this at home now & hubbie was scratching his head about the no teflon tape... as when he attempted to screw in the spindle w tef on, it wouldn't go in. I said hangon ill Google it lol thanks for the instructions 🎉
How would you undo the old coverplates if you had to keep them undamaged 1:24 ? Mine are super tight. I dont want to replace the taps if I dont have to.
Get some thin rubber matt or fabric and get a pipe wrench on to it. The rubber matr goes between the cover plate and the pipe wrench to prevent it getting scratched
I would say you might have the hot and cold on the wrong sides. Normally the taps turn opposite directions for the sake of aesthetics. Normally ceramic disc taps will have a lever that turns 1/4 turn. Some might come with cross handle tap handles. This might be where the confusion is.
Just put a pipe wrench on the spindle. That should have the strength to unscrew just about anything including any silicone sealing the wall. I have a 12" pipe wrench. If you check my other tap videos I'm sure I use it. Hope that helps
This is probably because you have too much pressure in the mains supply. That can be easily fixed by getting a 500kpa pressure limiting valve installed on your water meter.

That's great, I'm so glad I could help you out.

@@orbitplumbing That worked like a charm! Tried WD40 and hot and cold methods and thought I'd never get the thing unstuck. Thanks heaps.
The COLD is reversed thread. (turn left to close) Seems to be the trend.
Is this because of scalding?

You maté lucky that spindles come off so easy, what you would you do if spindles not come off easily?

Rubber washers were a pain, ceramic work much better but seem really noisy in comparison. I live in a flat and my neighbours have noticed it too!
