After reading a few negative comments about the hawk, I need to tell you that even if this channel is mainly about squirrels, we love and appreciate ALL animals! They all have an important role in nature, and they all need food and love. 🦅🐿️❤️
All negative comments will be deleted.
I made a Hawk Friend that was very dear to me when I was homeless! After I got a home in its territory, it would visit my backyard! 😁 I had Owl friends too and we'd have Hooting Sessions! 🤣🤣 Those Owls would follow me around to keep me safe and scare off anyone I felt threatened by! There's a story about it on my RUclips.
Very well said
I understand but I have been traumatized a few months ago. What happened is that my squirrels were just eating suddenly a huge hawk came my squirrels managed to escape except for one she was little and was hurt on her leg so she couldn't run fast enough. Unfortunately the hawk got her😢her name was Annie. So that is why I am not a big fan of hawks but this little guy you showed seemed nice:)
Amen, & Amen. :) God's creatures they are. :)
@@saimai.915 & he was too small to get full grown squirrels. :)
I had a red tail Hawk a few years ago that had been blown in a wind storm into a tree. I was supervised by a licensed wildlife rehabilitator with his care. I bought him 🥩 from the grocery store. He like me to hold & carry him under my arm like a football. I always felt so honored because I was the only one he allowed to do that. He would not stay in his crate in my suv either, he would get out and get on my shoulder, peering down to look through the windshield. His massive talons, were so scary, yet I never once had him hurt me & I never had to wear the gloves. Once he recouped, he was ready to go…never had a moment of sadness & happiness all at once like that day. For several months after he would pop up & fly over my truck & follow, the last time I saw him, he was with a mate. That whole experience was the biggest honor of my life. ❤
Poignant happiness.
I have chills!
Good for you!!
Amazing
I love the "gimme, gimme" wave.
That was really cute!
@@eileensorensen2414 Totally 💯! 😊
Yeah, looks so enthusiastic and adorable 😄
Awwwww, that's the perfect name for sweet Minnie's wave, hehe! 🥰
We have no time for negative remarks, esp if they are unfounded. If anyone has nothing good to say, just do keep quiet. We currently live in a world that is full of unhappiness, anger and hunger, any help we can give to people and animals are especially welcome. So please be kind with your words and thoughts. Ms Squirrels at the window is doing a fantastic job. She doesnt have to but the kindness of her heart and the generous energy of her thoughts mades our world a better place to live and survive in. Thank you and GOD Bless.
Thank you, God bless you too 😊❤️🙏
Minnie: 'Throw it-throw it-throw it-throw it!!' 😅🐿🥰
And she never catches it! 😂 She is absolutely adorable. 😍
Okay. Minnie has to be one of my favorites. The waving for you to throw the nut is absolutely adorable.
Amazing to see the hawk and squirrels coexist.... We have the bigger hawks where we live and I'm always on the lookout when I feed the furries. Bless them all!
My crow friends often chase hawks away. They know the peanuts came after we made friends with the squirrels.
I’m thankful for my backyard crows keeping a pesky cooper hawk away from the birds. Even my squirrels don’t care for this particular hawk too much. The blue jays and crows make a good security team..they are protective of the smaller birds and the squirrels. And if they aren’t around, and the hawk does visit..the squirrels do an amazing job of squawking and warning the other birds and squirrels of the hawk…this then alerts the jays who alert the crows (who are never very far and usually keeping and eye on my yard but they look after a certain radius…. The crows will circle the yard and gather other birds (usually jays and grackles) and chase the hawk away. It’s something to see….And no..crows won’t attack the small birds if you leave out treats for them. Peanuts, other nuts, cheese pieces, some berries, bread, even carrots. I make sure every one is well fed back there lol… lots of nuts, seeds, fruits, for all! ❤
Also…I know hawks need to eat and survive as well but I just wish they eat nuts seeds plants and bugs like the rest of ‘‘em lol. I also don’t want to see him attack the birds and wildlife in my yard….go to the forests (which also makes me sad for those sweet birds as well …ugh ….the complexity of nature and our ecosystem )
@Jaclyn1986 yeah when our friends eat our friends... it's never personal though. But yeah, don't want to see the carnivorous activities!
@@Angelenowithacamera I have crows who chase the hawk away too. At first I was like yes but now I learned he's mostly just hanging out and I really don't want him to be chased by crows.🌼🐿
Maybe that's why I never see hawks in my area, there are tons of crows. They're incredibly intelligent.
