Since you guys are going to react Ultraviolence, I would react to it at night, like in the evening time. Ultraviolence is a dark album, probably the most darkest album Lana has ever made and filming it at night would really set the mood
Definitely gotta try to match moods. Like they mentioned born to die paradise felt like a warmer, summer kind of season. And they couldn’t listen to it in the middle of a colder season.
Me too. Watching new folks and welcoming them in is as close as a longtime Lana lover can get to hearing the albums for the first time and feeling that musical high all over again.
What a cool surprise seeing you back & so glad you'll be continuing your Lana journey! Can't wait for you to tackle Ultraviolence & the rest of her discography....I think you'll really enjoy her evolution as an artist to the current day (& fingers crossed she finally wins a WAAAAAY OVERDUE Grammy on Sunday!)
It's so gross. As soon as I saw the quote from the voter (anonymous, go figure) who said he's never given her a chance since SNL 12 years ago I knew it was over. I hope she never goes back, those frauds don't deserve her attending their scam ceremony.@@progamergamer1000
Paradise Lost is a famous poem by John Milton. It’s about the Garden of Eden, and the loss of innocence when Adam and Eve were banished from the garden. Lana recites this poem in her short film Tropico, which features Gods and Monsters, among other songs from The Paradise Edition. So you weren’t far off at all! This whole project is about the disillusionment Lana felt once she made it big in LA, and comparing her idealized vision of fame compared to the reality. Very much David Lynch Mulholland Drive vibes. As for Yayo…the whole song is Lana singing to LA/fame. Lana wrote this song in 2007/2008 when she was attempting to get noticed. She was living in a trailer park at the time. There’s footage of her as Lizzy Grant singing this song. It’s basically begging Hollywood to “let her put on a show” “take her out of that dark trailer park”.
One thing you should know about Lana is, though her music and lyrics can be very deep and heavy at time, they can also be very funny and sarcastic and Lana's sense of humor is so underrated people don't imagine how unserious she can be at time 😅 Also to answer your question about the high vocals at the end of the Cola bridge, it's definitely Lana singing and you should check out her live performances of it (especially the Olympia one from 2013) cause she does the high notes live and it's purely heaven !!
You guys should watch / react to - The H&M commercial / Blue Velvet music vid - Ride music vid -& tropico short film!! You’d love all 3 😍😍 glad you’re back!!
Her lyrics get better and better each album too. Norman Rockwell and tunnel have the most amazing lyrics I’d say. Just FYI ultraviolence is sad psych rock and then honeymoon is creepy super slow violin movie, her slowest album. Then the next, lust for life is a more commercial pop album, upbeat and you guys will vibe. Then Norman is her magnum opus. Just please stick to it and don’t stop at honeymoon cuz it’s speed!
I loved watching this reaction. I appreciate the authenticity you shared. I'm excited for the Ultraviolence album reaction. It will be a life-changing musical experience!
I missed you guys and i can't wait for you to get to the present, Lana has been puting out masterpieces, she really never misses. it's always interesting to hear your thoughts, opinions and analysis. I wish you can react to Ride MV it will change everything for you, it's loaded, the MV is 10:10 minutes long, and it has beautiful poetry like I can't listen to Ride without it. Thank you for the reaction. ultraviolence is a Rock album mixed with Lana so prepare yourselves for that journey. love you, hopefully, I'll get your notification sooner this time.
Lana's discography is incredible because it starts off good and only gets better, with her latest album Ocean Blvd being her most impressive masterpiece (so far).
Loved this reaction and love the friendship that you two have! The insightful commentary and the way that you two really listen and build off each other's perspectives is really special. After over a decade of listening to Paradise hundreds, if not thousands, of times, you make me think of these songs in ways that I never have before. So excited to be along for the ride as you continue your Lana journey!
