Despite the "don't label me" cliche, people love being able to fit into a discrete category because it gives them a tribe to belong to, a cohesive identity. This is why MBTI is popular in pop culture and Big 5 isn't... People like things black and white, not shades of gray.
The Big 5 isn't popular because it doesn't really teach you much beyond what you already know. Even Big 5 practitioners admit that you're not going to be surprised by your result, but what you can do is compare your result with someone else and with the general population so that you can more easily recognize how you are different from the people you know and from the general population. The Big 5 isn't going to give you insight into how people's mind works (which is what the cognitive function concept developed by Carl Jung do). You assume that all 7 billion people around the world want a tribe to belong to and care about identity, just because you or the people around you are like that. Well, I'm telling you that it's not like that. The people who say "don't label me" and the people don't mind being labeled are not the same people.
@Consumer645 I mean Big 5 doesn't give insight like Carl Jung's coginitive functions. I would agree that there are a lot of peope who need identity who are attracted to the MBTI, but they're not the only ones. Almost all of them (those who need identity) are mistyped from my experience. In my opinion, many who are narcissistic are quickly turned off once they realize that their weakest functions can't be fixed. They can be developed, but they'll never be as developed as those of other types who have it as their strongest functions. In the end, they usually abandon Myers-Briggs saying that "it's limiting" or "a dead end". (At least that's how it is from what I've seen.) I think it's because narcissist don't like the idea of having an inferior function and a blindspot function. I'm not sure about the technical use of Big 5...
@Consumer645 Sorry, but my post disappeared so I'm just going to make a quick reply which may not be entirely accurate. SciShow - Why an Entire Field of Psychology Is in Trouble (ruclips.net/video/2MDNvKXdLEM/видео.html) Veritasium - Is Most Published Research Wrong? (ruclips.net/video/42QuXLucH3Q/видео.html) Sabine Hossenfelder - The Reproducibility Crisis (ruclips.net/video/v778svukrtU/видео.html) Psychology and psychologists are not really in a good position in the scientific community. So your phrase "real psychologists" doesn't really give much credibility. I think that Myers-Briggs aren't really accepted in academia is solely because the two women didn't have degrees in psychology.
Thank you SOOO much for this. This is one of the few videos I could find on the internet critiquing these tests. The amount of churches who use these tests, host workshops, and treat it as gospel are far too many. It seems like I'm not allowed to critically question the method simply because of others' positive anecdotal experiences. I struggle with mental illnesses, and the Enneagram has caused tremendous harm to me.
Thanks Catlin. I’ll confess....the video is targeted to the workplace and MBTI because it’s the most common. But I chose to include Enneagram because I’m still shocked at how willing the American church has been to embrace such a flawed concept and test.
@@DavidBurkus Of course! I totally agree. It really can negatively impact people in the workplace & ruin careers. For as much as I'm told, "Well, just don't abuse the test & use it incorrectly" SO many do. And how can one correctly use it if it's false to begin with? And yes, I agree. There are so many people I personally know who are very influential in the American Church who I'm hoping will listen to those who are critiquing it, & will recognize its harmful potential. It is very misleading & can lead to detrimental consequences for those who suffer with mental illnesses & personality disorders.
You have free my mind. Doing test I was always a hybrid of 2 or 3 personality descriptions, but they claim that I cannot be more than 1 so trying to find the correct one was a nightmare. It was like try accommodating my personality to the description. It’s a horrible thing to do. But I was able to eliminate wrong characteristics about myself base on my results.
I recently went down the road of figuring out my Myers-Briggs and enneagram... I couldn't for the life of me; figure out my enneagram. I do see myself in the ISFP, but I'm not artsy and some other things. What I take from all of it. As a Christian; I solely find my identity in Christ alone. One thing I can take from the experience is; to communicate better with the people around and build a better relationship with everyone. We are all UNIQUELY created, non of us are exactly the same.
Finally someone who is telling the truth. I feel confused why somany are fan of MBTI, while to me it is bullshit. I personally believe that people want to believe it to be true, so they believe it works amazingly anyway.
Thanks Robert. The descriptions of various types are worded VERY well to capture the Barnum Effect. And I think people really want to believe it's easy to categorize people.
