- Building in woodworking tool organizers in the tool chest. As a furniture repair business, we use a few different tools than the average woodworker. This is the first half of our tool organization in this cabinet.
From an aesthetic perspective, I don't like seeing screws when mounting tools. I also want this cabinet to be adjustable when I acquire different tools in the future, so I developed a few ways to mount the tool holders. I hope you enjoy this episode.

I like your clever solution for supporting the chisel and screwdriver shelves without any visible hardware.
Thank you. I appreciate that. Scott
Having your tools to hand is always more efficient and organized to facilitate enjoyable work. I really like how your g reat grandfather's tools are still lovingly being enjoyed by you. About forty plus years ago I attended recreational woodwork evening classes at a local college, and each work benchthere had a tool cupboard similar to yours. I knocked up one for myself at home using pegboard and metal hooks etc for my hand tools which were reposing in a mess in a heavy tool box. I still have it in use, and it's hanging in my current location in its fifth home, having been transferred from Bermuda to Costa Rica fifteen years ago.
That's great. It sounds similar to my first tool cabinet at the start of this video series as mine had a pegboard back too. I just posted a new video showing the installation of saws using rare earth magnets if you're interested. ruclips.net/video/sitQnbYi8lc/видео.html
It was great hearing that many of your tools have family history that is important to you. My dad had lots of tools that I have been restoring and they bring back happy memories of him.
That's nice. Thanks for sharing that Neil. Scott
Great video. Luv hearing the stories behind some of ur tools. Thank u for taking the time to show us novice wood workers.
Thanks for sharing that Shane. I appreciate that. Scott
@Free Speech That sounds interesting. I've never heard of a cigar mold press. Do you have a link to an article about something like that? I like to say "I can make anything out of wood"... maybe this can be a test?!? Scott
Scott, It looks great, my language is Afrikaans (very similar to Dutch) was so nice to hear the word Oupa being used by you.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing that! Scott
The magnetic holder: paint the screws with flat black nail polish. Should easily chip off by pressing a screwdriver in when you want to remove. If not, acetone. Or completely abandon screws and use 3M's VHB tape. Just remember to apply proper pressure to activate it.
Thank you for the tips! I didn't think about painting the screws - that's an easy solution. Smart! Thank you! Scott
Hi just wonder if you can place a couple of magnets underneath the paint scrapers to have their metal tip always secured and not move while opening and closing the doors??
Yes, that sounds possible. I plan on using magnets when I install my Japanese saws on the other door. I should think about doing that. Thanks! Scott
To hide the screws on your magnetic tool holder, wrap it in a 1/32 or thinner veneer.
Thanks for the tip! I’m looking to replace the magnetic strip soon because I’ve had a few tools fall off of it in the past year. Not good when I have a piece of furniture on my workbench
Ope! Other this video and the previous one, showing the spoke shave/draw knife holder, are labeled Part 8. 😳🤣🤷🏻♂️
Thanks for your keen eye! I will fix that now. Scott
By the way do you speak Dutch???
I learned Dutch one year when I was a child, but I don't remember much of it anymore. I can say thanks and good morning... that's about it.
