Oh wow you made some great useable pieces out of those! Definitely a Utica, some of them were just print stamped and would easily come off with any sanding or buffing but still great knives. Those old Henkels knives have good value.
If you look at 10:16 frame you will see writing on the blade of the knife you think might be a Sportsman. Get some light at the correct angel and see what it says.
Well, here i go again. For a short time i got into making knives, until i found that by the time id smoothed them into what i wanted id used so much material in polishing and spent so much time that it wasnt practical to sell them. I sold a few but felt embarrassed by the prices i had to charge, and at that, i still wasnt making anything on time spent. Point is I quit. But i did find out that 2 ton epoxy is good stuff, but not the best. If a knife is left out in direct sun the epoxy will turn to syrup and the handles will loosen. Not so JB Weld. It will stand both heat, cold and wet, and i believe it will still be holding the handle long after the steel is long used up.
Great job on those knives!
Glad you like them!
Thanks for sharing
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it!

I love the western knives
My brother had a large buck knife from his time in Vietnam. A friend of his carved a racing helmet from the end of the grip.

Just curious what model is stamped on the back side of the tang on your dad's knife
Nothing stamped on other side, always wondered about the model of it.
Another viewer told me it’s probably a shark knife, military issue, makes sense as he was in the Navy.
Put up a good photo of the W39 stamp and I can probably give you some info on it
Thanks, I need to get better at taking pictures, much better than video to see them!
