You are welcome Hugo! I believe this machine can weld 1/4" aluminum with full penetration on a single pass if the weld is done correctly. It can weld thicker than 1/4" aluminum if you use bevels or other techniques to make the proper weld depending on what the requirements are. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for the comment!

I'm thinking about buying the 250p. I do a lot of sheet metal work on cars and my Mig welder is really wornout. I also restore vintage equipment, and many of them have aluminum and magnesium decks, and since I don't have a welder for it, I often half to pay to get it welded, and that really cuts into the profits. Have you tried the 250p on sheet metal, and think aluminum or magnesium by chance?
Yes I have tried the 250P on 16 gauge aluminum, stainless steel and mild steel. I think it does a nice job and has a smooth ark at a low amp setting. I've even tried razor blades. The machine ran nice and is capable of doing a nice job of welding some pretty thin material.

That would depend on the welding technique and joint requirements. If you were to bevel the joint and use multi pass it could weld almost any thickness. I think it is capable of welding 1/4 and probably 5/16 with no beveling but that would also depend on the type of joint and strength requirements.

hello . I live in europe and i want to know what kind of adaptor should i buy to plug the argon into the machine. My machines have a quick coupling adapter, this one has not.
I'm really not sure Paulo. I do believe these YesWelder machines come with different connectors depending on where you live. I would say wait until you have the machine then you may be able to just install your quick coupling adapter to the connector that comes on the machine.

Hey man, I watched another video from you where you're showing how to get 220v from 110v outlets. I just bought this yeswelder 250p ac/dc which, as you know, is 220v, but my house only has 110v outlets as well. I am curious if you're still using the same method and if it is working well with this yeswelder machine. Cheers.
I have not used that 220V device for several years. I used it at my 125 year old house that had some outdated wiring and using my little stick welder. It will not work if you have a GFCI outlet in the circuits. Also I think most welders are too much for a device like that. The TIG 250P will most likely pull too many amps for that device IMO.

Yes Brandon you can pulse weld by pulsing the pedal. Either way, pedal pumping pulse or using the pulse settings can give you a stack of dimes look in the weld bead. That's a good question but I don't know the answer. I have not had a chance to test that machine. I do however really like the TIG 250P AC/DC machine.
I'm no expert but it's says 250 Amp welder yet the max amps for the torch is 200? is that even safe 🤔 or is the 250 amp just a lie?
That is pretty common Tom and actually a better rated torch than some machines out there. There is a 225 amp machine out there selling with a 150 amp torch. It's safe to a point depending on how many amps you are welding with and for how long. If you intend to weld at or above 200 amps and up most of the time, it will eventually burn up the torch. Most people using that many amps for an extended period of time are using a water cooled torch both for comfort and longevity of the torch.

Would I be able to install a thumb control scroller on my torch if I used this welder?
I would imagine you could as long as you found one with the correct connector and pin out. The NEW YesWelder Firstess CT2050 has a torch set up exactly like what you are asking for. It just became available via a kickstarter program. I'll leave a link below if you haven't seen it as well as a review video I just made of that machine if you are interested in seeing that.

Did you have to buy the foot pedal or was it included
It used to come with the foot pedal but today (2022) the foot pedal has to be purchased separately. The YesWelder pedal they sell for the machines these days is the Nova style pedal. Mine came with the old (tall) style foot pedal. It works fine but I would prefer the new Nova style they sell today at YesWelder.

Thanks for the demo. My 250PEACDC Tig, keeps cut off gas 2-3 s after push trigger down. Did l use the wrong settings ? or it is bad?
If the gas is not flowing the entire time you are welding your weld will be ruined. The gas should flow until after you release the trigger. By the way you describe it it sounds like there may be something wrong with your machine.
The one I purchased did has no pedal, do I need the pedal?
I was not aware they now have an option to purchase the machine without the foot pedal. Your comment and a previous comment is the first I've heard about it. Welding can be done without the foot pedal using the finger switch on the torch instead.

