Just found your channel. We bought the exact same trailer in July, 2018! Soon after new the microwave died and the water heater leaked (easy fixes). Just last month (May 2019) I discovered the axles were out of alignment (only 1 tire was worn only on the inside. Measure hub-to-hub and both L&R should be equal...mine was off by 3/4"). Grand Design covered it out of warranty and replaced both axles, bushings and leaf springs. I installed 5 Goodyear Endurance tires at the same time. Good luck and safe travels!
Nice review. We are between the the 2500RL and the 2600RB. We would be happy with either model, but are leaning towards the 2600RB. It just feels more open, the kitchen counter seems a little bigger next to the stove (which is valuable counter space), and the bathroom is amazing. Thanks for sharing!
You made a great choice for your first RV. We have a 2019 GD Imagine 2600RB, which is our second RV. The one we had before was very nice but there were a few changes we wanted. This RV meets all of our wants and needs. You did a very good job on the walk around showing off the RV. I really enjoyed it and look forward to many more of your videos as you use your new Grand Design.
Bought the same model, makes our 14 year old Forrest River look like a dinosaur, fit and finish, appliances and seating areas far better....bring your trailer in once a year, have it checked out and repaired as necessary. Our old trailer was needing more repairs and rubber seals getting brittle and mouldy, layout was not nearly as nice and much cheaper construction. Wish you the best and happy camping! We love the layout of the Grand Design...
Just to add one other comment after reading some of the others. We have only made two camping trips in ours so far, but we have not had any issues. Everything works perfectly, the fit and finish is great, and I think it is a terrific trailer. The only one I think I might like better would be a Tommy Bahama Airstream, but it would cost three times as much and probably not be as comfortable.
Just bought my Grand Design Imagine 2600RB last week. We really liked the layout and it is a quality travel trailer. Our has the theater seating option with heat and massage just like yours. 29' 8'' total in length. Final cost was under 27k. The 3 men that started this company previously worked at Winnebago.
Nice RV. I would caution you that the hitch ball lock I saw being used can be defeated in seconds with a crowbar. There are much better hitch ball locks that not only protect the coupler but allow you to include the safety chains inside the coupler lock. Even if a thief doesn’t attack the lock currently being used, they can use the safety chains to attach your trailer to their truck and drive off in seconds. You have a substantial investment here, it would be a shame to lose it due to an inadequate coupler lock. Have fun, be safe and happy trails to you.
Awesome review, congratulations on your first RV and thanks for sharing and please keep us posted with how you are you liking it, my wife and I are looking in to buying our own 2600, we love the Grand Design RV's
I do RV orientations for new owners for a dealer that sells Grand Design in Fl. Grand Design quality in my opinion is as good as it gets in the towable market. Good choice. My suggestion if you havent already done so, is to install the wireless rear camera. You have no use of the rear view mirror and its always good to see who is coming up behind you or on your right when changing lanes.
Hey boss. The wife and are are "Soon to be" new RV owners as well. We are opting to go with the little brother, the 2150RB. Essentially same layout only a bit shorter and no dinnet. Rodney Williams asked what was it about the GD that made you decide to go with it. I can tell you from my perspective, having looked at literally hundreds of couples coaches from no less than 15 dealerships, several RV shows, and what I imagine to be nearly all available different "Brands" (tee hee ha ha); that these two GD models in particular, have the best layout for a couples coach that I have yet seen. From a straight up functional perspective, this floor plan just hits it right on the head in my opinion. Everything is where it seems like it naturally should be. And GD also has, again in my opinion, some of the best creature features out of all of the other TT's I have seen. The shoe garage storage area, the large bin area directly above the shoe garage, and the coat hooks along with the motion sensor light. These are all well placed, well thought out features that many other coaches simply don't have, or do not execute as well. And that's just the door entry. The bathroom is, as far as TT's go, superb. The bedroom being walled off from the rest of the TT space for real privacy is superb. And the use of the interior space is also very well executed, and superb. There are many other features of These GD TT's that I personally really like over nearly all other TT's we have looked at, but the primary motivation for going with GD is hands down the floor plan layout. It's Ironic that even other GD models don't execute the floor plans as well as these two models in particular. This floor plan is, maybe not absolutely one of a kind. But it is I can tell you a RARE floor plan after looking at so many TT's. It's looking like the selling price on a 2019 come Nov 2018, is going to be in the 26k range for the 2150RB for us. Nope, they ain't giving them away. But I can also say that in terms of build quality, (which in the RV industry is a relative term to be certain), the GD Imagine series is again among one of the best that I have looked at. That's not say that it's perfect. It's still got cheapness about it just like EVERY OTHER RV. It's just that as cheapness goes in RV's, GD tends to do nearly all things better over all. These are really pretty slick coaches and I can't wait to be out camping come next spring.
