I see a lot of comments asking why anybody would get this, but this is a gem of a bad movie and pretty rewatchable lol. It’s also fun to have the holy trinity of home 3D viewing - Creature from the Black Lagoon, Jaws 3, and Friday the 13th Part 3
Even though the movie hasn't worked out for me I still think in time with a few more viewings I will grow to appreciate it. As of right now I could be more happier to own such a beautiful release. Thank you for checking it out
I can't believe I used to be scared of this! But, to be fair to myself, I was 10 years old! The shark has now made this an unintentional comedy for me! 😂 I've got to like the film. Is it good? No. Do I find it entertaining? Yes!
JAWS 3 is my most favourite among all four. I think it's fun, colourful and campy. I am so glad they have made such a beautiful collector's edition. Great unboxing video. Thank you.
Like I said in the video I didn't think it was the worst thing I've ever seen and I'm hoping with a few more viewings it will become a guilty pleasure of mine. But I don't think I will ever put it ahead of the first two. Thank you so much for stopping by
There seems to be a lot of love out there for Jaws 3 and I'm hoping with a few more viewings I will class it as a guilty pleasure. I'm definitely opened towards it. But thank you as always Christian for taking the time to stop by
My Dad and I went to see Jaws 3-D at the cinema on its original release and we were the only ones there, so clearly word quickly got around around about the quality of the film! 😂🦈🎞️🍿😂 Thanks for continuing to put out great informative film review content, Keith!
I'm actually surprised to hear that the cinema was empty because regardless of what people think of the movie it was actually quite a box office success. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and for the very supportive words. I really appreciate it
Wow I never realised they were giving them away in cereal boxes. That's definitely a first for me. A huge thank you Craig for taking the time out of your day to stop by and check it out
The reason the picture quality is so soft / blurry is due to the 3D system that was used. Instead of other 3D systems that use two separate cameras to film the right and left eye views, Jaws 3 used a single camera set-up. Special lenses squeezed both eye views onto a single frame of 35mm film. So when 2D prints are made, only half of a 35mm frame is used (the left-eye section) which results in 50% less resolution. So you'll never get a sharp picture due to the source material. Also, I think they had issues with many of the composite FX shots during production, which resulted in hurried reshoots without the time/money to do them properly, adding even more to the overall visual crumminess.
The thing is the picture quality is not as soft as you would think. Despite all of the 4K transfers issues when you stack it up against the previous Blu-ray it's staggering the difference. Jaws 3 has a history of looking terrible on every single format it's been on but this is hands down the best it's ever looked. I guarantee you whenever I do check this out again it will be the 4K release. I can't see how you could possibly go back to the Blu-ray. I think it's unwatchable
Thank you for this video! I hadn't made myself aware this edition even existed, and I'm very sorry to hear it wasn't for sale here in the U.S. I saw the film in 3D at the cinema when it came out in '83. It's my second-favorite in the franchise, only behind the '75 original! 🦈🦈🦈👓♥️💙
Hey Jeff. I do not understand for the life of me why these are not available over in the States. God knows there is a huge market for it. At least yous were able to get the Steelbook which is rather nice. I have to admit I am very surprised by the amount of people that stop by the comment section who said the really enjoyed this movie. I'm hoping in time I will grow to enjoy it and call it a guilty pleasure. I am definitely opened to it. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by
Well presented video about this item. Those postcards are actually Mini Lobby Cards. The original Lobby Cards were/are a set of 8. They took the 4 best and reproduced them in mini form. They look beautiful with that glossy finish. Also, chuckled when you referred to that Orca (Killer Whale) as a Dolphin. Looking forward to your review on the JAWS: The Revenge 4K set.
I've said it to a few people in the comment section it's great to see such an underrated movie like Jaws 3 getting this kind of treatment. You don't see it too often and all the credit in the world goes to Universal for doing it. I couldn't be happier and I honestly can't wait to get my hands on Jaws the Revenge. Thank you so much for stopping by and checking it out
I agree completely a lot of RUclipsrs are going out of their way to generate video content with regards to the AI used in the crowd scenes for Jaws 3 👎🏻, I find it annoying in all honesty and in general it was made with the intent of being 3D so therefore there are going to be some strange out of place shots in the movie, but nevertheless the source material is not a great benchmark to be working from, however it is the best it’s ever looked ❤.
I absolutely 100% agree with you when it comes to the movie looking it's best. When you stack it up against the previous Blu-ray I think it's a revelation. I think the Blu-ray is unwatchable. So despite all the flaws that the 4K transfer has and there is quite a bit it will still be my go-to way to watch this movie. I'm sure there is going to be so many people out there happy with what they see.
Give it a go Andy and see what you think of it. I wasn't particularly impressed but I'm still very open to watching it again and you never know it might grow on me in time. Thank you as always my friend for stopping by
Great vid as always Keith, with regards to the transfer, out of the 4 Jaws flicks this has always looked the worse, from the tv broadcasts, DVD, Blu Ray etc ... very grainy, that mainly due to the 3D tech ... so the 4k is the best its ever looked, these reviewers zooming in on a extra in a large crowd, seeing someone's face looking weird ... its an 80's flick, that looked off before the remaster. Again thanks for your content. Top Notch!