I've done MBTI at some point for fun and got INFP. I did DISC as part of learning how to work with my team and I got Di. I think people tend to see them both as opposites 🤣 I've always thought that personality types were really unreliable but fun and interesting. Not really something scientific but could provide talking points and ways to jump off to actually get to understand people better with real conversation. I've also done a Big 5 test. With each of those big 5 actually being split up into sub elements. I'm low agreeableness for example but that's broken into high compassion and low politeness. The problem with even the big 5 test that I have done is that it is all self reporting. You certainly can manipulate that consciously or unconsciously. Mood may affect some things too. I think some people would report more what they want to do/say/be like compared to how they actually act often. Of that makes a difference I don't know.
Yeah. That's a problem with just about every self-report measure. However, more robust versions of the big 5 include a few "tricks" to make the test harder to game.
Thanks for sharing. I once worked with a group who used the MBTI. I walked into the office and on the wall names with their "types" were proudly posted for all to see! And, I would hear comments like, "Oh, you're a INTJ ... that explains it!" At best the more researched and valid/reliable assessments looking at "type" (not personality) may provide some clues regarding how team members relate with each other but the problem I've seen is that assessments are viewed as "gospel" and to when they "discover the hammer the whole world becomes a nail" (to paraphrase Maslow). Additional problems (in my opinion) center on some of these "measures" being available for free on some websites so they can be used by untrained individuals. The good news is that as far as I know none of those mentioned are EEOC approved for selection (at least I hope they are not!). Thanks again.
Divination. I ask for 'Religious Exempt form' When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you.
Actually I gained a lot of understanding for myself and my parents (which helped a lot in my healing process) through enneagram and mbti.. it somehow saved my marriage because i was able to understand the differences in cognitive functions and motivations between me and my husband.. suddenly, things are not too personal anymore.. i was also able to narrow down on my blind-spots which enabled me to move forward in life.. maybe typing others is not the best avenue to use these tests, but if someone has an interest in self-improvement and is ready to be honest with themselves, then these tests are a very helpful tool.
I’m glad to hear your marriage is improved because of an understanding of differences. The point of the video, however, is that there are better assessments out there that speak of differences in more meaningful, less made up, ways. So keep going on your journey and move towards tests that are scientifically valid.
You make some good points in some areas. I have used the DISC assessment and it has helped me massively, so for I cannot call it useless. People are entitled to their opinion and I respect yours Professor.
LOL. I've found that folks in HR are pretty evenly split on these tests. It really comes down to whether or not they studied psychology before getting into HR. ; )
I understand your points because personality cant just fit into one category, for e.g. 1 person into A category while 2nd person get into B category, but they have a lot of similar personalities and get along well. It is like 1 person has chili, tomatoes, banana, orange, apple. the other has tomatoes, guava, grape, durian and mango, but both of them are generally having different fruits but with very very similar personality. For e.g. guava is INTP, but grape is 4 temperaments such as choleric and melancholic, then added with enneagram, DISC, big fives etc. etc. The only way to truly understand a person's personality is to have him to confess all of his personalities that he knows, and to have other people to confess what they think about him, plus having psychologist to describe his personality. Once you gather all of the fruits, you somehow see a bigger picture but there's no such a thing called fit into categories.
Ha! Love it David! (Or should I say "Dr. Burkus"?!) Peoples' job prospects, bonuses, hopes, dreams and aspirations are built on these. (But then, I'm an INFJ Scorpio, so I would say that, wouldn't I?) Best wishes, H
Thank you! My therapist keeps trying to get me to dive into enneagram to “fix” myself. Yes, I’m a type 1. But I’m also every other type to a certain extent. I don’t see how putting people into buckets is at all helpful, especially when every podcast, video, etc about type “1’s” is so negative. I think I need a new therapist 😊
I’m an organizational psychologist by training, not a therapist. So I can’t tell you what to do. I CAN tell you what I would do if my therapist ever recommended Enneagram: I’d run.
Yes, these inventories can be misused, overused and poorly administered. You have painted with a broad brush here, David. Not all are useless. They should never be used to make hiring decisions. Yes, there is an enormous amount of crud in "personality testing."
The title may be hyperbole. But I think the video did a decent explaining that we’re talking about assessments that specifically place you into categories or “types” as opposed to those which use scales. Of course, even some that use scales are useless as well.