@@sahamal_savuthey really are!
Im glad the hawk wasnt after the squirrels. U keep a good lookout for them and watch over them being a good squirrel mom. Minnie was super cute on top of the bushes reaching out for a nut.
Hi I miss Cutie. I am soo sad about her. I love Cuttie and today I saw her daughter Minnie on the bushes as you gave her a nut. She stood up and held out her little paws to catch the nut. You are a blessing to the Squirrels and the birds and to us. We love you and God bless you in Jesus name Amen.
You really know the lineage of your squirrels that’s impressive
Indeed!
I had something really funny happen last week! I heard one of my Blue Jays, then I heard a Hawk, so I went to my backdoor to see what was going on in case the other Birdies and my Squirrels were scared! I noticed none of them were in "Fear of predator" mode! It was the Blue Jay making Hawk sounds!! 🤣🤣 It flew to my tree so I could see it and it appeared to be saying, Haha that was me!"! I said, "Shame on you Blue Jay!". Then it flew off and I could hear it making weird noises about a half a block away! It was SO funny! 🤣🤣🤣
LOL... Minnie is so cute with her waves. :)
I live in Pittsburgh Pa. We have a pair of Bald Eagles in our area. A couple of summers ago, a family of squirrels made their home in the same tree right below the eagles. I spent the whole summer sure that they would be eaten by their upstairs neighbors, but they managed to escape what I thought was inevitable. The squirrels didn’t renew their lease for the next year however.
Absolutely! Every animal and insect has a crucial role in the ecosystem, from pollination to decomposition and maintaining the food chain. Nature thrives on balance! 🐿💖
I love your comment!! I am one of those weird people who would never kill a spider! If a bug flies in during the summer I try so hard to get it back outside!! I just know everything plays an important role in our ecosystem and I have no right to kill anything! That’s just my opinion. I can only speak for me! ❤️
@edwardizhonig204 I'm the same. I've never killed a spider. If I find 1 in the house, I catch it and put it outside
@squirrelobsession- Thank you for your great comment!! I am not the only one! Yay! Have a wonderful day my friend! 🥰Liz
@@edwardizhonig204 My husband and I are the same. We try to save all the spiders and other bugs we find around our apartment.
@Squirrels_at_the_window- you just made my day!! It’s so nice to know others care about the insects and pollinators! All lives big or small matter. God bless you! ❤️ Liz have a beautiful day!!
Interesting that the squirrels have a hawk friend there. Glad it is no harm to the squirrels. 🐿
Another delightful video. Minnie made me smile when she waved at you. Thank you ❤
Cute little Minnie and her personality!
Minnie is more like give me give me, so cute with the hands up. Very precious.
I'm glad you are keeping a sharp eye on that hawk.
Dewey looked so comfortable sitting up in that tree!
I love how she tries to take the whole bowl! Runs in the family 😂❤. Such sweeties
I know what you mean. I get the cycle of life and know that's how it's supposed to be, but I don't want to see it happen. We have a hawk that hangs around our bird feeders sometimes. I tell him it's not his personal buffet and to go back in the woods for lunch. 😁
Your a good mum to these beautiful creatures❤❤❤❤
And ma'am I'm with you on your window it's a safe place to eat and just be cute
Minnie is so cute reaching up for her treats!! 🥰🥰
Its nice to see this. The little hawk is just chilling and the squirrels all know it.
I like the way Minnie was waving her paw in the air, so cute.
If the hawk was a danger to the squirrels, you wouldn't see them for dust!
It's a bit like Capybara and amazon crocodiles. You got to see that to believe it - it's insane. They ride on top of them and everthing.
Nature's a funny old girl 😄
Great video as always 🙏
It's nice to see people concerned though.
Minnie catching nuts is such an adorable picture, I am sure she will catch one eventually 🐿
We often have a hawk who comes and sits on our fence post. He'll sit there for hours sometimes, but he never takes anything from the garden - I think he just feels it's restful!
Hawks are some of the most beautiful avians. We have a lot of them in my part of California.
Minnie is so cute with her wave! Looks like Dewey was hanging out with the hawk!
Hello my friend good to hear from you and hello my little squirrel friends I love every one of you and what you do young lady is awesome thank you 😎🇺🇲😁❤️❤️❤️❤️
Minnie's flailing arms were too cute!!! Then she toppled over... 🌝
And I'm so happy to know that your cute squirrel friends are NOT on the hawk's menu! 👍👍Thx...