Yeah you're absolutely correct Mark. Is one of those movies that's never looked great. But regardless of the issues that I have with the 4K transfer and trust me there is a lot of them this is hands down the best the movie has ever looked and I'm willing to forgive it's issues. I think the Blu-ray is unwatchable. But thank you so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts on it
Always enjoy your videos and have watched for a long time now 😊 But one thing I wish you would always include is how much the edition's retail for... Maybe you can start doing this :)
I actually started doing heads up videos in the last month for upcoming collector's Editions that are coming out this year and that's where I feature all the prices.
Another good honest review Keith, this edition looks a decent one but not one I'll be saving up for. This is the typical 70s and 80s franchise of diminishing returns. Well done tho for getting it, a true film fan 👍
Like I said in the video John it is by no means a great movie but I'm very opened for the movie to grow on me in time after multiple viewings. It's frightening how many times it's happened to me. It's a beautiful Edition and it goes so well with the second. Looking forward to finally checking out Jaws the Revenge. That's shaping up to be a fantastic release as well. Thank you as always John for taking the time to stop by
I'm sure there is a massive fan base out there for this movie. Correction I know there is because they wouldn't bring out releases like this if there wasn't. I'm very opened towards it. I'm sure I'll feel differently the more I watch it
Yes, the American version of this release did not get the extras that the UK edition received. I actually did see this on the big screen back in the day and it was fun in 3D, but the movie itself was really bad. I actually do like this movie for some weird reason that I do not know, maybe because I saw when I was a kid in the theater. Anyway, great review and I kind of wish I got the UK version instead of the U.S. version.
I have to admit Dax I am very surprised by the amount of people that stopped by my comment section saying they really enjoyed this movie and I am hoping after a few more viewings I will feel the exact same. It's never going to come close to the original 2 but I hope it becomes somewhat of a guilty pleasure. Yeah I had a feeling that the Americans didn't get the collector's edition. I honestly don't know why because there's a huge market for releases Like These. But thank you so much my friend for taking the time to stop by and share your thoughts on it
I had my copy delivered weekend before release date (lucky me). I heard all about the AI upgrade, & like you, I could find nothing wrong which ruined the viewing experience. These reviewers seem to have nothing else better to do with their lives than be nitty gritty with the pettiest things. The transfer could be better, like you said and like you, I thought it was the original source material. Now, I'm looking forward to my Jaws 4 when that arrives. (Apparently, the transfer is amazing, but, pity about the film itself).
Unfortunately it seems to be the world that we are living in at the moment where people are jumping at AI when it comes to 4K releases like this. They instantly think that's the problem but I am 100% convinced it's the source material and it's great to hear you think the same as well. I'm not going to lie I don't think I done my job as well as I should have done in this video because when you do look at the Blu-ray and stack it up against the 4k it is a true Night and Day difference and it will always be my go-to way to watch the movie. I heard Jaws 4 looks phenomenal and I'm looking forward to checking it out. Finger crossed the movie will be slightly better
I'm hoping that in time the movie will grow on me. It will never come close to the original or it's sequel but I really do hope to call it a guilty pleasure sometime in the future
Hi Keith Plissken, I"ve on purpose chose not to watch unboxings of this edition as i loved the first two editions of "Jaws" & "Jaws 2" which i have & they are great collectors editions, & i didn"t want to be tempted in purchasing in this one, as its a movie that i was so disappointed in watching & renting the movie back in the day & watched three times in two days as it was a sequel that i tried to like, & it bothered me that much that i gave up wanting to watch "Jaws The Revenge" glad it followed suit with the previous two collectors editions. Thanks for sharing Keith.
Like I said in the video Carlos I was very let down by the movie itself but it is definitely nothing near as bad as I thought it was going to be. I'm going to give this movie all the effort that I can and hopefully in time I will grow to call it a guilty pleasure. I can't tell you how happy I am to still own this absolutely incredible release of it. You have to give universal credit for putting so much effort behind this release even though there's not a big fan base out there for it. But thank you again my friend for taking the time to stop by and check it out
Jaws 3's story is bonkers, but it has a few good moments. The SFX are pretty dire tho. Still nice to have in you collection if only for that great packaging!
To be honest Paul I am hoping it's one of those movies that will grow on me in time. I'm definitely willing to give it a go. Thank you as always for stopping by
I hoped you had more to play with on the lenticular, the back artwork i agree is fantastic. That cgi scene is hilarious, we could probably do something better on ms paint lol. That in depth analysis of certain scenes for jaws 3 of all films was weird, its always going to have a few issues because it was designed for 3-d
Like I said in the video Steve I think it's more to do with its original 3D elements than AI that's causing the problems when it comes to this 4K transfer. The one thing I will say despite its issues when you stack it up against the Blu-ray the 4K disc is a revelation. I couldn't believe how bad the Blu-ray looked on this set. It's actually unwatchable.
@millerman9991 I remember you could rent this with glasses like with freddys dead in some videoshops, Hopefully you can see it in 3d bluray, not possible foe me currently to see any.
Keith great review I've seen this movie so many times on VHS< DVD< Blu-ray I even have it on DVD in a 3-d version with 3-d glasses the 4k uhd version is the best version I've seen in 40 years I would love to see it in 3-d Blu-ray version .i have not seen it on laser disk but trust me this the best version I've seen and yes it's a crap movie but I love it see you next time my friend I have one more thing to say it's better to burn out than to Fade away heeyaaay!!!