Bought myself one. It lasted 2 days before the arc got erratic and started popping and jumping on ac. Problem went away after a power cycle and everything was fine again. Then the 2t/4t stopped working and behaved like an on off switch. Problem went away after a power cycle. Then a couple hours later the arc would no longer start and wouldn’t be fixed with power cycling… wouldn’t even scratch start. Never pushed the amps above 110. From your videos it seems like a great welder… if you get a working one. Just glad it broke within the 30 day return window.
Yes that's the way it is with electronic man made products. If you get a bad one it's a bad one. I read about problems with weld machines from every brand and make forum I visit. If you get a good one, they can be a wonderful tool and will serve you well. So far I've had good machines from YesWelder with one exception of a DOA plasma cutter. YesWelder sent me a new one and it's been a great machine now for the 6 or 7 months I've owned it. Happy Welding to you!
Do you think this may be applicable to autonomous/fusion welding of copper of similar thickness to the aluminum here?
I cannot find anything on YT regarding that material, as most folks tend to braze rather than try pulse fusion. Seems in theory it might work. THANKS!

Dumb question: What is the reason for using pulse instead of just moving along with a constant voltage? Also, does the pulse work only when you use a foot pedal (rather than the default switch) on the Yeswelder 250?
Pulse is a tool to help control heat input. I have mostly used pulse with the foot pedal but I believe it works with either the pedal or with a finger switch.

The step up and down and timing can accomplish that and even the spot weld thingie works with just the switch and no foot pedal...or so people say. what do think to weld air cond pipes?
I've never welded air cond pipes but I have welded 16 gauge aluminum with it and it did that easily.
I got a question, I have this machine but am having a tough time finding a different torch to connect to the machine, would you happen to have a link to the one you used? And did you replace the whole lead or just the torch head? Thank you

I will look around YT to find out, but the only things I feel really ignorant about is the "whys" of Hertz frequency, the AC balance thing on aluminum (or any other metal for that matter). Do you have a video that talks about the hows and whys of those settings? YOU are a very clear instructor, but the other folks online seem to assume we have far more knowledge, and jump in about midstream.
I haven't made any videos about AC balance or AC frequency. Both are confusing at first but once you understand them, it's not complicated at all.
AC balance for Aluminum. On the YesWelder you'll want to be near 30 to 35% Positive for best results. Basically an AC current is switching from electrode + to electrode - polarity continuously at what ever AC frequency you have set or Hz. (DC current is one or the other constantly until you manually change it) TIG welding generally requires electrode - and that puts the majority of the heat into the work piece and not the electrode. (Electricity flows from - to +) When AC current switches to electrode + it puts the majority of the heat into the electrode and in a short time your tungsten will melt along with the filler wire and work piece. Electrode + in AC mode is what cleans the metal and removes the film or skin that aluminum has on the surface. Then the aluminum can be welded without contaminants. AC balance is balancing out the percentage of time per second that the machine is on AC electrode + and electrode - so you have a workable balance between electrode + (cleaning) and electrode - (penetration into the workpiece). In most cases machines need to be around 30 to 35% electrode + for sufficient cleaning without melting or destroying the tungsten.
AC frequency is a new feature that came out when inverter machines came on the scene. Old transformer machines used to be on 60hz frequency in the US. 60hz is the switching frequency of AC current in the US. This means the + to - switching of the AC current happens 60 times per second. With an inverter machine you can now adjust that frequency switching with the twist of the knob or push of a button. The higher the AC frequency the more narrow the welding arc becomes. This is preferred for thinner metals where a more precise placement of the bead is required but you get less penetration. The lower the AC frequency the wider the arc becomes and you get a wider weld bead with more penetration. This is basically a preference thing and I see most generally people like to be around 120hz for most general welding situations.
Whew! I hope this helps you out with your understanding of AC balance and AC frequency. Maybe one of these days I will do a video on those two.
why is the warning lamp still on??
That light lets you know if your amperage setting is within the correct range for the size of electrode you have set. If the welding amps you set is more than or less than the recommended electrode size that's set, the light will come on. Depending on what you are trying to weld, it may or may not be a problem.
You will get much better beads and more successful spot tacks if you clean your aluminum real well with stainless brush before you weld even though your aluminum looks clean it's still "dirty" it will puddle faster at the start and be so much smoother and cleaner nice work though looks like it works as good as the couple thousand dollar machines I have used at work over the years

hey bruce, I noticed the parameter settings warning light was on. I just got the 250p ACDC. When I plugged in the machine my light came on. I was wondering what it means and/or is it a problem?
I believe that light lets you know if your amperage setting is within the correct range for the size of electrode you have set. If the welding amps you set is more than or less than the recommended electrode size that's set, the light will come on. Depending on what you are trying to weld, it may or may not be a problem. At least that's the way I understand it.
As an example: Say you are using a 1/16" size tungsten and you try to weld something at 200 amps. The light will be on. Your weld outcome may be less than desirable and you'll probably destroy the tungsten.

