It's about misrepresenting the payments as something they are not. It's about claiming expenses and deducting them on your taxes, and hiding the fact they are NOT LEGAL EXPENSES.

Cohen went to jail for lying to Congress, and for perjury in a court case about his taxi medallions. Both these instances did not involve Trump, as Trump wasn't brought up in the congressional hearing and had nothing to do with Cohen buying taxi medallions.

Cohen presented recording, typed receipt itemized in Weisselber's handwriting, there have been other corroborating witness testimonies, and there are still 2 witnesses the prosecutors plan ... so to claim Trump's awareness has not been proven is erroneous.
The defense's evidence remains to be seen, yet, as I understand it, N.Y. law requires a lower bar (vs "beyond any doubt) for misdemeanor charges. Since, in this case, a felony would be a "reflex" charge by the state iff two verdict misdemeanors are connected (falsified documents pursuant to conceal hiding from voters story about adultery with a porn star ... whether or not such affair happened or not). Therefore, the prosecution need only present a "preponderance of evidence" supporting two misdemeanors and the relatedness thereof(?).
Do you have access to legal analysts who can confirm the standards to which evidence must support "preponderance of" vs 'beyond resonable doubt" for an ultimate felony conviction?
The misdemeanors are irrelevant, brag has to prove what was going on in trumps head. Impossible to do so, also the accounting software used just had drop boxes to file expenses, legal fees was one of them so there’s isn’t even any evidence of intentionally falsifying anything. Moreover, Fat Alvin has ZERO jurisdiction to prosecute a federal campaign finance violation even if there was one. You know who does have the jurisdiction? The DOJ AND SEC, and BOTH already looked at this and determined no crimes were committed. So, this is nothing more than an unlawful political hitjob that no other DA would ever do and no other citizen would ever be subject to. Evidenced by the judge refusing to let cameras in the courtroom so the American ppl can see what’s going on and not have to rely on liberal media spin, also, a gag order against the DEFENDANT, (gag orders are there to protect defendants) and not against the prosecutor or witnesses, which is absolutely unheard of. Which is why literally every respected legal mind is in agreement that this case will be obliterated in appellate court