You are so correct about the little hawk! We had one land in a tree in our front yard and when one of our squirrels ran up the tree, she saw the hawk and charged at it, and it left. My husband and I were ready to intervene if the hawk acted like the squirrel was going to be taken. I also agree that all animals have their place, however, our yard isn't a predator's fast-food restaurant. They need to eat elsewhere and not anybody that we've named.
Well said! 😊
Nothing wrong with making your space a haven for prey animals. 😃👍
Oh my… Minnie was so cute! 😊🐿💕
I am surprised the squirrel’s get that close to a hawk. It’s good to see they are not that bothered by it. Another great clip of your little friends.
He does not pose a threat and they know it. Hawks are awesome, this one's too small to predate on squirrels but might go after smaller mice. He's gotta eat too after all!
Great to see beautiful Minnie! 🐿️❤ 🐿️
Minnie is my favorite, she is so cute crawling on the bush and waving her hands lol
Crows and Jays help keep hawks away, along with shiny and loud sounds. Some can be devastating to birds and squirrels. Glad you're keeping an eye on this one.
Some Blue Jays will pretend to be Hawks! I had one do it last week! 🤣🤣 The whole little story is in comments!
@@TheOnlyLacyLavender1 will read thank you🩷
I love birds of prey, they are so beautiful. My favorite is the red kite, they are special to me. This hawk is too small to catch these chonky squirrels, don't worry!
That appears to be a Cooper's or Sharp-shinned Hawk. We have them nesting in our neighborhood in south Orange County, CA. Our California Ground Squirrels and our Eastern Fox Squirrels (not a native species for us), are not bothered by either hawk species.
Neat, I never heard of Sharp-Shinned Hawks before. I’m here in Torrance! We get the occasional Cooper’s Hawk, Red Tails, owls (have no clue what kind, I just hear them hootin’ at night), and our neighborhood friendly corvids, my fave. And, of course, lots of Anuts out my window for all the Fox Squirrels. They bark at the Coopers, share with the corvids, and have zero fear of both. What a treat for you to be near ground squirrels. Anyway, happy birding!
I love seeing Minnie wave at you to signal she wants her nuts! All wildlife is beautiful. Sometimes I have to intervene when a big flock pf large birds descends on the food I put out for the squirrels and local small birds. Many Blessings to you!
Was privileged to see a beautiful Kestrel on the wall in my backyard. Never would have known it was there had I not looked to see what the squirrels were alarming about!
Now this is what Heaven will be like 🥰
They are all beauties of nature! The squirrel little guys are particularly lovely! 🥰🥰🥰
2:12 I can't handle how cute she is!! 😍😍
I often wonder where you live that you are able to keep your window open so much of the time. Well now I see that you are probably freezing just to feed the beloved squirrels. You are a very kind soul 🥰😃😁
I think that too. Where I am, it would be mosquitoes galore!
You keep the squirrels well fed and too heavy for the hawk to deal with
What a lovely little neighborhood .. I enjoy these videos so very much ! God bless you 🙏🏻
I love you and appreciate you. Thank you for being you.
What a nice unexpected friendship :)
Hehe - Dewey totally learned brother Huey's technique 😂 Hi Raggy, and omg - sweet Minnie's excited pre-nut wave! I agree w/ you about hawks. I would've stood guard outside, too 🥰
I feed the squirrels around where I live. About a year or so ago, I was watching a young, short tailed hawk that was in the tree in front of my house. The squirrels were out foraging around, and the hawk was watching them. They saw it as well. I thought it was odd that they didn't let out a distress call and hide, but they kept right on eating. The hawk worked its way down the tree and was within 15 feet of me and about 20 feet away from the closest squirrel. It swooped in on the squirrel, but as the hawk made a grab for it, the squirrel did a 360° roll, and the hawk came up empty. It landed 5 feet away from the squirrel and just sat there looking around, probably embarrassed for a minute or two before it flew away. The squirrels seemed like they couldn't care less about the hawk. They probably figured that the hawk couldn't lift them off the ground as overweight as they are. They each look like a furry baseball with ears and a tail.
I liked seeing to Minnie, always playing with your food.
The harmony between animals , birds and humans is Beautiful.
Many greetings
Good week for you
Clara
It's incredible how you know the squirrels from a very good distance. :)
I'm glad the hawk isn't a threat to your squirrels ❤❤❤.
