Tanya Robinson Same here!!! And, I was heavily involved, brainwashed and indoctrinated before I even realized what was really going on, and what, exactly, was happening to me and my brain. Did a TON of damage!!! Emotionally, psychologically and spiritually!!! And, you’re right, though. You’re never ever bored!!! But, at what cost?!!? Ya know what I mean?!!? That’s where I have a major problem with the whole thing. I know a lot of people that I used to attend Church with and every last one of them are sooooo messed up. And, a lot of them are now doing drugs , alcohol, and other substances, just trying to numb their brains from all the stuff that they went through and what they are still going through because of their upbringing in the Pentecostal Church. It’s been extremely hard on me for sure. I now have Complex PTSD because of this cult. C-PTSD!!! Just too much for the human brain to handle!!! Your brain is NOT meant to handle so much fear, guilt, condemnation and all that stuff that leads to more and more anxiety. They constantly were preaching about hell fire and eternal damnation and scaring us half to death. They got off on scaring people!!! They LOVED it!!! And, it’s just not right!!!

But I take responsibility for my part in it in that I have a type A personality & grew up requiring myself to be perfect which, of course, is impossible. I made myself miserable & everyone else around me for a while. It’s unattainable & NOT of God. I just think you can’t throw the baby out with the bath water, so to speak. I couldn’t even go into a church for a long time until I had the epiphany that my concept of Him was totally wrong. He is Love, Compassion, Forgiveness. While I believe in Heaven & Hell, I don’t believe He’s up there just waiting for us to screw up. He will give us every chance, every opportunity. I am grateful for my upbringing because it planted so much of the Word in me that I needed immensely for what came later. I, too, have PTSD but that’s a really long story having nothing to do with the church. I appreciate your words. I truly hope you haven’t given up on Him, David. Churches are run by fallible humans. It’s so important we not keep our eyes on them because humans will always disappoint. I’m sorry for what you went through. My pastor was one of those hell fire preachers. I’ve just found a way to separate the message & Jesus from him! Although I haven’t gone to a Pentecostal church in 40 years, I have no ill will towards it. One last thought....are those people messed up because of their upbringing or because they’ve turned away from what they once knew? It’s a question I struggle with. Thanks for listening.

Just against the brainwashing, the indoctrination, and the abuse. And, because they go after the really young (because the younger ya are, the more impressionable you are), I was one of their targets. But, yup, many, many years later, I have now been able to separate myself from some of the really bad stuff. And, you’re right, God is NOT up there waiting for us to just mess up so that He can then throw us in hell. And, another thing that has really helped me is to know that hell never used to be taught the way it is nowadays. Hell, according to everything I have read and researched, is nothing but the grave. Jesus went to hell after He died, but where did Jesus go?!!? The tomb!!! The grave!!! Do some studying on this if you haven’t already. Might just set you FREE from some of the fear that you have regarding hell. I know it did with me!!! And, what does the Bible say over and over again?!!? “Fear NOT”!!! 365 times, to be exact!!! One fear not for each and every single day of the year!!! Hope this helps you!!!
David8024667 I read that about “Fear not” recently! Isn’t that amazing? God is so cool. No accident that there is one for each day of the year. He most definitely does NOT want us living in fear. The only thing I can’t agree on is hell. Jesus took the keys of Death and Hell. It would seem they are two separate things. Plus, I can’t explain away those who’ve had near death experiences who’ve gone there. My father had one at least 30 years before he died & he could never talk about it without crying. He went to Heaven but I can’t believe in one & not believe in the other. I do believe it was never created for man. We just live in the universe that was borne of sin through Adam & Eve. Everything happens for a reason though. Here’s my thought on how God is a fair & just God when clearly some lives are much tougher than others. I believe we each sat down with Him & said “yes Lord, I will take that path, I will go through that” & some picked harder journeys than others. I’ve gone through some pretty rough things but it’s all brought me to where I am today. I’m a much calmer, less judgmental, patient, loving person than I was. I can’t be mad at what got me here, you know? Anyway, while you & I may never agree on everything, I’ve really enjoyed talking to someone who’s had a similar upbringing. Most people would not understand. Tell someone your whole church used to dance before the Lord & see what looks you get...lol. I hadn’t seen that in a while & it just made me smile watching this video. People should definitely follow the voice of the Lord far and above listening to any man (or woman) though!! First there is no such word as demon in the Word Of God KJV second if i hadn't felt like i was at a rock concert instead of listening to what was supposed to be church music it would have been better i could have understood what was being sung and third all those women i saw with their short hair and it plainly states that a woman is not supposed to cut her her hair in any form including trimming if she does the Word says for her to be shaven or shorn read the Word 1Cor.11
