Awesome edit 👌🏻 love the tip about the hole in the skin to put your finger through ! I was given a tip last year which helped me loads and that’s to do both the cuts either side of the spine before removing the first fillet 🤙🏻
Thank you. It was very unexpected. It was on the hunt for sure. Maybe that's why it was so close in. When I gutted the pollack, it had 4 huge herring crammed inside.
Hey Spearfin. Great videos! Really something to be inspired by. To questions: 1. I’m about to order those socks/boots you have. But you can only choose S/M/L/XL/XL. I youse size 8/9 In shoes. What size shall I choose? 2. Those boots are 5.5 mm What size foot pocket should I choose? Thank you! Looking forward to here your answer Kindly Buster (Denmark)
Hello, hope you're well. 1. Check salvimar's catalogue and scroll down to page 72 to view the size charts for your size. (I have a Large Pair) 2. I have 3mm socks and have 45/46 salvimar footpockets. So if youre using 5mm allow for the extra room. I hope that helps, hopefully it gives you a better understanding. Any other questions let me know.
It's around 12 - 13°C I'm very comfortable in a 5mm suit I only start to feel a slight chill after about 4 hours in the water. Great wetsuit though, very comfortable.
Great size Pollock I haven't smoked one yet but did manage to spear one for the first time this year . What time of year do you find the best for spearing Pollock.🍻
Thank you and well done on getting your Pollock this year. All through the summer months seem to be the most productive for me but they stick around all year unlike the bass which move into deeper water during the winter.
I'm on the South Devon Coast, near Plymouth. This year has been very productive. I have never seen our water with so much wildlife. If you have some time spare, have a look at my other videos from this year. Some really good moments. Where do you spear abroad?
@@TheOutdoor_Guy Ah nice man that's awesome, would love to give it a try around there if you ever need a partner! I usually spear off the North Coast of Cyprus, that's my annual trip. But I've been to Belize, Florida, Bali and some other one-off spots
@@LearningToHuman Yeah no worries, next summer give me a shout and I would be more than happy to take you out. Places I really want to go spearfishing in the future
@@TheOutdoor_Guy Sure thing man, would be great to conenct with some UK spearos. Belize was my favourite spot, booked a private cattamaran to go out there for a week this month but Corona messed it up. Can hopefully re-schedule it for next year.

Any gun in the 70 - 80cm range is a great sized gun to start out with. Spearfishing UK have a 40% sale at the moment. Here is a link to one of their guns www.spearfishing.co.uk/spearguns/guns/omer-cayman-sport-speargun/?ref=14
Just starting out myself. Spearfishing.co.uk is great and I did speak to them but personally I found spearfishingstore.co.uk to be the most helpful. Drop either of them an email and they'll sort you out with great gear in no time
@@TheOutdoor_Guy yes mate. Also you’d get more flavour as well. They are all that healthy oils just under the skin, that enhances the flavour. You don’t want to loose them in the smoking process. Give it a go one day. You will see the difference
Awesome video bro, well done on finding such a nice pollock on a shore dive!
Thank you. I was surprised to see such a big fish in so close. Curiosity got the better of him

Great tip! I have seen people do this before and it makes total sense. I will make sure to do it next time. Many thanks
That coast line is amazing 😍 Also at 3:06 did you have to walk back down to get your camera, if so that's some dedication haha!
It's great isn't it, it's like something off of jurassic Park haha. And yes I did, I even slipped up on the way back down.
That is a BIG pollack for that mark, well done.
Nice fillet too !

Appreciate it!
Great video, you should definitely try brining the fish in salty water before you smoke it. Makes a big difference!
Thanks for the tip! Ill give it a go next time.

Rule of thumb, never remove skin before smoking
Okay, thanks. Is this to keep the fish moist and in one piece?