Like I said in the video James the 4K transfer has so many issues but when you stack it up against the previous Blu-ray it's actually a Night and Day difference. I think the Blu-ray is unwatchable as a matter of fact. A guarantee you when I check it out again I will watch it in 3D or this 4K version. 9 at 10 times I will probably go back to the 4k. Thank you as always James for taking the time to stop by
Good video, Keith. I can understand you wanting to have it in your collection as a completist, but it's a pretty terrible movie that overall just looks bad. And it always has. Even at the theater back in '83, it looked lousy and gave me a friggin headache. Lol. My kids love the shot of the shark hitting the glass at the end though. They howl. My daughter calls it the Drag and Drop Shark.
Like I said in the video Bill I do not regret my purchase despite the issues that I have with the movie and the 4K transfer. Despite all the issues that came with the 4K transfer it is hands down the best the movie has ever looked particularly when you stack it up against that God awful Blu-ray which I think is unwatchable. Every time I watch it I guarantee you it will be the 4K version and hopefully in time the movie Will grow on me somewhat. But thank you so much for stopping by. I really appreciate it
Yeah it wasn't the greatest movie I have to admit but I hope in time with a couple more viewings I might grow to appreciate it somewhat. Thank you so much my good friend for taking the time to stop by and for the incredibly kind words. It has really made my night
Like I said in the video Shaun it is all down to source material. It's the 3D elements. As bad as the 4K picture looks it is a marked improvement over the Blu-ray which I think is unwatchable. I would actually recommend the 4k
I've been looking forward to this review Keith. As bad as the movie is I bet you had fun watching it. I appreciate the film only because it's part of the Jaws series but that's it. Saying that, you've made me want to watch this movie now. The steel book artwork alone is worth having. Can't wait for your review on Jaws the Revenge.
Like I said in the video Gary it's a bad movie but it's nothing near as bad as what people made it out to be. I'm not against watching it again and I guarantee you I will. It might even grow on me in time. I've said it so many times in videos but I pride myself on giving movies a second chance. As for the Jaws the Revenge I am expecting a better movie. But not by much. I will know a very soon. But thank you as always my friend for taking the time to stop by
Hey Keith, my first time watching it too. I had seen the TV spots back in the day and it’s the scene where he breaks through the glass. It looks so bad I never went to the theater to see it, and I never watched it at home . I caught bits and pieces of it over the years, and it just looked just as bad or if not worse as I remembered. I’m talking about VHS and cable TV. I’ve never seen the Blu-ray so seeing this now in 4K shocked how good it looks in comparison to what I was used to. It definitely has its issues and the crowd scene. I totally agree with you how stupid I was looking for it by the time I grab my Remote the scene was over. I didn’t even bother to rewind I didn’t see it and I sit about 9 feet away from my television. It’s too bad they didn’t take the care that Spielberg did to make the shark book real. I think if the shark would’ve looked as good as in the original jaws I think the movie would’ve definitely been 20% better maybe 25%. very curious to see what you say about the revenge. See you in the next one.👍
No question about it John when you stack this 4K release up against the Blu-ray it's staggering the difference. Even though the 4K has its issues and trust me there is a lot of them it's very hard to argue particularly when you see the Blu-ray which I think is unwatchable. Fair play to you by the way for not rewinding that scene back because there's no point to it. Even if you watch it again chances are you won't notice it. As for the movie itself I'm hoping in time it will grow on me. I'm definitely going to give it a chance because it is Jaws after all and it deserves a second chance. It will never come close to the first two particularly the original but I hope to somewhat appreciate it sometime in the future. As for Jaws the Revenge I am hoping for a better movie and something's telling me that's what I'm going to get. I will know very soon. But thank you once again John for taking the time to stop by. I always appreciate hearing your thoughts on movies
I own a number of 3D movies and I've always been a fan of Jaws. I think they took an out of focus 3D blu ray, ran the HDR and AI on this and called it a day. I haven't watched the 3D version yet but only the 4K. I also zoomed into the Sea World crowd and noticed a lot of zombies and ghouls. Not a very good transfer and I found the Atmos very lacking. Good review Keith.
To be honest I'm not convinced that AI plays a huge role on this transfer. Jaws 3 always look bad on physical Media. It's source material is in very bad shape and the 3D elements definitely don't help. Those zombies and ghouls that you are talking about apparently you can see them on the Blu-ray as well. So that means AI played no role in that whatsoever. It's not a good 4K transfer but the one thing I will say when you stack it up against the Blu-ray it's a true Night and Day difference. The Blu-ray is unwatchable
So what do you think of Jaws 4, and are you going to pick up the boxset. Jaws 4 is not good either, but I think it's way better then Jaws 3, and it deserves more credit then it gets.
I haven't seen Jaws the revenge either but I have pre-ordered the collector's edition. I was told it is a better movie than part 3. So I am somewhat optimistic. I'm not expecting much but hopefully in time both movies will be classed as guilty Pleasures
I was going to pick this up as well as the other 3, but when I saw the scalper prices, they can shove up their arses, as they are NOT reasonably priced! I saw the same screenshot you were talking about with the crowd, and it would have e been better if they took a static camera shot, not a tracking or moving camera shot, as it doesn't give a true representation of the picture. Great video as always, Keith.
