Another high quality review! 👌 I love LG monitors. Bought the LG Ergo 32UN880 because of your review of it. This 40 inch looks really good for video editing. Love the real estate ⚡️
Tad over priced. Unfortunately because of oled/qd oled. I wouldn't touch another ips, VA or anything. The size and ultrawide is nice and so is the curve. 72 htz. Nah. Compromised imo
A gaming variant of this with MiniLED or even QD-OLED with atleast 120hz would be my absolute endgame monitor. Not too wide like the Super Ultrawides; taller than a normal 34" Ultrawide, has that crisp 2160 sharpness and still maintains the 21: 9 aspect ratio that's now supported by almost everything except really old titles (nothing some tweaking or unofficial patches cant fix) and a tiny handful competitive FPS titles. It would also line up perfectly with new GPU's coming out that would be able to better support gaming at what is essentially above 4k. I just know LG has something in the wings but will probably arrive maybe late this year or Q1 next year after all the major ones have launched; just like they did with the LG 38" Productivity models followed by the 38" Ultragear ones and then Alienware, Acer etc followed with their own 38" monitors.
I would absolutely love that. 120hz should be enough for me since I don't really play competitive FPS games anymore. Being a 5k monitor, I probably won't be able to get my framerates much higher than 120 at max settings anyway.
haha thanks, I'm not trying to sell, just giving my honest review on something I'm using (if you buy that's awesome too). But thanks for the support man!
@@iHaveTheDocuments I know, but i didnt think i would ever want this and now i do. only problem is convincing my parents to get a tv they wont appreciate because thy are not superior bigbrain
I'm keeping my 38" version because it has the IPS 1ms (GtG) Response Time and 144Hz Refresh Rate. I wish this monitor had the same because I would upgrade in a heartbeat. Maybe LG will release a 40" version with the same specs soon.
Same. I have the 38WN95C-W and I can’t give up the 144hz panel . Great for gaming ( I use a 3080 FE ). I have 3 computers hooked up to this display (Mac Mini on HDMI, my work MacBook Pro via thunderbolt and gaming pc via DisplayPort) I have the same keyboard & mouse setup same as spawnpoiint mx master keys and it’s so convenient to switch between either of the 3 devices.
If they made basically the gaming version of 40WP95C with 144fps, OLED panel and more newest inputs, then I would switch from my current LG 34 ultrawide to that one.
I believe this is the ideal size/ resolution for productivity and gaming, beyond this you start to get diminishing returns. What we need next is an OLED version with high refresh rate and a graphic card that can get a descent frame rates at such resolution.
I have a really nice 27" LG monitor but this would be a hell of an upgrade. Great video. Love the way you get to the point and provide thoughtful information.
I watch a ton of review videos and I've got to say that you do a great job. Very informative, relaxing and you make things easy to understand. Thanks so much!
My only gripe which many ordinary people don’t care about is an optical/ARC/eARC output on these luxury monitors. I want to be able to connect an 3.1/5.1/7.1/ATMOS sound bar system.
Nice Ultrawide :-) I didn't expect a this enjoying video ' reading the title' mentioning ' unboxing'. You do speak mostly about the monitor benefits itself. I am planning to buy this monitor and your video helped making this decision.
Been here since you had 20k subs the man always reviews any LG monitor products i request. Every time LG announces new monitors im like i’m a wait for SpawnPoints video ;)
This is something I wish LG would enable on this monitor: have an option to keep audio playing on monitor speakers while headphones are plugged in. That way I can connect the headphone out to a subwoofer that I would keep under my desk. Ideally they would have a dedicated sub out or support for wireless Sub but It seems no manufacture will do that as they want to sell their sound bars instead.
Nice ultrawide! My Acer x34 is going strong at 34" and 100Hz. But I am planning on using a LG C2 42" next to it when I make my new study with a long desk.
I have the 34 inch 5k2k ultra wide and find the macOS scaling annoying. When connected to my personal MacBook pro m1 pro I get around 1600p, which is acceptable. However on my work laptop which is a MacBook pro m1 I only get around 1200p, which is extremely frustrating as things are just too big.
Hello. In comparison to 38 -> How about text size in most apps on 5k2k. Do you usually have to zoom in, or scale ? Is the text microscopic unless you find a way to zoom in ?
I'm on my second unit with this monitor so far and I think I have the worst luck. Both of them so far has white uniformity issue. I can see like 3 different shades of white when I'm viewing content with white background. Not sure if I should return the second unit too or just stick with it.
This monitor looks awesome. The input PiP is what I wanted from the LG C2 42” tv. Since there wasn’t an option, I end up returning it. Since the tv was already too big for my setup.
@@grahamkelly8662 PIP = Picture in Picture. Example: This feature will allow to connect your PS5 and Xbox to the tv and used them at the same time. The C2 doesn’t support it. I am considering the 38 inch version with 144hz (38WN95C-W), its hard to know if this 5k 2k res works well with macs or the lower res of 3840 x 1600, as I really don't want tiny icons/texts etc. So far Ive not found anyone doing this comparison. My main use would be for productivity.
I've the same issue. I also accessional play on the PS5. The 38WN95C-W is currently my number one to buy, is this 40" version the upgrade for the 38 one?
@@WernerKellens I think I saw one review of this 40inch, but the guy Actualy said they turned down the res on Mac so they can see the fonts better as it was too small. Which defeats the whole point of getting a 5k2k monitor. It’s the shame the hdmi is not 2.1 so PlayStation can display hdr games. Although I am wondering if thunderbolt to hdmi connector might solve this.
This looks like a proper nice ultrawide productivity screen, would be great to do some Autocad work on this. A bit pricey but feature rich and justifiable as a tool for a work environment. Nice first impressions video
Good (but not great) monitor . Low refresh rate and COMPLETE ABSENCE OF AUTOMATIC VIDEO SOURCE SWITCHING which is completely nuts. The latter is a complete deal breaker for me as I use multiple laptops as well as a desktop. I stayed with my 38" 3840x1600 (38GN950) in the end - that works really well in practice and has auto video source switching.
I bought the slightly older 5k2k flat model, and I think i made the right choice. this version doesn't have the thunderbolt passthrough, but it's the same resolution, and doesn't have an LG logo at the bottom of the display, and the bottom bezel is actually just ever so slightly larger, giving the perception of an equal bezel all the way around. After having a curved tv for a few years now, I think i prefer the panel being flat. Getting this version for $600 didn't suck either 🤣
This one with OLED and 175 Hz like the Alienware AW3423DW and I'll never need another monitor in my life (currently have the LG 38" UW you had before).
I just looked it up. It's only 300 nits, so that is not bright enough for HDR. The new Apple studio display is 600 nits and is 5k but not ultra wide of course.
Nice ultra wide! Great video, I've been thinking about getting an ultra wide as I'd like more screen real estate for my work but my work laptop only has 1 display port so I am limited to a single monitor!
I see one downside. It's $2500 CDN. I can literally buy a 65" LG C1 TV and still have a couple hundred to spare. These IPS monitor prices are absurd and I see QD OLED wiping the floor with all of them in a matter of 1-2 years.