Time and time again these things have been shown to be bunk, it's on the same level as astrological charts, let's do those to gauge your employment prospects, be just as empirical
This video is 2 years ago but still relevant until today, I've struggled with the friendship i have with my online friend i met in an online programme during covid. We talked and shared a LOT and suddenly she said that our relationship was toxic. Later then i realised what she said was based on a DISC test she learnt at school brought up by god knows who the motivational speaker was. I'm definitely mad and angry at her for believing that stupid DISC test because i firmly believe that NONE of the personality tests in the world is real and accurate. We're having conflicts now and ngl it was getting worse. I really am praying that things will go back to where they were used to someday soon.
Sorry that happened to you. I wouldn't go so far as to say no personality is real. I am a big fan of the "big five" model of personality we discuss in the video...it's been studied enough to have faith in it. But NO ONE studying it believes it's the end-all be-all for describing someone. And NONE would use it to determine friendships or other people decisions like hiring.
@@DavidBurkus may i ask, does this DISC personality traits have something to do with friendship compatibility? My friend said we both have the same traits according to it and it requires some 'special skills' in order to maintain that friendship. What do you think?
I've not seen is used that way. Typically, it's used as a workplace behavior tool. Even if it were, YOU haven't taken the DISC assessment (and I suspect neither has she)...so she can't say for sure where either of you score.
LOL. Honestly only the ones who lacked sufficient training in HR. Solid HR folks know these tests are good for generating some discussion about differences and not much more.
A boss I had, once gave me a sheet of paper with 4 questions (with alternatives) to answer, and after I did, she told me I was a type 7 of the enneagram. Her daughter was next to my and literally read the personality description on a random Google website. She was a lawyer, nothing related to psychology and she did that all by herself in such a lazy way... Oh, and i got fired one week later
I like to learn and laugh at the same time. Thanks for this! ... Curious what you think of strengths assessments. I have frequently recommended Marcus Buckingham's StandOut 2.0 assessment and think it's helpful. ... Also, I think one of the reasons for team conflict is people don't have the self-awareness to recognize and work on what triggers them. Thanks again Dr. B.!
LOL. Thanks! StrengthsFinder is an interesting one. I wouldn’t call it a personality test. But if is also based on 34 different scales/dimensions. Your “top five” isn’t a type but just the scales you scored highest on. That said, I don’t think there’s ALL that much utility for that or StandOut beyond “feel good” chit-chats. I much prefer a method Buckingham advocated for in two of his books: study yourself as you go through out the day and find the activities that drain you....then find ways to stop doing them as often.
@@DavidBurkus Indeed. I have often asked people to become good observers of themselves - what energizes you, what drains you and yes - do more of what energizes you. ... Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Appreciating your videos.
A few years ago I had my suspicions that this was bullocks, finally got around today to looking into it and seeing many professionals pick it apart has validated my intuition
The ones that sort people into "types" are probably more similar to horoscopes than they are different. But there are ones that are vastly different and quite useful.
Truth hurts man, people just like to put themselves in the categories but putting people in the categories can cause so many mental issues for example you can make yourself fit into the box, these personality tests come up with if you are good at one thing you will be bad at another and people put these ideas forward which is just bad for you, you shouldn't put yourself in the pseudo-scientific box.
Precisely. Too often this labeling tests become self-fulfilling prophesy or get used as an excuse for behavior that probably should change. “I’m not lazy…I’m just a 3.”
@@EddieJrDigiarts And a great way to do that is to use assessments that plot personality along a spectrum or dimension instead of in a box such as the Big Five -- which comes with the added bonus of being psychometrically valid as well.
And yet…we do it with different names. Funny enough there is a test that (for entertainment purposes) use the Big Five personality assessment to sort you into a Hogwarts House.
Great job looking out for the people and educating us David! What are your thoughts on Robert Townsend’s work Further Up The Organization? If you have read it. If not, no prob. Thanks in advance.
For like a year I’ve been in this slump of feeling like I was only what the infp description said I was but when you brought out the Fortune cookie it just hit me that all of the mbti description are so generic and really don’t matter at all so thank you
My pleasure Melody. Happy to help. I would also recommend Benjamin Hardy’s new book “personality isn’t permanent.” It doesn’t matter what a test says you are....it matters who you want to become.