A few years ago I witnessed a sparrowhawk catch a sparrow - it was disturbed by my presence and let go of the sparrow, but the little bird was so stressed that it died eventually. It wasn't nice to watch, but I would never blame the hawk for trying to eat.
It's sad when it happens right in front of you, but I've learned that if that happens is good to let the hawk have it and not intervene. Unfortunately I tried to intervene once and the squirrel died and the hawk didn't get to eat anything, so it was a lose-lose situation. 😔
@Squirrels_at_the_window So true!
I believe the hawk is named Tony.
Genius 😂
Well played 😂
No, he is named Tuah
😂😂
Lovely video and good to see the squirrels. ❤ I hope you are well. Glad the hawk wasn't bothering the squirrels. I find birds of prey fascinating. I was lucky enough to hold a red tailed hawk last September when a local guy wandered around the local meadows with it. Captivating creature. Really well trained too.
I love watching hawks, they are fascinating.
Thank you for sharing. I love all the animals too.❤
Shocking that the hawk doesn't bother them.
They share things. Not hurting each other is really great.❤❤
Cooper's hawk. Yes, Cooper's hawks are no threat to squirrels. I've seen Cooper's hawks sitting on my backyard fence with a squirrel sitting just feet away, and both were completely uninterested in each other.
Thanks!
Thank you very much for your kind gift 😊❤️
How cute Minnie is 🥰 Thank you for the video! Greetings from Germany ❤
I love Minnie, she is so cute
Minnie is becoming my favorite. 🩶
Perfect timing, I was feeling a little down and your video cheered me up. Thanks :)
I agree, all animals have a role in nature. You are so lucky having the squirrels and very kind for what you do for them.
❤🐿️🐿️
Oddly enough I've awoken one morning and found 2 of my squirrels surrounding a young hawk that seemed to be fine with it.
I went to try chase it away but it seemed they were all focused on something else.
Still don't know what the hawk and 2 squirrels were watching but they didn't bother each other.
Lovely video as always
😊always sweet, inviting, and sure to make you smile. Thank you 🖤🩷❤️❤
Looks like you and the squirrels enjoyed a beautiful day.
I miss Cute 😢❤
Great work and very enjoyable to watch
Thank you very much for your kind gift and kind words 😊❤️
Glad to see your squirrels getting along with the hawk. Not so with the squirrels and the crows where I live. The other day I watched a squirrel dig up a hidden nut. A crow watching from the trees promptly swooped down on him, mugged him and flew away with his ill gotten gains 😂. I'm sure the squirrel won't make the same mistake again.
Minnie asking for throwing a nut is sooooo cute. I like hawks and I like squirrels, separatly. Together, not so much. We never know when a menu shifting takes place.
Nothing to worry about, this was a tiny hawk, and they only catch small birds.
Most Animals tend to be More Peaceful with each other than us Humans do.
That’s a lovely sentiment. But if you’re talking about wild animals, I think you might be very surprised. It can be like a constant battlefield.
Minnie waving at you is hilarious.
I totally agree any animal have a place in nature for a reason.
I live in the NW Chicago Suburb of Crystal Lake, IL -- we have a lot of bald eagles around here along the Fox River and in smaller local lakes. Our eagles aren't as interesting in live mammals as they are fish (that's why they hang around rivers and lakes), and road carrion. Heck, someone has to be on the clean-up crew!
My squirrels have a hawk friend too. I used to chase him away but one day I saw him eating a peanut with the squirrels and a blue Jay. I was confused. But he's so good all I have to say is 'really Big Bird?' And he flies off like 'ok ok I got it' . once he tried to hide and scoot behind a branch I had to laugh😂
*_The craziest thing I saw on RUclips where a bald eagle brought a red tailed baby hawk to the nest for food but the smart hawk instantly wanted to be fed and her instincts kicked in and both parents fed it till it fledged!_*
Hawk: "I am Death from above!"
Squirrels: "Yes, but a very small Death. We are not worried."
Hawk: "...okay."
😄
Okay I'm cool with the hawk I do love Hawks too but I just love animals
Dewey is crazy, love all the squirrels, so Adorable so fun to watch thanks.
Thank you very much for your kind gift 😊❤️
Your little cast of fluffy regulars are as beautiful & charming as ever 🤗♥️🐿 Especially little Minnie with her adorable trademark waves 😍😄 I’m glad to see your calming, soothing aura extends to creating interspecies harmony with even the predators in your local area! Disney should have cast you as their live action Snow White - they’d have saved a fortune on the CGI animals if nothing else!