You're absolutely right not to be paying those scalper prices Mike. I wish there was a way to stop them. It's always the fans that lose out. Yeah but I felt it was right in this video to call out the way that these movies have been reviewed on 4k. Zooming in on a static image to show off something that you simply would never see is absolutely ridiculous. Even though the 4K has so many problems when you stack it up against a Blu-ray it's a true Night and Day a difference in quality. The Blu-ray is unwatchable. But for some strange reason nobody seems to be talking about that
@millerman9991 yeah, the zooming in I don't understand at all. You don't get a true representation of the quality of the picture. Probably done for clickbait.
@millerman9991 sadly so. Some people just love to pick things apart instead of looking at the bigger picture (pun not intended). That's one of the reasons I love your reviews, not only of the exquisite packaging but also the fair picture review.
I really appreciate that Mike. I am not one of these people that over analyses everything. I enjoy the movie and I talked about what I saw. I don't see what's to be gained by making people aware of things they'll never see
Hey Keith. Been looking foward to your review of this. Seen so many bad things. I think like me, you just seem to try and enjoy the film for what it is and not try and pick all the faults with it. I appreciate a good transfer of course but Im not looking for inconsistencies and stuff all the time. Unless something is glaringly obvious I dont even spot it most of the time. I nearly spat my drink out when you swore. Lol. Brilliant. Couldnt agree more. Regarding the actual film though, its pretty trashy but its alway been a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. It has Manimal in it too which is always a bonus. I just love that bit with the window. Looks like a cardboard cutout getting zoomed in. Im tempted to buy it but then I would have to get the 4th film to complete the set and I really dont like that one. Its awful
The one thing I find very surprising and not just surprising but it's great to see but there seems to be a lot of love out there for this movie and I'm hoping in time when I watch it a few times myself it will grow on me as well. It will never be as good as the first two particularly the original but I'm hoping it will be a guilty pleasure in time. In terms of the 4K transfer this thing of nitpicking and trying to find problems that people will simply never see I find ridiculous and pathetic if I'm completely honest. I am no expert. I buy these movies to enjoy them and I don't over analyse anything. I talked about what I see and I do it as well as I can. I guarantee you when I watch it again it will be this 4K version because it is head and shoulders ahead of the Blu-ray which I think is unwatchable. Thank you so much Chris for stopping by and sharing your thought about it. I really do appreciate it
I'm glad you got a lot from the story. Me personally I felt it lacked any kind of imagination. I'm okay with people trying to do something a little different but unfortunately it didn't work for me
Great and honest review keith. It’s not the best movie in the franchise really is it 😂 but I think us collectors will buy it to complete the full set and it is a nice set with the lenticular cover and poster. Received my own copy yesterday.
Like I said in the video Darren I will never regret buying this movie. As a matter of fact I'm going to watch it again very soon to see the 3D version. It's a beautiful edition and it goes so well with the second one. I'm so happy to hear that you got it yourself. There's not many of them out there
Lovely edition matey despite it not being the best of films lol Like you say it may grow on you just that little bit more after a second watch.. maybe lol
That's the hope. I've said it's so many times in the so many videos but I pride myself on giving movies a second go and hopefully someday I can call this movie a guilty pleasure.
I have 800 of 2000. Waiting to watch it until The Revenge comes in. Then go on a Jawsathon. Okay so I could never claim this is a good movie but it's a guilty pleasure. Must've watched it 30+ times. Not going to lie I like The Revenge though and will defend it.
I think that's what I'm hoping to get out of it sometime in the future. I'm hoping I can turn around and say it's a guilty pleasure. Great to hear that you picked up the collector's edition yourself. I am expecting a better movie with Jaws the Revenge. I hope it delivers. I will know very soon
@@millerman9991 I just view Jaws 3 as a schlocky standalone 80s horror and not necessarily a Jaws sequel, that way I enjoy it more. From what I've heard The Revenge is the complete opposite and is a great looking transfer. As for the film, it's definitely better than Jaws 3, maybe not quite as good as Jaws 2. You just have to roll your eyes a little with the concept of the story, but once you get past that I think you can have a good time with it.
The one thing I will say when it comes to Jaws 3 despite all its issues it is so much better than most of the shark movies that you see nowadays. I'm sure Jaws the revenge is going to be a more enjoyable movie. I will definitely go into with an open mind. Hopefully the fantastic 4K transfer will elevate my enjoyment
Funny you should say that, every time someone criticises Jaws 2 I always say “yeah but if the first film didn’t exist it’s still probably the best shark film of all-time” 😂
I never did like this one Keith, just the first two. Very nice set though mate. Incidentally Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett Jr were in Enemy Mine together and even though it bombed hard, I quite enjoyed it. Well done for calling out the reviewers by the way, it was just as bad when the James Cameron films came out on 4k. Take care both of you. Gaz.
It's only when I finished shooting this video when I realised that Dennis Quaid and Louis gossip junior starred in Enemy mine and the difference in acting is staggering. I am a huge fan of enemy mine and now that you put it in my head I think I might watch it this weekend. Yeah Gary this thing of pausing an image and then zooming in to show people issues I think is absolutely pathetic. It is not a great 4K transfer but it is head and shoulders ahead of the Blu-ray which I think is unwatchable. All in all I'm very happy with my purchase. Thank you as always my friend for stopping by
I never liked the movie. I agree about reviewers blowing it out of proportion. But on the flip side, I agree with them about the use of A.I. instead of proper restoration techniques. But like you said, I just think it boils down to the source material. They didn't have anything good to work with.
