Scripture Passage: Romans 9
As followers of Jesus, our greatest mission in this life is the pursuit of lost souls. Adrian Rogers says, “We are to evangelize or we will fossilize.”
In the Book of Romans, the Apostle Paul expresses sincere, steadfast, and sacrificial concern for lost souls. In Romans 9:1-2, he says, “I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit, that I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart.”
Are some predestined for Hell? Absolutely not! There are three things we need to know about the character and nature of God that will bring our theology into sharp focus.
We first need to recognize God’s sovereign choices. In this passage, Paul uses the Jewish nation to explain the concept of God’s sovereignty. Jews are God’s chosen people; they have been given a name of honor, adoption, glory, covenants, law, service, promises, and the coming Messiah. The purpose of God’s choice is not for salvation, but for service. His choice also deals with preference. God has preferences for nations, but He does not predestine individuals for Hell.
Second, we need to know God’s spotless character: “What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? Certainly not!” (Romans 9:14) Despite what we may feel about His sovereign choices, God answers to no one and He owes us nothing but judgment.
Yet, God pardons according to His sovereign will; He has decided to show us mercy when we don’t deserve it. It is not rooted in our merit but in His mercy. Punishment is according to man’s stubborn wickedness.
God has every right to punish sin because He is God. But God does not create people in order to destroy them. If we want mercy, God will give us mercy. But if we harden our hearts, God will further harden our hearts.
Finally, we need to be certain of God’s steadfast concern. He wants us to have salvation. If we want to be saved, He will save us, and keep us and present us spotless before His throne.
Apply it to your life
As you meditate on Romans 9 today, ask God to reveal His heart to you. Let the Holy Spirit affirm in your heart God’s sovereign choice, spotless character, and steadfast concern.

@@tjh4619 I'm sure that everything you said is true. As you have said, only God can judge. I'm just saying that I would never put a sinful man deserving of hell in the same sentence with the Trinity. Especially when you are qualifying the same kind of love which I am sure that you would never do.

I have Dave Hunt's book, *"What LOVE Is THIS?"* and it pulled me back from the brink of jumping ship; when I thought God, did, in fact, save me, only to decree that my family was predestined for hell. I cried, I was so angry! That idea that people have NO problem believing that vicious, heartless, UNBIBLICAL LIE is mind boggling as well as heart breaking! 😡💔

I don't know how it can be made more clear, Calvinism is a different gospel.
Everything that happens in history has been decreed/Predestined before the world was created see Eph 1:11, Proverbs 16:33 and Amos 3:6. And yes even when terrible things happen, I know it's hard for some people to accept but look what happened when David sinned against God and one of Davids punishments was that God told him that he was going to use Davids own son to shame his Father by Absalom Absalom doing something immoral to his Fathers concubines in front of all of Israel, see 2 Samuel 12:11-12 God said "Thus says the Lord, ‘Behold, I will raise up evil against you from your own household; I will even take your wives before your eyes and give them to your companion, and he will lie with your wives in broad daylight. Indeed you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, and under the sun." Notice how God said "I WILL DO THIS THING."That was fulfilled in 2 Samuel 16:21-22. Jesus did not die for every single person ever and Jesus didn't die to make people savable. He died to save his elect. In John 17:9 Jesus said that he does not pray for the world. The word world is used in different contexts, in that context he's talking about the non elect. In John 3:16 world means that he purchased people from every tribe, tongue and nation Rev 5:9 and for the children of God scattered abroad John 11:52. Some have been "long beforehand marked out for condemnation" Jude 4 and "appointed to doom." 1 Peter 2:8. About Pharaoh God said “For this VERY PURPOSE I raised you up, to demonstrate My power in you, and that My name might be proclaimed throughout the whole earth.” So then He has mercy on whom He desires, and He hardens whom He desires." Rom 9:17-18. Jesus said "I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight. All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him." Matthew 11:25-27. So, 2 Pet 3:9 the "not willing that any should perish" if you read that letter in context, 2 Pet 1:1 says "To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours." As far as salvation for all men verses, Paul was refuting the false notion of his time that God was only desiring to save just the Jews and 1 Tim 2:2 says to pray "for kings and all who are in authority" because as humans WE DON'T KNOW WHO THE ELECT ARE SO WE PRAY FOR EVERYONE! That's what it means in verse 4 by saying "all men." Amos 3:2 God said "of all the nations of the earth I have only known you." For centuries God passed over the majority of humankind because this verse isn't about knowledge it's about relationship. And it isn't because God foresaw Israel was more righteous then the other nations because sometimes Israel was more sinful then the pagan nations see 2 Kings 21:9. Only those who were predestined to be saved will be see Acts 13:48, Ephesians 1:4-5, Eph 1:11, Romans 9:11-23, John 6:37. 1 Samuel 3:14 God said “Therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be atoned for by sacrifice or offering forever.” That's Limited atonement.
If you had the choice, would you choose the gospel that puts God completely in charge or the one where man has a say in it?