@@DavidBurkus Thank you! And I found that I got somewhat different results at different test times.Traits also get expressed in very different ways. F ex a burglar and a doctor can use their trait conscientiousness for evil or for good ends. Not speaking of how health states influence test outcome. In sleep deprivation or depression one sees oneself all negative, which will show in the answers. Maybe think about distinguishing between serious and junk magazine astrology... Huge difference.
@@DavidBurkus : The magazine phony astrology doesn't take 3 years of higher education to do. How many books on A. have you read or even just looked in? We sometimes too easily reject things we don't know.
I’m actually a big fan of Hogan’s methodology. More recently they’ve attempted to use existing tests to “type” people...which I’m not a fan of. Gallup’s StrengthsFinder is technically a scale-based assessment. You get scores for each of the 20+ “strengths” categories. They just emphasize your Top 5. That said, I’m a bigger fan of the UPenn Character Strengths and Virtues assessments than I am StrengthsFinder.
Mbti is my guilty pleasure. I don't really believe in it but I think it's fun. We did the DISC test at work and it just seems so stupid xD I know someone who did MBTI at their job, that's even dumber 🤣
“Fun” is fine. And to some extent what it was invented for....before folks realized just how much money they could make selling it as more important than fun.
I had to do the DiSC test when I applied for my current position. I had never about it before but immediately it seemed suspicious to me. I researched it a little bit and I realized quite quickly it's complete garbage, pseudoscience. Still I did the test but I never heard anything about it after that so I don't think they take it too seriously (which they did admit at one point) but I question why I had to do it in the first place since it doesn't tell you anything. I'm still working there several years later so I'm all right. It's interesting to hear that it was designed by the same guy that invented the useless polygraph.
Lighting in this video is good. Too good. It looks like you have a green screen behind you now displaying a fake kitchen. I’d recommend getting a nice grey background to maximize the use of those lights, seems like you have plenty of room for one lol. Just some constructive criticism. Good video.
Thanks. This was the first time using an iPhone instead of a DSLR and it wasn’t all that successful because of the lack of bokeh. I film most of my new episodes against a simple background now....but that had more to do with my kids being stuck at home all day with me so I can’t film all around the house anymore.
The DSM-5 is a taxonomy of psychiatric disorders….many, if not all, of which vary in intensity between patients. So…that would make psychiatric disorders also conform to the idea that there are no personality types, only personality dimensions….which is the main thesis of this video.
Not useless , as a therapist I will use myers briggs and others to enable some introspection, as a start to a self awareness process. Particularly it throws up disagreement of type and encourages discussion.... but then plastic farm animals or a jar of odd buttons can do the same.
@@DavidBurkus I wouldn't dream of calling it anything. Unless the client got something from it. Then I would call it helpful. When you are dealing with a middle aged lorry driver with no experience of self reflection but comes to a session with " who am I?" Questions, it doesn't really matter what tools I use if it helps them to see themselves with a little perspective.
But it does. You could use valid tools like the big five assessment to get the same resulting introspection but based on an actually accurate picture of a clients personality.

yeah i came to the realization recently that the enneagram is garbage. it’s the barnum effect cleverly not described as the barnum effect. if the metatron thing is true that invalidates it even further. i saw a podcaster advocate for it betore - (enneagram) she had a phd in psychology so i thought it was a credible system, but it seems far too formulaic and generalized now that i understand the system more. same thing with mbti. it is comforting to have archetypes to describe people, but we risk taking the nuances out of assessment when using these systems. with the enneagram, if you have a certain “core wound”, it means you grow into this certain archetype - but that’s not how people work in real life - two people can experience the same trauma and it manifests differently, but the enneagram doesn’t account for that. then you add tritype / wings / lines / instincts and it becomes even more generalized statements & barnum effect-like. i used to wish there were more enneagram counselors but now i would mark it as a red flag as you said too and stay away. they should know how to assess for personalities and traumas without the need to rely on bs systems made by nonprofessionals
it was sp 2 / so 4 / sp 6 / so 9 descriptions that made me realize its the barnum effect in place, they are the same generalized statements repeated, but disguised as not since they fall under different archetypes. but you can find rationalizations to fit into any of these 4 since they are blanket statements. i fit all 4 of these descriptors edit: forgot sp 6 lol
Thank you! I work somewhere that forces us to take different personality tests every few years. For one, I really hate taking these tests, they’re just way too long! And they’re complete bs. Every single one of them. I took 3 different enneagram tests and every single one was inconclusive. And they each just told me to pick a type ‘cause they didn’t know. Real scientific!