Like I said in the video AI does not play a huge role in why the movie looks as bad as it does on 4k. It is clear to see it's the original 3D elements that causing all the trouble. Even the so-called ghost faces appeared on the Blu-ray and AI had absolutely nothing to do with that. Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of that process myself but like I said I don't think it's at fault for this release
@@millerman9991 My review of it was more pleasant than others. LOL. Even with its flaws, it was massive upgrade over the BD. My thought is...no mater how they did it, it would have not looked great. So people would have bitched regardless. So did the best they could with what they had. Like you said, if you do not pause it and zoom in on it, you will not notice that issue.
@screamingeekmedia yeah I said the same myself in my video despite all of its issues and there's quite a lot of them when you stack it up against the Blu-ray it's a true Night and Day difference. I think the Blu-ray is unwatchable
Hi Keith, once more a spot-on review. I saw that movie originally in 3-D in a movie theater. I hated it and after Friday the 13th 3-D and Amityville 3-D I just had enough of wonky 3-D movies. Last friday, I already mentioned that James Cameron isn't the only one to fuck up a 4K transfer with AI. Really, don't get me wrong Keith, I'm not one of those nitpicking pixel counters. When I sit down to watch a movie in my home theater, I want to enjoy myself. I'm not a reviewer, just a movie fan who does appreciate a good quality release. And Jaws 3 just looked awful. Yes, of course, most of the problems are source related. This movie never looked great. They really fucked up the crowd sequences in Sea World, but the rest of the movie didn't look a lot better, either. The ridiculous 3-D may be one source of the problems. However, just take a look at Universal's 4K of The Creature from the Black Lagoon. They didn't mess that one up. It looked just fine. As far as the film itself is concerned, well the first Jaws is my all-time favorite movie. The first sequel was decent enough, but Jaws 3; why the acting is really something (like you mentioned), the story, OK what story? I've always regarded this as kind of a guilty pleasure but this 4K didn't add anything to further my enjoyment of this dud. As far as the latest shark movies go, I might recommmend No Way Up. This one really was a pleasant surprise. This film is about a passenger plane that crashes over the ocean and sinks. And, you may have guessed it, the incoming water is not the only problem the surviving passengers have to face. The film has a nice built up (reminded me a little bit of the Airport films) and some really decent effects. It's definitely not your typical The Asylum crap. You have a nice evening. I'm really looking forward to next friday's live stream.
The thing with myself is I don't want to talk too much about AI because I honestly don't know if it played a huge part with this 4K transfer. I'm still sticking to the fact that it's the original source material that's in a terrible way largely to do with its 3D elements. But there is no denying how better the 4K looks when you knock it on after the Blu-ray. I think the Blu-ray is unwatchable. The Blu-ray makes this 4K look good and that's saying something despite all the issues the 4K has. I haven't seen Creature From the Black Lagoon and I really should get around to watching the 4K of that. Great to hear that it has a solid 4K transfer. As for the movie itself I really do hope it grows on me in the future. I am definitely opened to it. I don't think it will ever be a movie that I love but like I said in the video I really hope it becomes a guilty pleasure like yourself. But thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and put all of this down. The effort is absolutely fantastic and I can't stress you how much I appreciate it. All the best to you my friend
@@millerman9991 I do hope this will work out for you if you give it another try. Jaws 3 is still better than most of the shark films that do get released nowadays literally on a monthly basis. It was just such a letdown after the first two Jaws movies, in particular if you consider the "star power" to boot. I mean, you have the late great Louis Gosset jr., Dennis Quaid and Lea Thompson. It should have been so much better. I think the problem with that movie is that the producers thought they could make a quick buck with just the Jaws brand and adding the 3-D gimmick. Let's see how you like Jaws: The revenge. I don't want to spoil anything, but I think you are going to like this one better than Jaws 3. It's not Jaws or even Jaws 2 but it's not as bad as everybody says. It does at least have some nice location shooting and the 4K is pretty decent, especially in those sunny daytime scenes. And there's quite a bit of that.
@EvilAsh66 I think what even troubled me even more when it comes to the acting particularly Louis gossip Jr and Dennis Quaid is the fact that both of them appeared in enemy mine which was only 2 years later and they're acting is absolutely astonishing in it. Such a great movie as well. I'm not sure what happened with the both of them in this one
Hi Keith. Brilliant review as always. I never noticed those 2 seconds either. I just sat down and watched it. I think everyone should just be happy that we have had this 4K release at all to add to their Jaws series collection, regardless of the methods used to remaster the film. A few years ago, I read that Gerry Anderson's 1990's space crime show Space Precinct was remastered in HD using the same method due to the film source. Back to Jaws 3 however, thi is my favourite instalment of the series by a country mile because of Dennis Quaid. Also, the music composer of Jaws 3 went on to compose the music for all 30 episodes of the 1984-1986 ITV cop show Dempsey and Makepeace.