Thanks Tater, I'm doing well. Sorry to hear about your issue. I personally have never seen anything like that with this machine. Unfortunately I don't have any info for you on how to fix it or what the problem might be. The best I can do is recommend you submit a ticket with YesWelder telling them what your issue is. I would also attach that video clip along with the email. Don't forget to include your order # with the other information. It will speed up the process and help YW determine what the solution will be. At the bottom of the YW web site you'll see a link that says "contact us", click on that and it will lead you through the rest. I have always received a response from them by the next working day. Sorry I can't help you more but I am curious what happens with this issue. The sooner you contact them, the sooner they can get it resolved and save you from hurting yourself banging your head against the wall trying to figure it out. Something is definitely not right with it IMO.

Rebranded junk! Lookup Keygree welders. Can be had for 150-200 all day online. This one is a rebranded Keygree 250 as far as I can see. I have a error 1 code on display. Units only been used for 30 min since ai bought it...They said out of warranty nothing they can do.. which I get.. however they also would not allow me to talk to support direct, only a call center. They also blocked my email when I tried to ask them about what part needs replacing or what error code meant... Buyer beware. Hope my incident was a fluke. Really liked the welder when it worked but feeling a bit hung out to dry.
Interesting! Your experience is completely opposite what I have experienced over the last year and a half with YesWelder machines and experiences. I have 6 different YesWelder machines and they have all been great machines in my experience. They weld very well and do exactly what I have expected them to do. I did get a "dead on arrival" CUT-55 but after an email to YesWelder and providing my purchase order number they refunded the full purchase price in two days.
As for your comment about them being rebranded, I personally don't care what name is on my machine. I don't have welding machines to impress people with brand names. All that matters to me is if they will do the job I need. If they do the job at a price I can afford, I'm happy. I'm impressed with what these machines can do for the price!

Hello John, I don't really know which one is the best. I've been practicing with some 16 gauge aluminum and steel with this YesWelder TIG 250P and it does pretty well in my opinion. I haven't tried it yet but I have seen it weld razor blades. Depending on what you consider "thin metal" I think it's a capable machine.

Just wanted to add another comment here. I got my new Yeswelder TIG 250P ac/dc yesterday and was going to try it out today. Well, I had a heck of a time so I asked Bruce for help. He answered me very quickly and I happened to have at least 3 settings totally wrong which he was able to point out to me! The welder is working fine now, my welding isn't of course but I hope it will come along in time. Kudos to Bruce for the help when you need it!

Good day Bruce! I just received my YesWelder TIG 250P. I had an electrician come out to my house to check my breaker and noticed that the machine says 40A max input on the back, but 30A max input in the manual. What do you have setup in your garage?
I'm glad you received your machine Brevin! I am only using a 30amp 240V circuit on my tig welders and it's been just fine so far. I haven't tripped the breaker yet.

Click the vertical 3 dots in the upper right section of the video the click the playback speed and you can slow the video speed down.
It’s also helpful to turn the volume down and turn on the CC when slowing the video.

If you were to put the yeswelder and the primeweld against each other, even buying a better torch and foot pedal for the yeswelder. Which one do you think comes out ahead?
I've been asked that question quite a bit lately and it's a tough one to answer. I like and dislike things about them both :) I would really like to have the best of both combined and that would be my ultimate machine but that is mostly personal preference. They both have the same features and perform about the same as far as I can tell. I really like using either one to be honest. I have a limited budget for my welding hobby so with the 20% OFF sale, right now I'd say the YesWelder would be my choice. I could use the $170 difference to buy other things such as welding rod, Argon, tungsten, weld metal etc. I say $170 difference because you'll have to buy a regulator for about $30 to use the YesWelder. The Prime Weld comes with a regulator. Hope this helps you out a little. That's a tough question to answer.
@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 I assume the torch and the pedal can be replaced on the Yeswelder? I'm not really experienced, more so messed around on a friend's mig.
I haven't done any research on that to be honest. It's the connectors I'm not sure about. As far as the torch on the YesWelder, I personally prefer a standard torch vs the european style torch. I converted mine to a flex head 26 standard style torch with stubby gas lens for $25 and I like that much better. It was a fairly cheap and easy swap. I plan to do a video of that in the near future but I just haven't gotten to it yet. Sorry I couldn't give you more definite info on this subject.