@@ShrimpOutdoors we finally pulled the trigger layer January. Made the first payment already. It's in storage ( outside in the elements, grrr, but is the only winter it will be forced to suffer that indignity) at the dealership. Once we hit solid mid 50's, it will be coming home.
Thank you for the tour. That trailer is one that I have considered. What was it about the Grand Design that you decided to go with it? What other trailers were you considering purchasing? What is your tow vehicle?
It was between this one and a rockwood 2606ws. I went this becuase it had the theater seating, and it was cheaper. Both brands are great quality. With the Rockwood they do give you more but of course it all comes with a price. I thought the Imagine 2600RB was a great fit for me. I am pulling it with a 2014 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 with a V8 engine.
I did consider the Rockwood as well. They build their trailers that are a bit more highly appointed than some other brands. They have the four wheel torsion suspension, maple cabinets, Serta bed and the one I saw had a front window cap. There is some other stuff with construction as well. They make a nice product, but it is a little more expensive.
Great RV. I like the floor plan. Unfortunately GD just offers one A/C unit and only a 30 AMP and not a 50 AMP in this floor plan. Have you ran your A/C in upper 90 degree weather? How does just one A/C unit do? Are you able to run the microwave and other electrical appliances without flipping the breaker with just the 30 AMPs? I would consider this RV. Thanks, Have Fun!
I was in a 2670mk with the two AC's couple weeks ago at the dealer. SWFL, August. AC's turned on at 9am. At 11am, it was still in the low 80's inside and very humid. Upper 80's outside. Thats both AC's in flood mode. You will have to manage your expectations. Even with the high insulation ratings, these AC's can only do so much when its 90 degree plus outside and no shade.
Do you mind if I ask what size truck you are pulling it with? My wife and I are considering the exact same trailer and would like to know if you can pull this with a half ton truck.
This is the one we are looking at as well. The change? It looks like the 2019 version does a booth dinette with theatre seating and not the u dinette which is what I like. My question for you, looks like you have 1 child? Does this trailer meet all of your needs when it comes to him? We have 1 son, not planning on other children and he will be very tall. We dont want bunks but want to make sure he has plenty of space too
It is a great fit for us. Yes, It meets all of our needs, it is everything I wanted in a RV. I am very happy it. There is plenty of space for us, no problem. Also, there is plenty of head room as he gets older.
Can you do an overall review on ur grand design 2600 rb travel trailer, i ve tried to find a review by actual owners who have purchased this travelmtrailer and cant find any, looking for an overall review of the mechanical, exterior, interior aswell as a plumbing and electrical, no matter how small it is , even if its a missing screw, i think allot of ppl would appreciate it , since no reviews of any substance can be found on this particupar unit. Thank you
No, but the slide can be opened just enough to access the bedroom. The slide is connected to the battery, so even for dry camping, just hit the slide button and open it enough to slip in.