I love reading comments like this because I get to learn so much. Yeah normally I don't rant about the way people review 4K transfers but the way this one was treated in particular i found to be very frustrating. Despite the issues that the 4K transfer has it is a Night and Day difference over the previous Blu-ray and nobody seems to be talking about that. I think the Blu-ray is unwatchable and I guarantee you when I watched this again it will be the 4k. I didn't particularly enjoy the movie but I really am hoping in time and after a few viewings I will grow on me. There's a huge fan base out there for it and it's great to see it getting the kind of treatment that it got. I honestly couldn't be happier. But thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and share your thoughts.
Great video as always 😊 Would you say the movie is so bad it's good? Lol I've not seen it since I was a kid so can't remember much about it. But I've found as I've gotten older I've found new appreciation for movies I watched back in the day that I thought were shit. Don't get me wrong, most of them still are shit 😅 but I find I enjoy them more. Maybe it's a nostalgia thing? Lol
I'll tell you what Kevin it is a lot better than some of the God awful shark movies that you see today. I'm hoping in time and after a few more viewings I will grow to call it a guilty pleasure of mine. All I can say is give it another go and see what you think yourself. I don't have that nostalgic connection towards it but you could feel very differently about it
@@millerman9991 I will definitely check it out. I remember watching the movie's on TV when I was a kid. I remember they would usually be shown on a Sunday night and I was allowed to stay up late to watch them. And going to school the next day and chatting about them with my mates. So yeah, nostalgia will play a big factor for me.
Honestly Kevin I really do hope you enjoy it whenever you get around to checking it out. I do find once I have a nostalgic connection towards a movie chances are I will always enjoy it and I'm hoping the same will happen to you
Hi Keith,, Good review,, Nice boxset,, 👍,, But yeah film is bad,, wait until you see the forth film,,,, lol,,, 🤣🤣,,, But dont get me wrong because i absolutely luv the original jaws movie,, Its one of my favourite films of all time ,,👌 and i liked the second film,,,,,Aswell,,,,,, Now im really curious about this particular scene you was talking about ,,in jaws 3,,, the bit you had to pause,,,,,,🤔,, But anyway Keith,,, Good video,, I enjoy watching your unboxings 👍😀
I didn't want to say much in the video about that scene that you have to pause because I don't want to make people aware of it because you simply won't see it. That's why I didn't mention what you see. But I will tell you Lee apparently if you pause a certain image it's a crowd scene if you look at the back of the Crowd some of the Faces look ghost like. There is no way you would ever notice unless somebody makes you aware of it and even at that you might struggle to see it. As for Jaws the Revenge I'm not expecting much from it but I'm hoping it will be better than this one. I will know very very soon. But thank you as always my friend for taking the time to stop by. I appreciate the support
Jaws 3 has never looked good in 2D on any media platform, be it VHS, DVD, Blu Ray or any TV print I've seen over the years. Whatever 3D technology they used to shoot the film just doesn't lend itself well to 2D I don't think and never will.
Yeah I mentioned that in the video it's all down to source material and it's clear to see that the 3D elements is severely hampering this movie on physical Media. But like I said in the video when you stack it up against the Blu-ray it's almost a night and day difference. I think the Blu-ray is unwatchable. I guarantee when I watch it again it will be the 4K despite its issues
Ai or not this 4K release is the best this film has ever looked in 2D . The standard blu ray is terrible and a hard watch . Even in 3D . So much grain It's like watching it through a pair of Net Curtains in parts .
Yeah like I said in the video it's the best the movie has ever looked. The picture quality is staggering compared to the Blu-ray which I think is unwatchable.
@@millerman9991 yeah I always thought the bluray looked bad , but it wasn't until I watched the 4K disc and then shoved in the standard blu ray that I could see how crap it was . Grateful that universal did eventually release the 3d version but maybe they should run the other eye thru the same clean up process for that version too . One thing I did notice in the 4k is that near the end when the guests are in the tunnel and the girl shouts "daddy look a fish" you can no longer see the camera dolley track bottom right , it's been cropped out . This was present on the blu ray .
Mate the 3D release thank god isn’t the red blue glasses For me Jaws 3 is a definite guilty pleasure hahah. It’s so bad it’s good. HAHHA Just see it as a creature feature and suddenly it ranks up higher hahahha
Like I said in the video it's never going to be a movie that I will love but I'm hoping to somewhat appreciate it in the future. Maybe the 3D version is the way to go to get that appreciation
@@millerman9991 I think it’s defo a nostalgia based viewing now. But when u need a dumb shark movie. U got this now:). Hahah. Sharknados and jaws 3/4 hahah
@@millerman9991 the movie was shot in 3D back then. If u see the old blurrays and vhs. And this 4K. You will see how drastically it’s improved. The original was very bad on some scenes.
@@millerman9991 oh that’s for sure. HAHHA. The thing that holds this back is the Jaws name. Take that out and u have a great B movie creature feature haha
I skipped this 1 mate , I didn't like jaws 2 transfer and audio . I'm getting more selective with my purchases.. It's a lovely edition tho , I've got the jaws blu ray collection . Got jaws 1 twice on 4k tho ( vaults)
I'm surprised to hear that you didn't enjoy the transfer on Jaws 2 because I thought it was fantastic. This is definitely nowhere near as good unfortunately but it is still head and shoulders ahead of the Blu-ray
@@millerman9991 I just found the hdr to be a bit blown out on 2, but I'm really into my audio mate , so it wasn't a keeper for me personally. In other news I got starship troopers steelbook from America sent in a thin jiffy bag and arrived in perfect condition. Woohoo ! Never seen the film tho .