It leaves Jesus out of the equation. The Calvinistic theology of predestination is heretical and I believe preachers/teacher’s of predestination are wolves in sheep’s clothing

God made evil for the day of evil, He also sacrificed His own Son that Whosoever would believe on Him, that they would be saved. Jesus also said "Many are called but few are chosen"(Matt. 22:14).
People choose to go to the light or walk away...John 1:9.

NATURAL MAN cannot respond to that 'Whosoever will' invitation without the initiative sovereign work of the Holy Spirit.Surely,the Holy Spirit regenerates only the elect BEFORE the foundation of the world.Salvation is the cooperative work of the Holy Trinity.Thr Father in Election,the Son in Redemption, the Holy Spirit in Regeneration.This is the TRUTH!
I believe in election, however I never thought Romans 9 was a good arguement for it.
ELECTION is to SERVICE. See Isaiah 42:1. In that verse, Messiah is called MY ELECT ONE in Whom My Soul delights. That verse is speaking of Messiah. Now, if Election is to SALVATION, then Messiah/ JESUS would have to be saved in order to save those who were elected for salvation.
More to the point, if you have NO problem with the idea that God supposedly pre-determined that so many would go to heaven and LITERALLY, *TO HELL* with everyone else? If you could convince me that God has decided that only so many would be going to heaven and He has NO PROBLEM casually damning BILLIONS to hell, then you will have successfully converted me to ATHEISM.
Do you have any loved ones whom God chose *NOT* to save? Do you have no problem with the idea that your mother or father or brother or sister or best friend will spend eternity in hell because GOD wants them there? THINK about that.

@@imprezars98985 Are you saying the reason why Adam sinned was because the Will of Satan for him to fall to temptation was a strong will than God's will be that Adam not eat the fruit? Unless Adam is free to sin without God loosening the reigns, then Satan overpowered God and that is not possible.

It pulled me back from the brink, when all I could find was people extolling the loving (????) 'sovereignty' of a god who is well pleased to damn millions....billions to hell, who he could have saved.
He goes into some history on how it all started.
2 Peter 3:9 says that God is not willing that ANY should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance. Now, if Calvinism is true (Yuh, right!) then God could save everyone IF he is not willing that any should perish. On the other hand, if everyone has a free will (pardon the language) then the choice of accepting or rejecting GOD'S OFFER (God takes the initiative in making the offer) is ours. On the other hand, rejecting salvation doesn't put humanity in control anymore than turning down a wedding invitation cancels the wedding.
If you are left a million dollars in someone's will but you had a major falling out with that person and reject the money, the money hasn't lost any monitary value. so the blood of Jesus is NOT wasted if someone rejects His salvation.
It's also HEARTLESS. I would sooner cozy up to the iceberg that sunk the Titanic than talk to someone who has NO problem with a god would casually damn his or her own family and friends to hell, with them having NO prayer or plea. God already decided so and so is going to heaven. Yaay. But mom or dad or brother or sister or best friend, who GOD chose for eternal damnation....tough luck for them. Calvinsm exposed
As a Calvinist, I can tell you that we Evangelize. We know that All who believe will be Saved. We know that all who don't will not be Saved. We also know that if you are Saved, it's not because you accepted Jesus. You are Saved because Jesus accepted you. We know that The Faith you have is not your Gift to God. Your Saving Faith is God's gift to you. We know that your repentance Has to be " Granted by God" that even that is not of yourself. These Truths are all proven with scripture. God's Choice of who he chooses over another is all thru the Old and New Testament. By the way the point of God's choice of Jacob over Esau is that their Lives and future had been predestined By God before they were Born.
This Preacher says He Had no Choice but to Preach the Gospel because it was ordained By GOD. If that's not predestination, what is. This Pastor has not only contradicted himself, he has proven Predestination in his own life. He had totally misunderstood Romans 9. I understand why he has. It's because he views the scripture thru Armenian Beliefs. He keeps saying that God does not believe in Predestination but says with his own mouth that God put Pharo in Power for God's own purposes. A total misunderstanding of these Scriptures I'm sad to say.