Fingerprints, Breathylisers, Speed radar, Freud, Atkin's, even DNA has been shown to be build on false assertions, seems we as a society need a psychological crutch to give us context, where in fact none exists, much to our own detriment
I think a lot of these can be explained by not teaching statistics in high school. Much of the con of personality tests persists because people don't know enough to scrutinize....but they don't actually need to know that might about how statistics work.
If you said most companies are giving the tests then where is she going to find a job? And are you saying the big 5 is a slightly acceptable test? I think the DISC is very helpful as there are 41 blends when you take the assessment and they teach how to raise your lower traits when needed. We need some starting point even if they aren't as studied as you would like. What do you teach for understanding temperaments of people?
Thanks Ashley. Most companies are using them in some capacity. Thankfully, most are not using them in employment interviews. My preference is to utilize the "big five" or to use something like UPenn's "Character Strengths and Virtues" assessment to discuss individual differences, preferences, temperaments, and strengths. Hope that helps!
@@DavidBurkus Yes, the tests are flawed; the types are not, because it’s self-assessment, and one wrong answer will mess everything up. We believe we did use logic and explained the fundamental flaws in the MBTI's development and usage, as well as discussed better alternatives in these comments for open minded people to learn more.
To discredit these theories with a narrow, shallow view of their creators and to say the people who benefit from them are being fooled just shows your own ignorance.
Watch the video again without your bias. These tests attempt to sell themselves based on appeals to authority and a rigorous scientific basis. So it is necessary then to cover both the lack of psychological knowledge of the creators and the ways these tests differ from the established psychological science. That’s why we did both.
1) I have never once heard anyone giving these tests insist that they are clear cut indicators of who you are. Rather, they are almost always explained as informative indicators that can show you where your strengths and weaknesses may lie. 2) Psychologists have worked extensively in the development of most of them and often use them, not as a diagnostic tool but for the purpose outlined above. Claiming it isn't taken seriously or that there isn't real science behind it is simply false. 3) You cherry-picked all of your origins. The tests you described have multifaceted origins as they were built upon by many different people. You picked out the most embarrassing people who were involved and only talked about them, regardless of how little their work even impacted the development. You then passed it off as exclusively the work of embarrassing people. 4) Just because a lot of people use a tool poorly or for the wrong purpose does not mean it is not useful when it is used properly and for the right purpose. These tests are a tool. They are not intended to be used as the only solution to every problem. Yes, these tests are often sold as being more than they are supposed to be and doing more than they are supposed to do. That doesn't make them useless. It just means they should be used in the intended manner for the intended purpose. 5) Plenty of problems in the workplace stem from different personalities having friction that is resolvable and/or avoidable. Plenty of problems in the workplace stem from systemic problems that are resolved by systemic means. Fun fact: said system is largely made up of (*gasp*) different people with different personalities. If you focus solely on the systematic, you will have problems. If you focus solely on personalities and use them as a scapegoat for poor systems, you will have problems. It's both. I myself have found the DISC test to be pretty informative on how to allow people to thrive best on a team by allowing them to do what they do best and what comes naturally to them as much as possible. It also helps to identify where friction comes from and how it can be easily sidestepped. I agree it shouldn't be used for the purpose of hiring. It can however be a useful tool for identifying sources of conflict and how people can best work with each other in various roles.
"Most of the conflict in your organization comes from really vague descriptions of roles and responsibilities, diminished resources, really poor communication around timelines and expectations." Those personality systems are so confusing because you have to try to fit into one label and that's just not realistic.
Precisely. Personalities are too complex to be measure with labels...whether it’s 4, 16, or 1,000+
Despite the "don't label me" cliche, people love being able to fit into a discrete category because it gives them a tribe to belong to, a cohesive identity. This is why MBTI is popular in pop culture and Big 5 isn't... People like things black and white, not shades of gray.
And yet humans are technicolor wonders.
Thanks so much!
@Consumer645 Man, I wrote another longer reply but it disappeared... Sigh...
@Consumer645 Sorry, but my post disappeared so I'm just going to make a quick reply which may not be entirely accurate.

Psychology and psychologists are not really in a good position in the scientific community.
Yep. There's no need to force your personality into arbitrary boxes created by someone else.