For creatures that are always so keenly observant of their surroundings & who are always so wary of any potential predators, squirrels do seem to have a strange relationship with certain birds of prey.
I’m not sure what kind of hawk you have as a regular, but in my part of the UK we have a lot of sparrow hawks & red kites. Sparrow hawks are pretty small & although notably bigger, red kites aren’t exactly massive in the grand scheme of things either (especially compared to some of the raptors you have Stateside). They are both lightning fast & sharp in all the right places though & you especially wouldn’t want a red kite going off in your face… but whilst our local birds usually flee the second either predator appears, the squirrels never seem very bothered. Size wise, the kites could easily take them as well. But the raptors only seem to have eyes for other birds 🤷🏼
One time, a sparrow hawk had taken a pigeon & was eating its meal under the pine tree in my garden. While it was busy making a mess, one of my then regulars, Stumpi, appeared in the tree. She made her way down the trunk, in full view of the kite & rather than head away or go for some of her own food, she approached the predator & it’s meal & got within 2 feet of the kill & just watched. The hawk kept pausing to look at her, but did nothing to scare her off or indicate there would be any trouble.
I watched Stumpi watch that hawk for a good 5-10 minutes in case there was any trouble, but eventually the hawk got bored & just took the remains it could carry off somewhere else to store.
I’ve seen crows & occasionally magpies harass squirrels though, sometimes in mobs. Thankfully the squirrels tend to flee that kind of attention…
Thank you for your kind words, and for sharing the interesting encounter between the hawk and Stumpi. 😊❤️
@@Squirrels_at_the_windowI might not always understand them, but I’ve always loved watching squirrels & learning about all their little behaviours & quirks. They’re just fascinating & infinitely adorable creatures! & if they want to be friends with some birds of prey, who are we to stop them?
I also saw the thread on your last video about the broken window where you mentioned your landlord dragging his feet about replacing the glass, not letting you pay for it yourself & being unhappy with you feeding the squirrels... If nothing else, if someone (like you) gets injured because of the broken glass, your landlord will surely be liable - at great cost! I really hope they come to their senses & have a change of heart for you soon 🙏🏻🍀🤞🏻
I guess it takes a special kind of hawk to allow these critters to live 😊

Hello Everyone! So sorry you got those negative comments. All creatures great and small are a blessing. Unfortunately, this is a fallen world and predators must eat. When Minnie is in the sun, she looks like a big walking cotton ball! Oh! I could hug and kiss that face!!!! 🥰🥰🥰
@@mariwillalwaysgivethanks Hello! I love your comments, they are always so sweet and kind! Sending love and blessings from Pennsylvania 🙏❤️🙏
I totally agree with the this is a fallen world and everything else you put in there as well, but unfortunately, I don’t wanna see it done in front of me either. I did see a hawk pick up a baby bunny and take it into a tree once right in front of me. That was not pleasant at all. I kept saying to the mama of the bunny you didn’t do your job by protecting your little one. But yes, it is a fallen world so all the creatures need to eat something of prey.

@ Thanks! Yeah…I couldn’t get that off my brain for quite a while. I still think about it from time to time.
If the squirrels don’t feel upset by the hawk’s presence, why are people upset by it?
In addition, you have no control over the squirrels or birds. People need to mind their business.
😁❤️🐿
Well said. I would pin your comment at the top if I wouldn't have to pin my own comment. 😊❤️

No big deal. 🤙🏻😎🐿
The squirrels are so cute!!! 💖🐿🐦 I sometimes try to chase the hawks away... I worry about my little "friends" I am feeding. 😊
I feel you. I worry about the squirrel and birds 🐦 when the hawk around while I feed the squirrels
I know the hawk had to eat too. Its a circle of life I understand the hawk needs tobeat too. But as long as is not in my watch, When I see hawk I come out outside a nd stay with squirrel. And talk to the hawk to go somewhere to get some food. I make noise too, so the hawk goes away.
I also out a chimes outside my yard and something shinny that has reflections,I also put a crow and decoy owl to scare the hawk.
I don't throw nuts or birds foods on the grounds because the birds and squirrel are so vulnerable from the hawk.
I feed my magpies monkey nuts. They know how to ask for them now. My thinking is that if they’re satisfied, less likely they’ll go looking for songbird eggs. Everything’s a judgement I guess. Best to trust your instinct.
Welcome to the neighborhood, Hawk! I agree that all animals are important. And I feel the same way about wanting the animals on my block to feel safe.