Calvinist; Do you believe that Jesus only died for a select group, and gladly sends those who aren't of your 'elect' to hell? A gospel like that would convert more to ATHEISM than to the 'christ' who has no trouble condemning his own creation to eternal damnation when he could have saved them. Isaiah 42:1 talks about SERVICE. If not, then MESSIAH had to be SAVED in order to save the few God chose to save.
Dare I ask, Do you have family members God chose *NOT* to save? Do you have NO problem with the idea that your god has no problem DAMNING BILLIONS, not that those people rejected God's offer of salvation, but that God CHOSE, before they were ever born, that they would be damned? What if YOU were not one of Calvin's 'ELECT' ? What if God condemned YOU to hell, with your not being able to pray or plead for Him to change HIS mind.
If you could convince me of the 'truth' of Calvinism's T.U.L.I.P. then you will have converted me to hardcore ATHEISM, because such an absolute DESPOT does NOT deserve anyone's praise!

Was God cruel when He had one of His Angels kill hundreds of thousand of Israel’s enemies on more than one occasion? I’m sure there were women and children, parents and Grand Parents who were killed when Joshua was taking the Land of Canaan? Was God Cruel Or was God Just. Since God is Righteous then so are His decisions are they not?
Is God cruel when a child dies in their Crib or is God exorcising His right as Creator to Give and to take away as it says in JOB 1:21?
So you see, We’re ALL here to serve GOD’S Purposes. The Scripture say God does what He Pleases Psalms 1:36. Everything God does is to bring Glory to Himself Isaiah 48:9-11.
My friend, Romans 9: 10-24 explains and verifies all of what I’ve told. He is the Potter, we are the Clay. He makes of us what serves His Purposes. This same God of the Bible that you may feel is a CRUEL DESPOT, is the Same God that drew you to His Son in order to Save you from your own Sins and give you Eternal Life. The Fear of God and His Righteousness has been replaced with Prideful Human centered “Free Will” doctrine. But the Truth is, is that we’re either “Slaves to Sin” or “Slaves to Righteousness” as our beloved Apostle Paul made clear. He also advised us that we cannot free ourselves of Being a Slave to Sin of our own volition and our own understanding 1st Corinthians 2:14.
Only God by power of the Holy Spirit who brings us to the Cross to be Saved, and only by His Holy Spirit are made to understand our need to repent and Believe and are Saved through Faith in Christ and this is “not of ourselves, it is the Gift of God.” It is God’s choice to whom He gives this gift, not ours.
This is true gospel preaching not this nonsense of chosen before your born Calvinism is destroying the gospel 2022 The art of gospel is dying out
Do you believe you are the author of your faith?
Romans 10:17 says faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Everyone has faith, in something. Faith is just another word for trust. Too many put their trust in the wrong thing. Science. Money, power, people. Hebrews 11:6 says that without faith, it is impossible to please God. Jesus scolded His disciples for their lack of faith.
Go to your concordance and look up the word Faith. God may give us a measure of faith, but how we use or don't us it is a choice that can be a blessing or not do any good at all. @@imprezars98985