@iansteventon4221 that is an incredible movie. I am a huge fan of Starship Troopers. The 4K transfer looks amazing on it with an equally impressive audio. It's a little grainy at times but still impressive nonetheless
I love the way you phrased that Marty an excellent cast who forgot how to act. That's exactly what's going on in the movie. Thank you so much for stopping by
I can't give my opinion on the transfer because I don't own it yet. Just waiting for a price drop on the steelbook so I can complete my steelbook collection. ✌
The 4K transfer has its issues but when you stack it up against the Blu-ray it truly is a Night and Day difference. It's actually quite staggering the difference. The Blu-ray is unwatchable. I think you might be impressed
I've got to like the film. Is it good? No. Do I find it entertaining? Yes!
It's a very bad movie but the one thing I will say is it is so much better than most of what comes out today in terms of shark movies.
Thank you so much for stopping by
Thanks for covering this one, Keith! I have a soft spot for Jaws 3 as I grew up watching it quite a bit along with the original and Jaws 2
There seems to be a lot of love out there for Jaws 3 and I'm hoping with a few more viewings I will class it as a guilty pleasure. I'm definitely opened towards it. But thank you as always Christian for taking the time to stop by
The high res glossy picture cards look better then moving frames in the movie lol.
My Dad and I went to see Jaws 3-D at the cinema on its original release and we were the only ones there, so clearly word quickly got around around about the quality of the film! 😂🦈🎞️🍿😂
Thanks for continuing to put out great informative film review content, Keith!
I'm actually surprised to hear that the cinema was empty because regardless of what people think of the movie it was actually quite a box office success.
Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and for the very supportive words. I really appreciate it
Hi Keith as always great review pal. I do remember when this was released back in 83 you got the 3D glasses in a serial box . Thanks again Keith 👍
Haven't seen this for decades can't even remember much of it tbh only Dennis Quad. Will have to check it out again at some point. Nice review mate
Give it a go Andy and see what you think of it. I wasn't particularly impressed but I'm still very open to watching it again and you never know it might grow on me in time. Thank you as always my friend for stopping by
Thank you Keith.
It's always my pleasure my friend. Thank you for stopping by
Great edition Keith.... Thanks for sharing 👍
It's always my pleasure Roy and thank you again for stopping by.
I've always loved JAWS 3 and probably because of the cheese factor. Never scene it in 3D but I am sure I will like the 4K.
If you stack the 4K up against the Blu-ray trust me you will love the 4k. Despite all its issues it's a Night and Day difference over the Blu-ray
But thank you so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts on it
Great videos as always Keith and I love tue intro music keep it up bro

Great video as always Keith. I hope you’re well my friend 👍🏻
Thank you for so much for stopping by Dave. Doing great my friend and I hope all is well with you
Always enjoy your videos and have watched for a long time now 😊 But one thing I wish you would always include is how much the edition's retail for... Maybe you can start doing this :)
I actually started doing heads up videos in the last month for upcoming collector's Editions that are coming out this year and that's where I feature all the prices.
I think the guys who did jaws 3 and jaws the revenge must have all been on cocaine or some harder drugs...lol!😁
I'm willing to accept that excuse especially when you consider how bad the movie actually is. Thankfully not as bad as I thought it was going to be
Another good honest review Keith, this edition looks a decent one but not one I'll be saving up for.
Thank you as always John for taking the time to stop by
@@millerman9991 You're welcome Keith, looking forward to your review on that one too.
I think it's out in a month's time. Looking forward to it
I saw this at the cinema. My 12 year old self enjoyed it. Wish I kept the glasses.(Cardboard)
I'm sure there is a massive fan base out there for this movie. Correction I know there is because they wouldn't bring out releases like this if there wasn't. I'm very opened towards it. I'm sure I'll feel differently the more I watch it
Never watched Jaws 3/3-D. That's a lovely edition mate 👍
I can't say that you are missing out Chris. It's not a great movie
@@millerman9991I won't rush to check it out then 😉
I wouldn't blame you Chris
Great as usual Keith . I get the 3d point for buying it for fun but why would anyone else buy this.
I'm hoping that in time the movie will grow on me. It will never come close to the original or it's sequel but I really do hope to call it a guilty pleasure sometime in the future
Hi Keith Plissken,
I"ve on purpose chose not to watch unboxings of this edition as i loved the first two editions of "Jaws" & "Jaws 2" which i have & they are great collectors editions, & i didn"t want to be tempted in purchasing in this one, as its a movie that i was so disappointed in watching & renting the movie back in the day & watched three times in two days as it was a sequel that i tried to like, & it bothered me that much that i gave up wanting to watch "Jaws The Revenge" glad it followed suit with the previous two collectors editions.
@fourlights I remember those days well Steve particularly with Freddy's dead.
I really appreciate it
Omg, I could have made that movie myself. The CGI looks horrible, great edition though.
Amazing video as always, Keith. You always make my day.