Thank you for reacting! Definitely just take it in first! Don’t turn it into a homework assignment where you can’t enjoy it. So I appreciate the re-reaction. I can’t wait until y’all reach one of my favorite albums: Honeymoon!!!
Lana also chooses how she sings her songs very carefully. As for yayo, I like to believe she is drunk and sad but willing to do anything to make her man happy (“let me put on a show for you daddy”)
So glad you're back!! I love your thoughts and commentary. And it's totally understandable about not liking something on a first listen. Sometimes it's just not the vibe. But I'm so glad you gave it a second chance. Can't wait to see what you think going forward because Lana is similar to Taylor in that her albums have their own personality and sound, but they are all fully Lana. And yes, that is 100% Lana doing the high notes in Cola. She even did them when she sang the song live. BTW this ep has one bonus track called Burning Desire.
Ahhhh thank god! So happy you're back! Can't wait for Ultraviolence next! 🖤 Then you'll have Honeymoon Lust for Life Norman Fucking Rockwell! Chemtrails Over the Country Club Blue Banisters Did you know that there's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd And then FINALLY Lana's newest album, her upcoming anticipated tenth studio album called Lasso. Lana's first ever COUNTRY album! Out in September!
Girl bye. I love lana but you know that her next album wont be released in september and it wont be titled lasso 😭😭 she always does this just like she did with rock candy sweet.
It’s wild that I just checked last week to see if y’all updated your Lana catalog to just miss it a few days later. 😭 I’m so happy y’all are back and in a better mindset! I’m super excited for you guys to get to Ultraviolence & Honeymoon! 🙏🏽💛
No, but the fact that I totally thought in my head that something like that happened (you guys recording and not posting), but with Ultraviolence. I can totally see you guys having trouble with Ultraviolence, but I wouldn't have expected it to happen with Paradise. Either way, I think you guys explained it well and it wasn't just a matter of the music in itself. Please don't take too long to post again, your video reactions are easily becoming my favorite and I pretty much watch all video reactions to Lana del Rey. You guys are just genuine and wholesome, I can't wait for you to experience Lana's evolution. Kind of a spoiler alert, but she's a lot closer to God now and it will all make sense. Anyway, great reaction as always, take care of yourselves!
I don't know if you guys plan on doing music videos and such, or just albums. Either way, she released a short film named Tropico and a music video that could be called a short film for the song Ride. Ride has opening and closing monologs that are pure poetry. Also, if you were impressed by her voice here, it only gets better as you continue through her discography.
'blue' is featured on every single album multiple songs n takes on all the meanings of blue. like 'feeling blue' i.e. sad/depressed, blue flame being the hottest flame, 'talk till you're blue in the face' all the phrases and meanings associated with blue you best believe Lana has incorporated them into her work! like she says on ultra violence '"it's my fav color and my fav tone of song"' i.e. she likes sad songs. here 'singing blues" refers to the genre of music. she sees herself as a student and fan of jazz and blues music. she incorporates a jazz/blues cover in most albums. 'blue velvet' is the cover in this EP. 'the other woman' is her jazz cover on ultra violence etc.
Can"t wait for your UV reaction !!! This definitely a fan favorite but it was also a grower for a lot of people including me so don't stress about it I'm assuring you it grows more with each listen !
She has a cover song in most of her albums and it always fits the vibe, I love it. I’m so glad you guys gave Paradise a second chance!!! And I know y’all must be TIRED of me everywhere asking for it but we want some mv reactions!!!! Paradise has a “short movie” called Tropico where she made a joint music video for body electric, gods & monsters and bel air, that helps a lot to understand the meaning of these songs. I would love to watch your reaction. 🥹
Glad to see you back! Definitely don’t stress about trying to dig up too much info, just allow the music to speak to you. You’ll enjoy it so much more that way ☺️ Happy 2024!
The 'crystal method' is most likely a meth reference. Lana has opened up about her meth usage in her younger years and even referenced it in her 'Carmen' music video.