Hey Bruce. Finally got all the necessary parts and pieces including the TIG 250 AC/DC Yeswelder after four months of waiting since Black Friday sale. Bought a tank of Argon, hooked everything up, set the welder settings to TIG DC, something simple, tried to strike an arc and nothing. First of all when I flipped the power switch to ON, I expected the fan to cycle on and then off but there was nothing. Thought I would strike an arc anyway, again nothing. Do I have a dud or have I missed something simple? Yes, the ground clamp was on the material. I am not new to welding, just new to TIG. Would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks in advance. Richard
Hello Richard, sorry to hear you are having problems. The TIG 250 has a temperature controlled fan. The fan does not come on right away. Only after welding for a little while and as the machine heats up. Once the fan cools down the machine then the fan will shut off again. (a feature I really like about the machine)
If it's not striking an arc then that's a problem. Sounds like you may have a dud because it sounds like everything is set up correctly. I would immediately contact yeswelder. If you scroll to the bottom of their website home page you'll see a "contact us" and click on it. Go through the instructions and let them know what your problem is with your machine. Generally they will get back with you via email by the next day. Include your order number in your initial contact as it will save you time in the long run. They will probably want you to send them a short video showing the problem. You may even want to include that with your initial contact. (again saving you time with back and forth emails) Once they have determined that you do actually have a dud they are good about either sending a new machine or refunding your money.
Again, sorry this has happened to you but if you have a little patience yeswelder will resolve the issue. (in my personal experience)

Thank you for your fast and helpful reply. Once you reassured me that the fan did not cycle upon startup, I went back to my shop for another try. I disconnected the foot pedal, connected the torch pin connector, reset the necessary settings and I had a TIG arc. It appears my problem may be with the pedal. I can easily deal with Yeswelder if that is the case. Thanks for your help !!!
Excellent! When you use the foot pedal remember you should turn the machine on and fully press the foot pedal and hold it down until the upper of the three red lights (right side of the panel) illuminates. That tells the machine you are using a remote start or foot pedal. Once the top red light is on, you can release the pedal, turn on the gas and you are ready to weld.
The red light I'm talking about has a little box with an arrow in it just to the right of the LED. If it won't light up after holding down the foot pedal for 15 or 20 seconds. I would guess that there is a problem with the pedal. It will be an easy way to test if your pedal is malfunctioning but also a necessary step to weld using the pedal.
I was aware of that procedure and had made several attempts to arc the torch after the remote light showed the pedal was engaged with no luck. Will try again at a later date. Now I need to learn the machine settings for the various abilities. Thank you again.

Bruce, one thing I notice right off the bat is that welding steel with DC and welding Aluminum w/A/C is way different! I'm feeling more comfortable with aluminum because it gives a better arc. On steel, I have trouble getting a good weld pool because the arc seems so weak. I was using 1/16" coupons on DC at about 65 amps...
Sounds like you're coming along Keith. The 65 amps on 1/16" sounds righ to me. I use the 1 amp per thousands rule as you did.

@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Hey Bruce! Got the welder yesterday and I'm not quite ready to try welding but I did plug it in to see if it would light up. The Control knob does NOT push in to select other parameters! I even took the knob off, it does not push in at all.....
Good to hear you received the machine. That amp adjustment knob should push in and have a little click to it. If it's not doing that I would recommend you contact YesWelder. Click on the "contact us" link on the bottom of their website home page and follow the guidance to submit an email about your issue. Remember they are on the other side of the planet so they are working while we are sleeping here in the US. (I'm just guessing you are in the US) They have always answered my email by the next day without fail. Most likely they will guide you through some trouble shooting and maybe request a video or pictures of the problem. Once they have gathered enough information to determine if you can fix the problem or you have a bad machine they will rectify the situation. I know it's not fun but they will take care of you if you provide what ever they request. Where did you purchase the machine if you don't mind me asking?

Keith, I watched your short video clip. That machine has a completely different control panel from my machine. I'm wondering if your button is even supposed to click. I don't think I have ever seen a YesWelder machine with that control panel. I wonder if it is a copy or clone because it's not the same as the one I have. Is there a mode or settings button somewhere on the control panel?