Yeah it wasn't the greatest movie I have to admit but I hope in time with a couple more viewings I might grow to appreciate it somewhat. Thank you so much my good friend for taking the time to stop by and for the incredibly kind words. It has really made my night
I actually went to see jaws 3 in the cinema when it first came out Keith lol
I'm sure that must have been somewhat of an experience for you Arthur. I know there's a fan base out there for this movie
Dennis Quaid was high on coke when he made this. Years later he asked about the film and his response was “I was in that?” 😂
I wouldn't be one bit surprised if that is true. If you're going to have an excuse I suppose it doesn't get much better than that
Great video Keith. Hi have Iowned Jaws 3 on VHS Dvd and Blu ray and it has never looked very good. 😩
Your awesome!
I appreciate that Johnny. Thank you for stopping by
Hi Keith not one of the best Jaws movies but the boxset looks great
No it's really not Mike. I knew it was going to be bad. Thankfully not as bad as I thought it was going to be
love the vid never seen jaws 3 nice set shame about the movie tc steve
Hey Steve. Hopefully in time the movie will grow on me. I'm definitely opened for it to do so. Thank you so much for stopping by
So what do you think of Jaws 4, and are you going to pick up the boxset.
@thatotherretroguy there was a lot of people doing it unfortunately. If you go looking for problems chances are you'll find them
@millerman9991 sadly so.
I really do appreciate it
I believe the story is an interesting premise actually…what more could they do in amity without feeling the same as the first 2 cheers take care Keith
There's not many of them out there
Same as you keith I have the three movies now and waiting on jaws the revenge next month. Until next review keith. Thanks.
Always my pleasure Darren and thank you again for stopping by. Look after yourself
Just getting megan on ultra HD blu ray the day Keith
That is such a great movie Arthur. I really hope you enjoy it
@millerman9991 love this copy on steel book and that
Oh did you get the collector's edition. If so it's absolutely beautiful. The Steelbook in particular looks amazing
@millerman9991 yeah come with postcards a book and that
Yeah that's the one. It's a lovely release. Great to hear that you got one.
Lovely edition matey despite it not being the best of films lol
Like you say it may grow on you just that little bit more after a second watch..
Funny you should say that, every time someone criticises Jaws 2 I always say “yeah but if the first film didn’t exist it’s still probably the best shark film of all-time” 😂
Yeah I absolutely agree with you there.
Thank you as always my friend for stopping by
The booklet is better than the movie
Very hard to argue against that
I never liked the movie.
I think the Blu-ray is unwatchable
wrath of the titans arrow box set. and space 1999 box set with mad max furiosa 4k steelbook just shipped
I have my Wrath of the Titans coming soon
I do find once I have a nostalgic connection towards a movie chances are I will always enjoy it and I'm hoping the same will happen to you
Jaws 3 should never have been made.
I wasn't too crazy about it but there is a big fan base out there for it. I'm hoping it will grow on me
Hi Keith,,
Good review,,
Nice boxset,, 👍,,
But yeah film is bad,, wait until you see the forth film,,,, lol,,, 🤣🤣,,,
But dont get me wrong because i absolutely luv the original jaws movie,,
Its one of my favourite films of all time ,,👌 and i liked the second film,,,,,Aswell,,,,,,
Now im really curious about this particular scene you was talking about ,,in jaws 3,,, the bit you had to pause,,,,,,🤔,,
But anyway Keith,,,
Good video,,
I enjoy watching your unboxings 👍😀
@millerman9991 your very welcome Keith,,,👌
You have good honest reviews,,
Look forward to your next video 👍
@lee-the-artist-1392 I really appreciate that Lee. I call it as I see it.
There's a few dumb ones out there my friend. Thankfully this one is not near as bad as some of the bad ones out there
@@millerman9991 the movie was shot in 3D back then.
A fb friend said it’s as good as 2 lol 😅 I laughed got mine last week
I definitely wouldn't go that far Mark
@@millerman9991 ye definitely not 2 out of 5 for me
I skipped this 1 mate , I didn't like jaws 2 transfer and audio . I'm getting more selective with my purchases..
It's a lovely edition tho ,
I've got the jaws blu ray collection .
@@millerman9991 nice 1 , I'm home alone tomorrow so that's my movie picked 👌
@iansteventon4221 happy days. I really hope you enjoy it
Excellent vid,a stunning collection of a god awful film,an excellent cast who all forgot how to act 😅
I love the way you phrased that Marty an excellent cast who forgot how to act. That's exactly what's going on in the movie. Thank you so much for stopping by
Jaws I will be a hypocrite here because I’m not against a back to the future remake but never remake jaws you can’t do that twice
To be honest Sean I would never want to see a remake of Back to the Future either. You can't repeat that magic
Couldn't stand this movie. Terrible casting. I preferred Jaws, the revenge
Yeah I wasn't too thrilled about it myself
I can't give my opinion on the transfer because I don't own it yet. Just waiting for a price drop on the steelbook so I can complete my steelbook collection. ✌
The 4K transfer has its issues but when you stack it up against the Blu-ray it truly is a Night and Day difference. It's actually quite staggering the difference. The Blu-ray is unwatchable. I think you might be impressed
Junk sequels for me i'm afraid! 🗑️👎
Yeah they're not for everybody
I love your reviews but please don't use our Lords name in vain...
I meant absolutely no offence by it and if you were I apologise