So happy to see you guys back ❤️❤️Someone already said it but the tropico short film and ride mv (basically a short film, it’s 10 min long) are soooo necessary to better understand this ep :)
And I do think it’s easy to over analyze Lana’s music, mostly her most recent stuff, and I’m happy u guys talked about that! Honestly I think the best way to consume her music is by not knowing a single backstory before listening and interpreting it however you see it, it’s fun to see different perspectives!
I've been patientlyyyy waiting and hoping for this !!!!!! I'm seated and NEVER apologize again !! LoL be well, stay well !!!! ❤ Edit: I'm so glad we're all here ! On the train !!! LOL ❤
The harvey line was about Harvey Weinstein. Cola was released before everyone found out about what he had been doing and after it all came out she stopped performing cola live. She said it wasnt specifically about him but a character like him, and she no longer felt comfortable singing it. I lovee her old live performances of cola tho i hope in the future she changes the line and starts singing it again
I hit "like" before you even started listening to the album, becuse I just appreciated your genuine explanation and I was happy you're back with more Lana 😊I'd suggest you to check out (even if on pirvate and not on channel) the visuals to this era, becuse it's the most Lana has ever gave us 😍 The music video for Ride is EPIC and raises this song to another level, Blue Velvet commercial is funny and in there she plays with the critic's voices that she can't sing, the mv for Burning Desire, which was a Jaguar car commercial ... sooo hot! And, a cherry on top, the Lana's short film Tropico 🌹she did it before such stars as Beyonce- Lemonade, Taylor Swift- All to Well, Halsey-If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power, The Weeknd - Mania, Tove Lo - Fairy Dust
so excited! but yes i totally get it! i think people fail to remember how as fans we were able to slowly roll into a new era and new sound/vibes of an album (because they all differ) due to the separation of singles! it takes a while to acclimate to- but im excited u guys r still doing lana! :-)
Really interesting reaction. Loved it. You should really take a look at the whole Ride music video, there's a monologue before and after the song, it's really well written and it would give you more insights on the song. Keep it up girls
With Cola, Lana said it's not about Harvey but she does refer to him throughout the song a lot. Once she found about the things he has done, she doesn't perform this song anymore or never will. It's annoying and sad about what happened because one loss is the beautiful song Cola lol
@@MiguelMikeLopez in the pre-chorus! “Harvey’s in the sky with diamonds and he’s making crazy.” She confirmed that that was about Harvey Winestein (don’t know how to spell his last name)
Ultraviolence is a completely new sound but with all of Lana’s art… it’s a grower. I love that entire album & it ages beautifully. Each listen is pure love…. I’m a Ride, American, God & Monsters girlie… those are my top 3. Old Money is a life changer & I wasn’t the same after hearing it. But it’s a perfect album you will soon be blessed with…. Just know she changed her sound & just sit back & let it sink in…..
I love that she romanticises not only herself as a woman but men too alot of her songs talk about the men she loves in such a deep romantic way and they way she describes men its like how some men in love describe woman in songs and peoms she looks at the through the female gase.
You should check out tropico, a short film by lana del rey which features three of the songs off of paradise, body electric, gods and monsters and bel air. The film ties together the idiology of "paradise" so well
Blue is Lana’s favourite colour (and type of song). It gets referenced a lot Edit: For Cola, Lana said “When I wrote that song, I suppose I had a Harvey Weinstein/Harry Winston-type of character in mind. I envisioned, like, a benevolent, diamond-bestowing-upon-starlets visual, like a ‘Citizen Kane’ or something. I’m not really sure. But I thought it was a funny at the time, and I obviously find it really sad now. And I support the women who have come forward. And I think they’re really brave for doing that….I mean, it was in the ether, I suppose. But obviously I don’t feel comfortable with it now. I thought of that right away….I think that, yes, I would say definitely [retire it from my catalog]. That would be the only right thing to do.”
