This popped up on my recommended for some reason. I didn’t realize how much athleticism is involved in table tennis. Constant squatting and jumping - I have a new respect for pro table tennis players!
The turning point was Waldner inventing the serve grip and Schlager who started using the reverse pendulum. After that there's hardly any evolution other than players serving from middle.

Enjoyed the video. I got to watch Marty Reisman play in person about 14 years ago. It was a real treat.

It’s not just the pro players you should respect, the game is hard at all levels if you strive to improve.
should have Mima Ito's hook serve :)
yeah, some special ones were missing.. ^^
1:50, this ace is awesome 😶
ye but shouldnt u serve on the opposing side of the table?
i mean from right to left
@@grabasz6737 only if it’s doubles, singles can be anywhere
Nice video. Seems like in the 90's, one player came up with a new technique and then everyone started using it?
Surely Waldner in 1990s would have been competitive in current top level still.
Самсонов♥️
Samsonov♥️
Waldner genius
Прикольно, раніше подачі були кращі...
What was TT doing in 60s?
ding ning and mima ito serves ?
Нравится история настольного тенниса
Nice.
Раньше был пинг-понг, он и сейчас есть. Настольный теннис это другое.
The old people just be an expert at receiving illegal servers 😂
ma long is ping pong god
It was all American but then China stepped in
Modern "professional" table tennis serves are still awkward and weak looking.
