Honestly I personally🤔think your homemade rack🐁🐭🐀🐹system made out of Lumber😎is actually way better! Only thing I'd do is increase the height, width, length, and add some heavy duty casters!👍💪
Yeah I built all of my own rat racks, I just cut all of the 2-4's in half so the racks are lighter and was able to produce 2 racks for the price of 1. I love my wooden racks I've had 0 issues accept for once in a while the water lines will get clogged with guck but I spliced a drain line into the bottom section and now it works great. I'm not a huge fan of those plastic racks, they seem a little jangly plus the water systems aren't good at all. You did a great job building your wooden rack I bet it works better than that plastic one. Next time you build one try cutting the 2+4's in half it makes the racks much lighter and easier to deal with and the are plenty sturdy, mine are 6 tubs high and have been going strong for almost 3 years with no wear and tear at all. Keep up the great videos!
Unfortunately, I had a major issue with this rack this morning and sent a FB message and email to Stacy. Please see her for details and follow-up with me via email.
@@SNKELTD Are they good for breedings rats? I have a couple of them and I just got started breeding rats, at a very small scale. I just have 1 male and 1 female so far.
That sucks. Thanks for the video. I’m thinking about buying the vision rack for my hatchlings and grow outs because they use the same tubs as the reptile basics racks I already have. I priced it at only $700.
They are local to me no longer in California they were bought out by an aquarium company and these racks look like a nightmare they also could do more levels per rack if they didn’t have design flaws
To be a breeder since I started with 5-7 snakes years ago, build a 6 tub tall rat breeding rack, 2-3 females in each tub , leave 2 bottom tubs or 1 bottom tub open for grow-outs, and only have 2 good breeder male,, start from the top , leave the male in with the 2-3 females for 3 weeks, maybe 4 , get them pregnant then rotate the male down to the next level for 3-4 weeks untill everyone is pregnant , then rotate down to the nextX and continue doing it that way saves cost on feeding 5 male rats the whole time plus if you keep a male in each tub permanently you will have a ton of rats the same size where whe doing it the way I suggested? You’ll always have different sized rats growing up a few weeks behind one another and will have everything you need .: been breedingrats since I bought my first snake 7 years ago and learnt this is the most efficient way and best way to breed rodents especially for you need different sizes and don’t need a tone of rats the same size that will outgrow the size you need in the matter of a week or few eeeks.. just a huge tip to try to help a fellow keeper,,, 7 snakes, needs 6 tub tall rat rack using one or two of the bottom or top tubs open to put and raise your growouts but 4-5 tubs breeding the way I mentioned doing the 3-4 week rotation .. you will never have to buy rats from anyone one else and could even get a co2 tank and make your own frozen thawed of the sizes you need if you feed some snakes frozen hope that helped
i would agree that those racks are not what they are hyped up to be. i have one of their snake racks and i use it for shirt storage now. much rather prefer the ve racks or my ars. definitely not worth the money
Damn bro., same with therevsnake tubs., alittle more then you could of bought an official ARS rack/half rack and had something that will last you a lifetime and looks better and is more efficientXx those racks he was not happy with, super cheap to make but they sell for over a $1,000 or even $2500 depending on size of snake rack , you can buy an official ARS rack system you’ll be a lot happier with, that’s a shame there design for that rat beeeding set up is so flawed and expensive when it should be light half the price maybe cheaper for materials and what it is.. good damn.. no wk set why there company is going out of business but sorry you spent $1300 on garbage. I build every rat rack myself and have never had an escape or any chew outs .. plus I get great results feeding a collection of 40-49 snakes and always have enough rats all different sizes with only 2 7 tub tall rat racks and one 6 tub tall maternity rack bc I start with 3 moms in each tub but only let 2 give birth and raise youglingd in the tub themselves or else smell gets bad and there’s a lot of rat baby deaths bc there being suffocated from so many rats piled on one another . First one to get pregnant and close to giving birth,, goes straight to the maternity rack and joins back after the baby’s are weaned away or used

Good review I like how you were trying to be nice and not be too harsh lol
I noticed I started getting more angry the more I talked about it! Haha
Thanks for the review! I'm sorry you regretted your purchase, but I appreciate your honest review.

Just wanted to let you know you can make that rack 12 tubs using the v35 tub. They will fit 2 side by side. Good luck
Thx! I think I mentioned that in the video. You're technically losing a bit of space by doing that though
My favorite snake guy definitely want spend 1300 on that thanks for the heads up
Np Robbie!
Very good review when I was looking at them I said the same thing only 6 slots for 1300 is a rip off
Thank you
yeah biggest flaw is the feeding system for sure, i bought the same rack and the foods definitely a pain.
I don't like having to customize a $1300 brand new purchase because of lack of quality testing
I see you have those Reptile Basics rodent breeding tubs. For what exactly are you using them in addition to the racks?
I use them for breeding mice.
Used to use them for rats
@@SNKELTD Are they good for breedings rats? I have a couple of them and I just got started breeding rats, at a very small scale. I just have 1 male and 1 female so far.
They work fine, but can't fit much more than that in them
@@SNKELTD even in the large ones? I have 2 medium ones and I just ordered 2 large hoping I could fit 2 females and a 1 male in them...

At how many snakes do you think a rat colony is necessary? I've got 7 snakes and cant decide.
It wouldn't hurt to get a male and 2-3 females and just breed them. That way you can supply your own food.
@@SNKELTD would you suggest raising them up together then or just getting them grown? Or should I try looking for a colony already done?
Idk if it matters. Really just your preference. I think they take 3 weeks to give birth once they mate so take that into consideration

@@safehavencarequality1516 this more than helped now I just need to figure out where to put it once built cause I'm also building a snake rack system
You think “Clear Plastic Shelf Dividers with Magnetic Tape” would be easier to use than and look nicer than wood.
The csc one is 16 inches long and for a dollar a piece.
Do you have a link for what you're referring to?

I feel like I should make a video on rat breeding and stuff like that bc it could help a lot of people.