@@ShrimpOutdoors The one thing I will say about this, is that at least my dealer said that you should ever only fully extend or retract the slide, and never leave it in-between. He sited two reasons. First, he said with the Shwintech slide system, stopping it in the middle can cause the slide to become out of alignment. He said the system can realign itself as a matter of how it works. But that it can't recover from being far out of alignment. I think the more worrisome thing is that the slide is only sealed against weather in the fully out or fully in positions. Anything in-between will allow water into the coach. You might take the chance if you only have to open the slide a foot to get in the bedroom long enough to stow clothing or grab something. But the idea of sleeping in it over night at a Walmart with the slide only partially open, is inviting rain to leak in. At least that's the spiel that my dealer gave me.
The Grand Design Imagine awning is 27 feet, since it spans almost all the way from front to back with exception of that last 2 feet, your trailer is 29 feet long not including the tongue .
I am interested in buying this 2600 or 2500 model. What was the walk out price, if you do not mind answering. Also, i have a half ton pick up similar to yours. How does if feel when you tow your new RV? Any issues or concerns? Thanks again.
We bought the 2600rb in September and took it out twice for long weekends before putting it away for the winter...we got ours for right around 26k...I tow with a nissan titan king cab and it pulls really nice through the mountains of western PA...looking forward to a longer trip this summer
It was about 27K =/- out the door. My truck pulls it with no problem, but you can definalty feel the weight. It was nerve racking at first, but got easier with every trip. There were minor issues that are being addressed, but mostly small. I did have a small leak that the dealer is fixing now. I have not heard where the leak is, because its in the shop now. There is no major damage on the leak, but is being corrected.
I bought the same unit in september... had it out twice for long weekends before winter...everything worked well ... didnt really need AC ...only issue was at dump station on first trip it was a little down hill and the front gray tank wouldnt empty...that drain pipe has very little fall had to jack up the front to get to drain...but that was mostly because of the dump station location.
I bought one this spring as well, exact same trailer. It is littered with issues, the DVD player has randomly a horrible picture and the audio goes out of sync. The underbelly could have been sealed better by a toddler, gaps everywhere that were just inviting pests to enter. The slide out is way out of square. Trailer brakes failed due to improper wiring and poor workmanship. All four corners on the roof needed to be resealed. The lights on the front cap needed to be resealed. The awning track was not installed correctly allowing water to pass between it and the wall. The frame and hitch are rusted to hell, no warranty on the coatings either btw. The blinds were installed by a blind man. The fridge fault light is always dimly illuminated. The A/C is weak and low on charge. I really hope you dont have any of the issues I've had. Their customer service feels great, until it's time to pay. It was better before winnebago bought out grand design. Build a name and sell out, that's was their plan and that is what they are doing. Oh before I forget, the power awning and power jack came from the bad side of China. Good luck my man.
I am happy to take your accounts at face value. To be honest, I am not surprised that there are warranty issues. From my research, to own an RV in America is to have some issues right from the factory. We all just prey that the issues we have are not of the truly monumental in scope. With that said, I am curious to know if you think OTHER RV brands are any better? Because again from my research, it seems that there is NO ONE brand that makes an RV without issues. It seems to me after having looked at hundreds of RV's, that barring any really bad issues, the over all quality you have to work with in GD is better in almost every respect. If you can work though the bugs, what you end up with is a better overall trailer. Again, I stress in the RV market that what constitutes "Better" is a relative term. I defy you to show me a brand of RV that consistently produces headache free products. None exist to my knowledge.
Stan Juan That's due to people with your mindset that allow this poor quality to continue. That's why GD hit it out of the park in the beginning, they were good. Sadly after Winnebago acquired ownership of GD the quality has gone downhill. I work in the transportation industry, if any vehicle had that many issues at that price point people would lose theirs minds! What in your opinion makes it ok to have all these problems on a new unit? What excuses the poor craftmanship? Because the others do it???? So somehow that's makes it better?
