  • What power tools do you need to start woodworking or to setup your first workshop? It can be difficult to know where to start, so Scott walks you through his recommendation of what tools to buy. This video was inspired by John Malecki's video for must-have tools ( / 2efeb2ftiq ).
Here's a list of power tools to start with:
    - Random Orbital Sander
    - Shop Vacuum with a HEPA filter
    - Drill and countersink pilot hole bit
    - Circular Saw for cutting straight lines
    - Jigsaw for cutting curved lines and circles
If you're setting up your first workshop (an exciting time!), here are the recommended power tools to buy:
    - Miter Saw
    - Table Saw
    - Dust Collector
    - Router
    - Drill Press

Come on SawStop, Scott's workshop deserves a saw, his channels are superb.

Great list. I also purchased a Makita corded multi-tool recently, and it's one of those "How did I survive without this?" tools.

Best advice is to go with corded tools verses battery. As soon as the revised model comes out the model you have is obsolete, and batteries may not be available. the only battery tool I have is a flashlight or drill. I don't have a 5" or 6" orbital sander. Of the portable sanders, I do have 4 detail sanders, 4 belt sanders, 4" and a 1/3 sheet square sander. In the last four years I only used my portable planer three times. Keep the videos coming.

@@HomeImprovementWoodworking What kind of clamps would you recommend for beginners? Maybe a video with the types of clams and which are most useful.

@@Being_Joe My favourite clamps are quick grip clamps, also known as pistol grip clamps. Good idea for a video! Thanks. Scott