Precisely. And that's why the best personality assessment grade on a spectrum instead of labelling by type. Thanks Jess!
I think people tend to see them both as opposites 🤣
I've always thought that personality types were really unreliable but fun and interesting.
Thanks Ed!
Yes. But sadly many folks sneak them into hiring processes anyway. I always tell folks who do “you’re flirting with a lawsuit.”
Also...a wall with everyone name and MBTI posted on it sounds like my nightmare.
I took the myers brigg bs test and the questions were so vague that I didn’t even know how to answer them.
And the results are even more vague.

When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there.

Anyone who disliked this video who is NOT working in HR?
LOL. I've found that folks in HR are pretty evenly split on these tests. It really comes down to whether or not they studied psychology before getting into HR. ; )
@@DavidBurkus LOL you're right!
Well said.
I love this metaphor because of how inherently confusing (and queer coded) it is.

Hi. Maybe you can talk about importance of emotions at work? Would love to hear topics regarding that! Just a suggestion.

Her daughter was next to my and literally read the personality description on a random Google website. She was a lawyer, nothing related to psychology and she did that all by herself in such a lazy way...
Oh, and i got fired one week later
And elsewhere in the comments people tried to claim no one is using these tests this irresponsibly. Geez.
What every enneagram 7 says
My enneagram is Infinity....so is everyone else's.

Personality tests make me think of horoscopes.
They're very very different

Mbti is my guilty pleasure. I don't really believe in it but I think it's fun. We did the DISC test at work and it just seems so stupid xD
I know someone who did MBTI at their job, that's even dumber 🤣
“Fun” is fine. And to some extent what it was invented for....before folks realized just how much money they could make selling it as more important than fun.

I had to do the DiSC test when I applied for my current position. I had never about it before but immediately it seemed suspicious to me. I researched it a little bit and I realized quite quickly it's complete garbage, pseudoscience. Still I did the test but I never heard anything about it after that so I don't think they take it too seriously (which they did admit at one point) but I question why I had to do it in the first place since it doesn't tell you anything. I'm still working there several years later so I'm all right.

What about the DSM 5? And if you do then believe in personality disorders, can you not find the correlation 'twixt typing systems?
The DSM-5 is a taxonomy of psychiatric disorders….many, if not all, of which vary in intensity between patients. So…that would make psychiatric disorders also conform to the idea that there are no personality types, only personality dimensions….which is the main thesis of this video.
Not useless , as a therapist I will use myers briggs and others to enable some introspection, as a start to a self awareness process. Particularly it throws up disagreement of type and encourages discussion.... but then plastic farm animals or a jar of odd buttons can do the same.
What do you call discussion and disagreement about types that bear no resemblance to reality? I would call that useless.
@@DavidBurkus I wouldn't dream of calling it anything. Unless the client got something from it. Then I would call it helpful. yeah i came to the realization recently that the enneagram is garbage. it’s the barnum effect cleverly not described as the barnum effect. if the metatron thing is true that invalidates it even further. i saw a podcaster advocate for it betore - (enneagram) she had a phd in psychology so i thought it was a credible system, but it seems far too formulaic and generalized now that i understand the system more. same thing with mbti. it is comforting to have archetypes to describe people, but we risk taking the nuances out of assessment when using these systems. with the enneagram, if you have a certain “core wound”, it means you grow into this certain archetype - but that’s not how people work in real life - two people can experience the same trauma and it manifests differently, but the enneagram doesn’t account for that. then you add tritype / wings / lines / instincts and it becomes even more generalized statements & barnum effect-like. i used to wish there were more enneagram counselors but now i would mark it as a red flag as you said too and stay away. they should know how to assess for personalities and traumas without the need to rely on bs systems made by nonprofessionals
it was sp 2 / so 4 / sp 6 / so 9 descriptions that made me realize its the barnum effect in place, they are the same generalized statements repeated, but disguised as not since they fall under different archetypes. but you can find rationalizations to fit into any of these 4 since they are blanket statements. i fit all 4 of these descriptors
edit: forgot sp 6 lol
Well said.
Thank you! I work somewhere that forces us to take different personality tests every few years. For one, I really hate taking these tests, they’re just way too long! And they’re complete bs.
@@the_tax_consultantyou can say that again
It is fairly clear very early in the video which personality tests are being labelling as useless and which ones are not.