slammds15 woh woh woh there pardner. My comment wasn't an attack on you, so its telling that you're so defensive. People like me allow rv manufacturers continue to produce poor quality rv's???? How can you put that in writing and not be embarrassed by how irrational it is. How the heck am I and "People like me " responsible for how the rv trade is in America? What exactly would you have "People like me " do about it genius? I'm just like every other Joe blow American mate. I got the same clout you got, which is to say none at all. If you or I want an rv, than we have only one choice and that's to play the damn game. Or not play at all. The difference between you and I is that I have done a lot more research and I am well aware of how the rv game works. You didn't mention a single problem with your new rv that is uncommon or for that matter terribly hard to rectify. And all of them save a bit of paint should be covered under warranty, though you may be better off putting some pants on and fixing some of it on your own. Your lashing out indicates to me that you in fact didn't research what the rv world is actually like. I bet you went out shopping for rv's like you would a car, and were royally pissed off when reality smacked you in the face. But mate, your not special. Your experience is par for the course. And what's more, there are WAYYYYYYYYY WORSE stories about super BADDDDDDD issues that some new rv owners get stuck with. I am not condoning the shady rv practices that plague the rv world. But I acknowledge the reality and I have made a conscious decision with eyes wide open to play the game. Rv's are not an investment. They are in all cases a money sinkhole. You're never going to recover anywhere near what you put in. But that's not why folks get into rving for. My advice to you is to be nice to your dealer and to GD. Work the bugs out of your rv like everyone else does. And then enjoy it. You're not gonna get very far with bellyaching about how you got taken advantage of. If you piss off the dealer and GD, your gonna find yourself totally holding the bag, and you will still have to deal with the upkeep and repairs just the same.
Stan Juan lmao I did do my research. I've been fixing this junk for almost 20 years now. I am well aware of the issues. People who allow dealerships and companies to get away with what they do is the problem. GD handled my issues in a piss poor manner. Their quality is not as described. It doesn't matter what color you paint a turd, it's just the sparkles that get people. I do like the trailer, the build quality for what they portray is horrible and cheap for the price. When it comes to claims they dismiss and prolong it until customers get fed up, and then boom out of warranty. Have you looked into the heating system and how they heat the "four season" trailer? Have you had the underbelly off yet? I know I won't be camping long with what they consider ok in cold temperatures. One heater duct and plastic foil foil insulation, yep that's great. How about the expandable corrugated ductwork? It over heats the furnace due to lack of flow over the heat exchanger, there is too much flow resistance using that shitty piping. Again, they put out a good pamphlet, but it's far from being what they insinuate. And yes there are better trailers in that price range, but that's a matter of opinion.
Slammds15: Thanks for the input, I was considering a Grand Design TT. I did hear they were great quality and the customer service was awesome. I was afraid once Winnebago bought them it would diminish. Its so hard to find an affordable AND quality TT these days. Back in the late 80's I remember my grandpa had a 1984 28ft Coachmen TT and we went camping across the country every summer several times and had zero issues. Its hard to find ANYONE these days that went camping and had no problems. So that being said I agree with you 100%, people should be up in arms over the poor build quality and customer service with the prices they are charging for these.

There is no major damage on the leak, but is being corrected.
Great review! One question! Can you walk between the bed and the bath with the slide closed?
Can't believe no one answered your question in 6 months. No you can't go in the bedroom with opening the slide. Only needs to go out a little though.
Is it a 4 season rev?
Awesome trailer ! Thats the exact same trailer I am interested in buying, Do you have any regrets ?
So far, no regrets. I have only taken it out on one trip so far. But all seems well so far.
No regrets so far. I'll make more updated review videos as time goes on. So far, so good
I bought the same unit in september... had it out twice for long weekends before winter...everything worked well ... didnt really need AC ...only issue was at dump station on first trip it was a little down hill and the front gray tank wouldnt empty...that drain pipe has very little fall had to jack up the front to get to drain...but that was mostly because of the dump station location.
Take care just be careful
Slammds15:
Thanks for the input, I was considering a Grand Design TT.
So that being said I agree with you 100%, people should be up in arms over the poor build quality and customer service with the prices they are charging for these.
tried to show my wife but the camera set up sucked
