Lingang District Investment and Planning Exhibition Centre, China

This 8,150sqm Exhibition Centre sits to the north of the Luchao river, at the entrance to the North Island. The overall shape of the building is simple, powerful and sculptural and enhances its beautiful surroundings.
The North Island is one of three islands in Dishui Lake - an important tourist resort. The buildings on the North Island will be themed around communications and art and culture.
The North Island currently consists of an inner lake and a large lawn, with some supporting buildings under construction. The area for development is surrounded by greenery and a beautiful landscape, adjacent to the lake. A landmark Art Centre for the region is also being built close by, the style of which will be complemented by the Exhibition Centre. On the south side of the site, there are landmarks, planetariums, urban parks and other scenic natural landscape resources.

The Exhibition Centre is arranged along the lake shoreline in curves, to complement the landscape and allow for natural shading. The building roof is covered with roof greening to integrate it further with the surrounding environment.
The building is divided into four areas: the exhibition space, an investment promotion display area, public space and an administrative office and logistics area. The functional divisions of each part are clear, and they are closely connected through the central lobby. Due to the introduction of design techniques such as a sunken courtyard and shared spaces, people will enjoy an open and flowing architectural experience.
The combination of new technologies, the overlapping water, the shared space like a layered ribbon, the indoor and outdoor steps and platforms and the roof garden, will create a novel and unique tourist experience.
